<keyword id="6355629" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="google" source="Orion">Google</keyword> on Tuesday announced its <keyword id="14193636" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups-accelerator-programme" source="Orion">startups accelerator programme</keyword> that will nurture about 20 startups led by women founders in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. The programme is aimed to help women founders address challenges that are unique to their experience, including fundraising, hiring and many others. The inaugural batch of Google for <keyword id="8826137" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups-Accelerator" source="Orion">Startups Accelerator</keyword> - India Women Founders programme will accept up to 20 women-founded/ co-founded startups in India, including startups at the minimum viable product stage, and support them through a three-month programme. The programme will place special focus on areas like access to networks, access to capital, hiring challenges, mentorship and many others which, for a variety of social reasons and low representation, prove challenging for female founders. In addition to these, the curriculum will include workshops and support around AI/ML, Cloud, UX, android, web, product strategy and growth, as well as provide access to a global community of women founders. India is the world's third largest startup capital, trailing only the US and China. It boasts over a 100 unicorns with 22 getting added to the list just in 2022, spanning verticals such as e-commerce, healthtech, fintech and many others. However, only 15 per cent of these <keyword id="3357129" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-unicorns" source="Orion">Indian unicorns</keyword> have one or more women founders. "The new programme is part of a larger effort by Google towards improving the representation of women across different sections of India's digitally-trained workforce, be it entrepreneurship, professionals looking to upskill or young graduates seeking a head start on their career, with the ultimate objective of making technology universally relevant and helpful," the tech giant wrote in a blogpost. Google to launch accelerator programme for women entrepreneurs in India

<ul><li>The <keyword id="7913394" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sony-startup-acceleration-programme">Sony Startup Acceleration Programme</keyword> (SSAP) just launched a <keyword id="2796462" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="crowdfunding-campaign">crowdfunding campaign</keyword> for a <keyword id="7913395" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="wearable-air-conditioner">wearable air conditioner</keyword> called the Reon Pocket. </li><li>Reon Pocket is smaller than a smartphone in size and comes with a specially designed shirt. </li><li>The project still needs 34.3 million Yen to meet its funding goal. </li></ul>Sony just launched a mini air conditioner that’s smaller than an average smartphone that you can wear on the go called the ‘Reon Pocket’. As a part of the Sony Startup Acceleration Programme (SSAP), it’s a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/25-tech-products-that-raised-over-1-million-on-Kickstarter-and-where-to-buy-them/articleshow/67130382.cms">crowded funded</a> project that’s only met 48% of its <a href="https://first-flight.sony.com/pj/reonpocket">funding requirement</a> so far. The total cost for the project is 66 million Yen and so far only 31.7 million Yen have come in, with another 24 days left to meet the deadline. A single unit of the Reon Pocket costs $130, which is approximately ₹9,000. How does it work? The device itself may be small but in order for it to work properly, it comes with a specially designed shirt that has a small pocket behind the neck for the gadget to seat itself. Essentially, it’s <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/silcon-valley-never-talks-about-the-real-reason-you-dont-own-a-smart-watch-or-wearable160tech/articleshow/32759343.cms?mobile=no">smart innerwear</a> meant to be worn underneath your normal clothes. You can control the temperature using a smartphone app that communicates with the unit using bluetooth. While keeping cool in the summer, the wearable technology can also be turned into a heater when winters kick in. According to the <a href="https://first-flight.sony.com/images/projects/reonpocket/image07.jpg">product team</a>, the Reon Pocket can reduce temperatures by up to 13 degrees Celsius and make it warmer by 8.3 degrees Celsius. In both cases, the fan — which users can control via the app — has five different speed settings. The wearable air conditioner lasts 90 minutes in a single charge on average, according to the company. According to <a href="https://sony-startup-acceleration-program.com/article049.html">Yoichi Ito</a>, the project leader, they are aiming to commercialise the Reon Pocket by the summer of 2020. Sony has a wearable air conditioner that’s smaller than a smartphone

<keyword id="6355629" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="google">Google</keyword> on Wednesday expanded its programme for startups to support startups working on the solutions to solve real-life challenges towards the new normal post COVID-19 landscape in India. <keyword id="9416148" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="google-for-startups">Google for Startups</keyword> has opened applications for the new batch of <keyword id="9416150" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="google-for-startups-accelerator">Google for Startups Accelerator</keyword>, with a special focus on health-tech, fin-tech, edu-tech, agri-tech, retail and SaaS startups, the company said in a statement. The next batch will commence in August 2020 and the last date of applications is June 30. This will be the fourth class of startups mentored by Google, which has so far closely mentored over 60 startups in India to date. "We have been working very closely with over 250 Startups founders over the last two months, holding consults with our network of experts, mentors and VCs to help solve for the immediate challenges faced by the founder community," informed Paul Ravindranath G, Programme Manager, Google for <keyword id="9416146" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="startups-accelerator-india">Startups Accelerator India</keyword>. In addition to the fresh call for applications, Google for Startups also announced the launch of 'Emerging stronger: Playbook' for startups to face the Covid-19 Challenge. "We have captured the work of these last two months into a handy playbook which we hope will benefit the larger ecosystem," Ravindranath added. Beyond the Accelerator, Google for Startups will continue to offer support to startups via its partner programme and mentor network.

During the demo day, 12 Indian startups (2 of them have not been made public yet) are presenting their business ideas. Y Combinator, which takes in two batches of startups in a year, saw a 50% increase in participation from Indian startups. As many as 140 seed stage startups applied to the accelerator, while 12 of them were selected. MyPetrolPump The Bengaluru-based startup delivers on-demand fuel to cars, fleet vehicles and generators. They start delivery at 6 am in the morning, and it goes on until midnight. Lokal Lokal is a news app which delivers news and classifieds in vernacular content. The app currently delivers news in Telugu for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Wingman The startup helps sales representatives with on-screen and real-time analysis. The startup’s AI assistant helps the employees, and assists them with cue cards for their presentations, helping them improve performance. DigiPrex DigPrex works as an online pharmacy where patients can share prescription online and get medicines delivered at home, via through Whatsapp. Khabri The podcast platform offers vernacular content to Indians. Their content ranges from news to inspirational content and even jobs, where users can tune in to listen to information on-the-go. Mela Mela is an e-commerce platform that enables group buying through WhatsApp and Facebook. The platform helps collective buying at much cheaper costs and works much like the popular Chinese platform Pinduoduo. Nonu Nonu is a personal healthcare startup, specializing in hair loss treatment with prescription medicines, shampoos, and more. Vahan Vahan is a recruitment platform which uses Artificial Intelligence to match employers with job seekers. Through its messaging platform, it promises faster recruitment. GreenTiger Two former Microsoft employees Prateek Swain and Tyler Burnam launched GreenTiger, which helps Indians invest in the US stock market. The startup is based out of Sunnyvale, California. Binks Binks, launched in 2019, helps women get custom-made clothes online.
