Digital hub ''Novartis Biome India'' launched in Hyderabad

Exactly a year after inauguration, <keyword id="6354480" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="T-hub">T-Hub</keyword>, India’s largest <keyword id="1428402" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Startup-incubator">startup incubator</keyword> which has waged a startup revolution in Hyderabad is now gearing up to roll out the second phase of its facility. Spread across 3,50,000 square feet, the new wing will be made available to entrepreneurs by mid-2018. 
 The size of the new facility will make it not only India’s but infact the world’s largest incubator, making it at par with Anne Higaldo’s ambitious ‘<keyword id="3847693" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="halle-freyssinet">Halle Freyssinet</keyword>’ in Paris, also spread over 3,50,000 square feet. 
 “The second phase of T-Hub's catalyst building, when opened in 2018, will be the largest such facility in the world. There are many international entrepreneurs, including a few from Israel, who are interested in joining the startup ecosystem in Hyderabad,” revealed <keyword id="210411" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jay-Krishnan">Jay Krishnan</keyword>, CEO of T-Hub. 
 
T-Hub, which operates in a public-private partnership with the government of Telangana and three academic institutions (IIIT-H, ISB and NALSAR) recived an investment of Rs 180 crores for the new facility. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is reportedly going to lay the foundation of the building. 
 Additionally, Krishnan also stated that T-Hub is in the process of creating a technology-driven ‘Sandbox’ which will act as a support system and include a high-end <keyword id="6537818" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="supercomputer">supercomputer</keyword> for <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> which do not have proper access to resources and infrastructure. 
“This is the first time a supercomputer is being made exclusively for entrepreneurs,” he added. 
 
 
 
The super-computer is likely to be made available to startups and entrepreneurs by March next year. The estimated cost of building the super-computer would range between Rs 5 crores and Rs 25 crores. 
 
From now on, T-Hub will also start following a ‘cluster-based approach’ when it comes to managing deal flows for the startups that work out of their Gachibowli facility. Startups will now be segregated startups based on their stages (Idea, Early, Seed) and the verticals they are working on. There will also be a review every six-months to ascertain their progress.

During the budget announcement in July, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that 80 livelihood business incubators and 20 technology business incubators will be set up in 2019-2020 to encourage and develop 75,000 social entrepreneurs in India. This will come as a big boon to the Indian startup ecosystem which has been talking about the need of more government initiatives to push forward incubation which will result in the spur of startups. Including the CSR spend towards incubation, will also encourage the corporates who have already been actively involved with startups through partnered accelerator programs, incubation as well as acquisition of startups. Apoorv Sharma, co-founder &amp; president, Venture Catalysts, in an earlier interview with Business Insider had put forth the same point to say it will be a vital factor in increasing India’s ranking in the global startup ecosystem. However, Sharma believes that in India, private incubators too need to be given incentives. He cites the example of the US and China, where successful incubators and accelerators are the private ones. Sitharaman announced a slew of initiatives that has the markets rejoicing – corporate tax has been slashed. A domestic company can pay income tax at 22% if they don’t seek any exemption or incentives and there will be an Effective Tax Rate of 25.17% inclusive of all surcharges and cess for such domestic companies.

Three new AWS availability zones The new cluster of data centers will add another three availability zones to the three that already exist in India under the AWS Mumbai region. “This will fulfill the long term capacity needs of a country like India,” said Chandok. A region is a physical location where data centres are located. Availability zones, on the other hand, are the actual technology infrastructure in separate and distinct geographical regions. Three new availability zones mean that three different locations within Hyderabad will be scouted for setting up data centers. “Each availability zone is a fully isolated partition of the AWS global infrastructure. This means it is physically separate from any of the other availability zones by a meaningful distance,” explained Chandok. Why did AWS choose Hyderabad? Chandok highlighted that AWS chose Hyderabad for its new hub because of Telangana’s policies specifically targeted at the growth of IT and IT services in India. “Hyderabad is the city that’s home to several startups and enterprises with a skilled workforce today,” he said. It’s also about the location itself. Microsoft launches new India Development Centre facility in Noida

With an aim to place <keyword id="6354552" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="hyderabad">Hyderabad</keyword> on the list of top 10 startup destinations in the world, T-Hub, India’s largest incubator for <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> announced five strategic initiatives aimed to help startups get the exposure and funding they need.

An employee from one of the companies DSM has tested positive to the deathly disease, which led to fear and shutdown of a building on the property. The infected patient employee is currently in the isolation ward at the state-run Gandhi hospital. DSM, a Dutch multinational company, operates out of building 20 in Raheja Mindspace. Employees working in building 20 have been evacuated and asked to work from home for the rest of the day. Employees in other buildings continue to work as usual. “We would like to inform you that one of our DSM colleagues in our Hyderabad office at Mindspace building has been diagnosed with Coronavirus (Covid-19),” DSM said, confirming reports. In an official email sent out to its employees in Hyderabad, DSM said that it has closed its buildings in Mindspace and Brightspace for cleaning purposes. In addition to this, the DSM employee had reportedly attended meetings after reaching Hyderabad. Doctors are suggesting that the entire team should be quarantined to prevent any spread of coronavirus. Second confirmed case of coronavirus in Hyderabad The DSM employee who has been confirmed for coronavirus is the second case in Hyderabad. Earlier, a Bengaluru-based techie who travelled to Italy tested positive and is also quarantined at Gandhi hospital. According to information obtained by Business Insider, an Intel employee has voluntarily quarantined himself due to coronavirus concerns. Hyderabad is home to various American tech giants, including Google and Microsoft. Amazon's Hyderabad campus opened on Wednesday, and it's the first office building outside of the US that Amazon owns. Mumbai, Feb 26 () American tech major Accenture on Wednesday opened its third 'innovation hub' in the country at Pune, which will house 1,200 people working on various technologies. Bengaluru and Hyderabad are the other Indian cities having the hubs, which are also present in two cities of Brazil, and one each in Canada, China, Finland, Japan, Switzerland, Australia and Singapore. The hub at Pune, located at SP Infocity, will also feature Accenture's second Nano Lab in the Asia-Pacific region, an official statement said. At the Pune centre, clients will be able to co-innovate with Accenture's experts in extended reality, artificial intelligence, the internet of things, blockchain and quantum computing across sectors, it said in a statement. The hub will enable clients to scale their technology investments and boost their business outcomes across the enterprise, and also create new opportunities for local talent, Bhaskar Ghosh, the group chief executive for Accenture Technology Services, said. The Nano Lab will showcase breakthroughs in applied research from Accenture Labs worldwide, featuring uses for advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, extended reality and quantum computing, it said. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Uber&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Uber</a> is now looking forward to expand its business further more in india and in a bid to do so the San Francisco-based taxi hailing firm is looking at opening another centre in India to support its operations which is most likely to come up in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Bengaluru&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Bengaluru</a>. 
 This will also support <keyword id="4082512" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ubers-operations-in-South-Asia">Uber's operations in South Asia</keyword> since the company is developing India as a regional hub of sorts for the region. The new centre could be used for providing both rider and driver support, apart from developing custom solutions for India and the adjoining markets, according to officials privy to the development. 
 Other than that, <keyword id="1042120" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uber">Uber</keyword> is also expanding its centre in Hyderabad, which was so far only providing support services, and is currently on the lookout for engineering talent. The new centre will be Uber's third in India, which is also its third-largest market. While Hyderabad provides all kind of support to riders as well as drivers, the existing <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword> centre will be the company's engineering hub. 
 
"While we can't comment on specific expansion plans, we can confirm that we will continue to invest here as we see tremendous potential for the future of ride-sharing,” a spokesperson for the company told ET. 
 Uber has already committed $1billion in India and the firm's cofounder <keyword id="1739133" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Travis-Kalanick">Travis Kalanick</keyword>, during his visit to the country last January, had said that the company would double its pledged investment if it sees more than five times the return. After Uber sold off its China operations to Didi Chuxing earlier this year, it has further accelerated its efforts in India. 
 
In the past one year, the company has rolled out several features that are specific to India such as cash payments, dial an Uber and call centre support for drivers. 
 
"We are also building a product and engineering team in Bengaluru, which will, over the next six months or so, swell to 100 people. We have opened up a big support facility in Hyderabad, with around 350-400 people. The team in the country has grown significantly from 100 people 12-months-ago to 800 people now," Jain had said. 
 
After launching in Sri Lanka late last year, Uber started operations in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in mid-November. Both rider and driver support for these locations are handled by Hyderabad centre.

Uber will not settle for less; opening up new centre in Bengaluru to expand operations in India

Hyderabad, Jul 9 (): Indian Institute of Technology - Hyderabad is collaborating with NVIDIA, a multinational technology company, to establish India's first 'NVIDIA AI Technology Centre' (NVAITC) to accelerate research on Artificial Intelligence and its commercial adoption. IIT - Hyderabad already houses two NVIDIA DGX-1TM systems and an NVIDIA DGX-2TM system dedicated to research being undertaken at the institute, a press release from the engineering institute said on Thursday. The NVAITC will accelerate research for the 220 faculty at IIT Hyderabad, which is already among India's foremost research institutions in just over a decade into its inception. This collaboration between IIT Hyderabad and NVIDIA will focus on advancing AI research in the areas of agriculture and smart cities besides language understanding. The projects that would be taken up include increasing crop yield using AI algorithms and applying AI-based solutions to support safer transportation systems and better ways of managing traffic, among others, the release said. "As an IIT with a strong fundamental and technological research focus, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is very happy to join NVIDIA's NVAITC programme," B S Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad said. "This combination of NVIDIA's leading-edge technology for AI Compute and some of the finest minds in the country from IIT Hyderabad will bring synergy to help find solutions to uniquely Indian challenges, be it enhancing crop yield or safer cities. This will build on the strong AI capabilities IIT Hyderabad has built, including the country's first B.Tech in AI programme," he added. Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director for NVIDIA South Asia, said, "NVIDIA is powering the AI revolution across research facilities everywhere. Our collaboration with IIT Hyderabad will accelerate AI research and help create innovative solutions to real-world challenges." The NVAITC represents another step in NVIDIA's collaborations within Telangana. The State government recently announced 2020 as the Year of AI' with an aim to establish Hyderabad among the top 25 global AI innovation hubs.
