The company sold 2,50,993 units in December 2021, <keyword id="46156" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="tvs-motor" source="Orion">TVS Motor</keyword> said in a statement. Domestic two-wheeler sales grew 10% to 1,61,369 units last month compared to 1,46,763 units in December 2021. <keyword id="6359451" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Motorcycle" source="Orion">Motorcycle</keyword> sales were lower at 1,24,705 units against 1,33,700 units in December 2021. On the other hand, scooter sales grew to 76,766 units in December 2022 from 67,533 units in the year-ago month. <keyword id="62356" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS" source="Orion">TVS</keyword> Motor said it's electric two-wheeler <keyword id="8648410" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="iqube-electric" source="Orion">iQube Electric</keyword> registered sales of 11,071 units last month against 1,212 units in December 2021. Last month's total exports slipped to 79,402 units compared to 1,03,420 units in December 2021. The company said three-wheeler sales were also lower last month at 14,346 units against 15,541 units in the year-ago period. TVS Motor sales slip 3.58% to 2,42,012 units in Dec

Chennai, Two- and three-wheeler maker <keyword id="201434" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS-Motor-Company-Ltd">TVS Motor Company Ltd</keyword> on Saturday said it had logged 17.5% growth in sales last month. In a statement the <keyword id="24975" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="company">company</keyword> said it had closed last month selling 272,084 units (two <keyword id="968668" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="wheelers">wheelers</keyword> 258,239, three wheelers 13,845 units) up from 231,571 units (two wheelers 215,619 units, three wheelers 15,952 units) sold in the month of December 2019. According to <keyword id="46156" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS-Motor">TVS Motor</keyword>, exports grew by 28% last month with shipments totalled 94,269 units up from 73,512 units registered in December 2019. During the <keyword id="4021103" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Third-Quarter">third quarter</keyword> of the current financial year, two-wheelers posted sales of 9.52 lakh units as against sales of 7.73 lakh units in the third quarter FY20. TVS Motor logs 17.5% sales growth in December

New Delhi, Feb 4 () TVS Motor Company on Tuesday reported a 20.7 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 156.84 crore for the third quarter ended on December 31, 2019, hit by lower sales during the period. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 197.79 crore in the December quarter of 2018-19. Total income of the company declined to Rs 4,779.32 crore for the third quarter as compared with Rs 5,123.50 crore in the year-ago period, TVS Motor Company said in a regulatory filing. The company said its overall two-wheeler sales during the third quarter ended December 2019 stood at 7.73 lakh units as compared with 9.5 lakh units in the quarter ended December 2018. Motorcycle sales for the quarter under review stood at 3.25 lakh units as compared with 3.78 lakh units in the year-ago quarter. Similarly, scooter sales stood 2.8 lakh units for the third quarter as compared with 3.54 lakh units in the year-ago period. On the other hand, total three-wheelers sales grew 22.1 per cent to 48,391 units in the said quarter as against 39,629 units in October-December period of 2018-19. Similarly, total exports of the company grew 22.6 per cent to 2.17 lakh units during the third quarter as against 1.77 lakh units in the year-ago period. The company's board has re-appointed Venu Srinivasan as the chairman and managing director for a further period of five years, effective April 24, 2020, TVS Motor Company said. MSS RUJ

TVS Motor Q3 net dips 21 pc at Rs 157 cr

New Delhi, Jan 2 () Major two-wheeler makers of the country, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor on Thursday reported decline in their domestic sales in December, ending 2019 on a negative note.
 Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL), however, reported a marginal increase in domestic sales last month.
 The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp said sales in domestic market were at 4,12,009 units last month as compared to 4,36,591 units in December 2018, down 5.6 per cent.
 Similarly, Bajaj Auto also reported 21 per cent decline in motorcycle sales in domestic market at 1,24,125 units last month as against 1,57,252 units in the year-ago period. 
Chennai-based TVS Motor Co said its domestic two-wheeler sales were down 25 per cent at 1,57,244 units last month as compared to 2,09,906 units in the corresponding month of 2018.
 Niche bike maker Royal Enfield posted domestic sales of 48,489 units in December as against 56,026 units in the year-ago month, down 13 per cent.
 Bucking the trend, SMIPL said its domestic sales grew 1.1 per cent to 44,368 units in December 2019 as compared to 43,874 units in the same month a year ago.
In terms of exports, Hero MotorCorp said its overseas shipments last month were at 12,836 units as compared to 17,394 units in December 2018.
Likewise, Royal Enfield also posted 14 per cent decline in exports last month at 1,927 units as compared to 2,252 units in December 2018.
 On the other hand, Bajaj Auto reported 13 per cent increase in motorcycle exports at 1,60,677 units as compared to 1,41,603 units in the same month a year ago.
 Similarly, TVS Motor Co's two-wheeler exports grew 20 per cent at 58,375 units in December 2019 as against 48,803 units in the same month previous year. RKL RKL ANU

Two-wheeler makers post sales decline in December

<ul><li>India’s <keyword id="6374783" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-wheeler">two-wheeler</keyword> market is characterised by intense competition and sluggish sales. </li><li>However, <keyword id="62356" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS">TVS</keyword> Motor Co has recorded above-average growth. </li><li>This is largely due to the success of its newer models. </li></ul>India’s two-wheeler market isn’t what one would refer to as enticing for new entrants. Sales have been <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/companies/liquidity-crunch-higher-insurance-costs-impact-two-wheeler-sales-in-dec/article25891881.ece">subdued</a> in recent months - an indication of rural distress since the bulk of <keyword id="6359451" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="motorcycle">motorcycle</keyword> and <keyword id="6359452" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Scooter">scooter</keyword> sales in the country come from outside urban areas. The market is also extremely heated -- incumbents are trying to outperform each other in terms of prices and product launches. But one company, TVS Motor Co, has overcome these hurdles with relative ease, posting a revenue growth of 26% in the quarter ended December 2018. That is well above the industry average of 8%, according to the company’s FY19 estimates shared over a recent conference call. The uptick is largely attributable to the Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer’s improved product mix and a surge in export volumes, due in part to the rupee’s weakness and consolidation in markets like The Philippines, which it also serves. The company has also been rolling out a number of new models -- the Radeon motorcycle, the Jupiter Grand and Ntorq scooters as well as the latest version of the Apache motorcycle, which was a play at the growing premium segment. The fuel-efficient Radeon, in particular, was launched to meet the needs of commuters in rural India. Sales of the 110cc motorcycle, which currently clocks in 11,000 units a month, are expected to double, the company said on the analyst call. Priced at around ₹50,000, it is also a value play for cost-conscious commuters between the age of 25 and 35. When compared to other popular mid-sized commuter bikes like the <keyword id="7029" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero">Hero</keyword> Splendor Plus and <keyword id="6358511" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bajaj">Bajaj</keyword> Platina, which are similarly priced, the Radeon stands out because it’s the latest entrant to the segment, it’s comfortable and boasts a better design, according to Sanjay Sharma, who runs KK Automobiles, a dealership in the Najafgarh on the outskirts of New Delhi. While its other models fare well for different reasons: At ₹86,000, the updated Apache was priced below its immediate competitors in the premium racing category - The Yamaha FZ and <keyword id="20630" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Honda">Honda</keyword> CB Hornet, both of which are a little under ₹1 lakh. Meanwhile, its smart scooter brand, the Ntorq, which was launched last February and is priced at a little over ₹60,000, carries a premium as it also India’s first smart scooter, meaning it allows pairing with smartphones. TVS has reportedly <a href="https://www.carblogindia.com/tvs-ntorq-sales/">sold over 20,000 </a>units of the scooter per month in the second half of the year, according to Car Blog India. Clearly pricing has been a strong selling point for TVS in recent months. However, going forward, it may be difficult to keep these products as affordable as they are. The company has already raised prices by an average of 0.9% between April and December 2018. TVS may have to contend higher raw material prices and marketing costs to stay ahead of rising competition, which could potentially trigger a price hike or crimp margins. A government regulation mandating the installation of an anti-lock braking system that comes into force in April could escalate costs further. Onida Fire TV Edition features The Onida Fire TV Edition smart TVs have been launched in two variants – a 32-inch variant and a bigger 43-inch variant. The 32-inch TV features a HD display and the 43-inch TV features a Full HD display. The Onida Fire TV Edition smart TVs feature several OTT apps like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Sony Liv, Hotstar, YouTube, Zee 5 and more. As this is not an Android TV, you will not find the Google Play Store on this TV. However, we expect the TV to ship with an App store to download third-party apps. In terms of connectivity, both the TVs will feature three HDMI ports, one USB port and one ethernet port. You will also get a voice remote with Alexa support for the TVs. A Mini LED TV is a liquid crystal display (LCD) TV that uses tiny LED chips that generally range from 100 to 200 micrometers in size for its backlights. The product offers better brightness, higher contrast ratio and lower power consumption compared to conventional LCD TVs with regular LEDs. The industry observers said this year would be a breakout year for the Mini LED TV market as multiple TV makers would launch such products, reports Yonhap news agency. "Yearly Mini LED backlight TV shipments are projected to reach 4.4 million units for 2021, a 2 per cent penetration rate in the overall TV market, as brands begin integrating Mini LED backlights into their TVs and continue to improve technologies as well as optimize costs," said industry research firm 'TrendForce'. Of the two South Korean electronic giants, LG first introduced its Mini LED TV on December 29, combining its quantum dot and NanoCell technologies. The company said its new QNED Mini LED TV lineup comprises 10 models offering both 4K and 8K options with large screen sizes upto 87 inches. "LG's innovative Mini LED backlighting comprises up to nearly 30,000 tiny LEDs that produce incredible peak brightness and a contrast ratio of 10,00,000:1," the company added. "Thanks to a new panel structure enhanced by LG's advanced Mini LED backlighting, these TVs deliver a truly immersive viewing experience in the LCD space." <keyword id="10591" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> threw its hat into the ring on Thursday by introducing the <keyword id="10573403" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="neo-qled-tv">Neo QLED TV</keyword> that uses Quantum Mini LED. "Samsung designed the Quantum Mini LED to be 1/40 the height of a conventional LED," the company said. "The Quantum Mini LED has incredibly thin micro layers filled with many more LEDs." Samsung's Neo QLED TV also comes with Quantum Matrix technology that provides a 12-bit luminance scale with 4096 steps, which delivers a more precise and immersive viewing experience, and its Neo Quantum Processor that utilises artificial intelligence (AI) upscaling technology for optimised picture quality. Samsung said the Neo QLED TV would be available in 8K and 4K models and would be launched from the first quarter of the year. The industry insiders said Samsung and LG's launch of Mini LED TVs would push the two sides to go head-to-head in the premium TV market. In recent years, Samsung and LG have been locking horns over QLED TV and OLED TV which are different types of TVs. LG has been claiming that Samsung's QLED TV is merely a <keyword id="45114" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="LCD-TV">LCD TV</keyword> with a backlight panel that has an additional quantum dot (QD) sheet, while Samsung has been pointing out that LG's OLED TV has a problem of gradual degradation of pixels, also referred to as "burn-in" as the product uses organic material. The observers said the introduction of the Mini LED TV would help Samsung to defend its status as the world's top TV vendor until the company rolls out its premium TV sets with next-generation QD-OLED displays. According to data from market researcher Omdia, Samsung led the global TV market with a share of 33.1% in the third quarter of 2020 in terms of sales revenue. LG was the runner-up with a market share of 16.6%. "Samsung is hoping to increase the market share of its QLED TVs which are much more cost-competitive than OLED TVs via the integration of Mini LED backlights," TrendForce said in its recent report. "Samsung is targeting yearly shipments of more than two million Mini LED TVs next year in anticipation of high market demand." For LG, its Mini LED TVs are expected to boost the company's premium TV sales considering that they would come with more affordable prices than its flagship OLED TV. "With OLED at the pinnacle of LG's TV offerings with its self-lit pixels and independent dimming control, the arrival of LG's QNED Mini LED TVs offers a compelling option for consumers," LG said. The industry observers said the Mini LED market is expected to grow sharply over the coming years. According to market tracker Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), sales of Mini LED TVs are expected to reach nearly 10 million units in 2022 and above 15 million units in 2024. Samsung and LG to go head-to-head with Mini LED TVs in 2021

New Delhi, Dec 11 () Amazon has partnered Onida to bring Fire TV edition smart TVs in India, a move aimed at helping the e-commerce company further strengthen its position in the booming consumer durable market in the country.
 The Fire TV edition smart TVs were first introduced by Amazon in 2018 in the US and Canada. Earlier this year, the company expanded the range to the UK, Germany and Austria in collaborations with Dixons Carphone, MediaMarktSaturn, and Grundig.
 "We have seen great momentum to the Fire TV edition smart TVs so far. India has been a very important market for our streaming product and we are seeing great uptake of it from across the country. We are confident of a similar response to the TVs also," Sandeep Gupta, Vice President (Fire TV Devices and Experiences) told .
 He didn't comment on the targeted sales.
 Amazon works on a licensing model for the Fire TV smart television sets. It has partnered with Onida to roll out products in India and is open to working with other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well.
 "The Onida Fire TV Edition has the Fire TV experience built-in, enabling customers to easily find and watch movies and TV shows from Prime Video, Hotstar, Netflix and others. We are launching two variants and will continue to look at opportunities to expand the range," he said.
 Currently, Amazon sells Fire TV streaming sticks in India. The company claims that Fire TV is the numero uno streaming media player in the US, UK, Germany, India, and Japan across all retailers.
 Apart from Fire TV, Amazon also offers a range of Echo (smart speakers) and Kindle (e-book) devices in India.
 In the third quarter, Amazon had announced that it has over 37 million active users on Fire TV globally. It does not provide country-specific numbers.
 "Onida is excited to work with Amazon to bring the Fire TV experience to India. We have over 38 years of experience building TVs in India and the Onida Fire TV Edition brings superior picture quality and sound output to customers, at affordable prices," Sunil Shankar Business Head MIRC Electronics Ltd (Onida) said.
 The Onida Fire TV smart TVs would be available in two variants -- 32-inch (Rs 12,999) and 43-inch (Rs 21,999). These will be available on the Amazon.in platform from December 20.
 These full HD TVs come with built-in WiFi, 3 HDMI ports, 1 USB port and 1 earphone port.
 The move will also intensify competition with Walmart-backed Flipkart that sells smart TVs through its MarQ brand. Flipkart has recently partnered with Motorola and Nokia to make television sets for them.
 Over the last few years, new brands like Micromax, Intex, Xiaomi, Detel and Vu have taken the television market in India by storm, competing against giants like Samsung, Sony and LG. SR DRR
