Can you stop at one?

How much sugar is too much sugar?

New guidelines announced today by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) say people should cap consumption at 50 grams of sugar a day - about 4 tablespoons or a little more than a can of Coke.

The World Health Organization (WHO), meanwhile, suggests no more than half that amount for best results.

"We have had some sugar in our diets for millennia, without epidemic obesity and diabetes," Dr. David Katz, the director of the Yale Prevention Research Center, told Tech Insider, but today about 75% of foods and drinks contain added sugar.

"It is the modern dose that makes the modern poison," Dr. Katz says.
