"He is in a good frame of mind. We are hoping for the best. We just want him to perform the way he did today. He was patient. He is good technically and physically," added Ohlyan.

 "Dhoni has not stepped down. We have appointed Steve <keyword id="11668" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Smith">Smith</keyword> as the skipper for the upcoming season. Frankly speaking, we did not have a good last season and we wanted someone young to lead the side and revamp it ahead of the upcoming season 10," Rising Pune Supergiants owner <keyword id="6355523" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sanjiv-Goenka">Sanjiv Goenka</keyword> told PTI. 
 
This is the first time that the 35-year-old, who had stepped down from Team India captaincy on his own terms in all formats, has been removed from the top position. 
 
The decision comes a day before the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Dhonis-daughter-just-did-a-photoshoot-and-its-cutenessoverloaded/articleshow/55924984.cms">players' auctions</a> scheduled to be held in <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword>. 
 "I have the highest regard for MS Dhoni as a leader and a person. Dhoni continues to be an integral member of our team. He is supportive of the decision keeping the franchise's best interests in mind," <keyword id="7812" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goenka">Goenka</keyword> added. 
 
The most expensive player of the tournament that began in 2008, Dhoni also has been among the most successful.

Pune, who were one of the two teams along with Gujarat Lions to be inducted last season in place of the the suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, were plagued with injury issues.

Dhoni, who holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army, decided to pay tribute to the army by wearing an insignia on his gloves during the India vs South Africa match. The ICC’s decision to remove the gloves has become a point of argument on Indian social media. Indian fans who had first praised the cricketer for showing his love for the Indian army at the international sports platform, then went on to support him and protested against the ICC’s decision. However, some have spoken up about respecting the rules of the game. Indian footballer Baichung Bhutia too has <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/sports/ditch-the-army-insignia-glove-and-respect-the-sport-baichung-bhutias-advice-to-ms-dhoni-2175709.html">reportedly</a> said that Dhoni should remove the gloves to respect the rules and regulations. It was a natural ascension for <keyword id="282" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kishan" source="Orion">Kishan</keyword> when he was included in India's World Cup squad as the second wicketkeeper batsman behind <keyword id="6355454" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kl-rahul" source="Orion">KL Rahul</keyword>. However, his journey to the top has not always been a rosy one. Kishan had to shift from Patna to Ranchi in search of better cricketing facilities. "He is a fighter from a very young age, and was clear in his career as a cricketer. His practice nets (SAIL grounds) were very close to MS Dhoni's house, and he always wanted to follow Mahi bhai's footsteps, and keeps watching his videos. "Luckily for him the JSCA Stadium, where they have turf wickets, was opened in 2013, and it helped him a lot to develop his game," said Monu Kumar, the Jharkhand pacer and a close friend of Kishan. It is easy to mistake Kishan for a clone of Dhoni - a destructive batter who keeps wickets, and both of them come from the same state. But there is more to Kishan than being a mere Dhoni progeny. Former India stumper Kiran More, who has worked with Kishan since 2018 at the NCA as well as at the Mumbai Indians, shared more details about the many contours of his ward's game. "He is a natural at everything he does. I was at the NCA for a wicketkeepers' camp and Kishan had others like <keyword id="956633" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sanju-samson" source="Orion">Sanju Samson</keyword> in his batch. Kishan was so athletic and he had such soft hands even at that age," More told PTI. More said he did not have to tweak Kishan's game much, and just had to make some minor corrections. "He came with a naturally good game. I had to tell him a bit about his head and squatting positions. We also worked a bit on his ball collection and a few other minor techniques. "Later, we worked on the same things a bit more during my time at the Mumbai Indians. What stands out is his ability to adapt and willingness to learn," said More. Those abilities came to the fore when he was asked to bat at No. 5, a first in his nascent career, during the Asia Cup match against Pakistan last week here at Pallekele. Kishan fully exploited the opportunity handed to him making a fluent 82 off 81 balls. More was pleased to see the development of Kishan as a genuine wicket-keeper batter. "Yes, I am sure he will make an impact for India. He is a long-term player and you will not get such players very often. "Kishan being a left-hander will add more variety to the Indian batting order, you know that left-right combination...a dream for any team management," said More. Kishan's knock against Pakistan was all the more important because it came against a top-class bowling unit and India were struggling at 66 for 4 at one stage. Kishan's innings offered little surprise to Mumbai Indians assistant batting coach and former Karnataka batter J Arunkumar. "Many times, we only see one side of his (Kishan's) batting because he is such a fabulous hitter of the ball. But there is more to his batting than that eye-catching shot-making. "He is calm and collected under any situation. That mature head is his biggest asset," said Arunkumar. More agreed to the point. "Yes! He still has a long way to go. But he gives India a brilliant option, and Kishan is quite handy at any batting slot. "Now, we have four excellent wicketkeeper batters - Pant, Rahul, Kishan and Samson. It is a good thing to have this kind of pool of quality players," he added. Ishan Kishan's rise: From a humble village to India's trusted wicketkeeper-batter

The <keyword id="6354756" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="bcci" source="Orion">BCCI</keyword> is planning a massive renovation of at least five major stadiums, with an estimated cost of over Rs 500 crore, ahead of the ODI <keyword id="22177" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="world-cup" source="Orion">World Cup</keyword> in October-November in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. The game has attracted huge money over the past 10 years, making BCCI, the richest board in the world, richer. However, the stoic fan, who has made the game what it has become, is often deprived of basic facilities at most venues around the country. During the India-Australia Test series in February-March, fans had vented their ire over the lack of clean toilets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword>. It is not surprising that Delhi is among the five venues which underwent a gap assessment from the BCCI. A gap assessment outlines the existing gaps between the current and ideal future state of an organisation. As per the list accessed by PTI, the other venues are Hyderabad, Kolkata, <keyword id="13178" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mohali" source="Orion">Mohali</keyword> and Mumbai. The Wankhede in Mumbai had undergone renovation before the India-Australia ODIs last month after a fan complained of poor sanitary conditions at the famous stadium. Even if one doesn't factor in the cost of roof renovation, which is not a possibility at least in Delhi due to structural flaws at the venue, the costs are huge. It will cost Rs 100 crore to revamp the Delhi stadium, Rs 117.17 crore for Hyderabad, Rs 127.47 crore for the iconic Eden Gardens at Kolkata, Rs 79.46 crore for the ageing PCA stadium in Mohali and Rs 78.82 crore for Wankhede. The costs increase drastically if roof work is involved. Mohali, though, is not a World Cup venue this year. The renovation work includes landscape work, interior work, development of media centre (in Delhi and Kolkata), setting up of digital and entertainment kiosks, upgradation of stadium chairs (foldable) and light fixtures, and wifi-system installation apart from developing stadium Apps. The renovation work also includes toilet renovation with waterproofing and lighting. Twelve venues have been shortlisted to host World Cup games and they include Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, the likely venue for the final. A total of 48 games will be played in the 46-day ICC event. India last hosted the ODI World Cup in 2011 when the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led team lifted the trophy.
