Dismayed by several recent changes in school <keyword id="6375423" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="syllabus" source="Orion">syllabus</keyword> related to the weather, <keyword id="6361617" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="climate-change" source="Orion">climate change</keyword>, and even the Indian monsoon, a teachers' body has urged the <keyword id="48505" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ncert" source="Orion">NCERT</keyword> to rethink these deletions from the school environmental syllabus and bring in different facets of the <keyword id="6375923" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="climate" source="Orion">climate</keyword> crisis. Teachers Against the Climate Crisis (<keyword id="14398053" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tacc" source="Orion">TACC</keyword>) has claimed the NCERT has removed an entire chapter on Greenhouse Effect from Class 11 Geography syllabus; an entire chapter on weather, climate weather systems, and water from the Class 7 syllabus; and information about the Indian monsoon from the Class 9 syllabus. TACC, a non-funded, non-party organisation that seeks to promote understanding about climate and has members across universities and research institutions across <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, said it appreciates NCERT's efforts to manage learning deficit in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic by seeking to reduce students' workload by culling material - as explained on its website - however, "none of these concerns apply to fundamental issues such as climate change science, the Indian monsoon, and the other chapters that have been deleted." Stating that the relevant climate change science as being continuously updated via thousands of peer-reviewed papers published each year as well as very important compilations such as the <keyword id="8956" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="intergovernmental-panel" source="Orion">Intergovernmental Panel</keyword> on Climate Change (IPCC's) latest Assessment Reports and India's own report on climate change published by an agency under the <keyword id="158211" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ministry-of-earth-sciences" source="Orion">Ministry of Earth Sciences</keyword>, a statement from TACC said, "It is extremely important that senior school students all over India are conveyed the essence of such updated information in an accessible, easy-to-understand manner." Across the world, including in India, students have been more and more concerned about the drastic changes wrought by environmental degradation, of which climate change is an example. "Young people's actions and interventions are crucial to meeting this most fundamental challenge. This action needs to be predicted upon systematic knowledge of the reality of climate change, its causes, and its enormous reach. Students need to understand the complexity of the climate crisis if they are to respond and engage intelligently with it," TACC said. Class 10 students, however, will no longer be able to learn and be inspired by popular people's movements such as Chipko movement or Narmada Bachao Andolan in their 'Popular Struggles and Movements' lessons since the chapter on them has been taken out of their 'Democratic Politics' syllabus, it said, and urged the NCERT to rethink its decision about deletions of these topics from the environmental syllabi. <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image">AristaArista CEO Jayshree Ullal</div></div></div>On Friday, the tech industry was <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/unworried-investors-love-arista-ipo-2014-6">treated to a successful IPO</a> by a rising-star <keyword id="6356323" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Enterprise">enterprise</keyword> company, Arista Networks.
Arista makes products for computer networks, competing with companies like Cisco and HP.
However, the company's IPO has walked hand-in-hand with a lawsuit from OptumSoft, a startup founded by David Cheriton, who is a co-founder of Arista and its largest stockholder. OptumSoft makes a tool for writing software. It's not unusual that two closely related companies wind up in court. What's odd is that Cheriton is actually Arista's largest shareholder.
His 13.9 million shares, owned by a trust in his name, <a href="http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1596532/000119312514227698/d639957d424b4.htm#toc639957_16">represent a 22% stake. </a>
So he's sort of suing himself.

In talking to sources, reading the lawsuit and counter-suit, reading press reports about the suit, here's what we know about the situation:
OptumSoft and Arista started out as sister companies, sharing office space and working closely together.
OptumSoft makes a software development platform called TACC. Arista used TACC to create the software that runs its products. Arista was granted free use of OptumSoft in exchange for sending OptumSoft any improvements its engineers made to TACC.
OptumSoft's CEO Henk Goosen tells us Arista hasn't lived up to its end of the bargain, and hasn't given back all the improvements made to TACC.
In <a href="http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1596532/000119312514149636/d639957dex993.htm">its countersuit,</a> Arista claims that OptumSoft really wants way more than the tweaks made to TACC. It wants to lay claim to the software Arista created with TACC. <a href="http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1596532/000119312514149636/d639957dex993.htm">It's lawyers argue</a>:
"This case involves an all too common scenario: a successful company about to go public (Arista) sued by a failing company seeking a Hail Mary to rescue it (Optumsoft). The failing company fabricates a claim to own the successful company's intellectual property, in the hope of disrupting the IPO and securing some payoff in the process."
Goosen flat-out denies that, telling us: "We are not asking for anything more than the improvements to our TACC development platform. ... This lawsuit is not all about money. It's about the principal."
If the issue can't be resolved, the two will duke it out in court sometime in August, he says.

The two have been friends for decades. They famously invested $100,000 of seed money apiece in Google. Arista was their third company together.
Cheriton has a reputation for being a tough man, who doesn't care at all about money, and doesn't spend what he has. He's also known for being highly principled and moral.
OptumSoft is his labor of love, representing a his lifetime of research in how to build cloud computing systems, Goosen confirms.
OptumSoft employs 25 people and, with the cloud industry on the rise, is gaining customers beyond Arista, Goosen tells us. TACC helps companies quickly build cloud apps that are easier to manage over time. The company has other customers besides Arista and interest in TACC is growing, he says.
The lawsuit also didn't interfere at all with Arista's IPO. Today, at a closing share price of $55, Cheriton's stake became worth about $764.5 million.
Arista had no additional comments on the lawsuit.
