New Delhi, Apr 7 () State-run Nalco on Tuesday said it has contributed a sum of Rs 10.2 crore to tackle the coronavirus crisis. Nalco has made a contribution of Rs 5 crore, while its employees have pledged their one-day's salary amounting to Rs 2.6 crore to the PM CARES Fund. Further, the employees of the PSU have also contributed their one-day's salary amounting to Rs 2.6 crore to CM's Relief Fund, Odisha. "Nalconians stand with the nation and people of Odisha in the fight against Covid-19. Nalco contributes Rs 5 crore and one-day salary of employees amounting to Rs 2.6 crore to PM CARES Fund. Also contributes Rs 2.6 crore to CM's Relief Fund, Odisha (contribution of one day salary of employees)," the PSU said in a tweet. National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) is a navratna PSU under the ministry of mines. The company has integrated operations in mining, metal and power sector. In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Nalco has taken several measures "to ensure the wide circulation of Do's &amp; Don'ts in its offices and townships," an official said. Besides, isolation wards have also been set up at the hospitals of the PSU to treat the suspected or infected patients. The company's plants and townships have been sanitised to combat the menace, along with the extensive awareness campaigns to fight the pandemic. SID DRR

New Delhi, Apr 11 () State-run miner Nalco will fund an exclusive 200-bedded hospital for COVID-19 patients in Odisha, the company said on Saturday."Showing commitment and solidarity with the home state in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) ... has come forward to fund an exclusive 200-bedded Covid19 hospital at Nabarangpur, Odisha," the PSU said in a statement.A tripartiteent in this context has been signed by Nalco, District Administration and Christian Hospital, Nabarangpur on Saturday, the statement said.The 200-bedded hospital will have medical facilities exclusively for treatment of Covid 19 patients.Under the agreement a Covid 19 exclusive isolation facility care centre has been made at B.Ed college, Hirli, Nabarangpur.With the exclusive Covid19 hospital being operational in the tribal dominated district of Nabarangpur, hopes are high that it will also be helpful for other adjoining districts of southern Odisha,viz Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Kalahandi. "We have stood with the people of Odisha in the past during natural calamities. This time, the crisis is more challenging and of unprecedented scale, and we at Nalco reiterate our pledge to extend our wholehearted support in whatever ways we can," company's CMD Sridhar Patra said. Bhubaneswar, Apr 1 () National Aluminium Company Limited(NALCO) on Wednesday said it has recorded an all-round successin bauxite and alumina productions, while its aluminiumsmelter achieved more than 90 per cent capacity utilisation in2019-20.With more than 100 per cent capacity utilization, NALCOsPanchpatmali Mines has achieved bauxite production of 73.02lakh MT, which is highest ever since companys inception, theNavaratna PSU said in a statement.Bauxite transportation has gone up to 73.02 lakh MT,which is also highest ever so far, while companys AluminaRefinery has produced highest-ever 21.61 lakh MT of AluminaHydrate and set a new record. Steam &amp; Power Plant (SPP) ofAlumina Refinery has also achieved highest ever net powergeneration.The Aluminium Smelter of NALCO has achieved more than 90per cent capacity utilization with cast metal production of4.18 lakh MT in spite of acute coal crisis in the monsoonseason and also the recent Coronavirus pandemic.Also noteworthy that the DC energy consumption atcompanys smelter plant was at the lowest in 2019-20, it said.Attributing, record performance to the teamwork anddedication of employees, Sridhar Patra, CMD, NALCO said "inthe on-going sluggish metal market, we would be able to tideover the downturn by continuing to keep our focus on bauxitemining and alumina refining arm, coupled with several costreduction measures".Its worth mentioning that despite COVID-19 crisis,NALCOs all units are operational with reduced manpower andcontributing to the national economy.The company is implementing adequate social distancingand sanitization measures in its plants and residential areasto safeguard its employees and workers against corona virusexposure, it added. NALCO records success in bauxite,alumina production

New Delhi, Apr 20 () State-run Nalco and Coal India arm Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) will fully fund two dedicated 350-bed Covid-19 hospitals in Odisha inaugurated on Monday. The hospitals were inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan and Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi through video conferencing. The hospitals started by Odisha government will be run with the help of different medical hospitals of the state. "National Aluminum Company (Nalco) and Coal India subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) will fully fund two dedicated Covid-19 hospitals in Odisha," the mines ministry said in a statement. Nalco will fund a 200-bed hospital set up at Nabarangpur district of Odisha, whereas MCL will fund the 150-bed hospital started at Talcher in Angul district of the state. MCL has also provided its medical college infrastructure for setting up the hospital. "The central government has already issued guidelines to allow state governments to utilise up to 30 per cent of the balance fund available with District Mineral Fund (DMF) to combat Covid-19. This will also help the mineral rich state like Odisha in fighting with the pandemic," Joshi said. Notably, employees of Nalco have contributed their one-day salary amounting to Rs 2.5 crore to Odisha Chief Minister's Relief Fund. MCL is already funding a dedicated 500-bed Covid-19 Hospital at Bhubaneswar. This Coal India arm has also established an over 50-bed isolation centre at Jharsuguda district of Odisha. The company has also pressed into service the state-of-the-art equipment 'Fog Cannon' to sanitise peripheral areas, besides distributing masks and alcohol-based sanitisers among coal miners and people living in and around its operations. New Delhi, Feb 10 () National Aluminium Company (Nalco) on Monday posted a consolidated loss of Rs 33.90 for the quarter ended December 31, 2019. However, the company had posted a consolidated profit of Rs 302.35 crore in the year-ago period, Nalco said in a filing to the BSE. Its consolidated income declined to Rs 2,136.57 crore, compared with Rs 2,794.68 crore a year ago, the filing said. SID HRS

Nalco Q3 loss at Rs 34 cr

New Delhi, Apr 24 () ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund Bharat-22 ETF on Friday picked up shares worth nearly Rs 59 crore in National Aluminium Company (NALCO) through an open market transaction. According to bulk deal data on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), over 1.71 crore shares were purchased at an average price of Rs 34.43 apiece. This took the total deal value to Rs 58.9 crore. On the NSE, NALCO's shares ended at Rs 30.95 apiece, down 8.16 per cent. As per a separate transaction, Yes Bank sold 50 lakh shares of Reliance Naval and Engineering Ltd for Rs 65 lakh. On Thursday, the private lender had sold shares worth Rs 1.13 crore in Reliance Naval and Engineering. On the NSE, the shares of Reliance Naval and Engineering on Friday ended at Rs 1.3 apiece, up 4 per cent. SRS HRS

New Delhi, Feb 25 () Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday laid foundation stone of crusher and conveyor system at NALCO's mining and refinery complex in Damanjodi, Odisha. The system will cater to feed bauxite for the fifth stream of alumina refinery of the company. The project is expected to be completed by April 2022 and would cost around Rs 483 crore, Coal Ministry said in a statement. "We as a country aim to reach USD 5 trillion economy by 2024 and I am sure NALCO will be a success story in this growth trajectory," the minister said. Joshi stated that Odisha has about 51 per cent of bauxite, 25 per cent of coal and 34 per cent of iron ore resources of the country, apart from 96 per cent of chromite and 44 per cent of manganese resources. "Our government has taken a number of steps to unlock the mining potential of mineral rich states for the benefit of the country as well as the population residing in these areas," he said. He also appreciated the state government for supporting mining activities in the region and said that it will help in boosting the economy and bringing development to the state. SID RVK

Coal Minister lays foundation stone for conveyor system at NALCO's Damanjodi refinery

New Delhi, Dec 27 () State-owned aluminium company Nalco is looking to revisit its expansion plans, Chairman and Managing Director Sridhar Patra said on Friday.
He however refused to give details as the plans have to be put before the board.
"We are revisiting (our expansion plans)...Whatever long-term plans you make, you cannot project for 10 or 15 years... because all the factors do not support in that manner," Patra said on the sidelines of a mining summit organised by CII.
"We have to remodify...Whatever bottlenecks were there, we have removed almost all," he said.
Last year, the company had said it was all set to invest over Rs 30,000 crore over the next four years to launch a number of new projects and undertake major expansion programmes. 
The projects under execution include 1 MTPA capacity 5th stream alumina refinery in the existing complex at Damanjodi at an estimated cost of Rs 5,540 crore which is expected to be completed by April 2021, it had said.
Moreover, around Rs 9,000 crore was being spent for establishment of 6 lakh TPA smelter at the existing complex at Angul in Odisha.

Nalco to revisit expansion plans

New Delhi, Apr 6 () Coal India arm MCL will fund the Covid-19 hospital, having 500 beds and 25 intensive care units, in the capital city of Odisha. The hospital was inaugurated on Monday By Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi also attended the programme coordinated through video conferencing. The development comes at a time when concerns have been raised about weak healthcare infrastructure in the country amid the coronavirus outbreak. "Government of Odisha started the country's second largest COVID-19 hospital in Bhubaneswar on Monday. Coal India's subsidiary company is funding the total operations of this hospital having 500 beds and 25 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds with ventilators," an official said. Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) will finance all expenses of the hospital including cost of treatment of patients for which MCL has already released Rs 7.31 crore as immediate advance. The hospital is a great medical asset for the people of Odisha, Joshi said. MCL has also established isolation and quarantine centres with a total capacity of over 250 beds in Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts of Odisha. The company has also pressed into service the state-of-the-art equipment "fog cannon" to sanitise peripheral areas, besides distributing masks and alcohol-based sanitisers among coal miners and people living in and around its operations. "The central government has already issued guidelines to allow state governments to utilise up to 30 per cent of the balance fund available with District Mineral Fund (DMF) to combat COVID-19. This will also help the mineral rich state like Odisha in fighting with the pandemic," Joshi said. "I had personally directed the PSUs of coal and mines ministries to extend best possible support to the respective state governments to help fight COVID-19, which has engulfed most of the countries of the world. I am happy that these PSUs have risen to the occasion," he added. In response, Coal India's subsidiaries have set up over 1,500 quarantine/ isolation beds in eight states. Similarly, employees of Bhubaneswar- headquartered NALCO have pledged to contribute their one day salary amounting to Rs 2.5 crore to Odisha Chief Minister's Relief Fund. NALCO has also given its consent to fund a dedicated COVID-19 hospital to be set up by the government of Odisha in Koraput district. New Delhi, Dec 9 () Solara Active Pharma Sciences on Monday said it has appointed Bharath R Sesha as the its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with immediate effect.
 "The Board of Directors, on the recommendation of Nomination and Remuneration Committee, have appointed Bharath R Sesha as Chief Executive Officer of the Company with effect from December 09, 2019," the company said in a regulatory filing.
 As part of an agreed succession plan, Sesha will succeed Jitesh Devendra as Solara's new CEO.
 Sesha has over two decades of experience and joined Solara from Nalco Water, India where he was the Managing Director responsible for the growth strategy.
 "These are exciting times for the industry, and I hope we will continue to create new opportunities for growth in our business to drive significant value for all the stakeholders," Sesha said.
 Bengaluru-based Solara Active Pharma Sciences has a manufacturing base comprising five globally compliant active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) facilities, with approvals including the USFDA, European good manufacturing practice (EU GMP) and Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) in Japan.

Solara appoins Bharath R Sesha as new CEO

Iron ore miner <keyword id="28423" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="vedanta">Vedanta</keyword> led commodity stocks lower as a strong Dollar, weakness in Chinese markets and the Greek referendum vote going against the EU's bailout hurt sentiment on miners, steel producers and aluminium makers. 

	Losses on these stocks outpaced the drop on the main index.
 Vedanta fell 4.6 percent to 160.50. <keyword id="44374" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hindalco">Hindalco</keyword> down 2.4 percent to 108 rupees and <keyword id="6357147" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Steel">Tata Steel</keyword> dropped 2.3 percent to 294.20 rupees. All four stocks lead the losers list on the <keyword id="6354813" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="nifty">Nifty</keyword>, which fell 0.7 percent. 

	The Dollar has gained strength versus other currencies following safe haven buying after the Greek vote. Commodity prices are inversely related to the Dollar, hence the drop in their stock quotes. A sustained fall in Chinese markets is also spooking sentiment on the commodity space. 
 

	Hindalco, Nalco and JSPL also figured on the list of 52-week lows. 
	 <keyword id="71792" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="NMDC">NMDC</keyword>, meanwhile, reported its Iron Ore production details for the first quarter. Volume sales plunged 24 percent to 5.93 million Tons at a time when it also cut prices for iron ore fines by 300 rupees a ton to 1,660 per ton for the month of July. Since NMDC is also on the list of companies to be divested partially by the Government, its stock is under additional selling pressure.

Not just Greece, weak Dollar and Chinese market pulling down the sensex

India’s nuclear energy expansion programme could very soon be funded by Indian Railways and companies in the energy sector like <keyword id="6354737" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ONGC">ONGC</keyword>, <keyword id="181809" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IOCL">IOCL</keyword> and <keyword id="3715905" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="NTPCL">NTPCL</keyword>. 
 Talks have already been initiated between state-run Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (<keyword id="48159" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NPCIL">NPCIL</keyword>) and cash-rich public sector undertakings in energy sector and the national transported so as to come up with a joint ventures for setting up nuclear power plants throughout the country. 
 "We are in active dialogue with many public sector undertakings. The amended Atomic Energy Act allows NPCIL to collaborate with Indian <keyword id="44880" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PSUs">PSUs</keyword>,” NPCIL director-projects <keyword id="3715906" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="rohit-banerjee">Rohit Banerjee</keyword> told ET. 
 
NPCIL is aiming towards increasing the power generation in the country to 63 GW from the country installed capacity of 6,780 MW and hence is looking forward at leveraging equity from cash-rich PSUs in line. 
 
Many projects are under construction and NPCIL is hoping to set up another 6,700 MW through these projects. It is facing issues regarding land availability, technology sharing issues and low-cost financing. The company currently executes nuclear reactors through a mix of debt and equity, budgetary support and debt financing from the technology sourcing country. 
 For the expansion of the definition of a government company providing for creation of joint ventures that are majorly owned by NPCIL, the Atomic Energy Act 1962 was amended this January. At present only two PSUs - NPCIL and Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Ltd, under the administrative control of the <keyword id="6429238" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Department-of-Atomic-Energy">Department of Atomic Energy</keyword> are authorized to set up nuclear power plants in the country. 
 
Earlier joint ventures by NPCIL had been floated with NTPC, IOC and Nalco to set up nuclear power plants but it could work as the law prohibits such joint ventures.

Aluminium prices are reportedly expected to stay elevated in the near term. Growing disruptions in supply from China are driving prices up. The disruptions are largely because of new emission rules, power shortages and floods in July. High aluminium prices means better realisations for aluminium makers. <keyword id="149555" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahindra-mahindra-financial-services" source="Orion">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra Financial Services</keyword> The non-banking finance company’s stock has surged 8% in the last five days led by heavy volumes. Volumes traded in the stock remained elevated above 5-18 million in the last five days. Besides, the financier was at more than 95% collection efficiency in July and expects it to continue as things normalise, said Ramesh Iyer, vice chairman and managing director of the company in an interview with <a href="https://www.cnbctv18.com/finance/raul-rebello-joins-mm-fin-as-coo-confirms-ramesh-iyer-10501961.htm">CNBC-TV18.</a> The market capitalisation of the company stood at ₹19,768 crore as on August 31. Bandhan Bank Investors seem to be picking up the Kolkata based bank’s stock on expectations of high returns. Analysts at Credit Suisse reportedly believe that the bank would give more than 20% return on equity. With this, it has set a target of ₹370 apiece. As on August 31, the stock price is at ₹284.70 per share. Analysts at Kotak Securities feel the same, as it says return on equity is likely to move more than 20%. After the bank reported a 32% on year decline in net profit due to high provisions, analysts at Kotak Securities said it sees an improvement in the second half of FY22 as the economic situation improves. It has set a target price of ₹335 per share. IndiaMART InterMESH Another stock that turned around in the last five days was B2B e-commerce platform IndiaMart InterMESH. The stock surged more than 10% in 5 days against tepid trading in the rest of August. This is primarily because the company’s stock has been added to the futures &amp; options market from August 27. The move boosts participation in the stock as investors and institutions can hedge underlying positions in the stock. Moreover, the B2B e-commerce platform’s consolidated net profit grew by 19% year-on-year to ₹88 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2021. Hindustan Aeronautics Shares of the state-owned aerospace and defence company were triggered after the company signed a $716-million deal with GE Aviation for supply of engines. Moreover, the stock’s inclusion in the futures and options segment also fueled the rally. ICICIdirect has reportedly set a target price of ₹1,380 per share for the next three months. The stock price stood at ₹1,369.35 as on August 31. <keyword id="11941399" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aptus-value-housing" source="Orion">Aptus Value Housing</keyword> Finance India Shares of the newly listed housing finance company made a turn around after its weak listing last week. Shares of the company had debuted with 6% discount to its issue price and now in the last five days, it has gained 6%. Analysts had remained positive on the stock despite tepid listing as it expects the company to do well in the long run given consistent strong financial performance, industry leading return ratios and good asset quality. Interglobe Aviation Shares of the airline company have been gaining on expectation of recovery in air traffic as pace of vaccinations goes up. A report by ICICI Securities reportedly said that the average daily passenger traffic is recovering gradually after dropping to a low in May 2021 due to second COVID-19 wave’s restrictions. Besides, the appointment of Gregg Saretsky as a special advisor also gave some support to the stock price. He is said to work closely with the executive leadership team to accelerate operational and commercial improvement opportunities at the airline.
