The mosquito-borne Zika virus has been rapidly spreading through Latin America and the Caribbean - and is projected to start being transmitted in the US this summer.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued travel warnings for more than 40 countries that have seen local Zika transmissions, in addition to releasing a map showing just how far the mosquitoes that transmit the virus may spread within the US this summer. Another map, published by a team of global scientists in the journal eLife, shows that areas in Australia and Southeast Asia are also at risk.
