‘New generations of <keyword id="180553" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kashmiri-Pandits">Kashmiri Pandits</keyword> are born in exile, in refugee camps even after 26 years, ain’t that a matter of utter shame?’ 
 Questions like these are pouring in at Twitter as Kashmiri Pandits mark <keyword id="3213798" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="exodus-day">Exodus Day</keyword>. Twenty six ago in 1990, more than 300,000 Kashmiri Pandits, or Kashmiri Hindus, had fled the Valley, during insurgency, with a hope that peace will restore and they will return back. 
 
More than two decades have passed and the successive governments have failed to ensure normalcy for Kashmiri Pandits. While recounting stories during insurgency, Kashmiri Pandits say their homes were burnt and lands were grabbed. The community says they fear the same as the talks have largely remained on papers. 
 
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Indian government stormed into power in 2014, he spoke about rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley, along with various welfare schemes. Even President Pranab Mukherjee backed Modi, saying it was an issue of prime importance and Kashmiri Pandits will not be left out in development schemes. 
 
However, an RTI states the opposite. 
 
Mail Today, which had access to an RTI filed by a member of Roots in Kashmir Rasnik Kher, reported that things are at a standstill even after one and a half years. 
 
Kher said there has been talk on the same, neither the Centre nor the state government seems to be interested in the issue. As per Kher, there is no plan. 
 Meanwhile, Bollywood actor <keyword id="6533" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anupam-Kher">Anupam Kher</keyword> has been active on this issue, raising his voice against the unfair treatment.

A recipient of the country's second highest civilian honour, Padma Vibhushan, Maharaj ji was also a lifelong Kathak guru as well as a talented Hindustani classical singer and percussionist. He will be remembered by cinema buffs for the two period dance sequences in <keyword id="14969" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="satyajit-ray" source="Orion">Satyajit Ray</keyword>'s historical drama 'Shatranj Ke Khiladi' (for which he sang as well) and for the 'Kaahe Chhed Mohe' track picturised on Madhuri Dixit in the 2002 version of 'Devdas'. Maharaj ji won the National Award for choreographing 'Unnai Kaanadhu Naan' in the Kamal Haasan multi-lingual megahit 'Vishwaroopam' and the Filmfare Awards for the Bajirao Mastani number 'Mohe Rang Do Laal'. Adnan Sami, one of the first artistes to pay his tributes to the doyen of Kathak, said in a tweet: "Extremely saddened by the news about the passing away of Legendary Kathak Dancer <keyword id="12966839" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pandit-birju" source="Orion">Pandit Birju</keyword> Maharaj ji. We have lost an unparalleled institution in the field of the performing arts. He has influenced many generations through his genius. May he rest in peace." Another early tribute came from Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who tweeted: "Pandit Birju ji Maharaj was a doyen of India's art and culture. He popularised the Lucknow gharana of Kathak dance form around the world. ... His passing away is a monumental loss to the world of performing arts." Birju Maharaj was the son of the exponent of the Lucknow gharana, Jagannath Maharaj, better known as Acchan Maharaj, whom he lost when he was just nine. His uncles were the renowned Shambhu Maharaj and Lacchu Maharaj. He taught at the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra and the Sangeet Natak Akademi <keyword id="1547242" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kathak-kendra" source="Orion">Kathak Kendra</keyword>, both in Delhi, from where he retired as director in 1998. Look. I know <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=startups&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">startups</a> are the flavour of the season what with everyone realising how they’re meant to start their own company and not sit behind a desk all day ranting about the weather, traffic and <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> (like I’m doing here) but it’s time we accept that enough is enough, all right? 
 
Not every idea you have while you’re showering is worth turning into a living breathing company and through this article I intend to highlight just that.

Okay, I might’ve exaggerated a bit in that last paragraph. Sure, some start-ups and their apps actually make lives easier for us, especially like the time I got watermelons delivered home through Grofers and didn’t have to smell them before buying. 
 
Having said that, I would also like to address the fact that shit has hit the roof when it comes to the frequency of start-ups popping up every other day; I bet, there’s a new startup in Bangalore after every five minutes. Or seconds. I’m not sure. 
 
Apart from the fact that most of the existing start-ups are just copies of some other startup and very rarely have any distinguishing factor, there is also a fraction of start-ups that are just plain ridiculous and if I had my way, (which I don’t) they wouldn’t exist. We can't afford to be this lazy, seriously.

One can either customise their bindis with their pre-designed options or choose from their Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond collections. Incase, I haven’t mentioned the bindis in question, are expensive as hell. 
 
Remember the days when all you had to do is use your legs and go to your neighbourhood cosmetic store to get a packet of bindis for just 20 rupees and didn’t even in your wildest dream think that it was plausible or possible to have a website dedicated entirely to booking bindis that cost Rs 4999? How about you take a walk to your neighbourhood temple and find a pandit yourself? 
 
They also have an E-Puja option. Is that a thing now? What is an E-Puja? I’m angry now.

Indian startups that are so ridiculous they really shouldn’t exist

New Delhi, Jun 14 () The Railways has deployed 204 isolation coaches in four states, including 54 at Delhi's Shakurbasti railway station maintenance depot, officials said, adding that the number in the capital will be scaled up to 500 in the coming days. Home Minister Amit Shah earlier Sunday had said the Centre would also provide 500 railway coaches to Delhi to overcome the shortage of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients. States like Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi requisitioned these coaches two months after the national transporter converted over 5,000 of its non-air conditioned coaches into COVID care centres. Seventy coaches have been deployed in Uttar Pradesh -- 10 each in Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Faizabad, Saharanpur, Mirzapur and Jhansi. Fifty-four have been deployed at Shakurbasti maintenance depot in Delhi. Sixty coaches have been deployed in Telangana -- 20 each in Secunderabad, Kachguda and Adilabad and 20 coaches in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada. While Uttar Pradesh has asked for 240 such coaches for 24 locations, Telangana has requisitioned 60 for three places and Delhi has asked for 10 such coaches as COVID-19 cases in India surpassed the three lakh-mark. Donal Griffin and Michael Moore report that executives will also take home up to $579 million on top of their regular compensation packages under an executive profit sharing plan, part of which was voted down by Citi shareholders.
This after a rough February when <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/executive-bonuses-at-citigroup-2013-2">shareholders seemed distraught</a> by the $11.5 million pay package Citi announced new CEO Michael Corbat would be taking home. They've been agitating about executive compensation since last April when they <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/vikram-pandit-compensation-2012-10">voted against then-CEO Vikram Pandit's $15 million</a> pay package. The votes are non-binding, but they still send a message.

Consumer banking head Manuel Medina-Mora, 62, will get about $8.8 million under the 2011 plan, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Chief Financial Officer <a href="http://topics.bloomberg.com/john-gerspach/">John Gerspach</a>, 59, will receive about $5.7 million and <a href="http://topics.bloomberg.com/alberto-verme/">Alberto Verme</a>, 55, chairman of banking in <a href="http://topics.bloomberg.com/europe/">Europe</a>, the <a href="http://topics.bloomberg.com/middle-east/">Middle East</a> and <a href="http://topics.bloomberg.com/africa/">Africa</a>, about $7.5 million, the data show. <a href="http://topics.bloomberg.com/michael-corbat/">Michael Corbat</a>, who was named chief executive officer last year, will get about $7.6 million under a separate 2010 plan, according to the data.

Citi Shareholders Won't Be Happy When They Hear About This $579 Million Executive Profit Sharing Plan

Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>, once again, is all set to address U.S. based Indians in the showground dubbed as the "<keyword id="1417364" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shark-Tank">Shark Tank</keyword>". Modi, during his visit to <keyword id="6357722" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="silicon-valley">Silicon Valley</keyword> on September 27/28 will address the masses. 
 As reported by Economic Times, the community leadership in the Bay Area and Modi’s aides has been visiting the region and then zeroed in on the SAP Center in San Jose. NaMo, after Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1949, will become the second Indian PM visiting the west coast. SAP Center is the home of <keyword id="230717" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="San-Jose-Sharks">San Jose Sharks</keyword> in National (ice) Hockey League and is known among sports buffs as the "Shark Tank." 
 The arena, with a capacity to accommodate around 17,000 people is very much like the Madison Square Garden’s in <keyword id="72226" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-York-City">New York City</keyword> where Modi made an awe-inspiring appearance last September. The venue was preferred over Cow Palace in San Francisco, which seats only around 12,000. 
 The SAP Center, when is not hosting NHL/NFL events, is home to entertainment which varies from circuses to concerts. The “Shark Tank” is cited as the fourth busiest arena in the US and also a number of big names in the entertainment industry like <keyword id="15313" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madonna">Madonna</keyword>, Miley Cyrus, Sonu Nigam and even ShahRukh Khan have performed there. In fact, someone else from India is going to beat the Prime Minister to SAP — the comedian Kapil Sharma is slated to perform on August 1. 
 Organizers are expecting an even more crowded event than the Madison Square Garden event, which is still being spoken of in awed tones in New York and <keyword id="6354998" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Washington">Washington</keyword>, considering that California has the largest population of NRIs in the US, with a heavy concentration in the Bay Area. 
 
The Prime Minister’s program is yet to be finalized with the first meeting between his aides and local community organizers kicking off over the weekend. 
 
Apart from the community event at Shark Tank, a tech sortie, given the Prime Minister's interest in technology is also on the cards. Once the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise roped in Langer, Gambhir's exit was always on the cards. While both LSG and Gambhir vehemently denied the move for longest time, a lengthy meeting in Bollywood superstar's Mumbai home had created a lot of buzz about his apparent move, which finally turned into a reality. Venky Mysore, the all-powerful CEO of KKR, announced that Gambhir will join hands with head coach Chandrakant Pandit. "I am not an emotional person and not many things move me. But this is different. This is back to where it all started. Today, there is a lump in my throat and fire in my heart as I think about slipping into that purple and gold jersey once again," Gambhir was quoted as saying in a press note issued by franchise. "I am not only coming back to KKR but I am coming back to the 'City of Joy'. I am back. I am hungry. I am number 23. Ami KKR," the former India KKR's principal Shah Rukh Khan said: "Gautam has always been part of the family and this is our 'Captain' coming back home in a different avatar as a "Mentor". "He was sorely missed and now we all look forward to Chandu Sir and Gautam in instilling the never-say-die spirit and of sportsmanship they stand for, in creating magic with Team KKR." Expected to get full authority ================== One thing about Gambhir, who is also an elected Member of Parliament, is that he likes to have his own team and full control of proceedings and he is always ready to bear the brunt of consequences. With Gambhir's re-entry in his "spiritual home", it will be interesting to see the scope and domain for former Mumbai all-rounder Abhishek Nayar, who had a big say in strategic matters related to team selection and combination. With Gambhir, he has always been the "Captain' of the ship as principal owner said in his statement, and KKR fans would hope for a turnaround after a few indifferent seasons.
