Good morning! It will be partly cloudy and warm here in New York. It's the last day of the month, so make it count. Let's look at the news:

  1. Apple has been approved to sell the iPhone 6 in China, and sales will start October 17. Preorders start October 10.
  2. Microsoft will be announcing the next version of Windows today, here's what people are expecting.
  3. Our own Henry Blodget did an analysis of GoPro, whose stock has been going nuts. To justify today's valuation, it will need $1 billion to $3 billion of profit on revenues of $5 billion to $15 billion in 10 years.
  4. Apple is changing its iOS software release schedule. It seems to be developing three new variations of its software at once, which is new. It's unclear what it means. It could signal a faster release cycle for major changes to iOS.
  5. Apple will reportedly release a high-resolution, "Retina" iMac this fall.
  6. The European Commission says Apple's tax deal with Ireland may constitute unfair state aid.
  7. HP introduced ultra-cheap Windows laptops and tablets to compete with Chromebooks. The laptops cost $199. The tablets are $99.
  8. Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom joined the board of Wal-Mart.
  9. Fab's new company, Hem, which focuses on furniture is launching.
  10. Netflix is going to get access to the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon at the same time it hits theaters next year. This is a first for Netflix, and a pretty big deal.
