In January this year, a study conducted by Randstad revealed that workers prioritise work-life balance over salary when evaluating potential job opportunities. Please pray for him and for strength to his family and near ones," he wrote. Tributes poured in on Twitter (now X) after hearing that Murty is no more. "Very sad my second boss and what a mentor he was ... I messaged him two days back and he was okay. Got him added to PruICICI group where a reunion is getting planned," a user wrote. "So sad &amp; shocking to hear of Ambareesh Murty's sudden demise due to cardiac arrest. May his soul rest in peace. Murthy stressed the need to create 2,500 institutions to train primary and <keyword id="1851633" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="secondary-school-teachers" source="Orion">secondary school teachers</keyword> by spending $20 billion over the next two decades. For this, he suggested inviting 10,000 retired highly accomplished teachers from over the globe and India. "One possible way of accelerating NEP's outcome is to invite 10,000 retired highly accomplished teachers from the developed worlds and from India in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to create 2,500 'train the teacher' colleges across India", the billionaire businessman said, at the Infosys Prize ceremony, hosted by the Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) in Bengaluru. "We will be able to train 250,000 <keyword id="83234" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="primary-school-teachers" source="Orion">primary school teachers</keyword> and 250,000 secondary school teachers every year by this method. These trained Indian teachers can themselves become trainers over a period of 5 years. "We should pay about $100,000 a year," he said, while also stressing the need for providing better facilities and pay to teachers. Further, Murthy said India is still in stage 1 "in some important areas like design of livable cities, pollution management, traffic management,and providing clean and safe water". India must aspire for stage 4 in innovation and invention, where it becomes an inventor of new processes, products, and services, he noted. Awarding the Infosys Prize 2023 to six individuals for their remarkable contributions to scientific research in India, he said, "Learnability, creativity and innovation are the ways to navigate our fast-changing world. We must be daringly inventive to tackle the daunting and persistent problems of today". The awards were in six categories -- Engineering and Computer Science, Humanities, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The prize for each category comprises a gold medal, a citation, and a prize purse of $100,000 (or its equivalent in INR).

Some medical experts also said that a 70-hour-week regimen would be "far too ambitious," and urged team leaders at workplaces to divide work in an optimised manner among members and "not try to extract too much work from an individual", which often leads to physical or psychological burnout. Their comments come in the wake of Infosys co-founder <keyword id="6448574" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="n-r-narayana-murthy" source="Orion">N R Narayana Murthy</keyword> recently suggesting that young people should work <keyword id="19286531" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="70-hours-a-week" source="Orion">70 hours a week</keyword> to boost the country's productivity. Murthy's remarks were criticised on social media for allegedly promoting an 'overwork culture' by some, and praised by several others. Doctors in Delhi warned that overwork was leading to early onset of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and cervical spondylitis. Smoking, drinking and consumption of junk food at work or home are also adversely affecting their health, and compounding their health issues, they said. Dr Suranjit Chatterjee, senior consultant, internal medicine at Apollo Hospital in Delhi said, "Hard work doesn't mean you neglect or compromise your health. Hard work is fine, but a person should take care of one's health too while following their ambition. "So, it has to be balanced with a healthy diet, healthy lifestyle, proper sleep and timely exercise," he told PTI. The 70-hour-week regimen would be "far too ambitious, I feel, and 60 hours per week with a balanced and optimised lifestyle" should be the way forward, the doctor said. "Many people work hard and then resort to eating junk food or smoking at regular intervals, of course, having this myth that it is helping them de-stress, but it's not, it's only making their health even worse," Chatterjee said. Some resort to regular drinking and frequent parties, driven at times by the idea that 'I can afford it, so I will do it'. This attitude has to change if a person has to grow professionally without compromising one's health, he cautioned. Doctors at other government and private hospitals also warned about the consumption of junk food, at times for "snob value" at the workplace, which in turn leads to a "wrong ripple effect". Recreation is important, but it should be done after putting in hard work on working days, for both personal and professional growth in any organisation, the medical experts underlined. A senior doctor at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said the OPD of internal medicine there is seeing a "paradigm shift" in the nature of patients visiting it. "We are seeing now more younger people than the elderly population who are coming to us with early onset of lifestyle diseases like diabetes. They are glued to their computer screens or mobile phones all the time, so they complain of pain in the eyes, neck pain, backache and many other issues," the doctor said. Consumption of junk food, lack of proper sleep, negligible or no exercise, coupled with the sedentary lifestyle at work, is making matters worse, he added. The senior doctor advised youths to balance ambition with a healthy diet and lifestyle, and not give in to any pressure from peers or otherwise. There have been many cases of physical or mental burnout and overwork is a major cause for that, he added. Ambition is good for work, good for the country, and a person can work for even 10 hours or so per day "while ensuring health is not compromised," Chatterjee said. In a conversation with former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai in the inaugural episode of 3one4 Capital's podcast 'The Record,' Murthy had said that youngsters should put extra hours at work to compete with leading economies. "India's work productivity is one of the lowest in the world. Unless we improve our work productivity...we will not be able to compete with those countries that have made tremendous progress," he said, comparing India with China, Japan and Germany. "So, therefore, I request that our youngsters must say, 'This is my country. I'd like to work 70 hours a week," he added. Murthy's remarks have drawn mixed reactions on social media. London, Oct 25 (IANS) <keyword id="221875" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rishi-sunak" source="Orion">Rishi Sunak</keyword>, who will on Tuesday become the UKs 57th Prime Minister, is richer than King Charles III and, at 42, younger than every predecessor except William Pitt the Younger, the media reported. Sunak will also be the UK's first ever person of colour to lead the country, and first Hindu Prime Minister, The Guardian reported. He was born in Southampton in 1980 to Indian parents who had moved to the UK from east Africa. His father was a general practioner and his mother ran her own pharmacy. The eldest of three children, Sunak was educated at a private boarding school, Winchester College, which costs 43,335 pounds a year to attend. He was head boy, and has in recent years made multiple donations to the school. Sunak went on to study politics, philosophy and economics at the University of Oxford. He was awarded a first-class degree. He later gained an MBA at Stanford University, where he met Akshata Murty, his future wife, but where few others remember him, The Guardian reported. Murty, 42, is the daughter of the Indian billionaire NR Narayana Murthy, often described as the Bill Gates of India, who founded the software company Infosys. According to reports, his daughter has a 0.91 per cent stake in the company, worth about 700 million pounds. The couple married in her home town of Bengaluru in a two-day ceremony in 2009 attended by 1,000 guests. They have two daughters, Krishna and Anoushka. In April this year, it emerged that Murty was a non-domiciled UK resident, meaning she avoided UK taxes on her international earnings in return for paying an annual charge of 30,000 pounds. Without that non-dom status she could have been liable for more than 20 million pounds of UK taxes on these windfalls, it was reported. After a public outcry, her spokesperson announced she would start paying UK taxes on her overseas earnings to relieve political pressure on her husband, The Guardian reported.
