The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will extend its e-catering service to 1,144 more trains. The service, which allows passengers to get their favourite food from leading food chains, is currently available in 201 trains. The food is delivered to passengers’ seats through online or SMS booking.

The e-catering service provides varieties of food items for all kind of travellers in wide ranges. Further, budget food supplied by ‘Jan Ahaar’ is also available, according to an Economic Times report.

Food from reputed brands such as Dominos and Bikanerwala are also made available on demand to ensure good and hygienic food for travellers.

Meanwhile, a minimum order of Rs 60 has to be placed at least two hours prior to the train's arrival at the selected station. In case a train is running late and reaches the meal delivery station beyond the service time (6 am-10 pm), the delivery of meal is not guaranteed.

If a passenger does not receive his or her meal, full refund shall be made after deducting bank charges.

The IRCTC has called for expression of interest (EOI) to rope in a variety of high-quality players on a pan India basis.
