Elon Musk.

Good morning! It's the start of the month, so let's make August great. We're looking at scattered t-storms here in New York City. Let's look at the news.

  1. LinkedIn delivered an excellent earnings report, easily beating expectations and sending the stock soaring. LinkedIn is a pretty smooth running machine.
  2. Tesla reported earnings and it also beat expectations on revenue and EPS. The stock was up and down in reaction.
  3. The Google barge has been taken apart. A few months back, Google had a mysterious boat floating in San Francisco. It was going to be used as a showroom for Google Glass. It is now being taken apart and turned to scrap, in what is a pretty obvious metaphor for the state of Google Glass.
  4. French wireless company Iliad offered to buy T-Mobile for $15 billion. T-Mobile is the smallest carrier in the U.S., but it's been making waves lately.
  5. Here's some information on Illiad.
  6. Apple is clearly winning the battle with Samsung. While a lot of people think Apple is making mistakes with how it prices the iPhone, the latest earnings from Apple and Samsung show that Apple is doing the right thing.
  7. Apple has built its own massive CDN, or content delivery network. It makes it easier for Apple to deliver high definition video, app downloads, and more in the future.
  8. A drone that was trying to fly marijuana, phones, and tobacco into a maximum security prison in South Caroline crashed before it could deliver its goods.
  9. Alibaba has invested $120 million in gaming company Kabam at a $1 billion valuation.
  10. A group of online payment experts launched Stellar, a non-profit, open-source service for sending money between people.
