Forex traders said the USDINR pair has shown significant volatility in recent sessions, with the rupee inching closer to its all-time low of 84.40. This downward pressure is largely driven by global factors, particularly the Dollar Index's strengthening. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 84.40 against the greenback, registering a fall of 1 paisa over its previous close. On Tuesday, the rupee fell 1 paisa to a new lifetime low of 84.39 against the US dollar. "It appears that the rupee has established support around the current levels, with depreciation limited near 84.50," CR Forex Advisors MD Amit Pabari said. Pabari further added that the RBI stands tall as the depreciation in the rupee seems to be limited as the <keyword id="19899810" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reserve-Bank-of-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Reserve Bank of India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Reserve Bank of India">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> (RBI) continues to sell the dollars to protect the sharp depreciation. "For the 5th consecutive week, India's forex reserves declined, possibly due to RBI selling the dollars. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading lower by 0.04 per cent at 105.98. On the domestic equity market front, Sensex was trading 210.66 points, or 0.27 per cent lower, to 78,464.52 points. The Nifty fell 100.45 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 23,783.00 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Tuesday, as they offloaded shares worth Rs 3,024.31 crore, according to exchange data. On the macroeconomic front, retail inflation breached the Reserve Bank's upper tolerance level, soaring to a 14-month high of 6.21 per cent in October mainly on account of rising food prices. Inflation based on the consumer price index (CPI) was 5.49 per cent in September and 4.87 per cent in the year-ago month. India's industrial production expanded by 3.1 per cent in September after recording a contraction in the preceding month, as all three major segments -- mining, manufacturing, and power generation -- showed improvement. However, the growth in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) during the month was lower than 6.4 per cent registered in September 2023.

But market volatility is at its lowest levels since July, according to the VIX index, Wall Street's favorite measure of uneasiness. Assets from US stocks to bitcoin are hitting all-time highs despite the economic backdrop — the Federal Reserve cut rates in September, indicating a slowing economy — being far from ideal."When people think things can't go down, that's when you start to worry," said Brandon Yarckin, the chief operating officer of $16 billion tail-risk asset manager Universa Investments, in an interview with Business Insider. Universa has demand for its strategy currently, Yarckin said, but it's coming from "a small subset of people."Simon Aninat, a volatility portfolio manager for Natixis affiliate Seeyond, said clients haven't asked to revive a long-volatility strategy that performed well during the early days of the pandemic, but was closed in mid-2023 due to a lack of demand. The best architects use the natural flow of the land and native trees and grasses to fashion a route that's fair yet challenging. It's hard to narrow down my favorite courses, but these stand out for their beauty and enduring appeal to golfers of all skill levels.Here are eight of my all-time <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-golf-courses-in-america-2014-5">favorite golf courses</a>.<h2 id="06310bc3-5c6d-4090-ac96-3e9a5cfb205f">I'll never forget Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, California</h2><div type="image" title="An aerial view of Pebble Beach golf course along rocks and ocean" height="3368" width="5000" msid="114665017" hostid="261" sizebytes="1541260"></div>I was lucky to golf at an Alister MacKenzie-designed course while at the University of Michigan for four years. I never dreamed I'd one day survey the golf-course architect's crowning achievement, the Cypress Point Club.Located along the Pacific Ocean in Pebble Beach, California, it's both beautiful and extremely exclusive — only 250 or so CEOs and other elites are members.The fabled 16th hole — a par 3 with a daunting tee shot over crashing surf and craggy rocks — will live in my mind's eye forever.<h2 id="fb3afa20-ce23-444a-a110-535aace15f6c">The nearby Spyglass Hill is also incredible</h2>Just down the coast from Cypress Point stands Spyglass Hill, a classic Robert Trent Jones Sr. design along the Pacific.It's well worth the stiff greens fees — around $415 — given its prized location by Carmel-by-the-Sea and its perennial popularity among golfers.Spyglass is a three-layer confection: it courses up and downhill through dense pine forests and austere sand dunes — it even has a too-brief encounter with the sea.<h2 id="14a36765-17a4-406a-a983-d02504c0da55">Forest Dunes Golf Club in northern Michigan is one of the Mitten State's best-kept secrets</h2><div type="image" title="Overview of Forest Dunes Golf Club with large bodies of water in irregular shapes surrounded by golf course greens with irregularly shaped sand bits and trees behind the course" height="3948" width="5272" msid="114665018" hostid="261" sizebytes="1390472"></div>To create Forest Dunes Golf Club, golf pro Tom Weiskopf routed 18 holes through aromatic, pine-studded sand dunes in the middle of Michigan farm country.Forest Dunes alone is worth the trek to Roscommon, Michigan, and you must also play its ingenious companion course, The Loop.A rare Tom Doak "reversible" design, The Loop features two distinct, 18-hole layouts on the same piece of earth. Play it one way on Monday and then enjoy an entirely different routing on Tuesday.<h2 id="af37547c-84c6-4e34-ba9d-5060cc69ef0b">Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is located on a majestic stretch of unspoiled Oregon coastline</h2>No modern golf fan can fail to pay homage to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon, where seven different courses perch above the ocean on 2,500 acres.It was designed by architect David McLay Kidd and inspired by the ancient links courses of Scotland, which were typically set on grassy natural areas between sea and land. The course is an homage to his Scottish heritage, with gusting winds and panoramic views of the entire property.It's huge — plan on staying a week at the resort and booking a foot massage upon your return. By the last glorious hole, you might log 40 miles on your feet.<h2 id="47aaa557-1d30-405c-988e-0512b65e6f94">Gamble Sands in remote Brewster, Washington, is a must-visit destination</h2>Golfers of every skill level will enjoy Gamble Sands' capacious fairways and equally generous greens. Nothing beats its three drivable par 4s overlooking the Columbia River.You can also stay on the property and play its short, 14-hole course, Quicksands, for a between-meals amuse bouche.Plus, a second 18-hole Kidd-designed course is set to debut here in 2025.<h2 id="b783b3bf-a6fc-4407-8ebc-3453eb33ee7d">Scottsdale has some of Arizona's finest courses</h2><div type="image" title="View of mountains in Arizona in distance in front of golfers on green" height="3774" width="5661" msid="114665019" hostid="261" sizebytes="688596"></div>Scottsdale, Arizona, is home to over 200 golf courses and is a choice <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/quartzsite-arizona-nomadland-location-snowbirds-cheap-rv-resorts-2024-2">winter getaway for snowbirds</a> from all over.The deepest-pocketed of them probably call the private gated community Desert Mountain their home away from home.There are six Jack Nicklaus courses on the property. The very first, Renegade, is regarded to be among his most ingenious designs.Featuring six double greens and seven tee boxes, it can play from 4,400 to over 8,000 yards and offers painterly views of the Sonoran Desert sunsets.<h2 id="c0d46365-66cc-41b4-9759-245f53ab08c2">Omni Golf's Grove Park Inn is still popular after 100 years</h2><div type="image" title="View of stone-covered building behind trees and greenery and in front of mountains at The Omni Grove Park Inn" height="3648" width="5472" msid="114664918" hostid="261" sizebytes="2011844"></div>The Carolinas are known for having some great golf. North Carolina gets bragging rights for its justifiably famous Pinehurst No. 2 course, but let's not overlook Omni Golf's Grove Park Inn in <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/things-to-do-asheville-north-carolina-best-place-to-travel-in-us-2016-12">Asheville</a>.Surrounded by the majestic <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/most-beautiful-mountain-ranges-in-the-us-2020-5">Blue Ridge Mountains</a>, the course is over a century old and was originally designed by renowned architect Donald Ross.The adjoining Grove Park Inn, with its 43,000-square-foot subterranean spa, is also worth a visit. The historic resort has hosted the likes of Barack Obama and F. Scott Fitzgerald, as well as innumerable golf legends.<h2 id="f5012c7a-e9d1-419d-814a-db5cbfbbea67">Cabo del Sol ranks among Mexico's best resorts — and its got great golf, too</h2>Mexico has seen an explosion of new golf courses in the last decade, but Tom Weiskopf's Cabo del Sol layout in Los Cabos has been a top draw for over 20 years now.It deserves kudos for the views alone — the glimmering Sea of Cortez is visible from all 18 holes as the course winds its way through desert washes and sand.The course is also undergoing a $20 million makeover, with some stunning new holes and a swanky clubhouse. If you visit, don't leave without trying the local sea-bass tacos.

The stock soared as much as 8.4% to an all-time high of $74.44. Walmart's shares have climbed over 39% this year alone.The big gain in Thursday's session comes as the company reported strong sales growth in the most recent quarter, even as US consumers broadly turn cautious. Walmart said US sales rose 4.2% year-over-year in the most recent quarter, the company said, versus estimates of 3.5%. The company also boosted its forecast for full-year sales growth to 3.75%-4.75%, up from 3%-4%. The strong sales and numbers and upbeat guidance follow almost a decade of straight sales gains for the country's largest retailer.Walmart is "on its own path," UBS retail analyst Michael Lasser said in a Thursday interview with CNBC. "This is less about what is happening with the overall consumer environment, because it has been challenging, and more about Walmart."Lasser pointed to Walmart's convenience, compelling prices and growing online business. The fact that so many US consumers regularly shop at Walmart also gives the store more access points to engage its customers, he said.US retail sales data for July posted a surprise increase, rising 1% last month. Throughout this summer's earnings season, companies like McDonalds, Home Depot and Disney have reported weaker-than-expected spending, pointing to consumer fatigue from high prices after two years of high inflation. Home Depot's CFO Richard McPhail said he's seeing <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/home-depot-earnings-americans-in-deferral-mindset-consumer-spending-2024-8">a "deferral mindset"</a> as consumers put off spending until they see lower prices and interest rates.Consumer inflation is cooling, though, reaching its lowest level in over three years. The consumer price index rose 2.9% in July, according to data released Wednesday. The softer inflation data this week has markets believing that a September rate cut is certain.

Rising for the third straight session, the BSE benchmark climbed 181.87 points or 0.24 per cent to settle at a new closing peak of 76,992.77 on Friday. The Nifty rallied 66.70 points or 0.29 per cent to hit a record closing high of 23,465.60.
