The <keyword id="58687" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharatiya-Janata-Party">Bharatiya Janata Party</keyword> leading on 17 seats. The Times Now Exit Poll Predictions had said Mamta Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress might not do as well as it did in 2014 elections. The projections forecast TMC winning from 28 out of 42 seats in West Bengal. Though the vote share of TMC might remain the same in 2019 <keyword id="6355187" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> election result as it was in 2014, the predictions presuppose that the TMC’s seats might be down by about 6 this time. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the TMC got 34 seats out of 42. The remaining 8 seats were distributed among the other contesting parties at the rate of 2 for BJP, 4 for the Congress party and 2 for the left front led by the CPI (M). If the Times Now Predictions match with the actual turnout after the results are announced, the BJP might be winning 11 seats from West Bengal in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while the party could get only 2 seats during 2014 general elections from this state. The TMC contested from all the 42 constituencies in West Bengal. While choosing the candidates to represent the party in 2019 elections from this state, Mamta Banerjee had decided to drop 10 sitting MPs and getting in 18 new candidates. Besides the 42 seats in West Bengal, TMC contested from 3 seats in Jharkhand, 2 seats in Odisha, 2 seats in Bihar, and 1 seat in Andamans. TMC has also decided to let its candidates try their luck from 10 assembly constituencies in Odisha as the state of Odisha is going for assembly and Lok Sabha 2019 polls simultaneously. The Party’s sitting MP Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of Mamta Banerjee, the TMC chief faced the elections once more from Diamond Harbor, his winning constituency. The celebrity candidate of TMV Mimi Chakraborty contested from Jadavpur. Yet another star candidate of TMC Nusrat Jahan fought from Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency.

West Bengal Lok Sabha Election Result 2019: TMC leaves BJP behind in the state

On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, the Election Commission of India <a href="https://eci.gov.in/files/file/9448-general-election-to-lok-sabha-2019-notification-for-phase-2-by-mo-law-justice/">issued</a> the Lok Sabha Election 2019 second phase notification. As per the announcement made by the Election Commission of India on March 10, 2019, The 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will be conducted in 7 phases. The second phase notification pertains to the polling across the country scheduled on April 18, 2019. Among the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies of the country, 91 will go for polling on April 11, 2019 during the first phase. During the second phase of polling on April 18, 2019, a total number of 97 constituencies scattered across 13 states and union territories will go for polling. After the polling across all the 7 phases ending on May 19, 2019, the votes will be counted on May 23 and the results will be declared by the evening on the same day. Since the tenure of the government in the center will end on June 3, 2019, the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will decide who will rule the largest democracy for the next five years. Phase-1 notification highlights As per the formal gazette notification on phase-2 of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections issued on March 19, 2019, the second phase of polling will happen on April 18, 2019 in 97 constituencies. Last date to file the nomination to contest in these constituencies will be March 26, 2019. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on March 27, 2019. Last date to withdraw the nomination is March 29, 2019 Date of polling during the second phase is April 18, 2019 Date of counting and announcement of results is scheduled on May 23, 2019 By March 29, the electors across the country will get to know the total number of candidates contesting in all of these 97 constituencies. 97 Constituencies that will go for polling during Phase-2 During phase-2 polling on April 18, 2019, all the 39 constituencies of Tamil Nadu will go to polls. There will also be bye-elections in 18 Assembly constituencies on this day clubbed with the Lok Sabha polls. Puducherry, a union territory with a single constituency will also poll on this day. The other states and constituencies that will go for polling during the second phase include 14 constituencies in Karnataka, 10 in Maharashtra, 8 constituencies in UP, 5 in Assam, 5 in Bihar, 5 in Odisha, 3 in Chhattisgarh, 3 in West Bengal, 2 in Jammu and Kashmir, 1 in Manipur, and 1 in Tripura. Though Banerjee is trailing, the Trinamool Congress is showing signs of cruising to a big victory with most of its major candidates leading in their respective seats. Alternatively, Tourism Minister Goutam Deb is trailing from the Dabgram-Phulbari constituency in Jalpaiguri district, while Labour Minister Moloy Ghatak is trailing from the Asanasol South constituency in East Burdwan district. BJP's Nisith Pramanik is leading against Trinamool heavyweight Udyayan Guha from the Dinhata Assembly constituency in Cooch Behar district. But the minorities back the chief minister, against the BJP, for the fear of vilification if the latter were to gain ground in the state.
