Best Xiaomi mobile phones in India in March 2021

The trend started February this year with the exclusive launch of <keyword id="6374435" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Moto-G">Moto G</keyword> on Flipkart.com. The smartphone’s two versions were launched; 16 GB and 8 GB, and all 16 GB units were gone after 15 minutes of the launch all. And in few hours all 20,000 Moto G units (including 16GB as well as 8GB) were sold out. This was not technically a flash sale, though it seemed like one with phones getting sold out so quickly. 
 This ‘online only’ exclusive model was soon followed by many other brands including China’s <keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword>. And unlike <keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword>, Xiaomi had taken the path of flash sales. The brand launched Mi3, its first model in India on 22 July exclusively on Flipkart.com. All the units were sold in 40 minutes flat. The <a href="http://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/xiaomi-flipkart-confirm-20000-mi-3-smartphones-sold-thus-far-in-india-567944">second batch</a> of Mi 3 handsets took 5 seconds, the third took just 2 seconds, the fourth batch was claimed to be sold in 2.4 seconds, fifth batch in 2.3 seconds and the sixth one in 2.4 seconds. Phew. Wasn’t this super quick? 
 
This September, Xiaomi announced its second model Redmi 1S and have had 3 flash sales of the model till date. Every time the products went out of stock under 5 seconds. These flash sales have created quite a buzz but not everything is good about it. Let’s take a look and understand what’s happening at this flash sale where products are getting sold in less than a few seconds. 
 
Great features for steal price or the ‘lottery’ factor Both Xiaomi Mi3 and Redmi 1S models offer great features at a very competitive price. After the success of Moto G, <keyword id="2206516" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Moto-E">Moto E</keyword> and Moto X the Indian consumers started looking at online as a serious platform for buying phones. When Xiaomi’s Mi3 was launch, consumers compared the features and eagerly lapped up the product and this was quite a surprise for the company too. News reports claim that the company had less than 10,000 units for the first sale on 22nd July, 2014. Thus, the product getting sold out completely in 40 minutes was encouraging yet not a very big deal. 
 
The industry reports claim that the Mi3’s first flash sale had 1 lakh unit registrations. The other flash sales have had similar numbers about 20,000 units of Mi3 were on sale against registration of 2, 50,000 for the sixth Mi3 flash sale. 
 
With such a huge gap of demand and supply, there is a lottery factor involved. Getting a Xiaomi phone makes consumers feel like winning a lottery and make many desire it. This lottery factor has certainly pushed the demand for Xiaomi smartphones in India. 
 
Angry customers and black market sales: Threat to the brand 
Well, the lottery factor certainly pushes the demand for Xiaomi phones further and makes the product more desirable in consumers’ eyes. But unfortunately, this flash sale model leaves consumers angry, dissatisfied and disgruntled, which is not good for the brand. Just look at the Xiaomi phone registrations and number of units sold; the gap is so huge. 
 
Some competitive handset manufacturers and experts are calling Xiaomi’s strategy nothing but a PR stunt to get attention. What’s unfortunate is that it may actually create buzz around the brand, but with so many angry and disgruntled customers the brand has a lot more to lose. 
 
What’s even worse is that the demand and supply gap is also leading to black market sales. Several people are just buying these smartphones only to resell them at a higher price. Check out OLX. The re-selling prices are often Rs 1,500-2,000 higher than the original. This again will have a bad impact on the brand in the long run. 
 
Lack of supply: Truth or just a gimmick? 
In several news reports, the company has quoted that it is trying to meet the demand. What we can’t comprehend is that if they have sold about 95,000 units of Mi3 in just one and a half months, what stops them from selling the same amount in two to three sales. 
 
For instance, the company got 40,000 units of Redmi 1S as against 2 lakh registrations in first flash sale in September first week. Next week again, it brought 40,000 units against a registration of three lakh consumers. And in the third week of September they again sold just 40,000 units. Now, if the company can get 1, 20, 000 units in three weeks, why can’t they bring all in one go to ensure demand is met. 
 
The question of losing credibility 
Contrary to this, Motorola that sold Moto G (16 GB) units in 15 minutes in the first sale in February, focused on demand forecast and ensuring that appropriate inventory is available. The company got ample units for the much-hyped Moto G second generation that was launched earlier this month and the product is available on Flipkart since then. No crazy flash sale approach. That’s what gives credibility to a brand, unlike a ‘flash sale’ model; consumers can associate it with unreliability. This unreliability and loss of credibility becomes even worse if the product is available in black market for sale. 
 
If Xiaomi wants to succeed in future, it should reconsider its ‘flash sale’ strategy or else get ready to face the repercussion.

You can now buy Redmi K20 and K20 Pro any time — no more waiting for flash sales

Soon after <keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword> has created ripples across the tech ambit for having sold 2.12 million phones in 12 hours, Indian mobilephone maker <keyword id="71696" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Micromax">Micromax</keyword> is also planning to walk the proven path. As per a report by The Economic Times, Micromax is introducing '<keyword id="2437759" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="flash-sale">flash sale</keyword>' to its online retail strategy as the country's second largest handset maker looks to maintain its break-neck growth rate and take competition such as Xiaomi and <keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword> head-on. 
	 
	Micromax chief Vineet Taneja told The Economic Times, the phone makers will offer exclusive products in different price ranges with online retailers Flipkart, <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>. Micromax has clocked 54% jump in its revenues for the year ended March 2015 at around 10,000 crore. 
	 
	"Apart from creating a buzz, it (flash sale) also helps in planning our supplies better. It gives us an estimate of how much stock we have," Taneja added while speaking to the financial daily. 
	 
	Micromax has recently launched Canvas Spark, a Rs4,999 smartphone, to be sold exclusively on Snapdeal through flash sales starting April 29. The company plans similar deals with Amazon and Flipkart. 
	 
	However, the company will continue to sell its existing product portfolio across the online portals and through offline stores. 
	 
	While this is the first time Micromax has not explored flash sale on its own , its subsidiary <keyword id="2602309" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yu-Televentures">Yu Televentures</keyword> holds flash sales of its Yu smartphone every Thursday and has sold over 200,000 units so far. 
	 
	With the flash sale and tie-ups with eCommerce majors, Taneja said Micromax aims to extend its lead in the mass smartphone market, or sub- 7,000 segment, which is the fastest growing price segment. 
	 
	The firm looks to maintain its 50% growth rate this fiscal year through new launches, online flash sales and by ramping up local manufacturing. 
	 
	Taneja said contribution of the mass market segment to overall volumes had increased to 60% in January-March quarter, from 50% in April-June 2014. While the overall smartphone market grew 17% over this period, the mass market segment doubled, contributing 45%-50% by value, he added.

Cook said, "We've always had stiff competition. We always will have stiff competition, this will make us better."Xiaomi is only four years old, but it's already the biggest smartphone seller in China. Xiaomi started off as a company that cloned Apple. Its founder, Lei Jun, dressed like Steve Jobs.  An 108-megapixel camera lens may sound exciting on paper, producing an image that measures 12,032 x 9,024 pixels, but it doesn't dictate the quality of the camera. Samsung's 108-megapixel camera lens will make its first appearance on a Xiaomi phone

<ul><li>The recently launched <keyword id="6485927" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="realme">Realme</keyword> 5 <keyword id="8006290" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="quad-camera-phone">quad camera phone</keyword> was sold out during its flash sale. </li><li>The sale will once again go live at 8 PM on Flipkart.</li><li>The phone has three variants that are priced at ₹9,999, ₹10,999 and ₹11,999. </li></ul>The Realme 5 phone with a quad camera was sold out within 30 minutes of opening its flash sale via Flipkart. In half an hour, the company sold a whopping 120,000 units. The Quad Camera Powerhouse – Realme 5 will go on sale again at 8 PM on Flipkart tonight (August 27). The quad camera phone is available in three different variants – 3+32GB priced at ₹9,999, 4+64GB priced at ₹10,999 and 4+128GB costing at ₹11,999. The phone had made news because of its special quad camera feature which offers photo/selfie savvy phone users better quality with its 119° ultra-wide-angle lens, main camera, portrait lens and ultra-macro lens. It runs on Android 9.0 version. Realme is over a year old in India and has launched over 12 products – realme 1, realme 2, realme 3, realme 2 Pro, realme 3 Pro, realme U1, realme C1, realme C2, realme 3i, realme X, realme 5 and realme 5 pro. Being an ‘affordable’ smartphone that offers great features like the quad camera, the phone is set to be a big competitor to the likes of Xiaomi, who is a leader in the ‘affordable’ smartphone category.

Realme 5 flash sale on Flipkart: 120,000 phones sold out in just 30 minutes

<keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword> becomes the first Chinese brand to set up its manufacturing shop in the country with able assistance from <keyword id="6354671" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Foxconn">Foxconn</keyword> and they have chosen Andhra Pradesh as their first stop. The plant located in Visakhapatnam (or Vizag) will be entrusted with making phones locally for the consumers, thereby shedding away their flash model online sales in the near future. 
 Kicking off proceedings, Xiaomi will be manufacturing Redmi 2 Prime smartphone initially with other models expected to be part of the set up in the coming months. The announcement was made during an event which was attended by Hugo Barra, vice president – Global at Xiaomi, Manu Kumar Jain, general manager at <keyword id="2210169" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Xiaomi-India">Xiaomi India</keyword>, and <keyword id="6354350" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chandrababu-Naidu">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword>, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. 
 
Redmi 2 Prime is the upgraded version of Redmi 2 with bumped up storage and higher memory count as well, rest remains the same. Foxconn has been actively hunting for partners in India and their objective to set up plants in every state of the country epitomises the current regime’s dream to get India on the manufacturing roadmap much akin to how its global counterparts these days. 
 
Redmi 2 Prime sports a 4.7-inch HD display, powered by quad-core Snapdragon 410 CPU with 2GB RAM and packs 8MP (back) and 2MP (front) cameras with 4G LTE support and dual-SIM slot. The phone will be available in the coming days. 
 
Andhra Pradesh is one of the few states in the country to have opened itself to the prospect of luring more and more IT companies and bringing Xiaomi with Foxconn is another big step to its promise.

Xiaomi and Foxconn set up Make in India with Redmi 2 Prime
for Rs 6,999

NEW DELHI: <keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword> will put 40,000 handsets of the entry-level <keyword id="2415488" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Redmi">Redmi</keyword> 1S <keyword id="28168" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Smartphone">smartphone</keyword> on its next flash <keyword id="6371194" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="sale">sale</keyword> on September 2, the company said Thursday in a post on popular micro-blogging site Twitter. 
 
The registrations for the Redmi 1S commenced Tuesday on Flipkart.com, the sole retailer of the Chinese company’s products in India. 
 
Manu Jain, head of India operations at Xiaomi, told ET that the company is bringing in significantly higher numbers of the handset this time around, as it learns from the flash sales of Mi 3 smartphone. The Chinese smartphone maker has sold 95,000 Mi3 smartphones in India through six flash sales in a month so far, but has faced flak after supply was nearly a tenth of the demand. 
 Mi 3 won't available for a few weeks in the <keyword id="47445" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-market">Indian market</keyword> due to capacity issues. 
 
According to Jain, Xiaomi’s entire focus would now be on the Redmi 1S, which is aggressively priced at Rs 5,999. The company is also trying to bring the Redmi Note in the next couple of weeks. 
 
Xiaomi is ramping up service and call centers for the latest Redmi 1S and Redmi Note smartphones. “We are further ramping up the supply chain for our devices. The quantity of Redmi 1S smartphone will be significantly better as we further ramp it up”. 
 
Xiaomi is also testing the Mi4 smartphone in India and expects to bring it around end-2014.

Xiaomi To Put 40,000 Redmi 1S Phones On Sale On September 2

In India for 5 years and <keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword> has already created a niche out of itself in the smartphone arena. India’s smartphone market having fared quite well, thanks to affordability and convenience, many ecommerce companies have joined hands with smartphone makers and became a one spot store for many brands. 
 Known for its flash sale strategy, this chinese phone maker has ended its exclusive partnership with <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> and joined hands with new online partners Amazon and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> to sell its products in the country, as per a news report by The Economic Times. 
 
Xiaomi's India head Manu Jain announced these new partnerships on Twitter and tweeted that customers can now purchase Mi products from Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon, The Mobile Stores and Airtel India stores. 
 With a market share of 3-4%, Xiaomi has recently partnered with <keyword id="248099" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="The-MobileStore">The MobileStore</keyword> to sell its products in the offline retail. To outgrow its business it has recently tied up with Bharti Airtel to sell Red Mi Note 4G through the carrier's 133 stores in areas where Airtel offers 4G services.

No longer ‘exclusive’ to Flipkart, now buy Xiaomi from Amazon and Snapdeal as well!

Come May 18 and you would see another Chinese smartphone company making inroads in India as <keyword id="889852" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Meizu">Meizu</keyword> has decided to launch its phone in the country. 
 Chinese phone maker, Meizu, announced on its official Twitter handle that it would launch the <keyword id="2772401" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Meizu-M1-note">Meizu m1 Note</keyword> in India. With this news, it seems India has become a new playground for Chinese smartphone makers as Xiaomi, Gionee and Oppo have already captured the imagination of people in the country. 
 
Meizu had posted a teaser about its India entry on its Facebook page in March this year and it is expected that the company would tap both online and offline channels for sales in India. 
 
Meizu m1 Note has a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It comes powered by a MediaTek's octa-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat atop which it has its proprietary Flyme 4 skin. The phone has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. There is a big 3,140 mAh battery under the hood. 
 
The phone will be priced at around Rs 13,800 which seems like a decent price point. However, chances are that Meizu might price the phone more aggressively, keeping Xiaomi's offerings in mind.

Yet another ‘Make in China’ smartphone to launch in India

Following a recent investment of $1.1 billion at a valuation of $45 billion,&#xa0;Chinese mobile phone maker Xiaomi is now&#xa0;<a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-30629883">the most valuable startup in the world</a>.
Just a year and a half ago it was valued at less than $10 billion.&#xa0;
The company put up $12 billion in revenues in 2014. So how has it done it? A new report by Bernstein Research sheds new light on the Asian company, and the secret behind its meteoric rise: An extraordinarily loyal fanbase.
Xiaomi could become the first Android phone company with a fanbase as rabid as Apple's.
Apple's customers are known for their loyalty. The Cupertino company's fanbase is (in)famous for its tribalism, and they're not averse to spending days queueing for Apple's latest product - <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/people-camped-out-at-an-apple-store-2015-1">even in blizzards</a>. Apple has the most zealous fans of any electronics company on the planet. (A lot of people like Samsung devices, but not to the extent of Apple's customers.)
But Xiaomi's fans are something else entirely.
They call themselves "Mi-fans." They have fan clubs. They have their own dedicated "Mi-fan Day" on April 6, when Xiaomi holds special marketing campaigns and announces new products.&#xa0;
<a href="http://thenextweb.com/asia/2014/04/09/xiaomis-social-media-strategy-drives-fan-loyalty-books-it-242m-in-sales-in-12-hours/">An article from the Next Web goes into more detail</a> about the level of devotion that these Mi-fans have. They often travel all the way across China to attend new launches , which have turnouts in the thousands. And these crowds can get so rowdy that heavy security is required for "crowd control." During a "festival" celebrating Xiaomi's &#xa0;fourth anniversary, the company sold 170,000 stuffed toy Mi Rabbits - a mascot of Xiaomi that is much-beloved by fans. In 2014, the "Mi Day" festival saw <a href="http://www.chinainternetwatch.com/7386/the-art-of-social-ecommerce-xiaomi-taught-us/">$243 million in sales in a day</a> - a new domestic record.
According to Bernstein Research's report, this isn't just a case of heavy marketing. Samsung is one of its closest competitors, and spends around 8 percent of its revenue on sales and marketing expenses, according to Bernstein Research. Xiaomi, in contrast, spends just 3.2 percent. The company isn't buying its fans' loyalty - it's earning it.&#xa0;
And they're doing this by very actively engaging with their customer base. They interact with fans frequently through social media - far more than Apple does - and actively draws upon user feedback when it comes to making changes and adding features. They keep things exciting by hosting online flash sales, and are reportedly known to <a href="http://thenextweb.com/asia/2014/04/09/xiaomis-social-media-strategy-drives-fan-loyalty-books-it-242m-in-sales-in-12-hours/">give away products to especially "fervent" fans</a>.
Apple hasn't ever faced a company with this type of fanbase before, as Xiaomi hasn't even launched in the West yet.
"What is the secret to the Xiaomi brand?" <a href="http://blog.btrax.com/en/2014/09/22/xiaomi-the-fan-economy-and-word-of-mouth-marketing/">asks co-founder Wanqiang Li.</a> "My answer is customer participation. Xiaomi isn't selling a product, but the desire to be a part of something." <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-the-apple-of-china-really-is-like-apple-2015-1">Industry analyst Ben Thompson says that</a> what Xiaomi is ultimately selling isn't electronics - it's a "lifestyle."&#xa0;
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun is as a Steve Jobs-esque figure. He has a "charismatic personality that inspire loyalty in his customers in much the same way" as the late Apple co-founder, <a href="http://thenextweb.com/asia/2012/08/19/why-chinas-xiaomi-inspiring-loyalty-rivals-apple-fanboys-google-fandroids/">the Next Web wrote in 2012</a>. He's also reportedly deliberately modelled his oratory style on Jobs. He dresses the same, too, giving presentations in a jeans topped by a black shirt.
Xiaomi's focus on online distribution also helps keep costs low. About 70% of its handsets are sold online, bypassing the need for costly physical distribution networks. The company further leverages this by employing "hunger marketing" - long reservation lists and wait times before shipping products. This creates the impression of scarcity and helps "frenzy demand," Bernstein Research says.
A charismatic leader, a loyal fanbase - it's the Apple playbook, being used to great effect. For now, Xiaomi's attention remains focused on Asian markets. But Lei Jun says the company could be <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-wants-to-overtake-apple-and-samsung-2014-11">the No.1 smartphone maker on the globe</a> in five years. If so, there will be challenges to overcome - not least <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/jony-ive-calls-design-copies-theft-2014-10#ixzz3JexWA92b">the accusations that Xiaomi phones copy Apple's</a>, and amount to "theft."

The West Has No Idea How Fanatical Xiaomi's Fans Are

Just when 3G has started finding its feet in India, <keyword id="13722" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lenovo">Lenovo</keyword> has unleashed its cheapest ever <keyword id="122479" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="4G">4G</keyword> <keyword id="28168" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Smartphone">smartphone</keyword> in the country, Lenovo A6000. Priced at Rs 6,999, the device will be available exclusively on Flipkart, just like its Vibe X and Z series. At this price point, Lenovo’s giving Xiaomi, Asus and Motorola (among others) a tough run for its money; thereby, giving consumers plenty of options to choose from. 
 
Lenovo A6000 plays more on the price factor, rather than competing with the might of Xiaomi and Yu, who have managed to offer exceptional value-for-money hardware at sub Rs 10k price point. Lenovo A6000 sports a 5-inch HD display which is smaller than Xiaomi and Yu devices, but in comparison to products in the sub Rs 7kK range that’s quite an impressive quality made available. 
 
Lenovo has taken utmost interest in making sure that the phone manages to find takers for its sheer looks and figurine with 8.2mm thickness and weighing a mere 128 grams, making it one of the lightest phone in the budget segment. 
 
The company has chosen 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chipset for the A6000 clocked at 1.2GHz that is basically the 4G supported successor to the very popular Snapdragon 400 SoC. On the memory front, Lenovo has opted for 1GB RAM, offering 8 GB storage which is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD slot. Competing straight head with the popular Xiaomi Redmi 1S and Motorola Moto E, Lenovo A6000 comes fitted with an 8MP rear snapper and 2MP front camera as well. 
 
The smaller sized phone, however seems to have to gotten the battery size right as this smartphone comes with a 2,300 mAh unit that should make day-to-day usage very convenient. To buy the Lenovo A6000 you will have to register yourself on Flipkart and you can do that starting from later today going up to 26 January. And from there on, Flipkart will sell the phone ( to registered users only) on January 28. 
 
It's hard to complain about the product, its pricing and the overall value proposition but it'll be interesting to see if the phone will be available normally or the dreaded flash-sale model.
