As a part of the agreement, Tata Motors will deliver 10,000 XPRES T EVs to this Deepika Padukone-backed all-electric cab service company. BluSmart Electric Mobility had previously ordered 3,500 XPRESS T EV in October last year and the current order is an addition to this. The vehicle — which was launched last July exclusively for fleet customers — would be used across the country for commuters. It packs a high energy density battery of 21.5 kilowatt-hour (kWh) and 16.5 kWh and can be charged from 0- 80% in 90 mins and 110 mins, respectively. “Our XPRES-T EV fleet offers an optimal battery size along with a captive fast charging solution and has already set benchmarks in its category. Tata Motors is constantly working towards educating and enhancing the adoption of electric mobility in India and we hope that more people join us in this journey as we mobilize the nation,” Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. Tata Motors — which manufactures TATA Nexon EV and Tata Tigor EV — claims to be leading the e-mobility wave in India with a commanding market share of 87%. It sold 25,000 EVs in the fiscal year 2022. BluSmart Electric Mobility was founded in 2019 by Anmol Jaggi, Puneet Singh Jaggi and Punit Goyal. The company has raised $67 million to date from marquee investors Alteria Capital, Stride Ventures and BlackSoil as investors. The three-year-old startup aised <a href="https://auto.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/aftermarket/blusmart-raises-usd-50-million-in-extended-series-a-round-to-rapidly-scale-its-e-fleet/91758760">$50 million </a>last month to expand across Delhi NCR and other metro cities. The company claims to have covered 50 million clean kilometers and delivered over 1.6 million zero-emission rides. “We are building a large-scale integrated EV mobility ecosystem in India - from the country's largest fully-electric ride hailing service to the largest network of EV charging super hubs. With the increasing fleet size we are leading India on the path to reliable, sustainable and zero-emissions mobility and also creating more inclusive and economic opportunities for driver partners,” said Anmol Singh Jaggi, co-founder at BluSmart Electric Mobility. Tata Motors bags India’s biggest EV fleet order from cab company BluSmart

<ul class="summary-list"><li>A train on the Washington, DC, <keyword id="6356415" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="metro" source="Orion">Metro</keyword>'s Blue Line derailed last week, causing passengers to exit through a tunnel. </li><li>The train derailed at least two other times in the dame day, NTSB investigators said Monday. </li></ul>The train on the Washington, DC, Metro system's Blue Line that derailed with passengers aboard last week had derailed at least two other times earlier in the day, investigators with the National <keyword id="11894924" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="transportation" source="Orion">Transportation</keyword> Safety Board said Monday. The NTSB said at a <keyword id="11893589" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="news" source="Orion">news</keyword> conference Monday investigators determined that derailment of the 7000-series train was the result of its wheels shifting too far apart on their axles. A preliminary investigation said similar wheel problems existed on certain Metro trains since 2017, the agency said at a news conference Monday, according to <a href="https://dcist.com/story/21/10/18/wmata-metro-7000-series-safety-derailment-catastrophic-delays/">DCist</a>."We are fortunate that no fatalities or serious injuries occurred as a result of any of these derailments, but the potential for fatalities and serious injuries, was significant," said NTSB Chair Jennifer Homeny at the agency's DC headquarters."This could have resulted in a catastrophic event," she added.Metro had previously reported 31 wheel assembly failures on the 7000-series trains since 2017, the NTSB said Monday, per DCist. Following the derailment, another 21 cars that were inspected were found to have the same issue. Prior to the conference Monday, investigators had inspected 514 of the 748 7000-series cars and said they could find additional trains with the issue, the report said.According to NTSB investigators, the same train had at least two other derailments and re-ailments the same day prior to the derailment outside the Arlington Cemetery station on the Blue Line. Investigators found pieces of the train's brake discs at its Largo and Rosslyn stations. The pieces broke from the train during the previous derailments, investigators believe. The first two derailments occurred around 3:20 and 4:15 p.m. on October 12, investigators said Monday. The third final derailment occurred just around 5 p.m. at the Arlington Cemetery station. A total of 187 people aboard the train had to walk through a dark tunnel about the length of six football fields to get to safety, <a href="https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/transportation/potentially-catastrophic-metro-issue-linked-to-derailment-found-in-2017-ntsb/2836752/">NBC Washington</a> reported. Investigators said that the third rail, which is electrified and brings power to the trains, was damaged during the derailment and could've led to a fire.No one was seriously injured in the derailment, although one person went to the hospital, according to NBC Washington.The Washington Metrorail Safety Commission late Sunday announced it directed <keyword id="12338440" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="wmata" source="Orion">WMATA</keyword>, the agency that runs Metro, to pull all of its 7000-series rail cars, which are manufactured by Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc and are the newest in Metro's fleet. They first began operating on the system in 2015, replacing aging trains on the city's decades-old <keyword id="11984418" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="subway" source="Orion">subway</keyword> system. The move has temporarily eliminated 60% of Metro's fleet, <a href="https://twitter.com/wmata/status/1449887813143511045">leading to delays on the system Monday with trains scheduled to run on all lines just every 30 minutes</a>. Some Metro customers took to social media during their commute Monday morning to <a href="https://twitter.com/Nasura_/status/1450067936811655173">complain of jam-packed stations trains</a> and their <a href="https://twitter.com/lukelukertwtop/status/1450033762868289539">delayed arrival</a>. According to DCist, some trains took as long as an hour to arrive Monday."We want the public to know we are committed to their safety and will continue to release updates as we receive them," WMATA <a href="https://twitter.com/wmata/status/1450092154622251015">said in a statement on Twitter</a>.

DC Metro train derailed 3 times on the same day before passengers were forced to evacuate through a dark tunnel, investigators say

Just before Delhi’s <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=odd-even+policy&amp;sortorder=effectivedate" data-type="tilCustomLink">odd-even policy</a> stages a comeback, the nation’s capital has got its first ever eco-friendly electric two-wheeler taxi service. 
 Looking to solve the problem of last mile connectivity, <keyword id="3309408" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Promto">Promto</keyword> has started its service last week and is doing close to 200 rides every day. That’s not too much given the volume of traffic in the city, but it’s a good start nonetheless. 
 
The Delhi based company was started by Nikhil Malik, Karan Chadha, Pawneesh Rampal and Romesh Kumar who came up with the idea of having a battery operated two-wheeler taxi service network. The battery operated bikes are equipped with in-built <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=GPS+systems&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">GPS systems</a>. 
 
The company currently has 20 such scooters, and the service is available from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Connaught+Place&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Connaught Place</a> (<keyword id="6356415" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Metro">Metro</keyword> station gate no. 7) to offer rides within a radius of 5 kms. While reach is an issue currently, affordability isn’t, as the two wheeler service is available for a mere Rs 5/kms. 
 
The taxi can be booked by calling on 82528-82528 or by hailing one from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Connaught+Place&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Connaught Place</a> metro station, gate number 7. 
 
Nikhil Malik, Promoter of Promto said, “Promto will help single office goers, students and general commuters experience the advantages of switching over to zero polluting electric mobility and reach last mile destinations from a public point such as metro stations or a busy bus terminal.” 
 
“Our battery operated bikes will be a visible alternative to immediately cut the emission as one electric bike is equivalent to reducing 1 ton of carbon dioxide emission in 3 years,” added Nikhil. 
 
Much like the Olas and Ubers of the transportation industry, Promto has a comprehensive insurance policy worth up to Rs 1 lakh for the drivers as well as the passenger for the duration of the bike ride. The company also claims all drivers go through stringent background verification and training before they’re put on the road. 
 
The company looks to expand its fleet to 500 battery-operated bikes in the next 6 months and over 10,000 electric bikes in the coming 3 years.

Delhi gets its first Bike taxi service before Odd-Even makesa comeback

72 people were injured when one train derailed and crashed into another, outside Bridgeport.
As of Sunday, nine were still hospitalized, and one was in critical condition, <a href="http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Metro-North-Service-Crash-Train-Derailment-MTA-NYC-208103631.html" target="_blank">according to NBC New York</a>.
Repairs of the tracks began Saturday night, once the National <keyword id="34991" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="transportation">Transportation</keyword> Safety Board (NTSB), which is investigating the accident, authorized the removal of the train cars.
As of noon Sunday, the MTA had used cranes to remove seven cars and re-railed nine others. Most of the damaged overhead wires were removed, and the MTA expected to have them replaced by Sunday evening.
Workers will lay 2,000 feet of all new track in about two days. Then new wiring and components will be installed, inspected, and tested, before full service can resume. That won't happen until "well into the work week," <a href="http://new.mta.info/new-haven-line-service-changes-are-place-while-we-work-around-clock-rebuild-damaged-tracks" target="_blank">the MTA said</a>.
In the meantime, the MTA has organized a fleet of 120 shuttle buses for affected riders, and warns all customers to be prepared for "significantly longer than normal" travel times, and "significantly crowded" <keyword id="6360847" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Trains">trains</keyword>.
One commuter told Business Insider service was relatively normal this morning. A train scheduled to arrive at Grand Central Terminal at 8:14 was 10 minutes late, and an 8:30 train was on time and not more crowded than usual.

Commutes Into NYC Will Be Delayed All Week After Friday's Train Crash

This follows the merger of AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India) with Air India Express on October 1, marking a major step in Tata’s broader consolidation of its airline operations. Currently operating a fleet of 90 aircraft, including Boeing 737s and A320s, Air India Express has plans to expand its reach, particularly to smaller cities and towns. The airline aims to simplify its fleet by eliminating <keyword id="21350335" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="business-class" source="keywords">business class</keyword> seats, opting instead for a uniform economy layout across its narrow-body planes. The decision comes as the airline faces supply chain challenges that have delayed the delivery of new aircraft. To bridge the gap, it has already inducted 35 white-tail Boeing 737-8 planes, with plans to add 15 more in the coming months. White-tail aircraft are planes originally manufactured for other carriers and later repurposed by Air India Express. These planes, often with varying business class configurations, will be reconfigured to fit the airline’s new model. The PTI report adds that by eliminating business class, the airline aims to better serve its core market—connecting <keyword id="20567886" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tier-2-and-Tier-3-cities" source="keywords">Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities</keyword> with major metropolitan hubs, while expanding its international network. In addition to strengthening its domestic routes, Air India Express plans to focus on regional international flights, particularly to destinations in the Gulf, Southeast Asia, and eventually South Asia. Air India Express’ network strategy is closely aligned with that of the larger Tata Group’s airline portfolio, which includes Air India, Vistara, and the recently merged AIX Connect. As part of this consolidation, Air India Express aims to meet growing demand for affordable travel between smaller towns and metros, a market segment identified as a key growth area. The move towards an economy-only fleet reflects broader industry trends, with many <keyword id="20314404" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="low-cost-carriers" source="keywords">low-cost carriers</keyword> focusing on streamlining operations to reduce costs and improve efficiency. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Choosing my kids' names was a difficult decision. </li><li>I wanted them to have middle names that would help them discover themselves and feel grounding. </li></ul>I gave birth to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/young-parent-having-child-early-2023-8">my first child</a> — a daughter — in New York City in April of 2020, just after the start of the pandemic. Yes, the experience was terrifying, but almost as terrifying was deciding on her name.I was fairly confident with the choice of her first name. But when it came to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/kids-maiden-name-middle-names-family-legacy-2024-3">choosing a middle name</a> for my first daughter (and later, for my second), I wanted to give myself time to think and to dream about my offspring's identity and legacy. Middle names are often viewed as the name of lesser importance, but I wanted my choices to be a gateway for both discovering and for remembering their center, or rather, the core of their being.I wanted to choose something that reflected my love of mother nature and could also serve as a guidepost for my child. I also didn't want my daughter to feel that she had to live up to someone else's life or influence by <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/kids-names-relatives-legacy-tradition-2024-4">naming her after another person</a>. And I loved the idea of her having a physical place that she could go to and revisit throughout her life — even with her own children and grandchildren, someday — that she'd feel she had a personal stake in.<h2 id="33208547-67f3-4c5e-a914-ee3576528b8e">I thought about all the places I'd been</h2>As I contemplated a middle name, I thought about the many beautiful places I had visited in my life, and narrowed it down to one special region of the United States: the Appalachian mountains. And then, I remembered this breathtaking hike that I had taken once in college at the Roan Mountain Balds in Tennessee.The hike is a part of the Appalachian Trail and boasts awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In June, the rhododendron blooms attract folks from all over the country. The "roan," or reddish color of the mountaintops during this time of year, has been what many claim to be the origin of the mountain's namesake. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited."Roan" was the perfect choice for my first child — Roan Mountain held such a special place in my heart, and I knew that one day, it would hold a special place in her heart, too.<h2 id="a6c31765-c484-4778-8d3a-a206c67b410b">When I got pregnant again, the process started over</h2>I had my second child just 21 months after my first, and again, while I was pregnant, we found ourselves in the tedious process of choosing yet another first and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/called-son-using-common-middle-name-prevent-teasing-2024-2">middle name</a>. By this time, our family had relocated from New York City to Asheville, North Carolina.We'd traded our 500-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment in Queens for an old home that was double the size of our previous, surrounded by all shades of natural green. I don't take for granted the fact that I can step right outside onto the front porch and inhale crisp mountain air; even three years later, it still hasn't gotten old.However, despite our decision being the right one for our family, my husband and I started to find ourselves <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/new-mom-misses-child-free-life-adjusting-to-motherhood-guilt-2024-1">grieving our pre-kid, city life.</a> We missed weekends spent leisurely walking in parks throughout the metropolis, sipping fancy coffees, and finishing the night eating out and drinking at restaurants that served up cuisines and cocktails from all over the world.We had spent six years posing as city slickers, but whenever we needed a break, we pressed pause and retreated up the Metro-North. Just an hour or so on the train and we were in a whole different world, hiking and recharging. Without a doubt, the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hudson-valley-new-york-upstate-getaway-day-trip-ideas">Hudson River Valley</a> quickly became one of our homes-away-from-home — another special place in our book of life.And so, as the clock ticked during the third trimester of my second pregnancy and the panic of choosing a first and middle name commenced, my husband offered the possibility of "Hudson" as our second child's middle name, and without any hesitation, I agreed. It was perfect, and when we were surprised with a second daughter, it fit her well.I hope that my girls will delight in, not only the sounds of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/my-kids-have-uncommon-names-they-like-them-2024-3">their names</a>, but the pieces of their mother and father that reside within them — that make up who they are as people on this wondrous earth. By selecting these names, our hope is that our children will visit and re-visit these places and fondly remember the memories and stories told by us, their parents.We also hope to bestow our love of nature as well as the lesson that it is constantly teaching us: that it is constant, and life is variable. We want them to appreciate the beauty and joy that life offers even in its most fleeting moments. A sure-fire way we can do that is by immersing ourselves in nature.If our children do so, in return, they will be afforded a fuller life — one that is not perfect but is worth living, and that, I believe, is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our kids.

<keyword id="19900881" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi" source="keywords">Delhi</keyword>'s finance minister Atishi presented the FY25 budget in the state assembly on Monday with an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore, announcing the 'Mukhyamamantri Mahila <keyword id="20820458" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="samman-yojana" source="keywords">Samman Yojana</keyword>' under which women aged 18 and above will get Rs 1,000 per month, and asserted the government is inspired by the ideals of <keyword id="20017410" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ram-rajya" source="keywords">Ram Rajya</keyword>. In the budget tabled in the state assembly ahead of the general elections, she also announced that the Business Blasters scheme, which was till now being implemented in schools, will now be implemented in universities and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). Last year, the government had allocated Rs 78,800 crore for the financial year 2023-24 and announced nine schemes as part of the G20 preparations. The Delhi government's budget size for 2022-23 was Rs 75,800 crore and Rs 69,000 crore in the preceding year. This was the first time that Atishi presented the budget after taking charge of the finance department last year. In her budget speech, she remembered Manish Sisodia, former education minister, and <keyword id="20115511" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="satyendar-jain" source="keywords">Satyendar Jain</keyword>, former health minister, for their roles in shaping the education and health models in the national capital. "This is a moment of pride that the Kejriwal government is presenting its tenth budget today. I am not just presenting the tenth budget but a picture of changing Delhi. Kejriwal came as a ray of hope. We are all inspired by Ram Rajya. We are working hard towards realising the dream of Ram Rajya," she said. She proposed an allocation of Rs 16,396 crore for the education sector and highlighted the achievements of the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) government in the field. Under the education budget, Rs 100 crore has been allocated to the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for training teachers, and another Rs 150 crore has been proposed for the construction of new schools and classrooms. She proposed Rs 45 crore for the maintenance of existing classrooms and Rs 42 crore for Schools of Specialised Excellence in the 2024-25 fiscal. The minister announced an allocation of Rs 118 crore for sports education, Rs 1,212 crore for higher education and technical education and Rs 15 crore for "Business Blasters Senior". "The Kejriwal government will implement Business Blaster scheme in its universities and Industrial Training Institutes through Rs 15 crore allocation in budget," she added. The government announced a budget of Rs 8,685 crore for the health sector with Rs 6,215 crore being proposed for hospitals to maintain good facilities. "Under the Delhi government, there are 38 hospitals where treatment is provided free of cost to more than 81,000 OPD patients daily and 65,806 IPD patients monthly," she said. OPD stands for out-patient department, while in-patients department is referred as IPD. There are 530 Mohalla Clinics in Delhi currently, where every day, 64,000 people receive free medicines, tests, and treatment. So far, Mohalla Clinics have conducted more than seven crore OPD visits, she said. 'Farishtey Dilli Ke' scheme has saved the lives of 22,000 people, she shared. The minister announced a budget outlay of Rs 6,216 crore for various schemes under the Social Welfare Department, Women and Child Development Department and SC/ST/OBC Welfare Department. The government announced an allocation of Rs 2,000 crore for the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman <keyword id="19955331" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="yojana" source="keywords">Yojana</keyword>' for the welfare and empowerment of women from 2024-25. Under this scheme, woman above 18 years of age will get Rs 1,000 per month, she said. For a woman to become eligible under the scheme, she should be a Delhi voter, should not be availing benefits under any other government scheme and should not be an income taxpayer, she said. According to the final electoral roll of Delhi published in January this year, there are 67,30,371 female voters in the national capital. Atishi announced an allocation of Rs 664 crore for all nutrition-related schemes. In 2014-15, the budget for law and justice was Rs 760 crore, she said. "I am delighted to share that by 2024-25, it has increased by nearly four-fold to reach Rs 3,098 crore," she said. The minister announced that in 2024-25, the Delhi government will begin the construction of four court complexes in Rohini, Karkardooma, Shastri Park, and Rouse Avenue. "These will include courtrooms, lawyer chambers, libraries, and modern facilities, totalling 250 new courtrooms. The number of people receiving free legal services through the Delhi State Legal Services Authority was 33,000 in 2016. Last year, this figure increased nearly four-fold, reaching 1.25 lakh," she shared. The finance minister announced an allocation of Rs 902 crore for unauthorised colonies. Talking about the transport sector, she said that Delhi will have over 10,000 buses in its fleet, including 80 per cent electric buses. She announced Rs 7,195 crore for the Delhi Jal Board, Rs 510 crore for induction of electric buses in DTC and cluster buses fleet and Rs 500 crore for Delhi Metro. Delhi govt presents FY25 budget with ₹76,000 crore outlay; to give ₹1,000 per month to every woman

<keyword id="2467342" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="vistara" source="Orion">Vistara</keyword>, a joint venture of <keyword id="46894" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-sons" source="Orion">Tata Sons</keyword> and <keyword id="6368386" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="singapore-airlines" source="Orion">Singapore Airlines</keyword>, has reported a net profit (excluding unrealised foreign currency loss and non-operating income) for the quarter that ended December 2022. The airline crossed the $1 billion revenue mark and remained EBITDA positive in the current fiscal year and reported break-even for the first time in the quarter. Vistara on Monday said that it delivered remarkable results for the first time since its inception in 2013. The airline achieved its highest-ever domestic market share of 10.4 per cent in July 2022 and maintained its position as the second largest domestic airline in India since then, flying more than 11 million passengers in the calendar year 2022. Vistara also registered an 11 per cent year-on-year growth in the member base for its frequent flyer program, Club Vistara. Vistara grew its international network by over 180 per cent in 2022, by adding seven additional routes including three new destinations (Jeddah, Abu Dhabi and Muscat). It also grew its domestic network by over 50 per cent, by adding six new routes including two new destinations (<keyword id="6361828" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="coimbatore" source="Orion">Coimbatore</keyword> and Jaipur). For the quarter that ended December 2022, the airline grew its capacity by 37 per cent and passengers by 47 per cent compared to the same period last year. The airline recorded the second-highest on-time performance at four key metros and over 85 per cent domestic load factor for most of the year in 2022. This year, Vistara became the only Indian airline to be featured in Skytrax's list of the World's Top 20 airlines. The airline currently has over 5,000 employees and operates close to 8,500 flights per month. <keyword id="7656482" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vinod-kannan" source="Orion">Vinod Kannan</keyword>, Chief Executive Officer of Vistara, said: "With significant network and fleet expansion and sustained growth over the last few months, 2022 has been a phenomenal year for Vistara in terms of our operational and financial performance. With the delivery of 10 aircraft and the re-delivery of eight aircraft, the airline expanded its fleet size to 53 in 2022, said the airline.
