"Overall equity investments in 2024 in the real estate sector are set to hit a new record surpassing $10 billion for the first time," the report said. With a resurgence in investment inflows in built-up office assets and a strong acquisition pipeline for land in the residential sector, the overall equity investments in 2024 would be in the $10-11 billion range. During January-September, institutional and collective vehicle investors accounted for nearly 40% of the overall investments. Developer companies led the total capital inflows with more than 41% share in this period. Domestic investors (predominantly developers) invested nearly USD 6 billion during the first nine months of the calendar year, dominating the overall capital inflows with an almost 65% share. In comparison, foreign investors contributed about $3.1 billion during the same timeframe. Notably, North American and Singaporean investors were the significant contributors, representing about 85% of all foreign capital inflows. This figure exceeded the previous high of 77.49 lakh passengers on August 20 of this year, the data said. On November 18, the Yellow Line, which connects Millennium City Centre in Gurugram to Samaypur Badli in Delhi, saw the highest passenger traffic, with a record 20.99 lakh commuters. The Blue Line followed closely with 20.80 lakh passengers, while the Red Line recorded 8.56 lakh commuters, 8.15 lakh in Pink Line and 7.93 lakh in Violet Line. The Magenta Line saw 6.19 lakh passengers, followed by the Green Line with 4.12 lakh commuters, 81,985 in Airport Line, 57,701 in Rapid Metro, and 50,128, in the Grey Line, as per the data. Thick grey haze continued to choke Delhi for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, with pollution levels remaining alarmingly high at 488 in the 'severe plus' category. To encourage more people to use the metro in this scenario, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is running 60 extra trips on weekdays, offering more capacity than usual, an official statement said. The DMRC has recorded its 25 highest passenger journeys since August this year, the statement added. It emphasised that the more people opt for the metro over private vehicles, the greater the reduction in vehicular emissions, which will help improve the air quality of the city and its surrounding areas. In addition, the DMRC has introduced several measures to make travel more convenient for passengers, the statement read. These include the ability to book single or multiple journey tickets through various digital platforms, allowing passengers to plan their journeys anytime and anywhere without the need to stand in queues at the station. The August 2020 tweet was viewed 13.7 million times before <keyword id="19959118" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter" source="keywords">Twitter</keyword> took it down, and Grant says this was an unauthorized use for which Trump owes him $300,000 in damages. The UK citizen and Barbados resident is one of some two dozen <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/artists-who-dont-want-trump-using-their-music-2018-11">artists who have objected </a>to Trump's use of their music during his three presidential campaigns. But no musician has tangled with Trump more publicly and extensively than Grant. The estate of Isaac Hayes sued Trump in August over his use of "Hold on, I'm Coming," and that case is just getting started.) Despite its relatively low monetary stakes, Grant's lawsuit is being challenged aggressively by Trump, and the oral arguments scheduled for this Friday will debut an extraordinary defense. Trump's lawyers are set to argue that, for decades, Grant somehow neglected to copyright the sound recording, or "master," for "Electric Avenue." Trump's lawyers acknowledge that Grant copyrighted the sheet music 40 years ago. But they say he failed to similarly protect the actual recording that people have danced to at parties and nightclubs since 1983, when the song exploded from an early-MTV staple to a platinum single. Grant never protected what copyright law calls "the fixation of a series of musical and spoken sounds to a 'phonorecord,'" Trump's legal team argues. Therefore, they say, there was no sound-recording copyright for Trump to infringe on. And since Grant's lawsuit claims Trump infringed on not only the sheet <keyword id="23150509" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="music-copyright" source="keywords">music copyright</keyword> but the sound-recording copyright as well, the defense wants the latter claim — the sound-recording half of the lawsuit — thrown out now, even before a trial. <h2>Grant traces the record's copyright to 2001</h2>Not surprisingly, Grant's lawyers see things differently. They say Grant registered the US copyright for the sheet music for Electric Avenue in 1983, the year it hit the charts. And they trace the sound-recording copyright back to 2001. That's the year <keyword id="23150510" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Warner-Records" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Warner Records" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Warner Records">Warner Records</keyword> issued "Eddy Grant: The Greatest Hits," a compilation of 16 songs, one of which was "Electric Avenue." Warner Records' rights to the 16 songs expired five years later, in 2006. Koeltl, has noted is "recognizable" and "catchy." <h2>A last-minute registration</h2>Dueling court filings indicate the two sides will argue on Friday over whether Grant's copyright covers only the album itself (as Trump's side says) or if it covers every song on the album individually (as Grant's side says.) Trump's side may argue that even Grant has tacitly acknowledged that the sound-recording copyright for "Electric Avenue" was never properly nailed down. Two weeks ago, on August 15, Grant applied to the US Copyright Office "for a sound-recording copyright registration of Electric Avenue." "Plaintiffs have requested expedited handling of the application and expect to have the registration number available for the Court before the scheduled oral argument," on Friday, Grant attorney Brett Van Benthysen told the judge <a target="_blank" href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/25072053-eddy-grant-v-trump-grant-applies-sr-copyright-20240816">in an August 16 court filing.</a> Meanwhile, no trial date is in sight. The case has dragged on through four years of pandemic delays, attorney switch-ups, and extensive and ultimately failed settlement negotiations. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-electric-avenue-singer-eddy-grant-depositions-2022-3" target="_blank">Trump was deposed</a> in the case in June 2022. His former social-media director, Dan Scavino, was ultimately deposed as well, but court records show he <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dan-scavino-subpoena-electric-avenue-singer-eddy-grant-copyright-2022-8" target="_blank">fought his deposition subpoena</a> before eventually submitting to questions in February 2023 about his role in posting the tweet. And <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/eddy-grant-electric-avenue-lyrics-explanation-donald-trump-lawyers-2023-9">Grant has been deposed by Trump's lawyers</a>, who asked the artist to "explain" the song. "Do I have to?" Grant responded, according to a transcript excerpt. "That sounds like a trick question," he said. An eventual trial will likely center on whether the song's inclusion in the cartoon was an allowable "fair use" of the work under copyright law, which allows works of art to be transformed or excerpted under limited circumstances. The sides will also battle over how much, if at all, the dollar value of "Electric Avenue" was impacted by its appearance in Trump's Twitter feed. A lawyer for Trump did not respond to requests for comment on this story. A lawyer for Grant, Brett Van Benthysen, declined to comment.
