<ul><li><keyword id="6357120" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="paytm" source="Orion">Paytm</keyword> has planned a major push for the company and its partners.</li><li>It aims to focus on the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.</li></ul>Paytm has announced that the company and its partners will allocate ₹100 crore for marketing activities during the <keyword id="36208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="festive-season" source="Orion">festive season</keyword>. These campaigns will be aligned to promote digital payments in India and educate users about Paytm UPI for money transfers, <keyword id="3032681" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm-wallet" source="Orion">Paytm Wallet</keyword> and Paytm Postpaid (Buy Now, Pay Later) for spends, to drive financial inclusion across the country. The company has also announced “Paytm Cashback Dhamaka”, a cashback festival starting from October 14, where users can win cashback for money transfers, online, offline payments or recharges done through the app. The idea is to bring exciting offers and drive the adoption of Paytm’s digital payment instruments to more and more users across the country. The program will be rolled out across all districts in India — from merchant partners’ stores to large retail outlets, as well as online platforms. There will be a special focus on the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. During the peak festive season (October 14-November 14), everyday 10 lucky winners will win ₹1 lakh each, 10,000 winners will get ₹100 cashback, while another 10,000 users will win ₹50 cashback. Closer to Diwali (November 1-3) users can win upto ₹10 lakh daily. Users also stand a chance to win an iPhone 13, tickets for the T20 World Cup, shopping vouchers from top brands like Levi’s, Leaf headphones, among many others, and many more exciting rewards. Users can win cashback by using Paytm for their mobile, broadband DTH recharges, utility bill payments, money transfer, booking travel (flight/bus/train) tickets, paying credit card bills, booking movie tickets, FASTag payments, transactions at online and offline kirana stores and so much more. The offer is applicable for payments made through all the major payment options offered by the company — Paytm Wallet, Paytm UPI, Paytm Postpaid (Buy Now, Pay Later), credit cards/debit cards among others. <keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword>, the digital payments platform, has decided to spend Rs 600 crore on marketing initiatives for its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Wipro-to-handle-Paytms-payments-bank-for-a-year/articleshow/52073018.cms">payment banking unit </a>which is to be launched later this year. 
 
The Noida-headquartered company has already been issued an <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/PayU-India-and-Paytm-BBPOU/articleshow/52293605.cms">in-principle license by RBI </a>in August 2015, and now stands eligible to launch <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Paytm-founder-Vijay-Shekhar-Sharma-will-now-chair-IAMAI-payments-banks-group/articleshow/51823654.cms">payment banking</a> operations in the country. 
 
The 600-crore budget will be utilised across several media platforms including, television, digital print, radio and out-of-home advertising. Rs 50 crore has already been set aside for TV commercials, and one can spot them being aired on Indian channels.

"We are looking at increased saliency around our money transfer, which includes, person-to-person payments at kirana stores and petrol pumps bill payments and movie ticketing businesses. We expect a minimum 40 per cent jump across all these categories," said Shankar Nath, senior vice-president, Paytm.

Paytm plans Rs 600 crore marketing budget for payment banks unit

<keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword> has announced its plans to bring every big and small merchant in India on its platform, where any merchant with a Paytm app can transact up to Rs 50,000 monthly by self declaring himself as a businessman. 
 Paytm’s <keyword id="198636" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vijay-Shekhar-Sharma">Vijay Shekhar Sharma</keyword> said, "We expect to add 15 lakh merchants on paytm by the end of this week." 
 
Currently, they already have 15 lakh merchants on their platform. 
 
The process is simple and is done in 4 steps with the merchant going on 'accept payments' on the top right of the app and then going on to fill the card details of the customer trying to make the payment. 
 
The entire process will take less than 5 minutes. However, if Rs 50,000 was feeling limited for a merchant, he can get rid of any limits through signing up with Paytm as a full time merchant on the platform. Once a full time merchant, there are no limits to transactions. 
 
No fees will be charged from merchants up to 31st December 2016 after self declaration. 
 
As far as security is concerned, none of the details of their bank accounts or card details will ever be saved with the merchant.

-Cities where Paytm is used the maximum are Hyderabad &amp; Chennai with as many as 4 transactions a day on average up from 4 transactions a week from a few weeks ago 
 
- In the top 50 cities, this figure is 3 transactions a day on an average 
 
- The most transacted items on Paytm are Groceries, QSR and local transport 
 
- Paytm's annual marketing budget is Rs 500-600 cr 
 
-Since demonetization, the monthly spend has gone 3x for November 
 
- In 2015-16, Paytm spent Rs 2546 crore on marketing 
- On the Payment platform- credit card fees will be 2%

Recently, Paytm, Jabong and Hotstar have partnered with mobile companies like Samsung, Microsoft, Panasonic, Micromax, Karbonn and the like to pre-embed their mobile apps on outgoing smartphones. 
 
Shankar Nath, Senior Vice President at Paytm answers your questions about such pre-bundled apps: 
 
Why would my smartphone now come pre-installed with such apps? 
 
Manufacturers are doing this to add value to their products. The move will only help facilitate India’s massive movement to apps in terms of people transacting online. 
 
When can we expect Paytm enabled smartphones? 
 
Few models from Micromax, Intex, Lava and Karbonn are already in the market. Lumia models would have it sometime later. It’s an ongoing process. 
 
Do you feel jittery that this might put off a lot of non-Paytm budget smartphone users? 
 
As technology has advanced, processing power has kept going up, and smartphone costs have kept going down. Most of these apps are very light and most people will find it useful. Otherwise, one can always uninstall. 
 
What kind of sales hike are you expecting? 
 
The app will certainly allow us to reach a wider user base. 3/4th or nearly 80% out of the total million transactions a day we process is through a mobile. 
 
Any plans to go mobile only, like Myntra? 
 
None as of now. We get a significant amount of business through our app. So it’s a crucial part of our overall distribution and marketing efforts. However, we’d like to have all channels available.

pre-bundled mobile apps

New Delhi, Feb 24 () The Competition Commission on Monday ordered a detailed investigation against Make My Trip (MMT) and OYO for allegedly indulging in anti-competitive business practices. While ordering the probe, CCI also noted that a case against MMT and OYO for entering into a vertical arrangement having an appreciable adverse effect on competition (AAEC) in the market is also "prima facie" made out. "The Commission is of the view that prima facie a case of contravention against MMT for abuse of dominant position... is made out on account of all the three allegations analysed supra," the Competition Commission of India (CCI) said. The order came on a complaint filed by Rubtub Solutions Pvt Ltd which operates under the brand name of Treebo Hotels in India and is in the business of providing franchising services to budget hotels. As per the complaint, Treebo and its partner hotels are being excluded from listing on MMT's platform through abrupt termination pursuant to the commercial arrangement between MMT and OYO. Besides, MMT is alleged to have imposed "price parity restriction" on Treebo partner hotels through the chain agreement, which restricted it from providing its properties to Booking.com and Paytm at a better price. Additionally, MMT allegedly imposed an "exclusivity condition" on Treebo through exclusivity agreement which restricted it from listing its properties on Booking.com and Paytm for 72 hours and 30 days prior to check-in for hotels situated in category A and category B cities, respectively. The complainant said that OYO has abused its dominant position in the market of franchising services for budget hotels in India by entering into an anti-competitive vertical arrangement with MMT, which is a dominant online travel agency (OTA), thereby denying market access to it. Accordingly, the Commission on "prima facie" finding the contravention of relevant provisions of Competition Act, directed DG, its investigation arm to conduct a detailed probe. SRS RVK

CCI orders detailed probe against Make My Trip, OYO

(Eds: Adding details) New Delhi, Feb 24 () The Competition Commission on Monday ordered a detailed probe against MakeMyTrip (MMT) and OYO for allegedly indulging in unfair business practices, on a complaint filed by the operator of Treebo Hotels. This is the second time in less than six months that the fair trade watchdog has called for an investigation against the two entities after finding prima-facie evidence of violation of competition norms. MMT, an online travel agency, has a pact with OYO, which provides franchising services to budget hotels. The complainant -- Rubtub Solutions -- operates Treebo Hotels, a competitor to OYO. Exclusion of Treebo and its partner hotels from listing on MMT platform pursuant to the commercial arrangement between the latter and OYO, price parity restrictions on the platform and exclusivity condition on Treebo are the three main issues raised by the complainant, as per the watchdog. In a 13-page order, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) said that a case against MMT and OYO for entering into a vertical arrangement having an appreciable adverse effect on competition in the market is also "prima facie" made out. "The Commission is of the view that prima facie a case of contravention against MMT for abuse of dominant position... is made out on account of all the three allegations analysed supra," it noted. The watchdog's probe arm -- Director General (DG) -- has been directed to investigate the current matter along with those that were referred in October last year, and submit a consolidated investigation report. In October 2019, CCI ordered a probe against MMT-GoIbibo and OYO. As per the complainant, Treebo and its partner hotels are being excluded from listing on MMT's platform through abrupt termination pursuant to the commercial arrangement between MMT and OYO. It was alleged that MMT imposed "price parity restriction" on Treebo partner hotels through the chain agreement that restricted on them from providing properties on Booking.com and Paytm at a better price. Taking cognisance of the "chain agreement", CCI noted that it entails price parity as well as room parity condition. It provides that neither Treebo can provide a better rate compared to competing online travel agencies nor can they provide rooms to online travel agency unless those rooms are first made available on the platform of MMT. Additionally, MMT allegedly imposed an "exclusivity condition" on Treebo through exclusivity agreement which restricted it from listing its properties on Booking.com and Paytm for 72 hours and 30 days, respectively, prior to check-in for hotels situated in certain cities. The watchdog said that such restriction "prima facie appears unfair, and hence exploitative" for the Treebo partner hotels as it denies them an opportunity to list on other platforms and to gain access to those platforms, especially Booking.com which appears to be the closest competitor of MMT, during the busiest booking periods. According to the complainant, OYO has abused its dominant position in the market of franchising services for budget hotels in India by entering into an anti-competitive vertical arrangement with MMT.
