Within forty days of taking charge as <keyword id="110716" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Taj-Group">Taj Group</keyword>’s chief revenue officer, <keyword id="2900870" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Chinmai-Sharma">Chinmai Sharma</keyword> has announced that the 111-year old hotel chain might launch a mobile app anytime soon<br />

"The aim is to launch an all-encompassing mobile app which will bring all the Taj Group brands under one app and integrate the pre-stay and post-stay experience also on mobile so that we can provide end to end solution to the guests," Sharma told Economic Times.<br />

Online travel search now apportions 40% of its share with mobile market and the graph is expected to go up in near future. India-based hotel chain ITC became the first of its kind to introduce a mobile app for the consumers and an unexpected growth was observed in reservations form the mobile app.<br />

Chinmai Sharma at Taj Group has chalked out a three-year plan to increase investments on digital infrastructure by almost seven times. He is currently forming an army of tech specialists to develop mobile apps, launch new mobile-friendly websites with localized content by the end of this year and drive the overall digital strategy. What this mean is that Indian Hotels will be selling the properties and then taking them up on rent so that the current management stays in place. This is also true with other hotels that are a part of joint ventures or under associate companies, according to Chhatwal.<br /><br />On the other hand, Indian Hotels also opened up three new hotels in key strategic markets like Goa and Agra as per last quarter’s <a href="https://www.ihcltata.com/investors/">earnings report</a>.<br /><br />It has also launched a new hotel brand called ‘SeleQtions’ to up its brand image. Taj Hotels wants to turn asset light with its sell-and-lease-back strategy

<br /> To get rid from commission-raking travel agencies, the <keyword id="49377" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Taj-Group-of-Hotels">Taj group of hotels</keyword> has planned to sign pacts with international chains of hotels, so that their customer loyalty programmes can be made good use of to acquire more clients directly. The pacts and deals would be finalised in the current financial year.<br />

As of now, travel portals eat into the profit margins of hotel chains, which is what has forced them to look for such alternatives. Online agents make up for as much as 20% of the bookings done in hotel chains, which constitute a major part of their business. <br />

"Loyalty can be a silver bullet for us as the cost of customer acquisition in this channel is very low," said Chinmai Sharma, chief revenue officer at Taj Hotels Resorts &amp; Palaces. It was only last year that the Taj group had launched a revamped loyalty programme that had new features and enhancements on hotel stays, food and beverages and spa. Since then, the revenue from the loyalty programme and the enrolments has seen close to 60% growth. <br />

The support from the six directors comes as a surprise as Tata Sons Board had removed Mistry as its chairman owing to his lack of vision and inefficiency.<br />

Mistry, scion of the SP Group, has refused to quit the boards of various group companies.<br />

"We would like to know if the independent directors noted this dichotomy and asked Mistry about the allegation that eroded market value," a source told ET.

He later went on to the US to study psychiatry on a scholarship and started his own practice after obtaining a doctorate.<br />

Unfortunately, he was forced to look at other career options when his practice failed as hardly anyone turned up for a consultation.<br />
His big break came when a Japanese television channel decided to host his ‘holistic lifestyle’ programmes which as time passed became a roaring success and finally money started to roll in.<br />

It was only uphill from there. Balsara later settle in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=singapore&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Singapore</a> where he earned the title of ‘Perfumes king of Asia’ by selling perfumes. In 1991 he decided to come back to India and settled in Delhi.<br />

With a business empire spread across 63 countries, Balsara was one of the richest NRI at the time of his death. He reportedly had Rs 250 crore in his bank account.

New Delhi, Jan 31 () Tata group hospitality arm Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) on Friday reported a 25.37 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 213.17 crore for the quarter ended December 2019.
<p> The company had posted a net profit of Rs 170.03 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, IHCL said in a filing to BSE.
</p><p> Consolidated total income rose to Rs 1,408.91 crore for the quarter under consideration as against Rs 1,337.97 crore for the same period a year ago.
</p><p> "In line with Aspiration 2022, the company reported seven consecutive quarters of consistent and sustained growth," IHCL Managing Director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said.
</p><p> The re-imagined brandscape enabled IHCL to add a record 24 hotels to the development pipeline, he added.
</p><p> The company signed 24 hotels with an inventory of over 2,800 keys in the current financial year. This includes four Taj hotels, two SeleQtions hotels, nine Vivanta hotels and nine Ginger hotels, IHCL said.
</p><p> The company managed to reduce its debt levels further and reported a net debt to EBITDA ratio of 1.76, down from 2.11 (as of FY18/19), it added.
</p><p> Incorporated by the founder of the Tata group, Jamsetji Tata, the company opened its first hotel -- The Taj Mahal Palace, in Bombay in 1903. IHCL has a portfolio of 197 hotels, including 40 under development globally across 4 continents, 12 countries and in over 100 locations.

Mumbai, Apr 3 () The Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) on Friday said the hospitality group is offering rooms for the medical fraternity to stay while they fight the spread of the virus.<p> "During these trying times, we at IHCL are keenly aware of our responsibility towards our community. As a reflection of our commitment, beginning today (Friday), we are offering rooms for the medical fraternity to stay while they combat the spread of the virus," an IHCL spokesperson said in a statement here.</p><p> These rooms will be available across seven of its hotels including Taj Mahal Palace, Taj Lands End, Taj Santacruz, The President, Ginger MIDC Andheri, Ginger Madgaon and Ginger Noida City Center.</p> "We deeply value the contribution from the medical community and will continue to work with them as well as the local authorities as we navigate through this crisis," the spokesperson added.
