Passengers flying out of Delhi will now have to pay less with the aviation regulatory body slashing the user development fee (UDF) on domestic as well international flights from here. Domestic passengers departing from the <keyword id="87543" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indira-Gandhi-International">Indira Gandhi International</keyword> airport will now have to pay a UDF of Rs 10, as against the levy of Rs 275-550 earlier. International passengers will have to pay Rs 45, down from Rs 635-1,270. Both domestic and international passengers landing in Delhi will not have to pay the UDF anymore. This translates into a saving of Rs 233-466 for the former and that of Rs 518-1,048 for the latter. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the country's aviation watchdog notified the revised tariff order today. Significantly, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the joint venture company which operates <keyword id="114637" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IGIA">IGIA</keyword>, had sought 42.6 per cent hike in airport charges. <keyword id="450511" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airports-Economic-Regulatory-Authority">Airports Economic Regulatory Authority</keyword> had ordered this steep cut in December 2015 but its implementation was pending because the Delhi airport operator had approached the court against the slashing of charges. <keyword id="2573" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Air-India">Air India</keyword> challenged this in the <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword>, which on 3 July vacated a stay granted by the Delhi high court, paving the way for revised tariffs to be implemented.

The project is likely to roll out from mid-August and will be implemented across all three terminals of the airport. For trial purposes, seven motorable wheelchairs have already been put to use and the officials say that the feedback has been positive so far. The capacity of one wheelchair is 250kg. It can accommodate a passenger and his/her check-in baggage and needs to be pushed around by a wheelchair assistant. While most of these are manual, some wheelchairs are also automated. However, the number of automated or manual wheelchairs will depend upon the market demand for them. <keyword id="114636" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-International-Airport-Limited">Delhi International Airport Limited</keyword> (DIAL) have appointed <keyword id="6752877" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="M/S-Aviaxpert-Aviation-Pvt-Ltd">M/S Aviaxpert Aviation Pvt Ltd</keyword> as a concessionary to provide wheelchair services at the airport which will procure the wheelchairs from a European manufacturer. The firm is expected to increase the number of chairs depending upon the requirements of each airline. The services are managed with the help of vital software that helps locate passengers’ whereabouts within the airport until they board the flight.

Lucknow, Dec 16 () The conditional letter of award pertaining to the Noida International Greenfield Airport, Jewar, was handed over to CEO of Zurich Airport International AG Daniel Bircher on Monday here, the UP government said.
"In the presence of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, conditional letter of award pertaining to the Noida International Greenfield Airport, Jewar, was handed over to CEO of Zurich Airport International AG Daniel Bircher by UP Chief Secretary RK Tiwari," it said in a statement.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the development of the airport will be done in a time-bound manner.
On Dec 9, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved Zurich Airport International as developer for Jewar airport.
The formal approval of the Uttar Pradesh government comes after a bidding process in which Zurich Airport beat Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Adani Enterprises and Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings Limited on Nov 29.
The winning bid was then put up before the project monitoring and implementation committee (PMIC) of the state government, before being forwarded to the Cabinet.
"Four bids had come for the airport. On the basis of weighted averages, Zurich Airport International was chosen," UP minister Siddharth Nath Singh had then said.
The Swiss firm offered a premium of Rs 400.97 per passenger to the government, the highest among the bidders. "We are of the view that the construction work for Jewar airport will begin in February next year," the minister had said.
The airport in Gautam Buddh Nagar district will be the third in the National Capital Region after Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and Ghaziabad's Hindon.
The Jewar Airport or the Noida International Greenfield Airport will be spread over 5,000 hectares when fully built at an estimated to cost Rs 29,560 crore, officials have said.
It is expected to have six to eight runways, the maximum at an airport in India, when fully built. The first phase of the airport would be spread over 1,334 hectares and completed by 2023,, according to officials.
