After <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>’s offer of $800-$850 million got rejected by <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, the Indian e-commerce giant is planning to make a new one. Reportedly, Flipkart might offer $900-950 million for buying Snapdeal. Snapdeal had asked for $1 billion for acquisition and this new offer is somewhat near to the asking price. PTI quoted sources as saying the deal is not finalised yet and the new offer will be made only next week. Snapdeal's board has already rejected a takeover offer of $800-850 million (around Rs 5,500 crore) from Flipkart as it felt the amount undervalued the company given that the due diligence report was clean. <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword>, Snapdeal's largest investor, has been proactively mediating the sale for the past few months. The board of Snapdeal also has representation from its founders (<keyword id="219793" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kunal-Bahl">Kunal Bahl</keyword> and Rohit Bansal), Nexus Venture Partners and Kalaari Capital. Meanwhile, Snapdeal is also looking for buyers to sell <keyword id="3489561" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="vulcan-express">Vulcan Express</keyword>, its logistics arm. Snapdeal's valuations have also plummeted from about $6.5 billion in February 2016. SoftBank has already written off over $1 billion on valuation of its investment in Snapdeal.

A fierce competition is going on among different online shopping portals on <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword>. Earlier, Flipkart had come up with ‘The Big Billion Day’ followed by <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>’s 1+1 offer and flat 50% discount. <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>, too, had offered ‘Diwali Dhamaka Sale’ from 10-16 October. 
 Today, on the occasion of <keyword id="4067" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dhanteras">Dhanteras</keyword>, Amazon is once again offering heavy discounts. It is offering minimum 16% and maximum 56% off on products like laptop, mobile phones, home appliances and kitchen products. The sale has started from 7 am today. 
 
Moreover, Snapdeal is also trying to lure customers by offering 50% off and 1+1 offer on the occasion of Dhanteras today. Snapdeal is also giving flat 50% off on many products. 
 
Since Diwali is a big festival, e-tailers are leaving no stone unturned cash in during the festive season.

Talks between <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> have hit another hurdle as the Snapdeal board has refused a takeover offer of $800-850 million, or nearly Rs 5,500 crore. PTI quoted sources as saying Flipkart has completed the due diligence process and has made an offer of USD 800-850 million to buy Snapdeal. However, Snapdeal's board felt the amount undervalued the company. "The first offer has been rejected but talks are still on. It is an ongoing discussion," one of the sources told PTI. <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword>, the Snapdeal's largest investor, has been proactively mediating the sale for the past few months. The board also has representation from Snapdeal founders (<keyword id="219793" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kunal-Bahl">Kunal Bahl</keyword> and Rohit Bansal), NVP and Kalaari Capital. The deal between Snapdeal and Flipkart, if completed, would mark the biggest acquisition in the Indian e-commerce space. Compared to a valuation of about USD 6.5 billion in February 2016, the sale to Flipkart could see Snapdeal being valued at about USD 1 billion. SoftBank has already written off over USD 1 billion on valuation of its investment in Snapdeal.

Snapdeal rejects Flipkart’s $850 million offer

In the latest development, <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> may merge with <keyword id="761157" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infibeam">Infibeam</keyword>, which is India’s only publicly listed e-commerce company. As per various reports, Infibeam is in talks with Snapdeal for possible merger talks and has even put a term sheet that may value Snapdeal at $1 billion. If this deal goes through, Infibeam and Snapdeal together will create a company valued at $2 billion. Ahmedabad-based Infibeam has a market capitalisation of Rs 6,100 crore. The development comes after Snapdeal rejected a $700-750 million offer for sale to <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>. However, PTI reports Flipkart may make a new offer of $900-950 million. "While Infibeam has a focus on business-to-business commerce, Snapdeal's is a consumer-led online retail platform which is why this merger may bring in synergies in their operations. While Infibeam has given a term sheet, it's not the end of the road for Flipkart," ET quoted sources as saying.

Nothing seems to be going well between the board members of <keyword id="6481662" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jasper-Infotech">Jasper Infotech</keyword>, which owns <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=snapdeal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Snapdeal</a>. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=kalaari+capital&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Kalaari Capital</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=nexus+venture+partners&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Nexus Venture Partners</a> are at loggerheads with Japanese investor <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=softbank&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">SoftBank</a>, which has now cancelled a $150-200 million debt financing offer to <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>. 
 As per various reports, <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword> is now interested in either merger or sell out of Snapdeal without any involvement of the other investors. ET reported SoftBank has been talking to several people for the deal without keeping <keyword id="1397792" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kalaari-Capital">Kalaari Capital</keyword> and <keyword id="175881" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nexus-Venture-Partners">Nexus Venture Partners</keyword> in loop. 
 
"Both Kalaari Capital and Nexus Venture Partners are livid at the developments, and have questioned SoftBank about its intention with regard to Snapdeal,” ET quoted one of its sources as saying. 
 
"There was a term-sheet offering Snapdeal debt financing for a period of three years, which was, inexplicably, withdrawn within days, giving credence that Soft-Bank has made up its mind about selling the company,” a second person told ET. 
 SoftBank has seats at the table, while Kalaari and Nexus have one each on Jasper’s board that includes cofounders <keyword id="219793" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kunal-Bahl">Kunal Bahl</keyword> and <keyword id="396598" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rohit-Bansal">Rohit Bansal</keyword>, and Bharti Enterprises vice-chairman Akhil Gupta as an independent director. 
 
Apparently, the differences within the board are not new. In December, SoftBank had offered a direct $50-million monthly injection in Snapdeal, contingent on a potential merger or sale of the company. Kalaari and Nexus Venture Partners disagreed with the terms. 
 
SoftBank's stake in Jasper stood at about 33% while Kalaari Capital and Nexus Venture Partners owned about 8% and 10%, respectively. Both the founders, combined, owned about 6.5% of the company, which at its peak early last year was valued at about $6.5 billion. 
 
As per Reuters, SoftBank has reached out to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=flipkart&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Flipkart </a>to sell Snapdeal.

	In the first phase of the partnership, Croma and Snapdeal.com would come up with market development initiatives as well as develop programmes to reach out to customers and vendors. “This is a big moment for us, where Croma and Snapdeal.com will now leverage their offline and online presence respectively and work jointly to offer a more holistic shopping experience to consumers across the country. Croma To Woo Indian Consumers; Ties Up With Snapdeal

Online marketplace Snapdeal.com has raised $100 million from a group of five investors, the company said in a statement. The investors are Temasek, <keyword id="192695" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="BlackRock-Inc">BlackRock Inc</keyword>, <keyword id="60286" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="myriad">Myriad</keyword>, <keyword id="648852" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Premji-Invest">Premji Invest</keyword> and <keyword id="2249842" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tybourne-">Tybourne.</keyword> 
 
"We see this financing round as another endorsement of Snapdeal's differentiated strategy and progress as India's largest online marketplace. We are pleased to welcome several marquee global investors as our partners and believe their association will contribute to Snapdeal's long-term success. 
 
"Our mobile and Internet commerce marketplace is now connecting millions of buyers to a very large base of sellers that offer products and services of national and international brands. We will continue to focus on creating life-changing experiences for the buyers, as well as sellers, in the Snapdeal ecosystem," said Kunal Bahl, Snapdeal's co-founder and chief executive officer. 
 
This follows Snapdeal's previous round of equity financing of $133.77 million, which was completed in February 2014 with participation from Snapdeal's existing investors, including eBay, Kalaari Capital, Nexus Venture Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Intel Capital and Saama Capital. 
 
Credit Suisse acted as Snapdeal's exclusive financial advisor and Indus Law acted as its legal advisor for the financing.
