  1. Venture capitalist Fred Wilson wrote a good blog post looking at the troubles facing Square and Box. "The combination of sky high valuations, equally high burn rates, and a disappearing IPO market is not a pleasant one."
  2. PayPal's director of strategy, Rakesh "Rocky" Agrawal, sent out late night tweets insulting PayPal employees by name. He was let go from PayPal the next day, though he says he had already put in his two week notice.
  3. A high school teacher told us that in 16 years of teaching he's never seen his classroom disrupted the way it was disrupted when Snapchat updated its app last week. The students were all busy downloading the app and using the new features.
  4. Apple won another patent lawsuit against Samsung, but it's only getting a $120 million award. Apple had been hoping to win $2.2 billion.
  5. A big profile of Jack Ma, the chairman of Alibaba, which is expected to file for an IPO any day now.
  6. A year after selling to Yahoo, Tumblr founder David Karp talks to the New York Times. It sounds like Tumblr is still trying to figure out how to make itself a business.
  7. Here's a look at the factory where Samsung makes smartphones.
  8. A very good feature on how the uniform HBO's Silicon Valley gives to its characters is perfectly accurate.
  9. In September, there will be a big lawsuit that could decide the future of podcasting. Someone claims they own a patent on recording entertainment, then having it downloaded from the internet, which frankly sounds insane.
  10. SAP lost an important executive, Vishal Sikka, which is leading to a lot of questions about the direction of the company.
