It’s the age of the freelancers. One look around the café you’re eating your blueberry pancakes in and you realize it’s filled with freelancers with their laptops typing away furiously at their screens.

And, why shouldn’t they be? Being a freelancer is almost like being your own boss, except you gotta stick to some tiny deadlines!

But, if getting to work in a coffee shop while wearing pajamas means that you need to make your peace with some deadlines, I’d say, let’s go for it!

Additionally, it needs to be kept in mind that the most important part of pulling off the freelancer life is zeroing on a comfortable coffee-shop.
Don’t take this lightly. As the coffee shop is going to be your new office, you need to ensure that it suits all your requirements.

Once you’ve selected your venue, here are ten tips on how to ace working from coffee shops.

1. Look for larger coffee-shops: Bigger the coffee shop, more the space. Spacious coffee shops help you mentally to get started! Remember no one likes working out of a cramped crowded coffee shop.

2. Sit next to a reliable stranger: Your spot is the key. Pick a seat next to a reliable stranger and you’ll be sorted for all those washroom trips. There’ll be something looking over your stuff for you.

3. Sit in the biggest chair: The more comfortable you are, the better you’ll work.

4. Wear headphones: Let’s face it, not everyone is going to treat the coffee shop as a place of work, and there will be laughter and incessant noise. Thus, remember to always carry your headphones so as to minimize the noise.

5. Wear layered clothes: It’ll take you some time to adjust to the temperature of the coffee-shop and until you do, don’t forget to carry your comfiest hoodie!

6. Sit in the corner: Corners ensure the maximum privacy and maximum privacy ensures maximum work done. You get the drift!

7. Bring your water: The best work is done uninterrupted. Thus, the next time you’re thirsty you won’t have to interrupt your chain of thought to quickly run and get some.

8. Buy one drink: You’re utlising the coffee shop for your personal gain, it’s only fair to give them some business too, sint it? Plus, it’ll keep you dehydrated too!

9. Sit next to good lighting: This goes without saying, the better your surroundings are, the better you’ll work. Ample lighting is a must!

10. Find a power outlet: Always try searching for a power outlet before you start working. Your laptop will die soon enough and you’ll be left hunting for power, otherwise!
