While revenue is in line with expectations, weaker than expected margins and slower hiring is a concern, says analysts <a href="https://twitter.com/CNBCTV18Live/status/1488700416942829568">reportedly</a> at UBS investment banking firm. It also maintained a ‘sell’ rating on the stock with a target price of ₹1,260 per share. Adding to it, more employees are leaving Tech Mahindra than TCS and Wipro in an industry that is struggling with a high attrition rate. However, Tech Mahindra is not the only firm struggling with high attrition, every other IT firm is getting more resignations than ever before. More employees are leaving Infosys, Tech Mahindra than TCS and Wipro

<ul><li>One of the top five IT services companies, <keyword id="43217" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tech-mahindra" source="Orion">Tech Mahindra</keyword> reported a 25% decline in net profit for April-June quarter.</li><li>The management attributed the decline in profitability to rising employee benefits costs, which includes promotions and salary hikes.</li><li>However, high spending towards retaining employees by giving hikes and promotions has paid off the firm’s attrition rate, which has come down to 22% from 24% last quarter.</li><li>Tech Mahindra’s attrition is still better than peers Infosys (28.4%) and TCS (23.3%).</li></ul>A fourth of Tech Mahindra’s first quarter revenues were eaten up by employee expenses, pushing its profits down by 25% on a sequential basis. The company’s CEO C P Gurnani says that this wage hike has reduced its attrition by 2% from last quarter, and predicts that it will reduce by another 4% in six months. But when asked for specifics, he said, “Attrition is as hard to predict as death,” at the post-earnings press conference. Its total income grew marginally by around 3% to ₹12,830 crore sequentially. Its constant currency revenue growth stood at 3.5%, the company said in its press release. “We are confident that we will be presenting to you continuously over the next few quarters industry leading growth. We are also confident that we will have an opportunity to work on the profitability levers,” said Gurnani. High spending towards retaining employees by giving hikes and promotions has aided as Tech Mahindra’s attrition rate has come down to 22% from 24% last quarter. If it’s able to keep up with its predictions, in the next two quarters, it could come down to 18%. Tech Mahindra’s attrition is still better than peers Infosys which is at 28.4% and that of TCS at 23.3%. Attrition is as hard to predict as death says C P Gurnani after TechM loses profits to wage hikes

IT major <keyword id="43217" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tech-Mahindra">Tech Mahindra</keyword> on Monday posted a 34.6 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to ₹1,081.4 crore for the March 2020 <keyword id="6545597" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="quarter">quarter</keyword>. Its net profit stood at ₹803.9 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, Tech Mahindra said in a regulatory filing. The Mumbai-based company saw its <keyword id="1153513" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="consolidated-revenue">consolidated revenue</keyword> from operations increasing 2.5 per cent to ₹9,729.9 crore as against ₹9,490.2 crore in the year-ago quarter, it added. For the full financial year, the net profit was up 9.8 per cent to ₹4,428 crore, while revenue from operations was higher by 2.7 per cent to ₹37,855.1 crore as compared to 2019-20. Tech Mahindra Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer C P Gurnani said, "Our continued focus on cutting-edge technologies has expanded client engagement with large deal wins this quarter. We are witnessing a strong demand acceleration." He added that the health and wellness of Tech Mahindra associates and community at large. <keyword id="1118568" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Milind-Kulkarni">Milind Kulkarni</keyword>, chief financial officer at Tech Mahindra, said the company has witnessed substantial margin improvement and cash flow generation during the year. "Our focus on delivery transformation will continue, as we increasingly witness a structural shift towards digital to adapt to the new normal. We are positioned uniquely to gain from this shift, while improving our financial and operating metrics going forward," he added. The board of directors have recommended a final dividend of ₹30 per share (including <keyword id="1729046" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="special-dividend">special dividend</keyword> of ₹15 per share) for the financial year ended March 31, 2021, subject to shareholder approval. The special and final dividend, if approved, will be paid by August 11, 2021. This dividend is in addition to the special dividend of ₹15 per share paid as interim dividend. The total dividend for 2020-21 will be ₹45, the filing said. Tech Mahindra has also announced the acquisition of Eventus Solutions Group, a US-based consulting and technology service company. The acquisition will help Tech Mahindra bolster its consulting capabilities in customer experience (CX) and customer management space and move up the value chain in the BPS business. Tech Mahindra's total headcount stood at 1,21,054 at the end of March 2021 quarter, down 847 from the preceding quarter. Tech Mahindra Q4 net profit jumps 34.6% to ₹1,081.4 crore

New Delhi, Jan 31 () IT services firm Tech Mahindra on Friday reported a 4.7 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit at Rs 1,145.9 crore for the December 2019 quarter.
 The Mumbai-based firm had registered a net profit (attributable to owners of the company) at Rs 1,202.9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal, Tech Mahindra said in a statement.
 However, its revenue from operations grew 7.9 per cent to Rs 9,654.6 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 8,943.7 crore in the year-ago period, it added.
 Earnings per share (EPS) was at Rs 13.13. In dollar terms, the net profit was up 1.3 per cent sequentially to USD 160.6 million, while revenue grew 5.1 per cent to USD 1,353 million in the said quarter.
 This is a quarter of strong growth across the company's Communications and Enterprise businesses, Tech Mahindra Managing Director and CEO C P Gurnani said.
 "We continue to win marquee deals and are well poised to capitalise on new market opportunities with technology shifts like 5G, which continues to be a key focus area in the year ahead," he added.
 The company's total headcount was at 1,30,839 people, a reduction of 683 people from the September 2019 quarter.
 The company witnessed substantial operational and financial metrics improvement with healthy cash flow generation this quarter, Manoj Bhat, chief financial officer at Tech Mahindra said.
 "We continue to invest in emerging technologies and streamline delivery as we ready ourselves for the next phase of growth," he added.
 Tech Mahindra also announced the acquisition of 70 per cent stake in Bengaluru-headquartered Cerium Systems.
 "Cerium will boost the company's Engineering Services practice in VLSI (very large scale integration) and Embedded Software.
 "We continue to invest in niche digital assets complementing our service offerings. Cerium provides cutting edge solutions with a strong foothold in global semiconductor industry," Tech Mahindra Head of Corporate Development and Portfolio Companies Vivek Agarwal said.

New Delhi, Apr 30 () IT services firm Tech Mahindra on Thursday reported 29 per cent fall in consolidated net profit at Rs 803.9 crore for the March quarter, 2019-20.The firm had logged a profit of Rs 1,132.5 crore in the year-ago same period, Tech Mahindra said in a statement.The net profit (excluding impairment) was at Rs 1,021 crore. Revenue during the latest quarter stood at Rs 9,490.2 crore, up 6.7 per cent from Rs 8,892.3 crore in the year-ago period, as per Indian Accounting Standards.Earnings per share (EPS) was at Rs 9.14 for the March quarter.For 2019-20, the company's net profit was at Rs 4,033 crore, while revenue was at Rs 36,867.7 crore. COVID-19 has brought an unprecedented change in business model for the IT industry, Tech Mahindra Managing Director and CEO CP Gurnani said."While the demand traction seen through the first three quarters of Fiscal 19-20 has reversed in Q4, we expect that the focus on Digital Transformation, Remote Working, and Network Modernisation will recover in the medium term," he said.He added that the company has shown a strong growth for FY20 and remains committed to deliver sustainable solutions to customers enabling them to adopt to the "new normal".Manoj Bhat, Chief Financial Officer of Tech Mahindra, said the fourth quarter saw some of its metrics being impacted by the environmental challenges. "Efficient operations, cost optimisation and delivery automation will be the key focus areas going into the next year," he added.Bhat said the company's strong balance-sheet combined with a focus on cash conservation will help it "tide over the volatility in near term" as it looks to emerge stronger and leaner to capture opportunities ahead.Its total headcount was at over 1.25 lakh, up by 4,154 year-on-year. Tech Mahindra Q4 net falls 29 pc to Rs 804 cr

New Delhi, May 10 () IT company Tech Mahindra expects 5G rollout, demand for home connectivity and digitisation will drive business growth in the coming days, senior officials of the company said.The company expects short term setbacks for businesses due to coronavirus pandemic, however, telecom clients will support the business growth. "There will be some headwinds, and those headwinds will be common to everybody, but company continues to innovate, continues to leverage every of my acquisition and certain businesses where the expansion is likely to happen faster, for example, digital, for example, healthcare, we are doing a double click or a double drilling," Tech Mahindra MD and CEO CP Gurnani said in an investors call.According to the details uploaded on the company's website, 93 per cent employees in the company's IT team and around 85 per cent in the business process services were working from home after the lockdown was announced.Tech Mahindra CEO for Network Services Manish Vyas said that major service providers continue to remain focused on investment in network expansion and 5G services."The new workspace is clearly shifting more towards the home and that is something telcos, particularly the large ones who have been incumbents, they are all going to be looking at that product mix and all looking at digitisation and strengthening the product mix with home as the new access of growth," Vyas said.He said that a lot of discussions are going on telecom players towards digitisation of homes.During the lockdown, most of the employees across businesses are working from home.IT major TCS has already announced plans to allow 75 per cent of employees to work from home by 2025.Tech Mahindra in the quarter ended March 31, 2020 reported 29 per cent dip in the March quarter consolidated net profit at Rs 803.9 crore owing to narrowing of margins due to factors including a surge in COVID-19 related costs.For the 2019-20 financial year, the Mahindra group company reported 6.15 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 4,033 crore. In December quarter, the profit stood at Rs 1,145.9 crore.Gurnani said that the company continued to book businesses in March and teams both in the US and India were very active and they booked some good businesses."We are confident that the company is in a war mode, our teams are warriors and we will fight and we will fight back," he said. Tech Mahindra expects 5G, home connectivity to drive growth

Pune, May 10 () IT Services firm Tech Mahindra hasbeen issued a notice by the office of the Labour Commissioner,Pune, in Maharashtra on a complaint that the company hadreduced salaries of its employees to maintain "profitability'in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.A similar notice was issued earlier this month toanother IT firm, Wipro Technologies Ltd, on a complaintalleging that the firm was benching its employees.National Information Technology Employees Senate(NITES), an organisation working for the welfare and benefitsof employees in IT industry, had approached the LabourCommissioner's Office, claiming that they have receivedcomplaints from employees of Tech Mahindra, Pune, regardingthe reduction in salaries to maintain the "profitability ofthe business" under the COVID-19 pandemic."The company had also notified its employees throughan email on May 6 that the shift allowance, which is betweenRs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per employee, will be stopped from May1," the complaint letter from NITES reads.The application further claimed that because of thisdecision, payment of over 13,000 employees of Tech Mahindra isreduced.The NITES sought appropriate legal action against TechMahindra stating that the firm has violated the Maharashtragovernment's directions, rules and regulations.In a notice issued on the same date, officials in theLabour Commissioner's Office directed the firm to go throughthe state government's resolution dated March 31, 2020, andtake appropriate steps and release the salaries for March andApril and to inform the labour commissioner's office.The notice, signed by Nikhil Walke, Assistant LabourCommissioner, asked the firm not to terminate employees orreduce the salaries, and further stated that otherwise legalaction will be taken.Tech Mahindra Spokesperson said, "The shift allowancepaid for hardship due to travel to work at odd hours and otherout of pocket expenses, continues to be paid to all TechMahindra associates, who are coming to the office or are atclient locations as per policy."Our focus remains to ensure the well-being of ourassociates, customers and partner eco-system while maintainingbusiness continuity".Meanwhile, in its notice dated May 1 to WiproTechnologies Ltd on an NITES complaint that the company wasbenching its employees, the Pune Labour Commissioner Officeasked the IT firm to respond and not terminate any employees.Harpreet Saluja, general secretary, NITES, said theyhad approached the labour commissioner's office after theyreceived complaints from employees of WIPRO BPO, located inHinjewadi regarding employees being put on the bench tomaintain profitability."The company also notified the employees on April 23that they are on the bench with immediate effect. Because ofthis (the decision of the company) the pay and jobs of morethan 300 employees are at risk," the complaint reads.A statement from Wipro Limited stated that thespeculation related to the workforce is unfounded and has nobasis."Wipro categorically denies these rumours. There areno salary cuts for employees who are in between projects andare awaiting new assignments. Also, the company wants toreiterate that there are no retrenchment plans. Wipro haswell-defined policies and people practices in place to takecare of its employees," the statement reads.It further stated that Wipro is yet to receive anycommunication from the Labour Department.The company will present the facts before thedepartment, as and when required. The Mahindra Group company posted a net profit of Rs 493.9 crore in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing. Revenue rose by 3.49 per cent to Rs 13,313.2 crore in the second quarter of 2024-25 compared to Rs 12,863.9 crore in the same quarter of 2023-24. "Other income includes gain on sale of property of Rs 4,502 million which comprises of freehold land and its related buildings along with the furniture &amp; fixtures sold for a consideration of Rs 5,350 million, receivable over a period of four years along with interest of 8.2 per cent p.a," the company filing said. Sequentially, net profit rose by 46.81 per cent and revenue by 2.36 per cent. "We continue to progress on our strategic improvement efforts even as the overall IT services industry has remained soft. "We have focused on strengthening client relationships and expanding the partner ecosystem while maintaining a sharp focus on operational excellence through project Fortius, which has resulted in an expansion of margins for the third sequential quarter," Tech Mahindra CEO Mohit Joshi said. The CEO unveiled Project Fortius in April, a three-year plan to achieve a 15 per cent operating margin with a focus on organic growth. "This quarter we see consistent performance around increasing deal wins, <keyword id="19965932" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue-growth" source="keywords">revenue growth</keyword>, cost optimisation and steady free cash flow generation as we continue our journey towards FY27 stated targets. In line with our capital allocation policy the board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 15 per share," Tech Mahindra CFO Rohit Anand said. "We have invested in strengthening the capabilities in the focus service lines by broadening the leadership and investing in technical specializations. "We continue to invest in strengthening our fresher hiring program, building the right mindset and future skilling and associates, by building capabilities in AI-first and cloud-first skill sets," he told reporters. Investments shall continue in creating and sustaining an outcome-driven learning organisation and cultivating a high-performance culture based on the pillars of simplifying, clarifying, innovating and driving a high-performance orientation, he added. This year could be volatile because we are in the turnaround phase, Joshi said. "I am confident, however, that the platform is being set for a long-term, valuable franchise thanks to a high-calibre and united leadership team and a clearly articulated strategic plan," Joshi said. The Pune-headquartered firm added 6,653 employees during the quarter under review, bringing the total staff count to 1,54,273. Shares of Tech Mahindra settled at Rs 1,688 apiece on the BSE on Friday, down 0.68 per cent from the previous close.
