Chauhan said, "Some people leave their decisions to trade and invest on software, just like driverless cars. This and many more dangerous uses of AI are being made. With persistent use of AI, the line between truth and lies will become blurred." Reflecting on NSE's origins, Chauhan noted, "NSE came into being on 3 November 1994, on Diwali, so today marks 30 years of NSE. NSE MD warns against AI-driven trading, launches a new mobile app

Recently, the National Stock Exchange (<keyword id="20004725" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="NSE" source="keywords">NSE</keyword>) announced that its total <keyword id="21953893" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="client-accounts" source="keywords">client accounts</keyword> exceeded 20 crore, a remarkable growth from the 16.9 crore figure it was at just eight months ago. The achievement underscores India's rapidly evolving investment landscape and growing <keyword id="20031464" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="retail-participation" source="keywords">retail participation</keyword> in <keyword id="20033427" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="capital-markets" source="keywords">capital markets</keyword>. "This expansion reflects strong investor confidence in India's growth story," said Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Development Officer at NSE. He attributed this growth to the widespread adoption of mobile trading applications and increasing <keyword id="22504349" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investor-awareness" source="keywords">investor awareness</keyword>, aptly supported by government <keyword id="20327350" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="digital-initiatives" source="keywords">digital initiatives</keyword> that have democratized market access, particularly benefiting investors from Tier 2, 3, and 4 cities. Notably, these five states collectively account for approximately 50% of total client accounts, while the top ten states represent about three-quarters of the total registrations. Additionally, the unique registered investor base on NSE stood at 10.5 crore, having crossed the 10-crore mark on August 8, 2024. <h2><keyword id="20849031" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="young-investors" source="keywords">Young investors</keyword> take the lead</h2>Another notable trend that emerged from NSE's latest report is the significant increase in young investor participation. The proportion of investors under 30 years has nearly doubled, rising from 22.9% in March 2018 to 40% by September 2024. Middle-aged investors, aged between 30 and 39, have maintained their participation in the markets, albeit with a slight hit. On the other hand, investors aged between 40 and 49 have witnessed a dip in market participation, dipping to 15.5% in September 2024, as opposed to 20.3% as of March 2018. Similar downtrends were noticed in other age brackets as well, namely 50-59 and 60+ age cohorts. Financial analysts suggest that younger investors bring a new dynamic to the market, often favoring high-growth, technology-driven investments. In contrast, older investors have traditionally leaned toward more stable and conservative options.

NSE client base surges past 20 crore mark; young investors lead market growth

Starting November 11, 2024, your shares will be directly credited to your demat account after you've executed a trade. This will significantly reduce the role of your stockbrokers like Zerodha, Groww, Angel One, and more. Earlier, this rule was set to take effect yesterday i.e. October 14, 2024. The timelines were pushed to November 11 post multiple representations from Broker's Forum. Even the payout time has been shifted from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, in order to ensure credit to client's accounts the very same day. So, what does this change entail for you? We take a look. <h2>What was the situation before? </h2>Say you placed an order to buy 1,000 shares of company A through your stockbroker online today i.e. on Monday. The This will be your trade day, or T-day. The total transaction is worth Rs 1,00,000 (1,000 shares of Rs 100 each), plus Rs 120 worth of STT, brokerage charges and more, which brings the total to Rs 1,00,120. First, your broker will ascertain whether or not you have this amount, or sufficient funds in your account for the trade to go through. Once that is verified, your broker will block this amount in your account and send you a contract note. This note details the day's transactions, along with the charges levied by the broker. Since Indian markets operate on a T-day+1 settlement basis, here's what will happen with your order on T+1 day i.e. Tuesday: 1. The shares will be credited to your broker's pool account (Zerodha in this case) by the clearing corporation (CC). Also, the shares will start reflecting in your demat account the very same day. 2. The funds, which had been blocked in your account, will be debited from your broker's pool account, and will be credited to the selling broker's pool account. Before today, the CC first transferred the <keyword id="20148181" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="securities" source="keywords">securities</keyword> into your broker's pool account, who then credited them to your account. The shares remained in the custody and control of your broker, before they finally transferred the same to your account. <h2>What's changing?</h2>From November 11, 2024, the CC will directly credit the securities to your demat account, eliminating the role of the broker as a necessary intermediary. In short, the brokers will have no touchpoint with your shares. This change will be implemented in 2 phases: Phase 1, which was set to start on October 14, will enable <keyword id="23504881" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="direct-credit" source="keywords">direct credit</keyword> of securities for equity cash segments, where big financial organizations or brokers undertake trades on behalf of their individual or institutional investors. This will also be applicable for physical settlements of futures and options. This means that on the date of their expiry, the actual delivery of stocks/commodities must be made to your demat account. This will continue till January 13, 2025. However, in certain cases, like short delivery (when sellers do not deliver shares), rejected payouts, inactive buyer accounts and more, the securities will still be first credited to the broker's pool accounts. Phase 2, which will begin from January 14, 2025, will extend this system to all security transactions, including even for SLB (securities lending and borrowing), where investors can lend or borrow securities from other participants in the market. The role of brokers will be largely be minimised. This will also change how pledges, or loan against securities are created. Currently, brokers are tasked with the job of creating pledges for unpaid securities, and marking them in the client's demat account. But post this change, brokers will request CCs to mark this in the client's demat account. <h2>Is there anything I need to do? </h2>No, this is not set to impact your i.e. the investor's experience in any way. If anything, it will make the entire share credit process smoother, more direct and secure.

The BSE Sensex opened with a minor gain of 35 points at 81,822.56. "Finally, it (Nifty) has broken through to fresh all-time highs. This opens up possibilities for a strong upmove now. Sensex surges to record high, gains 400 points; Nifty reaches all-time peak

However, given how both the exchanges largely operate in sync, BSE is likely to declare a holiday as well. Before the elections, both BSE and NSE will be shut for trading on November 15 as well, on account of <keyword id="23718443" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Guru-Nanak-Jayanti" source="keywords">Guru Nanak Jayanti</keyword>. Next month, the bourses will remain closed for regular trade on Christmas, i.e., December 25. Earlier this week, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) mandated that all businesses and workplaces in Mumbai should grant paid leave on November 20, 2024, to all its employees so that they can participate in state elections. Failure to do so could mean penalties for employers. All the 288 states in the Maharashtra state assembly are set to go to polls in a single phase on November 20. <h2>Markets close the week on muted note </h2>Both Nifty and Sensex closed the week on a damp note, with Nifty dipping 0.21% to close at 24,148.20 points. On the other hand, Sensex also slipped below the 80,000 mark to close the week at 79,486.32 points. Of the 50 stocks that constitute Nifty, 23 stocks advanced during the day, while 27 saw declines. However, this week has not been all that bad for the markets, with Nifty rising 0.31% and Sensex inching up 0.65% during the last 5 days. All broad market indices fell during today's trade, with smallcaps falling by over 1.5%, while midcaps also closed the day over 1% down. As for sectoral indices, most of them ended the week in reds, with realty and media losing over 2% during trading today. In this month so far, FIIs have been net cash sellers, offloading around Rs 16,445.49 crore. Stock market regulator <keyword id="19901204" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Securities-and-Exchange-Board-of-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Securities and Exchange Board of India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Securities and Exchange Board of India">Securities and Exchange Board of India</keyword> (<keyword id="19901201" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="SEBI" source="keywords">SEBI</keyword>) has updated the eligibility criteria for the entry and <keyword id="19966664" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="exit" source="keywords">exit</keyword> of <keyword id="19905382" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="stocks" source="keywords">stocks</keyword> in the <keyword id="20378398" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="derivatives-segment" source="keywords">derivatives segment</keyword>. Through a circular issued on August 30, SEBI announced significant changes to the rules governing including and removing stocks in the <keyword id="22987933" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FO-segment" source="keywords">F&amp;O segment</keyword>. "To help develop the securities market while being mindful of these concerns, SEBI vide section 3.1.2 of Chapter 5 of Master Circular on Stock Exchanges and Clearing Corporations, dated October 16, 2023, has, inter-alia, laid down the eligibility criteria for entry/exit of stocks in derivatives segment," SEBI said. F&amp;O stands for Futures and Options and refers to financial derivatives that allow traders to speculate on the price movements of an asset without owning the asset itself. In recent years, the need to revamp the methodology for selecting stocks eligible for Futures and Options (F&amp;O) <keyword id="20114014" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="trading" source="keywords">trading</keyword> has been a subject of growing concern. With the evolution of Indian stock markets, the demand for incorporating more stocks with strong <keyword id="20048507" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="liquidity" source="keywords">liquidity</keyword> into the F&amp;O segment has intensified. Simultaneously, the necessity to remove underperforming stocks with poor liquidity has become increasingly evident. Recognizing these concerns, SEBI ahs took action by updating the eligibility criteria for F&amp;O trading. One of the key changes involves the Median Quarter Sigma Order Size (MQSOS) requirement, which has been significantly raised from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 75 lakh. This measure is aimed at ensuring that only stocks with substantial trading volumes are considered for the derivatives segment, thereby enhancing market efficiency. In addition, the <keyword id="22211766" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market-wide-position-limit" source="keywords">Market Wide Position Limit</keyword> (MWPL) has been increased from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1,500 crore. This change is expected to accommodate a larger trading capacity for individual stocks, reflecting the growing size and liquidity of the Indian stock market. Furthermore, as per the SEBI, the Average Daily Delivery Value (ADDV) in the cash market, which is a critical metric for assessing a stock's liquidity, must now be at least Rs 35 crore, up from the previous threshold of Rs 10 crore. This increase is designed to ensure that only stocks with significant trading activity in the cash market are included in the F&amp;O segment. SEBI has also introduced a requirement for stocks to meet these updated criteria continuously for six months to qualify for derivatives trading. This ensures that only consistently performing stocks are eligible for inclusion. To address the issue of underperforming stocks, new exit rules have been introduced under the Product Success Framework (PSF) for individual stock derivatives. According to these rules, stocks that fail to meet the eligibility criteria for three consecutive months will be removed from the derivatives segment. Moreover, SEBI has also mandated a one-year cooling-off period before any removed stock can be reconsidered for F&amp;O trading.

SEBI tightens criteria for exit, entry of stocks in derivatives segment

Benchmark indices <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="Orion">Nifty</keyword> and Sensex recovered from their losses last week to close in greens on Monday. While Sensex inched up over 690 points to close at 79,476.63 points, Nifty closed the day over the 24k mark, at 24,213.30, up by 217 points. During the day, Sensex had soared 740.89 points, or 0.94%, to touch 79,523.13 points. From the 30-share Sensex pack, JSW Steel surged nearly 5% while Tata Steel jumped nearly 4%. Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and UltraTech Cement were also among the big gainers. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Lupin, Britannia, and Infosys were among the major laggards on Sensex. On Nifty, where 39 stocks advanced during the day and the remaining 11 saw declines, Tata Steel, Hindalco, and JSW Steel were among the top gainers. Adani Ports, ITC, Bharti Airtel, and Asian Paints were among the leading laggards. In Asian markets, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong settled in the positive territory, while Seoul ended lower. Yesterday, the BSE benchmark tumbled 941.88 points, or 1.18%, to settle at 78,782.24, the lowest closing level since August 6. The Nifty had also tanked 309 points, or 1.27%, to close at 23,995.35. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued with their hefty exodus, offloading equities worth Rs 4,329.79 crore today, according to exchange data. So far in November, DIIs (domestic institutional investors) have put in Rs 2,558.75 crore in Indian markets. Global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.60% to $75.53 a barrel today. <h2>Banks, metals lead the party</h2> Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares, explains that while bears dominated the first half of trading session by dragging the index lower; it was the banking counters that led to a sharp up move and pushed the index higher from its previous session's low. The Metal stocks also joined the party and pushed the index further higher to end the session at 24,213.30 with gains of 217.95 points. Mid and smallcaps also advanced but underperformed the frontline index", he added. Today's rally was largely led by banking scrips. The BSE Bankex jumped a staggering 1,218.58 points during the day. On NSE, both banks and financial services indices inched up by 1.94% and 1.98% respectively during the day. While PSU bank counters were up by 1.84%, private banks surged ahead with a 1.94% growth during the day. Metals were amidst the highest gainers, rising 2.84% during the day. All broad market indices closed the day in green, except for India VIX, which tumbled 4.08%.

The market analysts say that in the coming week, investors will be looking at the American Fed comments, which is expected to cut policy rates in its next monetary announcement, after the end of the domestic earning season. "With the earnings season concluded, attention will now shift to global markets for cues, particularly in light of the notable recovery in U.S. markets, which has eased recession fears," said," Ajit Mishra - SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd. "Domestically, market participants will be watching institutional flows and upcoming economic data, such as the HSBC India Manufacturing PMI and HSBC India Services PMI, for direction," he added. Observing a cautious approach of the investors, Bagga stated that the markets are now worried about the Fed rate cuts that could lead to weaker stock markets over the next few months. However, he expressed his optimism saying there have been instances where the correction has been short-lived and shallow. "Given that we are at a mid-cycle US economic consolidation, rather than a full-blown, or incipient US recession, this time around may prove to be an instance of a shallow and short-lived market correction," Bagga added. In the last week, global markets provided a boost to investor sentiment. In the US, recent economic data pointed to a slowdown in inflation, with the CPI dropping to a three-year low of 2.9%. Retail sales in July also exceeded expectations, growing by 1%, which fueled speculation that the US <keyword id="19904332" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="federal-reserve" source="keywords">Federal Reserve</keyword> may cut interest rates by 50 basis points in September. Amidst an increasing number of unscrupulous persons or entities trying to provide unrealistic investment tips, <keyword id="19905454" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="stock-exchanges" source="keywords">stock exchanges</keyword> in India have come together with an advisory to sensitize <keyword id="19900618" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="investors" source="keywords">investors</keyword> about its consequences. In a joint advisory on Monday, leading stock exchanges, <keyword id="19895774" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="BSE" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="BSE">BSE</keyword>, NSE, NCDEX, MCX, and MSE advised investors to exercise due caution and refrain from joining any <keyword id="19897919" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="social-media" source="keywords">social media</keyword> groups where stock recommendations are given along with market analysis or downloading any App offering investment opportunities. Joining such groups or downloading such fake apps could make investors victims of "transnational <keyword id="20490528" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-fraud" source="keywords">financial fraud</keyword> promising unrealistic returns," the joint advisory said. "It has been brought to the notice of the Exchanges that some unscrupulous persons or entities operating through Indian and international mobile numbers, through social media platforms, are falsely claiming to offer trading opportunities through <keyword id="21574670" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-portfolio-investment" source="keywords">Foreign Portfolio Investment</keyword> (FPI) or <keyword id="22923323" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-institutional-investor" source="keywords">Foreign Institutional Investor</keyword> (FII), impersonating reputed financial institutions", the advisory said. The joint advisory accused those entities of showcasing fake certificates purportedly issued by SEBI/ Exchanges. "These operations often use mobile numbers registered under false names to orchestrate their schemes," the joint advisory read. The activities of such unscrupulous entities include claims of being associated with organizations/individuals of repute, promising guaranteed or high returns without the need for a demat account, offering to handle trading accounts by asking investors to share their login credentials, facilitating pre-IPO subscriptions with false promises of assured profits, among many others. Hence, the exchanges came together and cautioned investors to be skeptical of any social media claim of high returns from trading in the securities market through fictitious institutional accounts and not fall for stock market advice/analysis. Victims can report such suspected <keyword id="19898489" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fraud" source="keywords">fraud</keyword> communications at the Chakshu facility on www.sancharsaathi.gov.in and in case one has already lost money, they can report the same on cybercrime helpline number 1930 or www.cybercrime.gov.in. Investors are also advised to refer to webpage links of stock exchanges to verify the genuine trading App, websites, and bank accounts of recognized stockbrokers. Investors must understand that investments offering high returns usually involve high risk, including fraud risk, and there can be no guarantees of assured returns in the securities market.

NSE, BSE advise investors against dealing with entities assuring unreal returns

Amid the ongoing selling in the Indian stock markets, the growth in the demat accounts also declined in October, highlighted a report by ICICI Securities The report highlighted that after a strong four-month period where monthly additions to demat accounts exceeded 4 million, October 2024 saw a decline in new demat accounts. It also added that the total number of accounts added in October fell to 3.45 million, down from 4.36 million in September 2024. This dip breaks the streak of steady growth in demat accounts, suggesting a possible shift in <keyword id="20030258" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investor-sentiment" source="keywords">investor sentiment</keyword> or market conditions. "Demat accounts additions fall below 4 million after four months After four consecutive months of more than 4 million <keyword id="23912333" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Demat-account-additions" source="keywords">demat account additions</keyword> in a month," the report said. Among depositories, the Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) maintained a strong lead in market share. In October 2024, CDSL's share of total and incremental demat accounts stood at 79% and 90%, respectively. Meanwhile, individual investor activity showed mixed trends in September 2024 across different market segments. The report stated that the number of individual investors actively trading in the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) cash market increased slightly. In September, 15.8 million individual investors traded at least once, marking a 1.9% increase from 15.5 million in August. Over the first half of the financial year (6MFY24), a total of 29.4 million individuals participated at least once in the cash market, compared to 30.7 million for the full FY24. However, participation in the equity derivatives segment saw a downturn. The number of individual investors trading at least once in a month on the NSE's equity derivatives segment dropped by 3.6 % in September, falling to 4.46 million from 4.66 million in August. For the first half of FY24, a total of 8.7 million individuals participated in the derivatives market, a decline from 9.6 million for the entire FY24. This decline indicates a reduced interest in derivative trading among individual investors, possibly due to increased volatility or changing market preferences. The report said, "A total of 29.4 million individuals have participated at least once in 6MFY24 vs. 30.7 million in FY24. Individual investors, who traded at least once in a month on NSE's equity derivatives segment, declined 3.6% MoM in Sep'24 to 4.46 million vs. 4.66 million in Aug'24". The dip in both new demat accounts and derivatives participation among individual investors suggests a cautious outlook among retail participants. As global economic conditions remain uncertain, domestic markets face volatility amid the continued selling by foreign investors.

New Demat account additions drop to 4-month low in October as market declines, notes report by ICICI Securities

<keyword id="20459350" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-stock-markets" source="keywords">Indian stock markets</keyword> are experiencing robust growth as the number of <keyword id="19900618" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investors" source="keywords">investors</keyword> rapidly increases. However, despite this surge, the number of active participants remains relatively low compared to the total registered users, though it has been rising steadily since March. According to a report by the National Stock Exchange (NSE), out of the 9.7 crore <keyword id="22721559" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="registered-investors" source="keywords">registered investors</keyword>, only 1.5 crore are active. The report highlights that active investors on the NSE surged by 13.9 % month-on-month, reaching 1.5 crore in June. This marks the third consecutive month of growth in active market users. The NSE report shows that the number of individuals trading at least once a month grew by 13.1% in June, compared to May, reflecting a strong trend in <keyword id="21427519" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market-participation" source="keywords">market participation</keyword>. "The number of individual investors who traded at least once in June increased across regions. This individual investor base rose by 13.9 % month-on-month to reach 1.5 crore in June 2024," the report noted. It also points out that there has been a steady rise in active domestic investors after a decline earlier in the year, particularly in March. As of June, the number of active domestic market investors on the NSE from the top 10 states--Maharashtra, Gujarat, <keyword id="19894922" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh" source="keywords">Uttar Pradesh</keyword>, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana--stood at 1.2 crore. Maharashtra led the increase in June, significantly contributing to the new and active investor base in the stock markets. "Following a decline in March 2024, the count of individuals who traded at least once has been on a steady rise, increasing by 13.1% month-on-month to 1.2 crore for the top 10 states in June 2024," the NSE report stated. The report also noted a year-on-year growth in the number of registered investors. The total number of registered users reached 9.7 crore at the end of June, up from approximately 7.6 crore the previous year. "The total number of registered investors stood at 9.7 crore at the end of June, up from around 7.6 crore at the same time last year," the report added. Region-wise, Southern and Eastern India saw significant increases, with active investor bases rising by 16.8 % month-on-month to 29.1 lakh and 15.6 % month-on-month to 16.7 lakh, respectively. The Northern and Western regions also experienced growth, with investor bases reaching 55 lakh and 56 lakh, respectively, in June 2024. <h2>Nifty on the rise</h2>The <keyword id="20641216" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty-50" source="keywords">Nifty 50</keyword> index began on April 22, 1996, with a starting value of 1136.28 points and has recently crossed 25,000 points, marking a growth of nearly 22 times. In less than four years from its inception, the index climbed to 1592.90 points, showcasing early signs of its potential. By December 2, 2004, just before the start of 2005, the Nifty 50 achieved a historic milestone by crossing the 2000-point mark, setting the stage for further growth amid challenges. The global financial crisis of 2008 tested the resilience of the Indian stock market. At the start of the year, the Nifty 50 was trading around 6,300 points, but by the end of 2008, it had plummeted to 2,500 points, reflecting the global economic turmoil. Despite this setback, India's <keyword id="20172097" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-sector" source="keywords">financial sector</keyword> demonstrated remarkable strength. By December 31, 2009, less than a year after the crisis, the Nifty 50 had rebounded to 5,200 points. In September 2010, the Nifty index again reached the 6,000-point mark after a gap of over two years, marking a significant recovery. As 2014 began, the index was around 6,300 points, but by the end of the year, it had surged past 8,000 points, fuelled by optimism surrounding the new single-party majority government at the centre. A major milestone was achieved on July 25, 2017, when the Nifty 50 hit the 10,000-point mark, coinciding with the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), a landmark reform in the Indian indirect tax structure. The market faced another significant challenge with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. The Nifty 50, which had been trading around 12,000 points in January 2020, fell dramatically to about 7,500 points by March 2020. This sharp decline was one of the most significant losses for the index in a short span. Nevertheless, the resilience of the Indian stock market was evident, as the Nifty 50 began its recovery as the pandemic subsided. The recovery was swift and robust. By 2021, the Nifty 50 surpassed the 15,000-point mark, and the rally continued unabated. On August 1, 2024, the index achieved a new milestone, reaching 25,000 points. The Nifty 50 hit the 20,000-point mark for the first time on September 11, 2023, and took 221 trading days from that level to reach 25,000 points on August 1, 2024. This journey from the early days of 1136.28 points to the recent milestone of 25,000 points underscores the evolution of the Indian financial sector and its integral role in the country's economic development. Commenting on the Nifty's journey, Ajay Bagga, Banking and Market Expert, stated that "the journey of the Nifty reflects the growth of the Indian economy and various sectors. When the Nifty was created in the mid-1990s, the top companies were very different, from very different sectors. In these three years, IT, Pharma, Real Estate, Autoancillaries, and Telecom have emerged as new sectors with significant shares in the Nifty market cap. Going ahead, in the decades to come, there will again be a sectoral rotation as e-commerce, artificial intelligence, fintech and health tech companies rise to prominence."
