The Axis Bank-owned company has revealed that over 18,000 customers have already signed up for the new platform. Some of the services that its customers will be able to avail include — fixed deposits, recurring deposits, buy now, pay later (BNPL) services, digital debit and credit cards, personal loans and more. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="What is a neo-bank?" comment="subhead" text="What is a neo-bank?">What is a neo-bank?</cmsannotation> A neo-bank is a financial institution that offers an alternative to traditional banks. They are digital banks that do not have any physical branches. While they do not have a bank license, they partner with existing banks to onboard customers. Freecharge has partnered with Axis Bank, its parent company to offer neo-banking services to its customers. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Phased rollout" comment="subhead" text="Phased rollout">Phased rollout</cmsannotation> Freecharge has been testing its neo-banking platform for some time now. It started offering buy now, pay later (BNPL) services to its customers in the first quarter of the year and is now testing lending services for small businesses. Customers can also enrol for fixed and recurring deposits on the platform using the Freecharge app. The company has also started offering mutual fund services, allowing users to invest in mutual funds right from the app. In the future, the company also intends to offer personal loans to its customers. “We launched BNPL, the first of the (digital) products, in the first quarter. The second one was small-ticket lending for small businesses," Freecharge chief executive officer <keyword id="1478618" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="siddharth-mehta" source="Orion">Siddharth Mehta</keyword> said in an <a href="https://www.livemint.com/technology/tech-news/freecharge-announces-roll-out-of-its-neo-banking-platform-11637082492876.html">interview</a>. “The extension of this is that we will launch the consumer financial services platform or the neo-bank. Then, eventually, we will move to the merchant," Mehta added. Freecharge will also partner with insurance providers in the coming months to allow its users to apply and renew their insurance policies. Early next year, the company aims to offer digital credit and debit cards to its users. Freecharge announces neo-banking platform, to offer fixed deposits, digital credit card and more

After a week of great <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> action, mainly due to the runaway success of Rajinikanth-starrer <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Box-Office-Kochadaiiyaan-Thrives-On-Rajini-Power-Heropanti-Soaring-High/articleshow/35710189.cms">Kochadaiiyaan</a>, <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> is back to a dismal crawl. Last Friday (May 30) saw the release of just two flicks – Hansal Mehta-directed <keyword id="502037" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Citylights">Citylights</keyword> and newbie film-maker <keyword id="1307809" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aman-Sachdeva">Aman Sachdeva</keyword>’s <keyword id="1444695" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kuku-Mathur-Ki-Jhand-Ho-Gayi">Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi</keyword> (well, this one is produced by <keyword id="6354597" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ekta-Kapoor">Ekta Kapoor</keyword>, <keyword id="154993" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Shobha-Kapoor">Shobha Kapoor</keyword> and Bejoy Nambiar). Although both are hatke movies in a way and the former has earned enough critical accolades, none could manage an impressive showing at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword> and recorded only 5-10% occupancy on debut day. 
 
Citylights, however, did considerably well after collecting just Rs 70 lakh on the opening Friday. The movie hit 500 screens and went on to earn Rs 3.57 crore at home in the first three days, according to <keyword id="6356809" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="producer">producer</keyword> figure (trade figure puts it at Rs 3.18 crore). But the crucial first Monday collections dipped again to Rs 60 lakh (approx). However, keeping in mind it is a <keyword id="2289947" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Low-budget-movie">low-budget movie</keyword> and cost around Rs 7 crore including P&amp;A, Citylights may just avoid losses. 
 
On the other hand, <keyword id="2289921" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kuku-Mathur">Kuku Mathur</keyword> Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, a rom-com drama with a <keyword id="2289946" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="quirky-title">quirky title</keyword> and an unmistakable <keyword id="2289944" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Delhi-flavour">Delhi flavour</keyword>, has garnered a paltry Rs 1.60 crore over the first weekend, against an estimated budget of Rs 6 crore. In addition, it has landed into further trouble as a resident of <keyword id="6355556" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="bhopal">Bhopal</keyword> has reportedly filed a Public Interest Litigation (<keyword id="6355791" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="PIL">PIL</keyword>) against <keyword id="766823" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Balaji-Motion-Pictures">Balaji Motion Pictures</keyword>, claiming that the film’s title has hurt the sentiments of the Kayastha community. Kuku Mathur was released across 700 screens but going by its performance, it can be a clean washout at the box office. 
 
But what has gone wrong with Citylights? For one, the movie gives you a taste of unsavoury reality that is bound to jolt viewers. Inspired by the British film <keyword id="467511" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Metro-Manila">Metro Manila</keyword>, Citylights by <keyword id="303" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Director">director</keyword> <keyword id="4684" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hansal-Mehta">Hansal Mehta</keyword> (of Shahid fame) pieces together the gripping tale of an <keyword id="2289953" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Uprooted-family">uprooted family</keyword> and their desperate struggle to survive in the ruthless city of Mumbai. The <keyword id="1097560" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="storyline">storyline</keyword> unveils a touching human document, superbly portrayed by the lead couple – <keyword id="1946388" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajkummar-Rao">Rajkummar Rao</keyword> (<keyword id="6357110" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="deepak">Deepak</keyword>) and debutante <keyword id="2222926" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Patralekha">Patralekha</keyword>. Even the crime drama blends well with the colourful kaleidoscope – gentle, sombre, harsh and tragic at times. The ending is undoubtedly filmy, but the rest shines with a rare sensitivity that saves Citylights from being a cliché. 
 
 
 
In contrast, Kuku Mathur is a <keyword id="2289956" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Light-comedy">light comedy</keyword>, telling the story of two fast <keyword id="343" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Friends">friends</keyword> – Kuku Mathur (<keyword id="803840" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Siddharth-Gupta">Siddharth Gupta</keyword>) and <keyword id="2289924" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ronnie-Gulati">Ronnie Gulati</keyword> (<keyword id="2222736" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ashish-Juneja">Ashish Juneja</keyword>) – and their coming of age. This one is Sachdeva’s debut film and there are the usual hiccups in terms of plot and characters. But the lead duo and <keyword id="38050" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amit-Sial">Amit Sial</keyword> (<keyword id="2289962" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Prabhakar-Bhaiya">Prabhakar Bhaiya</keyword>, the baddie uncle trying to influence Kuku) have put in some fantastic acting; the humour is quite <keyword id="678332" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Subtle">subtle</keyword> at times and the <keyword id="2289967" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Delhi-backdrop">Delhi backdrop</keyword> adds some endearing local colours. Kuku’s culinary aspirations bring in a fresh <keyword id="30450" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Touch">touch</keyword>, but a crisper storyline and engaging <keyword id="42057" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Screenplay">screenplay</keyword> could have improved the film vastly. Overall, an average movie with a few ‘wow’ moments and that partly explains the poor box office response. 
 But in case you are longing for another <keyword id="654103" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="smash">smash</keyword> hit like <keyword id="1849408" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kochadaiiyaan">Kochadaiiyaan</keyword> or even <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Box-Office-Kochadaiiyaan-Thrives-On-Rajini-Power-Heropanti-Soaring-High/articleshow/35710189.cms">Heropanti</a>, wait till you get to watch Akshay Kumar-starrer <keyword id="2113212" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Holiday-A-Soldier-Is-Never-Off-Duty">Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty</keyword>, to be released on June 6. It is a remake of the Tamil hit <keyword id="2289970" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tuppaki">Tuppaki</keyword> and also stars <keyword id="62210" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sonakshi-Sinha">Sonakshi Sinha</keyword>. Let us wait and see if ‘Akki’ can break the box office jinx.

Stock markets all over the world, including Sensex, Nifty, Nikkei, and NASDAQ fell significantly today, as they reacted to weak US labor market data, with unemployment rates inching up to 4.3%, from 4.1% in July 2024. In response, the Nikkei 225 dipped around 4,451 points, witnessing the worst losses it has seen since 1987. On the other hand, the Sensex plunged over 2,000 points, and the NASDAQ also slipped 417.98 points. Nifty also closed the day at 24,055.60, down by 2.68%. Here's what the experts have to say <h2>Market corrections = Opportunities </h2>Vinnaayak Mehta, Founder, The Infinity Group, a personal finance consultancy says that given the current market downturn, it is important for investors to stay calm, and not make any hasty decisions. "Market corrections can offer opportunities to buy quality stocks at more attractive valuations. Investors should take this time to evaluate their portfolios, focusing on long-term goals and strong fundamentals rather than short-term <keyword id="19908008" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="volatility" source="keywords">volatility</keyword>. This period of correction may present a chance to reassess asset allocations and consider strategic adjustments", he says. <h2>Expect low returns in the short run</h2> Mr. Sandeep Bagla, CEO of Trust Mutual Funds advises investors to keep their return expectations low and realistic, at least in the short run. Invest only if you have a suitably long <keyword id="19895437" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investment" source="keywords">investment</keyword> horizon. This will help you go through an imminent, upcoming market correction, along with helping you tide over periods of volatility in the interim. "Markets like India, where domestic economy is like more resilient than other economies, could be less affected in the mayhem. However, you should keep systematically investing in the stock markets, and not hit brakes on your investments. Stay invested to reap benefits from growth over the long term", he explains. <h2>Indians markets are relatively safe </h2>As per Siddharth Alok, AVP Investments, Multi Ark Wealth-Epsilon Money Group, investors should consider buying in these dips, but only if their investing horizon is over 3 years. "As valuations further rise, these sudden down moves might become more frequent. Equity markets returns are never linear. However, the direct impact on Indian markets remains limited; this can be seen from the overall relative strength that domestic markets are witnessing, while <keyword id="19908188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-markets" source="keywords">global markets</keyword> are down 10-20%, Indian markets are hardly down 5% including today from their recent peaks", highlights Alok. <h2>Invested heavily in small and mid caps? Time to move </h2> During any market corrections, mid and small caps are the first in line of fire. Given that both of these segments are far more volatile, as compared to their stable, large-cap counterparts, the impact of a correction is far more visible on small cap and mid cap stocks. As Jay Shah, Founder &amp; CEO, Finwisor puts it, "when the markets are at rich valuations, the markets become fragile and look for opportunities to correct. The correction generally happens disproportionately-more in small caps and less in large caps". Amidst today's rout, while Nifty50, an index of India's top 50 companies by market capitalization stumbled about 2.68%, Nifty midcap 50 was down by 3.28%, while midcap 100 plunged by 3.55%. Going a step ahead, Nifty small cap 100, a larger universe of just small cap stocks, dipped by 4.57%. In such a situation, Shah suggests that long-term investors who are sticking to their asset allocation strategies should sit still, while those who are heavily invested in midcaps and small caps should move their investments large-cap stocks. And in case one is sitting on idle cash, this is a good time to start deploying their funds in the market.

Pippa Ishaan Khatter-starrer war film 'Pippa' is a thrilling narrative of a landmark moment in history, the 'Battle of Garibpur', during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, that was pivotal in Bangladesh's struggle for independence. The film features Ishaan as the real-life war hero Captain Balram Singh Mehta along with Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan in pivotal roles. The movie is based on the book 'The Burning Chaffees' by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. The film is written by Menon, Tanmay Mohan, and Ravinder Randhawa. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP and Siddharth Roy Kapur's Roy Kapur Films, and directed by Raja Krishna Menon, it will release on Prime Video on November 10. Ghoomer With an inspiring storyline, the movie features a stellar cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Saiyami Kher, Angad Bedi and a special appearance by Amitabh Bachchan. Helmed by R Balki, Ghoomer is produced by Hope Film Makers and Saraswati Entertainment. It is an emotional story with multiple layers. The first season centres on Wynonna fighting the revenants who kidnapped her older sister Willa from their homestead when they were girls and the threat posed by Bobo Del Rey, the leader of the local revenants. It will be released in Hindi on MX Player on November 15.

Now, CBI will investigate Sushant Singh Rajput death case. SC says Bihar government is competent enough to transfer case to CBI for investigation. Moreover, according to the apex court, FIR registered by Bihar Police is correct, reference to CBI is lawful. Previously, the Bihar government in its submission to the apex court said, "It is apparent that it is on account of political pressure in the State of Maharashtra that neither the FIR has been registered by the Mumbai Police nor did they extend any cooperation to Bihar Police in discharging their obligation to conduct investigation expeditiously." The Centre has sought the apex court's nod for investigation into the case by the CBI and ED. The Centre told the apex court that the CBI has already registered an FIR while acceding to the request made by the Bihar government. Rhea in her written submissions had told the Supreme Court that the Patna FIR could at best be regarded as a zero FIR and should be transferred to Mumbai police and insisted that Rajput's father has made baseless allegations against her. "A plain reading of the subject FIR is clearly indicative of the fact that no such consequence of such alleged act has ensued within the State of Bihar. The maximum that may be done in such instance, is for the FIR to be registered as a 'Zero FIR' and the same may be forwarded to the Police Station having jurisdiction over the matter", said Rhea in the written submissions. Sushant Singh Rajput's father K.K. Singh has informed the Supreme Court that Rhea has already begun to influence witnesses connected with the case and took a U-turn on a CBI probe. Singh in the affidavit said the mail relied upon by Rhea raises a question if the email was sent by Siddharth Pithani to Mumbai Police, and asked why was the same shared by the potential witness with Rhea, who is a prime suspect in the case. "Nevertheless, the email is sent after the registration of the FIR and one day before the filing of the present transfer petition and thus the said email seems to be procured by the petitioner (Rhea) from the potential witness, who seems to be already under her influence", said the affidavit filed through advocate Nitin Saluja. Singh's counsel had argued that Rhea too wanted a CBI probe into the matter, and questioned why she was against it now. "Moreover, as stated in the Petition that the Petitioner (Rhea) through her social media platform had requested the Union Home Minister for a CBI inquiry and now since the Respondent No.1 (Bihar government) has entrusted the aforesaid FIR to the CBI and Union of India has accepted the said request of the Respondent No.1, the Petitioner should not have any grievance in this regard". Rhea contended that the investigations in Bihar are totally illegal and such illegal proceedings cannot be transferred to CBI in the present manner by way of illegal executive orders. "The Petitioner has no objection if the transfer of investigation to CBI is done in exercise of powers conferred upon this court under Article 142 of the Constitution of India. Otherwise, the present transfer from Bihar Police to CBI as is done is totally without jurisdiction and contrary to law," said the written submission. The Solicitor General, representing the Centre, had argued it is a fit case for a CBI inquiry. Mehta questioned how Mumbai Police summoned 56 persons and recorded their statements, as they cannot do it under inquest proceedings. He submitted before the court that Mumbai Police never registered an FIR to investigate. He insisted that the ED has already initiated investigation, and after one central agency has registered a case, another central agency (CBI) should be engaged.
