- Disney was in talks to buy BuzzFeed earlier this year, but talks fell apart over price. BuzzFeed wanted $1 billion.
- Ali Rowghani is Twitter's "Mr. Fix-It". His official title is COO, but he's considered a co-CEO by Twitter employees. He's in charge of hiring new product leaders, and getting more new users to Twitter. (Twitter reports earnings today after the market closes.)
- Apple released new MacBook Airs today. They are slight upgrades to the most recent models. They also start at $899, which is a lower price.
- GitHub posted an even longer, more detailed explanation of its investigation into allegations of its cofounder's behavior. If you've been following this story, this is worth a read.
- Yahoo is planning to roll out two half-hour comedy shows. One of them is set in the future and directed by Paul Feig, who did Freaks and Geeks.
- Samsung's earnings were out yesterday, and it seems like they were good, but mixed. Profits were down for the second straight quarter. But, Samsung says it expects Q2 earnings to be strong based on an increase in smartphone demand, and high-end TV demand. It thinks people will buy lots of Ultra High-Definition TVs to watch the World Cup.
- The iPhone 6 will supposedly be as thin as the current iPod Touch is. We don't know why Apple is so obsessed with thinness. If it means trading off battery life, it's not worth it. The iPhone 5S is as thin as a phone needs to be.
- AT&T is planning on getting into the airplane WiFi business. GoGo's stock tanked on the news.
- The Verge did a long story on Motorola's smartwatch. The story is worth looking at to see how Google changed Motorola just before it sold it.
- Nokia's devices unit lost $452 million in Q1. That is now Microsoft's problem.
