Winter has been milder than normal in many parts of the US, but the Northeast was hammered by a late-season snowstorm on Tuesday. With a mix of snow, ice, and rain, the stage is set for treacherous roadway conditions.

When it comes to driving, few things are more difficult to deal with than snow, much less when a "wintry mix" of precipitation arrives.
