How to earn money from Reliance Jio's new app JioPOS Lite

New Delhi, Dec 16 () Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries on Monday said it will divest Jio's telecom tower assets to Canada's Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP for Rs 25,215 crore.
 RIL said its unit, Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings Ltd (RIIHL) has inked binding agreements with Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP and its partners for the tower business deal.
 Brookfield will buyout 100 per cent equity of the operating tower company.
 RIIHL "has entered into binding agreements with Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP, and its institutional partners, for an investment of Rs 25,215 crore in the units to be issued by the Tower Infrastructure Trust," the company said in a statement.
 Under the deal, RIIHL, the sponsor of Tower Infrastructure Trust, would issue units in the trust to Brookfield affiliate BIF IV Jarvis India and some co-investors.
 After the deal is closed, the Canadian alternative assets manager, Brookfield and its partners would become sponsors of the trust, holding 100 per cent of India's largest telecom tower company with 130,000 towers through Tower Infrastructure Trust, while the RIL subsidiary would become a co-sponsor, but will hold no units.
 This is the single largest foreign investment in an Indian infrastructure vehicle.
 Proceeds from the investment by Brookfield and long-term loans will be used to repay existing financial liabilities of Reliance Jio Infratel Pvt Ltd (RJIPL), including loans extended by RIL. It owns Rs 12,000 crore to RIL.
 "At the closing of the transaction, the Trust will own 100 per cent of the issued and paid-up equity share capital of Reliance Jio lnfratel Pvt Ltd," the statement said.
 RJIPL has a current portfolio of around 130,000 communication towers that forms the infrastructure backbone of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd's (Jio) telecommunication network and has plans to expand this to 175,000 towers.
 Jio is an anchor tenant of the tower portfolio under a 30-year Master Services Agreement.
 "We are pleased to enter into this long and strategic relationship with Brookfield, which is one of the largest and most respected managers of infrastructure assets globally.
 "We are confident of Brookfield's abilities to manage this large portfolio of high-quality infrastructure assets and further enhancing value creation opportunities. New Delhi, May 8 () US-based private equity firm Vista Equity Partners will buy a 2.32 per cent stake in billionaire Mukesh Ambani's digital unit, Jio Platforms, for Rs 11,367 crore, the company announced on Friday. "This investment values Jio Platforms at an equity value of Rs 4.91 lakh crore and an enterprise value of Rs 5.16 lakh crore," the company said in a statement. Vista's investment will translate into a 2.32 per cent equity stake on a fully diluted basis, making Vista the largest investor in Jio Platforms behind Reliance Industries and Facebook. Facebook had bought 9.99 per cent stake in Jio Platforms - the firm that houses India's youngest but biggest telecom firm, for Rs 43,574 crore. That deal was followed by Silver Lake - the world's largest tech investor - buying 1.15 per cent stake in Jio Platforms for Rs 5,665.75 crore. "Jio Platforms has now raised Rs 60,596.37 crore from leading technology investors in less than three weeks," the statement said. Jio Platforms, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries, is a next-generation tech company that brings together Jio's leading digital apps, digital ecosystems and high speed connectivity platform under one umbrella. "Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), will invest Rs 9,093.60 crore in Jio Platforms at an equity value of Rs 4.91 lakh crore and an enterprise value of Rs 5.16 lakh crore," the company said in a statement. Jio Platforms partners with football club Manchester City

New Delhi, May 4 () Following footsteps of Facebook, Silver Lake Partners - the world's largest tech investor - on Monday agreed to invest Rs 5,655.75 crore to buy a 1.15 per cent stake in billionaire Mukesh Ambani's digital unit that houses India's youngest but biggest telecom firm. The investment in Jio Platforms is at a 12.5 per cent premium to the Facebook's USD 5.7 billion (Rs 43,574 crore) investment for a 9.99 per cent stake in the firm. The deal, as well as some other strategic and financial investments in works, will help Ambani cut debt at its oil-to-telecom conglomerate, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL). "Silver Lake will invest Rs 5,655.75 crore into Jio Platforms," Reliance said in a statement. "This investment values Jio Platforms at an equity value of Rs 4.90 lakh crore and an enterprise value of Rs 5.15 lakh crore and represents a 12.5 per cent premium to the equity valuation of the Facebook investment announced on April 22, 2020." Jio Platforms is a subsidiary of RIL. Facebook had bought a 9.99 per cent stake in Jio Platforms for USD 5.7 billion (Rs 43,574 crore) at an enterprise value of Rs 4.62 lakh crore. Strategic and financial investors are to form 20 per cent of Jio Platforms -- half of this has already been picked by Facebook. Silver Lake is one of the investors for the remaining and more such investments are likely. Ambani, 63, chairman and managing director of RIL, had in August last year set a target of March 2021, to make his conglomerate net debt-free. But thanks to the Facebook deal, a Rs 53,125 crore rights issue, Silver Lake investment, and more stake sale to companies such as Saudi Aramco, the target is likely to be achieved by December. "Jio Platforms, a wholly-owned subsidiary of RIL, is a next-generation technology company building a digital society for India by bringing together Jio's leading digital apps, digital ecosystems, and India's #1 high-speed connectivity platform under one umbrella," the statement said. "Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, which provides connectivity platform to over 388 million subscribers, will continue to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jio Platforms," it added. With around USD 40 billion in combined assets under management and committed capital, Silver Lake is the global leader in large-scale technology investing. Its investments include Airbnb, Alibaba, Ant Financial, Alphabet's Verily and Waymo units, Dell Technologies, Twitter and numerous other global technology leaders. At the end of March quarter, Reliance had an outstanding debt of Rs 3,36,294 crore and cash in hand of Rs 1,75,259 crore. After adjusting cash, the net debt came to Rs 1,61,035 crore. Of the outstanding debt, Rs 2,62,000 crore is on RIL books and Rs 23,000 crore is with Jio. As part of debt reduction plans, the company expects to complete a capital raising programme totalling Rs 1.04 lakh crore by June. This includes the rights offering of one share for every 15 shares held at Rs 1,257, a 14 per cent discount to the closing price for April 30. Also included is the Rs 43,574 crore from the Facebook-Jio Platforms deal and Rs 7,000 crore from the sale of 49 per cent stake in fuel retailing venture to UK's BP plc. Commenting on the deal, Vikas Halan, Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance, Moody's Investors Service, said "Silver Lake's investment in Jio Platforms further illustrates RIL ability and willingness to monetize its digital services business and reinforces the company's commitment to achieve a zero net debt position by March 31, 2021." Investment by Silver Lake is priced at a premium to recently announced investment by Facebook Inc and establishes another pricing benchmark for Jio Platforms, he said adding the deal was credit positive as it enhances RIL's already strong financial flexibility. Including the recently announced rights issue and investments by Silver Lake and Facebook Inc, RIL has announced initiatives that could reduce net debt by about USD 13.6 billion from reported net debt of USD 21.4 billion as on March 31, 2020, he added. "In the wake of the severe economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, globally and especially within India, this partnership with one of the most renowned tech-investors globally, Silver Lake, has special significance," Reliance statement said. This is the first sizable investment by Silver Lake in India. Silver Lake follows Facebook, to invest Rs 5,656 cr in Ambani's Jio Platforms

(Eds: Updating) New Delhi, June 13 () Reliance Industries on Saturday said it has sold a further 1.32 per cent stake in its digital arm Jio Platforms for Rs 6441.3 crore to TPG and L Catterton. With this investment, Jio Platforms has now raised an overall Rs 1,04,326.9 crore from marquee global investors, including Facebook, Silver Lake, Vista Equity Partners, General Atlantic, KKR, Mubadala, ADIA, TPG and L Catterton, since April 22. Reliance Industries has sold a 0.93 per cent stake in Jio Platforms to global alternative asset firm TPG for Rs 4,546.80 crore, the company said in a statement on Saturday evening. In a separate statement soon after, the company said L Catterton, one of the world's largest consumer focused private equity firms, will invest Rs 1894.50 crore, translating into a 0.39 per cent equity stake in Jio Platforms on a fully diluted basis. Founded in 1989, L Catterton is the investment partner for leading consumer-focused brands around the world. "This investment values Jio Platforms at an equity value of Rs 4.91 lakh crore and an enterprise value of Rs 5.16 lakh crore," the statement added. With these investments, Reliance has sold about 22.3 per cent equity in Jio Platforms, ahead of a potential IPO. The deal book was opened with Facebook picking up a 9.99 per cent stake in the firm that houses India's youngest but largest telecom firm on April 22 for Rs 43,574 crore. Within days of that deal, Silver Lake - the world's largest tech investor - bought a 1.15 per cent stake in Jio Platforms for Rs 5,665.75 crore on May 4. On May 8, US-based Vista Equity Partners bought 2.32 per cent stake in Jio Platforms for Rs 11,367 crore. On May 17, global equity firm General Atlantic picked up 1.34 per cent stake in Jio Platforms for Rs 6,598.38 crore. This was followed by US private equity giant KKR buying 2.32 per cent for Rs 11,367 crore. Abu Dhabi soverign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Co picked up 1.85 per cent in Jio Platforms for Rs 9,093.60 crore on June 5. On that day, private equity fund Silver Lake invested another Rs 4,546.80 crore for additional 0.93 per cent stake in Jio Platforms. Jio Platforms has raised Rs 67,194.75 crore from leading technology investors, including Facebook, Silver Lake Partners, Vista Equity Partners and General Atlantic, in less than four weeks. This investment continues to reaffirm Jio as a next generation software product and platform company, the company said in a statement.

New Delhi, May 28 () Abu Dhabi-based sovereign investor Mubadala Investment Company is in discussions to invest in Reliance Industries' digital unit Jio Platforms, a source said. Last week, Reliance Industries had announced sale of a 2.32 per cent stake in its digital unit to the US-based private equity giant KKR for Rs 11,367 crore, the fifth marquee deal over the past few weeks that will inject a combined Rs 78,562 crore in the oil-to-telecom conglomerate to help it pare debt. The source said talks are on with Mubadala Investment Company for a possible stake sale in Jio Platforms, but did not divulge details. An e-mail sent to Reliance Jio for comments, and a separate query to Mubadala Investment Company did not elicit response. New Delhi, Jun 3 () Facebook will acquire 9.9 per cent stake in Jio Platforms announced last month via a new entity -- Jaadhu Holdings LLC, as per regulatory documents. In April, Facebook had announced an investment of USD 5.7 billion (Rs 43,574 crore) in Jio Platforms. According to a submission made to the Competition Commission of India, Jaadhu Holdings, LLC is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Facebook, Inc. "Jaadhu is a newly incorporated company formed in March 2020 under the laws of the State of Delaware, US...Jaadhu is not engaged in any business in India or anywhere in the world," it said. The notification form is being filed in relation to Jaadhu's proposed acquisition of a minority, the non-controlling shareholding of approximately 9.99 per cent of the fully diluted equity share capital in Jio Platforms, it added. Simultaneously, Jio Platforms, WhatsApp Inc, and Reliance Retail Ltd (RRL) are proposing to enter into a separate commercial arrangement, it added. JioMart - a new RRL commerce marketplace which connects customers with Kirana stores and other small and microlocal Indian businesses - plans to integrate certain WhatsApp services with JioMart. The submission noted that the proposed transaction does not alter the competitive landscape in any potential market, and that Facebook and Jio Platforms will continue to operate independently. "The proposed transaction and the proposed commercial arrangement are pro-competitive, beneficial for consumers, Kirana stores and other small and micro local Indian businesses, and takes forward the vision of digital India," it added.
