Hiring for roles in artificial intelligence (AI) and Oil &amp; Gas sectors has witnessed a growth of over 20 per cent in the month of February 2024, a new report showed on Monday. According to the Naukri JobSpeak Index, AI-related roles such as Machine Learning Engineer and Full Stack AI Scientist jumped a staggering 100 per cent and 44 per cent, respectively, in February 2024 vs last year. In the Oil &amp; Gas sector, hiring increased by 21 per cent in February this year compared to last year. As a part of Prime Minister <keyword id="456744" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-vendor">Street Vendor</keyword>'s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme, the MoHUA entered into MoU with Zomato, to bring <keyword id="6770639" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-food-vendors">street food vendors</keyword> on its food-tech platform. In a statement MoHUA said that initially MoHUA and Zomato will run a pilot program by on-boarding 300 vendors across six cities namely - Bhopal, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Vadodara. "The street vendors will be helped with PAN and fssai registration, training on technology/ partner app usage, menu digitization and pricing, hygiene and packaging best practices. Upon the successful completion of the pilot, MoHUA and Zomato plan to expand this initiative across the country in phases," it said. As per the MoHUA, this will give street food vendors online access to thousands of consumers and help these vendors grow their businesses. The MoHUA also launched the Mobile Application for PMSVANidhi se Samriddhi- Socio-economic profiling of PM SVANidhi beneficiaries and their families to link them to various Central government Schemes. "Covid-19 pandemic has restricted consumers from stepping out and forced them to follow physical distancing norms. In the given scenario it is important to connect Street Food Vendors with technology-enabled platforms to help them grow their business, thus helping them gain financially," said the ministry. In a first of its kind initiative, MoHUA entered into an MoU with Swiggy on October 5 last year and it is now joining hands with Zomato to empower street food vendors with digital technology. Zomato joins hands with the Indian government to deliver street food in Bhopal, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, and Vadodara

Railway Minister <keyword id="6356597" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suresh-Prabhu">Suresh Prabhu</keyword> today flagged off the first indigenously built '<keyword id="195876" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Medha">Medha</keyword>' rake on the western corridor of the city, according to a <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword> news report. 
 "We are proud to have built this rake under the Make in India campaign. We are working on various railway projects worth Rs 51,000 crore for the people of Mumbai city, besides projects worth Rs 1.36 lakh crore are underway for the state of <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword>," <keyword id="19179" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="prabhu">Prabhu</keyword> said in his speech. 
 Two Medha rakes were on a trial mode since last two years and have been designed and built at the <keyword id="49000" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Integral-Coach-Factory">Integral Coach Factory</keyword> in Chennai. 
 The seats of these trains are ergonomically designed for better seating comfort of the passengers. The cost of each Medha rake is Rs 43.23 crore, as against Rs 44.36 crore spent for <keyword id="117791" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bombardier">Bombardier</keyword> rakes. 
 
Prabhu said his ministry was on a "mission mode" to transform the Railways. 
 
"We have chalked out a roadmap to transform the railway and therefore, we have prepared the blueprint of long-term, short-term and medium-term investment to achieve this target. Most importantly, railway authorities have been vested powers to use the fund according to their profile," said Prabhu. 
 During the event, Prabhu also flagged off Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Tatanagar-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus <keyword id="3260043" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Antyodaya-Express">Antyodaya Express</keyword> (bi-weekly). 
 Having a seating capacity of 2,000, the <keyword id="113158" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Antyodaya">Antyodaya</keyword> Express is meant to be a long-distance, fully unreserved, super-fast train service, which will cover the distance between the two cities in 25 hours. 
 
20-general-coach Antyodaya train has many advanced amenities like water purifiers, fire extinguishers, mobile charging points, anti-theft arrangement, cushioned luggage racks with coat hooks, LED lights and bio-toilets. 
 The regular service will leave <keyword id="426621" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lokmanya-Tilak-Terminus">Lokmanya Tilak Terminus</keyword> at 1.20 PM every Tuesday and Saturday and enroute the train will halt at Igatpuri, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Gondia, Durg, <keyword id="45327" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raipur">Raipur</keyword>, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Jharsuguda, Rourkela and Chakradharpur stations. 
 Prabhu also flagged off Miraj- Solapur-Miraj Express daily train through a video link, besides announcing <keyword id="4309574" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="lokmanya-tilak-terminus-lucknow-lokmanya-tilak">Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Lucknow-Lokmanya Tilak</keyword> Terminus AC Superfast (weekly), which will commence its regular services from April 8, 2017. 
 
He also laid foundation stone for the construction of the fourth line between Bhusaval-Jalgaon a 24-km stretch at an approximate cost of Rs 260 crores. 
 
During the event, Prabhu also inaugurated the mechanised laundry installed at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (coaching depot) having capacity of 13,000 bed rolls per day.

Indian Railways just got its first 'Make in India' train rake

<keyword id="2581360" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mangaluru-International-Airport">Mangaluru International Airport</keyword> (MIA) has been awarded the best in South India. Also it has been rated the third among all the 52 airports in the country. 
 <keyword id="54875" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airports-Authority-of-India">Airports Authority of India</keyword> (<keyword id="47439" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aai">AAI</keyword>) conducts survey of all the airports once in six months through an external agency. The performances of all the airports are rated on the basis of overall customer satisfaction, according to a news report by an agency. 
 
In the latest survey pertaining to the half year ended December last year, MIA secured 4.72 points out of 5. 
 Airport Director <keyword id="3749654" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="j-t-radhakrishna">J T Radhakrishna</keyword> said in a release here that the rating reflects giant strides made by MIA in the segments of passenger handling and customer satisfaction. 
 Chandigarh airport has taken the top slot in the survey, followed by <keyword id="45327" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raipur">Raipur</keyword>, with the third position being shared by <keyword id="2562160" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mangaluru">Mangaluru</keyword> and <keyword id="42774" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Udaipur">Udaipur</keyword> airports. 
 
The survey covers areas like achievement of the airport, performance of staff, facilities, customs and immigration facilities and safety, the release said.

<keyword id="2402322" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="British-lender">British lender</keyword> <keyword id="6358584" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="HSBC">HSBC</keyword> today announced a consolidation exercise under which it will almost halve its branches in the country to 26 as customers shift to digital alternatives for their banking transactions. 
 
The exercise will also lead to over 300 jobs being affected, which is less than one per cent of its total workforce of over 33,000 people in the country, and "redeployment opportunities will be accorded to the affected employees", the bank said. 
 
"A key priority is the fair treatment of our staff and we will do everything we can to assist affected employees during this business transition. Redeployment opportunities will be accorded to the affected employees," it said in a statement. 
 
The total number of branches will be coming down to 26 in 14 cities from 50 in 29 cities earlier, with a bulk of the impact in smaller centres. 
 
It added that the impacted branches account for only 10 per cent of the customer base of the customer base in the country. 
 
The reduction in branches is due to customers' adoption of digital solutions , it said. 
 
"This change reflects changes in customer behaviour, who are increasingly using digital channels for their banking," the bank said. 
 
"India is a priority market for HSBC and we will continue to invest to achieve sustainable growth by supporting the needs of our customers," HSBC India's chief executive Stuart Milne said. 
 
The consolidation exercise is the result of a strategic review of retail and wealth management vertical and will be carried out in the coming months in a phased manner, said HSBC, which has been present in India since 1853. 
 
The priority is to ensure "changes are implemented in a manner which will minimise disruption to its customers and its staff", the statement said. 
 
The bank said India was the fourth biggest contributor to the group with a pre-tax profit of USD 606 million in 2015 and the retail business is "core" to its India franchise. 
 
Even as the physical locations are reduced, the bank will continue to invest in the retail operations, it said, adding that soon it will be coming out with an "expanded proposition" for top-tier clients. 
 
A list of the impacted branches shared by the bank illustrated that it is withdrawing from smaller cities and towns but will continue to keep its presence in the metros and big cities.

It is closing branches in Guwahati, Indore, Jodhpur, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Thane, Mysore, Nagpur, Nashik, Patna, <keyword id="45327" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raipur">Raipur</keyword>, Surat, Trivandrum, Vadodara and Visakapatnam, while bigger cities like <keyword id="6354925" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kolkata">Kolkata</keyword> (5 branches), Chennai (1), Delhi (2) and Pune (1) will also be impacted. 
 The bank will continue to have its presence in Ahmedabad, <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword> (2 branches), Chennai, Coimbatore, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai (9), New Delhi (3), Noida and Pune, it said. 
 
The announcement comes at a time when the Reserve Bank has asked foreign lenders to turn into wholly-owned subsidiaries (WOS) rather than operate as branches of foreign entities.

HSBC to halve branches in India, slash 300 jobs

In continuation with its project to provide high-speed public <keyword id="47655" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wi-Fi">Wi-Fi</keyword> service at 100 Railway stations across India by end of the year, <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> on Monday announced the launch of its free high-speed public Wi-Fi service at Ujjain, Jaipur, Patna, Guwahati and Allahabad railway stations. 

	Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu will formally inaugurate the service at these stations soon, it said.
 

	Google said it has been deploying the service over the extensive fibre network of Indian Railway's arm Railtel which provides Internet services as RailWire.
 

	With these launches, the service is now live and available to users at 15 stations across the country, it added.
 

	Backed by the "phenomenal" response to the service in Mumbai Central, Google will also extend the project to cover key suburban Mumbai stations working with RailTel.
 

	Google will deploy the service in Dadar, Bandra Terminus , Churchgate, Thane, Kalyan, Panvel, Vashi, Kurla, Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus, Borivali and a few others, it added.
 "We're seeing incredible usage of the Wi-Fi service across the stations and over 2.5 lakhs users are using the service every week, demonstrating more than 2x growth in less than a month," <keyword id="45395" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Google-India">Google India</keyword> Head of Access Programs Gulzar Azad told PTI. 

	Stating that Google is committed to working with Indian Railways and Railtel to deliver high-speed Wi-Fi network that will be available to 10 million Indians by the end of the year, covering 100 of the busiest train stations in India, it said the project will be eventually rolled out to cover 400 train stations across India.
 The Railtel-Google free high-speed public Wi-Fi service is currently available at Mumbai Central, Pune, Bhubaneshwar, Bhopal, Ranchi, <keyword id="45327" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raipur">Raipur</keyword>, Vijayawada, Kacheguda, Ernakulum Junction, Vishakhapatnam, Jaipur, Patna, Guwahati, Ujjain and Allahabad.

Google launches free Wi-Fi services at 5 railway stations

Pitching for peace, unity and harmony against the backdrop of 'intolerance' debate, Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> today asked people to respect each other's traditions and views, saying its absence can obstruct development. 
 "We are a country with diversity. This is our big strength. Harmony is our strength," he said while addressing the National Youth Festival in <keyword id="45327" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Raipur">Raipur</keyword> via video conferencing. 
 
Underlining that his government is working for the development of the country, Modi said, "If we do not maintain harmony, a sense of belonging, we will not be able to make progress. If unity and harmony are not there, if we do not respect each other's traditions and views, then there can be obstruction in the path of development." 
 
He said prosperity, wealth and creation of employment will have no meaning if there is no peace, unity and harmony. 
 "So it is the demand of time that we maintain peace, unity and harmony. These are the guarantee for the country's progress," the Prime Minister told the gathering of youth collected for the four-day event to mark <keyword id="6364300" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swami-Vivekananda">Swami Vivekananda</keyword>'s birth anniversary. 
 He said <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> has shown to the world that the country with hundreds of languages, different religions and such diversity can live in peace. "This is our culture... We have grown up in this culture... We have to preserve this," Modi said and invoked Vivekananda's teachings in this regard. 
 
"We have to nurture unity and strengthen the bridge of harmony," he added. 
 
The comments assume significance as these came against the backdrop of 'intolerance' debate that was triggered following the killing of a Muslim man in Dadri in Uttar Pradesh few months back over rumours that he had consumed beef.
