The company also confirmed that the battery of the vehicle is intact and functional. In addition, the company informed "the customer is safe and unharmed". A user had shared the video of the incident on X, mentioning that the model of the scooter was Ola S1, which caught fire, and the incident happened near the parking lot of D.Y Patil College in Pimpri Chinchwad. "Shocking..... Ola S1 Get fired At Parking Near D Y Patil Institute Pimpri Pune," the user wrote. The news was first reported by Pune Mirror. The video shows heavy smoke coming out of a scooter while the fire brigade team uses a water hose to control it. While there have been no casualties reported, the scooter was severely damaged. This is the second such incident involving Ola's electric scooters in Pune. Another Ola S1 Pro scooter caught fire in the Dhanori area of Pune in March 2022. In July this year, an <keyword id="4393078" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ola-electric" source="Orion">Ola electric</keyword> scooter worth Rs 149,000 reportedly caught fire at a residence in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district. New Delhi, <keyword id="20643931" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tvs-mobility" source="keywords">TVS Mobility</keyword> on Monday said it has formed a joint venture with the Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Corporation to establish a comprehensive vehicle mobility ecosystem in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword>. As part of the collaboration, Mitsubishi Corporation will initially invest Rs 300 crore with both parties committed to support the growth of the joint venture. This investment is intended to propel both the parties' vision in relation to vehicle ownership in passenger cars, commercial vehicles and material handling equipment (MHE), <keyword id="20036540" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tvs" source="keywords">TVS</keyword> Mobility said in a statement. The business model will have the potential to achieve USD 2 billion revenue in the next 3-5 years' time, it added. With this, the dealership business of TVS Mobility will transform into TVS Vehicle Mobility Solution (TVS VMS) offering a complete portfolio of services to its customers. "TVS Mobility, had pioneered the sales, service and distribution of vehicles market through its dealership business in India. This collaboration with MC will enable TVS to provide a range of solutions to the entire vehicle mobility ecosystem," TVS Mobility Director R Dinesh said. After providing integrated and digital platforms for the independent aftermarket, the vehicle mobility business will provide digitally-enabled solutions to customers, be it enterprises, corporates or fleet owners, he added. The partners would also expand partnership with vehicle manufacturers to provide integrated solutions across vehicle sales, operating of vehicles and Vehicle-as-a-Service solutions, Dinesh said. Combined with the next three companies, the top five smartwatch makers account for 81% of the market share, a new high. Despite there being over 125 smartwatch makers in the industry, the remaining 120 companies are responsible for less than 20% of the total shipments. “The market saw over 125 active smartwatch brands in 2023 even as it started moving towards consolidation. The combined share of the top five brands reached the highest ever at 81%. In addition, growth of emerging players like Fastrack, Boult and BeatXP led to further consolidation of the market,” said Harshit Rastogi, research analyst, Counterpoint Research. Fire Boltt, which has a diverse portfolio and a strong offline presence continues to lead the market with a 29.6% market share in 2023, up from 26.5% in 2022. Affordable smartwatches dominate the market The improved performance of players like Fire Boltt and Noise has been due to their affordable offerings. There has been a significant increase in the shipments of smartwatches priced under ₹2,000. Out of all the smartwatches shipped in 2023, 54% of the smartwatches were priced under ₹2,000, which is up from 26% in 2022. “The product portfolio of the top players expanded quite a lot compared to 2022 to cater to different customer segments. Moreover, the market is now further skewed towards the lower price bands with 54% of the shipments in 2023 coming under the ₹2,000 retail price band, up from 26% in 2022,” Rastogi added. Samsung and <keyword id="19894961" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="apple" source="keywords">Apple</keyword>, which offer premium smartwatches failed to enter the top five in terms of market share. Apple however leads the market when it comes to premium smartwatches priced above ₹20,000. “While the market continues to register high growth rates, we are seeing some stabilisation, signaling wider adoption. The quarterly growth rates have come down from triple to double digits. We expect the market to grow 23% YoY in 2024,” said Anshika Jain, senior research analyst, Counterpoint Research.
