<ul class="summary-list"><li>The first viral <keyword id="15641" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Miami">Miami</keyword> moment happened in December when Mayor Francis Suarez tweeted "How can I help?"</li><li>Since then, top Silicon Valley investors and tech founders have moved to South Florida.</li><li>But some of the old guard of Miami tech are not so happy with the recent arrivals.</li></ul><p>On December 4, 2020, during the darkest days of the pandemic, Silicon Valley discovered Miami.</p><p>That's when Silicon Valley VC Delian Asparouhov tweeted, only partially in jest, "ok guys hear me out, what if we move silicon valley to miami?" and Mayor Francis Suarez tweeted in answer "How can I help?"</p><p>Their tweets went viral and since then tech founders and VCs including Asparouhov, an investor at <keyword id="1156489" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Founders-Fund">Founders Fund</keyword>, have flocked to South Florida, bringing their skills, network, and wealth along with them.</p><p><keyword id="123907" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="atomic">Atomic</keyword>'s <keyword id="1766522" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jack-Abraham">Jack Abraham</keyword> was one of the first to arrive, months before the "How can I help?" tweet. He extended a seven-day vacation with friends into a month and a half last June, staying in various Airbnbs in different neighborhoods to get a sense of the city. Then, the inevitable happened: he moved there. Miami's tech scene is having a moment as Silicon Valley power players descend on the city. But not everyone loves the changes they bring.

As the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-impeachment-trial-day-1-live-updates-watch-2021-2">Senate began its impeachment trial</a>, Twitter's management tried to ease investors into the company's life without Trump.</p><p>Unlike the Senate, which is deciding whether to ban Trump from political office, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/twitter-suspended-president-donald-trumps-account-permanently-2021-1">Twitter has already booted him</a> from its realm. It's the consequence of this action with which Twitter must now contend.</p><ul><li><strong>Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey</strong> assured investors <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/twitter-earnings-q4-revenue-eps-new-users-2021-2">during the company's quarterly earnings call Tuesday</a> that the company is "obviously much larger than any one topic or any one account."</li><li><strong>But the loss of Trump</strong> is also, obviously, much more significant than subtracting a single "monetizable daily active user" (to use Twitter's preferred term) from <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/twitter-earnings-q4-revenue-eps-new-users-2021-2">the company's latest tally of 192 million.</a></li><li><strong>How many of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/top-conservatives-moving-to-parler-after-trumps-ban-from-twitter-2021-1">Trump's followers have quit Twitter</a> </strong>in solidarity? How much less engaged will Twitter's users be without the daily dose of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-threatens-shut-down-platforms-after-tweets-tagged-warning-2020-5">provocative tweets</a> from the platform's most <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-incites-harassment-twitter-employee-over-fact-checking-2020-5">obstreperous user</a>? And how do you even measure the loss of exposure that Twitter will suffer by not having every newspaper and TV news program cite it when reporting on Trump's latest comments?</li></ul><p>I don't think I heard the name Trump cross anyone's lips during the entire conference call, but there was a lot of talk about the impact of certain "account closures" and recent "unusual circumstances." Twitter pointed out that the absolute number of new users in January (<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-silicon-valley-banished-donald-trump-in-48-hours-2021-1?r=kc-sub">the month Trump was banned</a>) was above the historical average of the last four years. The user growth rate for the current quarter however is expected to be 20%, which is below the 24% rate at which its audience grew at the same time last year.</p><p>The company is not "dependent on just news and politics being what drives Twitter," Dorsey said.</p><p>"What we are excited about, especially in the future," he continued, "is helping everyone unlock more of the long-tail topics and interests."</p><p>What seemed clear is that post-Trump Twitter marks a new era in the evolution of the social network's business. From almost its inception more than 13 years ago, Twitter has pitched itself as a personality-driven social network. Facebook is where you connect with people you know, Twitter is where you "follow" people you may or may not know. </p><p>As Twitter said in its <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1418091/000119312513424260/d564001ds1a.htm">IPO prospectus</a> in 2013, the company's business is partly dependent on being the platform of choice for "influential users, such as world leaders, government officials, celebrities, athletes" and other muckety-mucks.</p><ul><li>Ditching Trump doesn't mean Twitter no longer values having blue-check rainmakers like Barack Obama (129 million followers), Justin Bieber (113 million followers), and Katy Perry (109 million followers).</li><li>But it's also probably not a coincidence that the company is now exploring alternative revenue models, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-08/twitter-considers-subscription-fee-for-tweetdeck-unique-content">as Bloomberg recently reported,</a> including premium features like an<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/twitter-explores-tipping-subscription-features-un-send-tweet-button-report-2021-2">"un-send" button</a> and a subscription-based ad-free offering.</li></ul><p><strong>Postscript:</strong> I decided to check how much of a "Trump Bump" Twitter's stock has enjoyed over the past five years or so. Turns out, it's nothing to write home about. Jack Dorsey eases Twitter into life after Trump

New Delhi, Apr 1 () Honda Siel Power Products on Wednesday said its two promoters -- Japan's Honda Motor Co and India's Usha International -- have terminated their over two-decades old joint venture.<p> Subsequently, Siddharth Shriram has also resigned as an independent director and chairperson of Honda Siel Power Products with Takahiro Ueda being proposed to be appointed in his place.</p><p> The joint venture agreement dated October 25, 1997, entered between Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Japan, and Usha International Limited to create and operate Honda Siel Power Products Ltd (HSSP) as a joint venture has been terminated pursuant to a termination agreement executed on March 31, 2020, HSSP said in a regulatory filing.</p><p> The company said its board of directors at a meeting held on Wednesday "deliberated" termination of JV agreement although it is not a party to the agreement.</p><p> The board also deliberated on approving re-classification request of Usha International Ltd from 'Promoter and Promoter Group' category to 'Public' category.</p><p> As on quarter ended December 31, 2019, Honda Motor Co held 66.67 per cent in HSSP with the Indian partner Usha International Ltd having 1 per cent stake.</p><p> HSSP further said its board also said the agreement between Honda and Usha International permitting the usage of the name 'Siel' as part of the name of Honda Siel Power Products Ltd stands terminated.</p><p> HSSP is a leading player in power products industry, manufacturing and marketing a range of portable generators, water pumps, tillers and general purpose engine. It also markets lawn mower, brush cutter and long-tailed outboard motors. It has a manufacturing facility at Greater Noida.</p><p> This is the second joint venture between the two parties which has been terminated.</p> In August 2012, Usha International exited from its then joint venture -- Honda Siels Cars India -- with Honda Motor Company by selling its entire 3.16 per cent stake to the Japanese partner for Rs 180 crore. Honda, Usha International terminate power products joint venture

<p><em>This article is part of "</em><a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/build-it-series"><em>Build IT</em></a><em>," a series about digital-tech trends disrupting industries.</em></p><p class="drop-cap">Generative AI is on the tip of everyone's tongue this year, and marketers are eager to embrace it. In a survey from Salesforce, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.salesforce.com/news/stories/generative-ai-for-marketing-research/">51% of marketers said they were using generative AI</a>, with another 22% saying they planned to do so. The benefits could be significant: McKinsey has projected that generative AI could <a target="_blank" href="https://www.mckinsey.com/capabilities/growth-marketing-and-sales/our-insights/how-generative-ai-can-boost-consumer-marketing#">increase marketers' productivity</a> by 5% to 15%, adding up to $463 billion in value annually.</p><p>The financial upside of adopting generative AI in marketing and sales is pushing companies to rapidly adopt it. Understanding how AI works and how to deploy it is now a focus of many marketers.</p><p>The focus is driven by a desire to deliver more-personalized messages that encourage consumers to buy. Self-preservation is a motive, too: Developing AI proficiency could help bolster job security, as some marketers worry the technology might replace them if their expertise doesn't evolve.</p><p>"For those who are jumping on the bandwagon and really understanding it works, it gives them a competitive advantage," Tom Krutilek, the chief marketing officer at the fintech marketplace InvestHub, told Business Insider.</p><h2>AI can enable personalization at scale</h2><p>InvestHub, founded in 2021, aims to help startups raise capital by matching them with investors. While the goal is as old as markets themselves, InvestHub is taking a novel approach: It's constructing an AI-powered platform designed to use data about startups, such as the industry a company is in and the size of the investment it needs, to connect them with befitting investors. It works in reverse, too, helping investors find startups that align with their interests. "Personalization is important to us," Krutilek said.</p><p>Krutilek also uses AI internally to conduct market research that could help the company attract clients — and tweak its marketing for different audiences. "We have to ask, how do we speak to the CTO or the person in charge of revenue operations?" he said. "That's different from how we speak to a venture capitalist."</p><p>This isn't to say InvestHub uses AI to generate marketing copy and ships it as is. Krutilek described AI as a "starting point for our team." It can suggest an effective marketing message, but his team still needs to "add the human touch" by determining whether the AI's suggestions are suitable and making the call on which marketing strategy to pursue.</p>          <p>Marketers can also use AI's efficiency to deploy personalized messages at scale. Bob Hutchins, the founder of the AI marketing consultant Human Voice Media, said long-tail marketing content, like product description pages, or PDPs, was ripe for disruption.</p><p>PDPs are a critical component of modern e-commerce marketing strategies. If you search for a product on Google or Bing and then click on a link, or if you click on a product recommendation on Instagram or TikTok, the page you'll land on is most likely a PDP.</p><p>Ideally, PDPs should be personalized; a recently retired 65-year-old in Arkansas is likely to have different priorities than a 20-something student in Spain, and a product page should reflect that. But in practice, this type of personalization is unwieldy, since it involves creating numerous iterations of one product page. Many e-commerce sites find that task beyond what even a well-staffed marketing team can handle, but AI could change the equation.</p><p>"If I want to add 5,000 products next quarter, who is going to write that? Who is going to make sure it follows brand guidelines?" Hutchins said. "If AI can reduce what would take three or four months down to a few days, then all of a sudden that changes the economics of my business."</p><p>As marketers become more experienced in using AI, Hutchins said, more companies will be able to tap into real-time analytics and personalization that present customers with buying suggestions based on their shopping history with the company.</p><h2>Authenticity with AI means using it in the right place at the right time</h2><p>AI's promise of efficiency is clear, but marketers often find their attempts to deliver personalized messages stymied by the industry's <a target="_blank" href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesbusinesscouncil/2023/01/09/authenticity-in-marketing-why-brands-must-lead-with-why/">most prolific buzzword: authenticity</a>. While marketers dream of AI-driven personalization, consumers say they like brands that feel more human.</p><p>Uber Eats found itself on the wrong side of this problem in December. A person on X found that the Uber Eats page of one pizza restaurant in New York, where pizzas are often called pies, had appeared to replace blank menu images, which can sink sales, with AI-generated images of thick, bready pastries filled with odd meats.</p><p>But Greg Kihlström, the owner of the marketing consultancy The Agile Brand and an instructor at the Association of National Advertisers' School of Marketing, is skeptical that authenticity will prove a barrier for long. "Consumers are pretty pragmatic about a lot of things," he said.</p>          <p>Kihlström and Hutchins argued that if brands ensure their AI's results are accurate and follow the brand's marketing guidelines, consumers are unlikely to object to the AI or, in many cases, even notice when it's used.</p><p>Research seems to support this belief. A <a target="_blank" href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2772766123000289?dgcid=author">study published in December</a> found that even trained linguists had difficulty distinguishing text generated by AI from text written by a human. Other studies have found that, in many situations, <a target="_blank" href="https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-031-50072-5_34">people can't tell AI-generated images from real photos</a>.</p><p>While Kihlström advised marketers to remain mindful of AI's nuances and limitations, he said that "if it serves a practical need, I don't think most consumers, in a year or two, are going to care." But he added that there were still "many years to go" before AI could create something like a sentimental Super Bowl ad.</p><h2>Will AI replace marketing jobs?</h2><p>While some marketers wonder how consumers will react to AI, many fret about something closer to home: their jobs.</p><p>Kihlström said industry professionals were worried that AI might reduce or eliminate the need for certain roles — fears that go hand in hand with the technology's promise of efficiency.</p><p>"The senior-level marketers are less concerned about losing their jobs, but they are worried about getting headcounts cut," he said. "Because their bosses are saying, 'If 30% of anybody's job can be replaced by AI, let's cut 30% of the workforce.'"</p><p>Marketers with creative tasks might be the first to feel this pain. "The lowest-hanging fruit is obviously content creation," Hutchins said. He recommended companies looking to get started with AI in marketing take a hard look at repetitive creative tasks, like writing and editing ad copy, that generative AI could handle.</p><p>Opinions vary, however, and Krutilek was optimistic about marketing's future. "I don't think it's going to change the number of jobs," he said of AI, though he added that he thinks marketers with AI experience will have an indispensable, advantageous skill set.</p><p>Krutilek said AI had radically changed how he incorporated market research into positioning InvestHub against its competitors. He said he could now knock out in a few hours a competitive analysis that once required a solid week of research.</p><p>It's not just analysts who benefit. He said AI tools let creative-team staffers more quickly imagine and iterate on assets like graphics for a marketing campaign. The time saved could be used to consider a greater number of creative assets or to scrutinize a creative strategy.</p><p>"Before AI, it was like, 'How can I minimize? Palihapitiya - founder and CEO of Social Capital and a frequent sponsor of special purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs, - has developed a loyal following on social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter, where he openly discusses his next targets and slings insults at hedge funds and traditional <keyword id="25455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="finance">finance</keyword> institutions. </p><p>Twitch, which is owned by Amazon, has an estimated <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/twitch-transparency-report-overdue/">26 million daily users.</a> Twitch did not immediately respond to request to comment from Insider.</p><p>Amid the surge of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-do-spacs-work-get-created-costs-guide">SPAC deals in recent months</a>, Palihapitiya has become a leader in navigating the increasingly crowded market and appealing to an anti-establishment group of investors. His star has continued to rise thanks largely to his ability to speak openly and candidly about <keyword id="1817616" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="SPAC">SPAC</keyword> deals before they start trading, a practice that is restricted in the traditional initial public offering process. </p><p>"I am a byproduct of my generation and media culture, which is faceted," Palihapitiya said in a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqtd8CuqF7A&amp;t=1056s056s056s">recent interview with Bloomberg</a>. "Not always great facets, but multifaceted. And so you have to speak in the language of the times in order to get your point across."</p><p>As a result, the investor has built a growing audience of day traders and investors that cling to his every word in search of the next big deal, which can translate to big business for streaming platforms like Twitch and cable networks.</p><p>According to the Wall Street Journal, Palihapitiya arranged for extended airtime with CNBC on the days of specific announcements during which he presents slides from his investor presentation. His appearances on CNBC have had significant influence on the perception of the SPAC, and their ability to bring  a company public without having to go through the formal IPO process. </p><p>"I think that SPACs are very much here to stay," <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqtd8CuqF7A&amp;t=1112s112s">Palihapitiya told Bloomberg</a> in February. "Using the language of inequality, it evens the playing field. It democratizes access to high growth companies. How? Because it allows retail and it allows long-tail institutional investors. Folks that might not have necessarily been tier one hedge funds, now they can also play."</p>

By Lalit K Jha <p>Washington, Apr 10 () A high-profile diaspora group of some of the top Indian American corporate executives and leaders have raised USD 600 million to fight hunger and provide direct relief to vulnerable populations affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the United States and India.</p><p> ChaloGive for COVID-19 launched by Indiaspora has raised USD 500 million from its leadership network. Indiaspora also announced another USD 100 million as matching donation for its online giving campaign starting Friday.</p><p>"This pandemic has exposed an already existing hunger crisis," said Indra Nooyi, former Pepsico CEO. </p><p> "Together, as a society we must rise to this moment and address this great need knowing our investment in people, in families, and in communities will reap untold benefits not only now but into the future," she said.</p><p> Money raised by Indiaspora will meet demand on the ground through beneficiary non-profits Feeding America in the US and Goonj in India, a media release said.</p><p> One of the most pressing and urgent challenges facing both the US and India right now is hunger, which is a deciding factor in Indiaspora's new ChaloGive campaign, it added.</p><p>"We are facing an unprecedented situation due to Covid-19," said Anand Rajaraman, a Silicon Valley-based serial entrepreneur and venture capitalist, and an Indiaspora Founders Circle member who, along with his wife Kaushie Adiseshan, is a lead donor for the campaign.</p><p>"The drastic measures necessary to control this pandemic have created special challenges for vulnerable sections of society across the world, particularly in India and the US. Indiaspora has the opportunity to unite the diaspora to quickly and decisively help in the midst of this crisis," Rajaraman said.</p><p>"While all eyes are on frontline hospitals, millions in America and across the globe suffer silently from a growing and equally alarming epidemic of food insecurity as the COVID-19 crisis threatens to push already struggling families deeper into poverty," said Sejal Hathi, an Indiaspora Board member and physician at Massachusetts General Hospital.</p><p>"Now more than ever is the time for communities like Indiaspora's to come together and rise to this call to feed people in need," Hathi said.</p><p> Indiaspora said ChaloGive for COVID-19 provides an opportunity for the Indian diaspora to make a collective impact toward helping marginalized communities which have been disproportionately affected by the ongoing crisis.</p><p>"This crisis has made it even harder for those who were already struggling to survive," said Kris Gopalakrishnan, chairman of Axilor Ventures and a founder of IT services company Infosys, who is also an Indiaspora Founders Circle member. </p><p>"Given the increasingly global world we are living in, India and its diaspora are in a unique and powerful position to help each other," he added.</p><p> It is essential that individuals, especially vulnerable populations who are most at risk, maintain access to food during this public health emergency," said former U.S. Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy.</p><p> "I proudly support this campaign and trust its impact will go far to bring relief to those struggling with food insecurity," he said.</p><p>In India, philanthropists Rohini and Nandan Nilekani and Bollywood actress Nandita Das also have voiced their support for the campaign.</p><p>"Goonj is just the kind of organisation we can rely on in this double crisis of health and livelihoods," said Rohini Nilekani. </p><p> "It has decades of experience serving the most vulnerable while striving to preserve the dignity of every stakeholder, and it has time and again demonstrated a scaled up, rapid response in the aftermath of disasters. We have been supporters of Goonj for many years. High-profile Indian diaspora group raises USD 600K for COVID-19 relief

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>YouTube</span></p><p class="caption">Copa90 recently featured in an ad campaign for YouTube in the UK.</p></div><p></p></div></div>It doesn't have a huge package of broadcasting rights, nor does it exist on TV, yet youth-focused YouTube soccer channel Copa90 has huge ambitions to take on ESPN to become "undeniable as the global youth football platform."</p><p>Launched in 2012, Copa90 is owned and operated by UK-based production company Bigballs Media, which was an early pioneer in digital-first original films, having been nominated for a BAFTA for the world's first drama on a social network - "Kate Modern," on Bebo - and creating a Cannes Gold Lion winning social football game, I am Playr.</p><p>Copa90 dubs itself "the home of football fan culture." Content includes embedding its presenters with "Ultras" fan groups, telling the fan stories of big derby days, and producing fun animations to bring footballing stats to life.  </p><p>The channel has more than 1 million subscribers in more than 200 countries, and the Copo90 network's rise - which also includes the KickTV North American soccer-focused channel and the Copa Collective blogging community - helped owner company Bigballs Media earn a £7 million ($10.8 million) investment from Liberty Global, one of the world's largest cable TV companies, and VC fund e.ventures in October. The Series A round saw the two companies take a combined 14% stake in the business, valuing Bigballs Media at £50 million ($77.3 million,) <a href="http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/decf3026-6e73-11e5-8171-ba1968cf791a.html#axzz3qKRhUw1a">according to The Financial Times</a>.</p><p>At a $77.3 million valuation and yet to turn a profit, Bigballs Media and Copa90 is nowhere close to the <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbadenhausen/2014/04/29/the-value-of-espn-surpasses-50-billion/">estimated $50 billion value of ESPN</a>. Yet Bigballs Media CEO Tom Thirlwall told Business Insider his company is on track to beat the sports behemoth in another crucial area.</p><h2>"The thing that has all the scarcity and value - the [broadcasting] rights - is actually the thing that has the least value."</h2><p>Thirlwall said the company set out to appeal to a young, connected football fan "completely under-served by traditional media."</p><p>"There's a generation that's having a completely different relationship with football than my generation - I'm 42 - and certainly my parent's generation," Thirlwall said. "We just saw this huge gaping opportunity where young football fans are catching goals on Vine 20-seconds after they've been scored, and relying on completely different influences to analyze a game."</p><p></p><p>Copa90's aim was to be the media brand right at the heart of that action.</p><p>"Just as ESPN announced itself in the 70s by buying up all the long-tail sports rights and becoming, by default, the biggest US sports media brand and now the most valuable media brand in the world, we thought that if we aimed to become that media brand that represents this young, connected audience, then who knows where this can go? We want to become and set our stall out to become a brand that mirrors, reflects, and actually champions young football fan culture," Thirlwall added.</p><p>But while Copa90 has bought up small packages of broadcasting rights, such as with the MLS in the US (which in turn became a minor shareholder in the business,) it doesn't plan to use expensive rights to boss others out of the game. </p><p>"We knew that all the preconceived knowledge around football and sport generally on TV was one of 'if you don't have any rights, then you're not in the game.' Yet it's funny that when you see the world from a completely different lens, you realize they are all wrong and you're right," Thirlwall said. "What I mean is that our audience was, and still is, getting their football, and the game itself, from a live stream or a whole host of different sources. The thing that had all the scarcity and the value - the rights - was actually the thing that had the least value."</p><p>Instead, it's the stories behind the game that Copa90 focuses on - amputee football, the Syrian refugees about to be signed by Bayern Munich, and so on. And it's this kind of immersive journalism that gives the channel access beyond other sports media. Thirwall said the Carpi FC Ultras in Italy recently accepted its request rather than Sky Italia's to interview the group because "they wanted to do it in 20 minutes and we wanted to take five days."</p><p></p><p>"We feel like we're looking through the other end of the telescope. But we have the right end of the telescope and they have the wrong end. What they were looking at is getting smaller and smaller, and what we're looking at is getting bigger and bigger," according to Thirlwall.</p><h2>Copa90 plans to have a "bigger footprint" during the next World Cup than the BBC or ESPN</h2><p>Copa90's ascension has been boosted, in the UK at least, by <a href="https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=2&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CCsQFjABahUKEwi-6aOw2vHIAhWHXhQKHchCDJE&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thedrum.com%2Fnews%2F2015%2F09%2F28%2Fyoutube-launches-campaign-build-profile-creators-sortedfood-and-copa90&amp;usg=AFQjCNEvMndEM98T15ESX2zTu1gLWBdY8A">YouTube featuring the channel in its latest advertising campaign</a>, which is currently live on TV, billboards, and digital.</p><p>Thirlwall hopes the campaign will not only appeal to consumers in the region, but place Copa90 at front-of-mind amongst brand directors and media planners when they are thinking about engaging a young audience of football fans. The majority of Copa90's revenue is generated by signing deals with brands including Nike, Adidas, Hyundai, and New Balance for video sponsorships or paid-for branded content.</p><p>In 2016, Copa90's big focus is growing out its audience across the globe, particularly in South East Asia where football is growing in popularity. The channel is currently running an "In Search Of..." contest to find new correspondents and film-makers in 18 countries around the world.</p><p></p><p>"In a few months time, and by the time the next World Cup comes around, we will have a greater media presence than ESPN and the BBC as a result of our contributor and reporter network," Thirlwall said.</p><p>The company also hopes exploring new platforms such as Facebook, Snapchat, and its own website and mobile apps will amplify its distribution. The recent funding will also help Copa90 finance a new data science division to help understand and grow its audience.</p><p>Copa90 is also planning on building out the experiential side of its business - Business Insider actually met Thirlwall at a fan experience on London's Southbank where passers-by were invited to record their own 360-degree football skill videos. Thirlwall said more fan experiences are planned for the Euro 2016 and Copa America Centenario USA 2016 tournaments.</p><h2>TV is "not as interesting"</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>YouTube/KITPLUS</span></p><p class="caption">Tom Thirlwall, CEO of Bigballs Media.</p></div><p></p></div></div>But there's two things Thirlwall said Copa90 isn't interested in: TV or an acquisition.</p><p>"TV has come knocking for us on several occasions, but it's just broadly not as interesting. We are not in control and we don't learn or have a dialog with our audience. It doesn't necessarily do anything for our brand, and sometimes the economics aren't great as well," Thirlwall said.</p><p>Copa90 is open to working with rival sports networks such as ESPN or Vice Sports at a partnership level, but the company wants to stay independent.</p><p>"I would say we want to continue what we are doing - I don't want to be constrained or boxed-in in terms of output," Thirlwall said. "I think we can be the next global football network ... if you start prettying yourself for acquisition because you feel you need to have that exit strategy, then you're taking your eye off your real ambition.
