Mumbai, The Reserve Bank on Thursday tightened norms for unsecured personal loans for banks and non-banking financial companies. The revised norms wherein risk weights have been increased by 25 percentage points will not be applicable on certain consumer loans, including housing, education, and vehicle loans. Besides, the norms will not be applicable on loans secured by gold and gold jewellery. These loans will continue to attract 100 per cent risk weight. Higher risk weight implies that banks have to keep aside more money as buffer when it comes to unsecured personal loans. In simple words, a higher risk weight restricts banks' lending capacity. Recently, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das had flagged the high growth in certain components of consumer credit and advised banks and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) to strengthen their internal surveillance mechanisms, address the build-up of risks and institute suitable safeguards, in their own interest. The high growth seen in consumer credit and increasing dependency of NBFCs on bank borrowings were also highlighted by the governor during the interactions with MD/CEOs of major banks and large NBFCs in July and August, respectively. "On a review, it has been decided to increase the risk weights in respect of consumer credit exposure of commercial banks (outstanding as well as new), including personal loans, but excluding housing loans, education loans, vehicle loans and loans secured by gold and gold jewellery, by 25 percentage points to 125 per cent," the RBI said in a circular. The central bank has also increased the risk weights on credit receivables by 25 percentage points to 150 per cent and 125 per cent for banks and NBFCs, respectively.

Over 33 thousand students have scored marks above 95 per cent while 1.34 lakh students have scored above 90 per cent, the board said. "I want to pursue Computer Science Engineering from IIT Delhi. I am quite interested in Research and Development and would want to do entrepreneurship in R&amp;D," says Jindal.

You may be thinking he must have not taken his eyes of books, but Jindal says that's not been the case with him.  He has secured 111 in Physics, 110 in Maths and 100 in chemistry in JEE Main, and 98.6% in Class 12 CBSE because of which his rank jumped from 20 to 1 after the normalisation process. Of the top 1,000 positions, 853 have been secured by boys and 147 by girls. Ryali Gayathri from Telangana has emerged on the top among girls, securing the 11th rank. 
 The <keyword id="3439624" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="All-India-Rankings">All India Rankings</keyword> are based on their JEE Main score (60 per cent weightage) and Class 12 scores (40 per cent weightage). Admissions to BE and B Tech courses in engineering institutions like NITs, IIITs are made on the basis of these rankings. 
 
Meanwhile, in another significant move for admission to the IITs - for which scores in IIT (Advanced) exam is the basis, the first list of allocation of seats for IITs will be released on July 1. 
 
Among boards, CBSE students have done well, getting 12 of the top 20 ranks. States boards like Telangana (6 of the top 20 positions), Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra too find students among toppers. 
 Around 11.28 lakh students had appeared for the <keyword id="75235" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT-JEE">IIT JEE</keyword> Main exam, officials said, adding, results were announced a week in advance as compared to last year.

India's second-largest software exporter <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> might occupy the position of the most influential stock on benchmark indices such as <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sensex">Sensex</keyword>, <keyword id="6354813" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="nifty">Nifty</keyword> and MSCI Index as <keyword id="6378893" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="market-regulator">market regulator</keyword> <keyword id="35210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="sebi">SEBI</keyword> came up with new guidelines. <keyword id="139797" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="The-Securities-and-Exchange-Board-of-India">The Securities and Exchange Board of India</keyword> (SEBI) has said that existing promoters might be reclassified as public if a company becomes professionally managed and does not have any identifiable promoter, according to an ET report. According to experts, the move if implemented would increase the value of the Bengaluru-based company on these benchmark indices even ahead of mortgage lender <keyword id="45123" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="HDFC">HDFC</keyword>. "The re-classification of Infosys promoters can be seen as positive move from the stock prospective as exchange traded funds are expected to buy the stock," Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit <keyword id="87153" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BNP-Paribas">BNP Paribas</keyword>, told ET. 

	Analysts estimate Infosys' weightage on Nifty could increase to about 7.4% from 5.7%, to around 9.2% from 7.2% on the Sensex, and to 11.1% from 9.7% on MSCI India index once the proposal is finalized, reported the financial daily. 
 

	It is important to know that weightages of stocks on benchmark indices are dependent on the extent of public shareholding. 
 

	On Wednesday, HDFC's weightage on Nifty was at 8.8%. The current free float of Infosys is around 84%. Money managers are of the view that a rise in weightage could boost Infosys' near-term prospects.
 Moreover, the company’s stock gained 24% during the last one year and has outperformed its rivals - TCS which has gained 14%, and <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> 5% in the same period. The stock has also outperformed the Sensex that has risen 9.5% during last one year. 

	Meanwhile, Infosys promoters presently have 13.08% stake in the company, while foreign institutional investors (FIIs) account for around 38% stake and local funds hold about 15% equity.
 In October 2014, NR Narayana Murthy, <keyword id="44604" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Nandan-Nilekani">Nandan Nilekani</keyword>, S Gopalakrishnan, SD Shibulal and K Dinesh had written to Infosys saying that their shareholdings should not come under promoters' category, and instead should be reclassified as public holding.

Although brands are betting big on Diwali to light up sales, are consumers ready to shop again? YouGov’s Diwali Spending Index, an indicator of the spending intent among Indian consumers, reveals a spending propensity of 90.71 among urban Indians this festive season. Even though it is below average (of 100), the intent to spend is higher than last time (80.96), indicating a recovering appetite to spend among urban Indians. <div type="image" title="image005" msid="85999954" hostid="261"></div> The Index is calculated as a weighted impact of 10 factors (like increase in gross household income, increase/decrease in household expenses, intent to invest or splurge and general optimism towards economy) on their intent to spend more/less this Diwali season versus last. Among the 10 factors, the number one driver for people to spend more this year is their anticipation for the festival. Nearly a third (31%) agreed with the statement “I am looking forward to Diwali this year since the rest of the year has been quite dull because of Covid-19”. With nearly two years having passed and shoppers having no opportunity to spend, this is likely to be the factor that has improved the overall sentiment to spend more this Diwali as compared to last. Even though there is improvement, the biggest barrier to spending continues to be the same as last year. Close to 50% respondents last year said they are more careful with their finances today than they used to be in the past. And now a similar proportion (43.6%) said the same thing, indicating the fear of the uncertain is still strong among the public. Given 2021 witnessed a devastating wave of covid, despite excitement among the public for Diwali this year, the consumer sentiment is yet to match the pre-pandemic times. <div type="image" title="image006" msid="85999964" hostid="261"></div> Data shows that only 17% of the respondents said they were likely to spend more than last year during Diwali in 2020. In 2021, this number has increased and now 29% said they will spend more this year. While the spending intent is yet to go back to normal (pre-pandemic times), we see a marked improvement since last year and this is good news for brands trying to woo consumers this festive season. In YouGov’s Diwali series, we will see the impact of the pandemic on consumers’ buying sentiment across different sectors to see if the upcoming festive season can be a game-changer for businesses and brands.Methodology: This survey has been conducted on a sample of 2000 respondents on the YouGov India’s online panel in August 2021. The sample primarily constitutes consumers from NCCS A and B; and matches the population numbers of urban India in terms of basic demographics like age, gender, regions and city tiers. The Index is calculated as a weighted impact of 10 factors (like increase in gross household income, increase/decrease in household expenses, intent to invest or splurge and general optimism towards economy) on their intent to spend more/less this Diwali season versus last. The Index has been derived using Ordinal Logistic Regression and Johnson’s Relative Weight modelling to understand the relationship between each of the factors and overall intention to spend more this Diwali amongst consumers. · The pattern you follow in paying off your credit card and loan EMIs has the highest weightage of 35% and thus is the most important factor impacting your CIBIL score. 
· Next comes the “credit utilisation” that carries a weightage of 30%. Credit utilisation ratio is arrived at by calculating the balance outstanding on your existing cards as a percentage of the total credit limit on all your cards. 
· The third factor carrying a weightage of 15% is the “length of credit” or how long have you been servicing debt. 
· The number of “hard inquiries” on your CIBIL report has a 10% weightage on your CIBIL score. Every time you apply for a new loan or a credit card, it gets registered in CIBIL as a hard inquiry and shaves off a few points from your CIBIL score. 
· Lastly bearing a 10% weightage on your CIBIL score is the “mix of credit”. A healthy mix of secured and unsecured credit, will have a positive bearing on your CIBIL score. 
 
Now that you know what goes into the calculation of your CIBIL score, here a few mistakes you need to avoid to keep your CIBIL score intact. 
 
Making late payments It doesn’t matter how many <keyword id="6387037" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="credit-cards">credit cards</keyword> you own, but if you develop a habit of not paying the total outstanding amount within the billing cycle, you may be heading towards a disaster. Ensure that you spend judiciously and make all credit card repayments on time. The same holds true for loans, missing even one repayment can bring your CIBIL score down substantially. 
 
Exceeding credit utilisation above 30% 
Having a higher limit on your credit card, doesn’t mean that you have to use it completely. This ways, you’ll be inviting an overwhelming debt trap, as a higher credit utilisation means that more points being knocked off your CIBIL score. Therefore, keep a conscious check to see that your credit utilisation remains under 30% at all times. 
 
Closing old credit cards Do not commit the mistake of closing a credit card that was given to you by your parents once you are proficient enough to own a bunch of cards yourself. The reason being that if the card carries you name, it means that CIBIL has been recording your <keyword id="2490224" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="repayment-history">repayment history</keyword> (assuming that your Mom or Dad have been footing the bill for the same). You simply need to ensure that you have cleared the balances as this will help you gain brownie points for maintaining good credit history. 
 
Appearing credit hungry 
We are often credit card issuers and money lender to avail easy credit, but one should try to escape as much as possible unless you are in dire need of it. Applying for too many credit cards or loans will make you appear credit hungry and a considerable number of enquiries on your CIBIL report will bring your CIBIL score down. 
 
Not having the right credit mix If you are thinking that you are better off not availing credit at all, you are wrong. In fact, it makes a lender wary because he can’t access your credit history to asses you. On the other hand, what adds on to your CIBIL score is having a good mix of credit such as a home loan, car loan, a <keyword id="180660" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="personal-loan">personal loan</keyword>, etc. along with a maximum of two or three credit cards. Remember, the crux of maintaining a good CIBIL score is to use credit responsibly. If you are aware of your spending habits and are making timely repayments, you have little to worry about!

Panaji, The <keyword id="165004" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goa-Board-of-Secondary">Goa Board of Secondary</keyword> and <keyword id="165005" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Higher-Secondary-Education">Higher Secondary Education</keyword> has asked all its <keyword id="37180" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="schools">schools</keyword> in the state to conduct <keyword id="6364702" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="examinations">examinations</keyword> for <keyword id="6405739" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Classes">Classes</keyword> 9 and 11 students by calling them to the educational institutions. In a circular dated January 8, the board's secretary, Geraldina L Mendes, has said all the exams for Classes 9 and 11 shall be finished by April 24, 2021, to enable schools to provide infrastructure and manpower for the conduct of the board exams, which are going to start from April 26. Schools for Classes 10 and 12 in Goa reopened in November last year, after being shut for nearly eight months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while classes for all other standards are currently being conducted online. "In view of the prevailing pandemic situation and availability of limited number of instructional and working days, the schools are hereby requested to conduct examination, that is theory and pratical for Classes ninth and eleventh for the academic year 2020-21 by calling students to the schools," the circular reads. The board has given liberty to the schools to conduct the exams as per their convenience. "Those schools which have already conducted the first mid-term and first term exams need not conduct it again," the circular reads. The schools are also given liberty to set the papers of the first and second terms will full weightage or with 50% weightage, and then convert it into full weightage. The circular has said schools can set their own papers as per the coverage of the portion. The state board has already announced that 30% of the syllabus would be reduced for the current academic year. Till Saturday, Goa reported a total of 51,790 cases of coronavirus and 746 deaths due to the infection, as per official figures. On 27 September, India’s central bank eased a requirement imposed on banks related to liquidity coverage and said it would provide all necessary funding support to the banking sector. The RBI raised the facility to avail funds for liquidity coverage ratio (LCR), which measures the amount of liquid assets held by banks against short-term debt, from 11% to 13%. This will allow banks to increase the weightage given to government securities, which is a liquid asset, when calculating their statutory liquidity ratio, which measures the amount of deposits invested in liquid assets. Hence, this will free up banks’ deposits so they can meet their funding needs in the short-term. And their funding needs are dire. Earlier this week, the liquidity deficit was estimated to be ₹1.4 trillion. However, In doing so, the RBI is effectively trading short-term benefits for longer-term pain. The current liquidity crisis stems from the aversion of institutional investors to buy the debt instruments of non-banking financial companies like IL&amp;FS, which is on the brink of default. By relaxing liquidity coverage requirements for banks, the RBI is allowing banks greater freedom in how they use their deposits and also letting them take on riskier short-term debt so a lot more money will enter the system, which will have an inflationary effect. In essence, domestic lenders are being allowed to use a greater percentage of their deposit-holders’ money to pay down their short-term debt obligations and extend credit to borrowers. In the event of a market downturn or a loss of faith in these banks, they could face a run on their deposits, which will be fatal given their lower risk buffer. The finance ministry has insisted that the RBI also relax reserve requirements for banks, under which banks set aside a certain portion of funds with the central bank. Earlier this week, the RBI took a page out of the European Central Bank’s playbook on <a href="https://www.ecb.europa.eu/explainers/show-me/html/app_infographic.en.html">“quantitative easing”</a> and said it would buy around <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/money-and-banking/rbi-to-conduct-omo-to-infuse-liquidity/article25029705.ece">₹100 billion</a> worth of <keyword id="6370709" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Government-bonds">government bonds</keyword> from the open market to inject funds into the economy.
