New Delhi, Companies in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> are expected to dole out an average of 10 per cent salary increase this year, with automobile, manufacturing and engineering sectors anticipated to witness the highest hikes, says a survey. In 2023, the average salary hike was 9.5 per cent, according to consultancy firm <keyword id="20234986" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mercer" source="keywords">Mercer</keyword>'s Total Remuneration Survey (<keyword id="20176169" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="trs" source="keywords">TRS</keyword>) released on Tuesday. "This trend showcases India's strong economic performance and its growing appeal as a hub for innovation and talent. Employees in the automobile, manufacturing &amp; engineering and life sciences in India are projected to see the highest salary increment increases, highlighting the competitive nature of these sectors," it said. The survey, conducted between May and August 2023, gathered data from 1,474 companies, covering more than 6,000 job roles and representing more than 21 lakh employees. It focused on salary trends across various industries, with individual performance, organisation performance and position in salary range being the top three factors determining increments. The median merit salary increments in India are expected to reach 10 per cent in 2024, which was on top of a 9.5 per cent increase in 2023, the survey said. In India, it said the rate of voluntary attrition has shown a gradual increase from 12.1 per cent in 2021 to 13.5 per cent in 2022. Companies to dole out 10% average salary hike this year, says survey

Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (<keyword id="43749" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="TRS">TRS</keyword>) has consolidated its position in the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency, the counting trend showed on Sunday. After 11 rounds of counting, <keyword id="11074436" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="nomula-bhagat">Nomula Bhagat</keyword> of the TRS was leading by 9,034 votes over his nearest rival K. Jana Reddy of the <keyword id="1571" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress-party">Congress party</keyword>. The TRS candidate polled 38,924 votes while Jana Reddy secured 29,890 votes. Counting of votes polled in the April 17 bypoll began Sunday morning. The counting was taking place in two large halls, each with seven tables. About 400 officials were involved in counting and related activity. Officials expect the counting to be completed in 25 rounds. The constituency had witnessed 86.18 per cent polling on April 17 despite the Covid-19 surge. Out of the 2.20 lakh voters, 1.89 lakh had cast their votes. As many as 41 candidates, including three women, contested the bypoll, which was necessitated due to the death of sitting legislator Nomula <keyword id="240868" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narasimhaiah">Narasimhaiah</keyword> of the TRS. The ruling party fielded Narasimhaiah's son Nomula Bhagat, a debutant who took on veteran <keyword id="1575" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> leader and seven-time MLA Jana Reddy. In 2018, Nomula Narasimhaiah had won the seat by defeating Jana Reddy of the Congress by about 8,000 votes. Nomula polled 83,655 votes while Jana Reddy had garnered 75,884 votes. BJP's K. Niveditha Reddy had polled only 2,675 votes. The TRS had polled 46.34 per cent votes while the Congress secured 42.04 per cent vote and the BJP could get only 1.48 per cent votes. TRS candidate Nomula Bhagat is now leading by over 9,000 votes

H0yderabad, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday announced 30 per cent salary hike for all the government employees and teachers under the 11th Pay Revision Commission (PRC). He told the <keyword id="6671774" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-legislative-assembly">State Legislative Assembly</keyword> that the orders will come into force with effect from April 1, 2021. He also announced raising the superannuation age for employees and teachers up to 61 years. In 2018 election manifesto, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (<keyword id="43749" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="TRS">TRS</keyword>) had promised to increase retirement age from 58 to 61 years. The salary hike will benefit around 9.17 lakh employees working the state. Unlike in the past when pay revision was given to only regular employees, the government decided to implement the PRC recommendations for contract and outsourcing employees, homeguards, Anganwadi and <keyword id="6402431" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="asha">ASHA</keyword> workers, SERP employees, Vidya Volunteers, <keyword id="6398301" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="KGBV">KGBV</keyword> and <keyword id="53505" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SSA">SSA</keyword> employees, grant-in-aid, work charged and daily wage employees. KCR, as Rao is popularly known, announced increasing the gratuity at retirement for the employees from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. The government also decided to to reduce the age limit from 75 years to 70 years for 15 per cent additional quantum of pension to the retired government employees and teachers. The government has decided to extend family pension policy to the family members of the CPS (Contributory Pension Scheme) employees who died while on duty. The chief minister said the government employees, teachers who played an inspirational role in achieving Telangana state, are participating with same commitment in the development of own state and with their co-operation, the fruits of welfare and development are reaching the people successfully. "In view of inexhaustible relation the government is having with employees, Telangana government is acting as employee's friendly government. It respects the rights of all employees," he said. KCR recalled that after the formation of Telangana state, his government announced special increment by appreciating role played by employees in the movement. By revising the 10th pay scales in 2014 by announcing the highest hike of 43 per cent, Telangana government showed its admiration it has on employees of state. He said as the Covid-19 pandemic shattered the state economy leading to unexpected fiscal deficit, 11th pay revision was delayed. KCR said while revising the pay scales of government employees, the government kept in view the necessities and situations of other employees who are rendering their services at ground level and increased their pays scales with a humanitarian perspective. "This time also government by revising the pay scales of employees, teachers and pensioners, took a decision to increase the salaries of contract employees, outsourcing employees, Home Guards, Anganwadis, Asha Workers, SERP Employees, Vidya Volunteers, KGBV, Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan employees, VRAs, VAOs, Grant in Aid, Work charged, daily wage and other employees i.e., totalling about 9,17,797 employees who are working as part of Government machinery," he said. Stating that 80 per cent of promotion process of employees is completed, he said the government will immediately start the promotion process of remaining eligible employees along with eligible teachers. Government will shortly start the process of filling of vacancies created by promotions. He also announced that the government has constituted a steering committee with employees associations, government officials as stake holders for evolving the new modalities of Employees Health Scheme (EHS) as per the PRC committee recommendations. He said the government will give permission to the Andhra Pradesh teachers who are working in the Telangana to return to their home state. The government has decided to provide 180 days maternity leave along with wages to the KGBV Women Staff.

When the country began its first phase of polling on April 11, 2019, Telangana voted from all its constituencies. Telangana gave a sweeping victory to the <keyword id="43749" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="TRS">TRS</keyword> during the assembly polls last year. The party is not facing the elections with the same enthusiasm given by the overwhelming victory. The state sees a triangular contest and the other parties in opposition namely the Congress and the BJP are now focusing on a select few seats hoping to win them for the parliament. The Nizamabad constituency has claimed the maximum amount of attention from the whole of the country as there are 185 candidates lined up to try their luck during 2019 Lok Sabha elections, all of them eagerly waiting for the results. More than 170 of these contesting candidates are farmers. The present ballot units of the EVMs can fit in only 16 candidates and hence the election commission had set up 12 ballot units in all the polling booths of the Nizamabad constituency to record the votes by the electors. Telangana Lok Sabha Election Result 2019: TRS wins the state with 9 seats

Telangana CM <keyword id="80355" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="K-Chandrasekhar-Rao">K Chandrasekhar Rao</keyword> is now in trouble as a case has been registered against him for alleged illegal tapping of phone calls of his Andhra Pradesh counterpart <keyword id="6354350" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chandrababu-Naidu">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> in the wake of the cash-for-votes scam. 
 

	The case has been registered against KCR under Sections 464, 647, 471, 166, 167 and 120/B of IPC, according to a PTI report. 
	 

	Inspector of III-Town Police Station, B Tirumala Rao, said a Vizag-based advocate NVV Prasad has lodged a complaint against KCR for violating the basic rights of the Andhra Pradesh chief minister and "tarnishing" his image by tapping his telephone lines. 
	 

	In his complaint, the assistant Public Prosecutor accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of deliberately trying to snoop on Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members. 
	 

	Meanwhile, a conversation in an audio tape between Chandrababu Naidu and nominated MLA Elvys Stephenson, aired in a section of local TV channels has given a new twist to the cash-for-votes controversy. The conversation suggested that the <keyword id="209302" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Andhra-chief-minister">Andhra chief minister</keyword> was giving "assurance of all sorts" to the MLA if he votes for TDP nominee in the Telangana Legislative Council election. Prabhakar further alleged that the <keyword id="541763" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Telangana-Government">Telangana government</keyword> is only trying to malign the image of Naidu by resorting to such cheap tactics. "It is not the chief minister's conversation. How come they are available outside. The Telangana government has to give answer to this. The Telangana CM and home minister should give answers," Parakala said.

The barbed wires at the Assembly, secretariat and the Raj Bhavan, which were common sights for more than three years, were replaced with flags and hoardings all over Hyderabad on the occasion of <keyword id="68884" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword>’s inception as a new state. 
 
Telangana, India’s 29th state, came into existence after about 60 years of unhappy merger with Andhra Pradesh in 1956. Telangana supporters celebrated the occasion, raising the slogan 'Jai Telangana.’ 
 
About 300 reportedly had lost their lives in the Telangana movement. 
 Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (<keyword id="43749" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="TRS">TRS</keyword>) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao will be sworn in as the chief minister of Telangana today. TRS had won 63 of the 119 Assembly seats in Telangana. 
 
Before Rao takes oath as the chief minister of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan, who has been given additional charge of Telangana, will himself have to take the oath. 
 
31 IPS and 41 IAS officers have been nominated to the Telangana cadre. Chief Secretary PK Mohanty reviewed all arrangements regarding creation of the new state. 
 
The chief secretary also issued orders to 9,893 state government employees to continue working in Telangana as per the 'order to serve' clause to maintain administration in Telangana.

NEW DELHI: Though exit polls predict BJP may not need to fish for allies, the party is looking to keep lines of communication open with regional parties like BJD, Telangana Rashtra Samithi and YSR <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword>. 
 
BJP leaders feel these parties can be part of a “greater NDA” either as formal allies or outside supporters and help boost the new government’s numbers while weakening anti-BJP numbers in Parliament. 
 
Such an outreach was very much part of BJP’s plans, but discussions with RSS (reported by TOI on Monday) have given the efforts a fillip as the party looks to widen its representation in the new Lok Sabha. 
 
RSS’s advice that it would be useful to deny Congress likely allies and deepen the party’s isolation matches BJP’s own assessment that adding partners would be useful in shepherding legislation through the upper House in particular. 
 While YSR Congress chief <keyword id="6357475" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jaganmohan-Reddy">Jaganmohan Reddy</keyword> is a bitter rival of BJP’s partner TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in Seemandhra, the saffron party feels a working arrangement may still be viable. 
 
Jaganmohan’s relations with Congress had worsened ahead of elections and BJP leaders feel being an outside supporter of an NDA government may not be as difficult a task as might appear at first glance. 
 On his part, Jaganmohan has indicated he may have no qualms about supporting <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> as prime minister and BJP leaders feel state-level equations need not be a hurdle at the Centre. 
 <keyword id="78324" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="TRS-chief">TRS chief</keyword> K Chandrasekhar Rao has not been averse to doing business with BJP and talks were on till as late as April before the saffron party finalized its poll tie-up with TDP. 
 
KCR’s top priority is to secure the Telangana prize by forming the first state government in India’s 29th state and would not want to be on the wrong side of the Centre as long as he has the numbers in the state assembly. 
 
The astute TRS chief can be expected to weigh the situation keeping in mind whether he needs Congress in the new Telangana assembly or can make do on his own. 
 
Allying with BJP does not pose problems for TRS as the former has strongly supported Telangana and has been committed to smaller states. In contrast, KCR adroitly avoided a merger or even an alliance with Congress as he sensed the ruling party’s diminished electoral equity. 
 
In the case of BJD, BJP ensured its channels with Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik remained open before and during the elections despite strongly challenging the regional party’s hold on the state. 
 
Having been given a scare by BJP, Patnaik may now be inclined to renew his ties with the party he broke with in 2009, delivering a severe blow to LK Advani’s prime ministerial candidature. 
 
More importantly, Patnaik will need a stake in the Centre to convince voters that it is worth their while to support BJD with BJP aggressively looking to replace Congress as the main opposition. 
 
BJP leaders feel the BJD ranks high on their list as a potential ally and can help the party mop up the anti-Congress space.
