TWC has launched a campaign for "<a href="http://www.twcpublicity.com/movie.php?id=175#photos" target="_blank">Salinger</a>" called Uncover The Mystery But Don’t Spoil The Secrets."
The film, directed by Shane Salerno, has been in production for more than nine years and is supposed to show a bunch of never-before-seen "footage, photographs, and biographical information" on the reclusive author.
Weinstein wants information on the film to be kept so tight-lipped that the only people seeing the film are being hand selected and are being asked to sign a nondisclosure agreements.
Normally moviegoers and journalists are asked to keep mum about a movie embargoed until a certain date when seeing a new film regardless, but filmgoers aren't always asked to sign an NDA.

Because of the revelatory and confidential nature of the documentary and book, Salerno, TWC and Simon &amp; Schuster are encouraging audiences and industry insiders who see the film and read the book to remain tight-lipped on the secrets they unveils and give others a chance to experience them for themselves. This isn't the first time Weinstein Company's co-chairman <keyword id="176675" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Harvey-Weinstein">Harvey Weinstein</keyword> has tried to keep news about one of his company's future releases secret. 
In the press release, Weinstein says he asked those seeing 1993's "The Crying Game" (a Miramax release) to keep the film's secret prior to release.

Salinger, Malcolm Gladwell, Stephen Colbert - told <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/09/technology/hachette-says-amazon-is-delaying-delivery-of-some-books.html?ref=technology&amp;_r=0" target="_blank">The New York Times</a> that Amazon is delaying the delivery of some of its books, even though it is fulfilling all of Amazon's orders.
When a company that controls more than a third of the book market in the United States lists delays for the shipment of your titles for several weeks, it's a big deal. 
Hachette said that Amazon is essentially discouraging users from buying its products, not because of a lack of supply from Amazon, but for "reasons of their own."
Both old and new Hachette books have listed shipping estimates of up to five weeks, when most popular books on Amazon are available within two days. 
"We have been asked legitimate questions about why many of our books are at present marked out of stock with relatively long estimated shipping times on the Amazon website, in contrast to immediate availability on other websites and in stores," Sophie Cottrell, a Hachette spokeswoman, told the New York Times. "We are satisfying all Amazon's orders promptly."
In the past, Amazon has used its incredible selling power to demand bigger discounts from publishers, or more time to pay its bills. There have been times when a publisher wouldn't comply, and Amazon would take that company's titles out of its recommendation algorithms. In 2010, Amazon and the publisher Macmillan got into a dispute about e-book prices and Amazon took the "buy" buttons off all its books.

Hachette Says Amazon Is Intentionally Delaying The Delivery Of Some Of Its Books To Amazon Customers

The introduction to the post goes something like this: "List 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Don't take more than a few minutes, and don't think too hard. They do not have to be the 'right' books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way." 
Each person then shares 10 books and then challenges a few friends to do the same. 
Now, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/notes/facebook-data-science/books-that-have-stayed-with-us/10152511240328859">thanks to data</a> from researchers Lada Adamic and Pinkesh Patel, we know which books Facebook users say have made a most memorable impact. To compile the list, Adamic and Patel analyzed 130,000 status updates that contained the words "10 books" or "ten books" and that were posted in the last two weeks of August 2014. 
They also included a percentage that indicated just how many of the 130,000 lists included each of the books.

20 Beach Reads You Should Pick Up This Summer

Between the release of "Days of Heaven" in 1978 and <a href="http://flavorwire.com/601380/here-are-some-photos-of-terrence-malick">the premiere of "Song to Song" at SXSW last week</a>, he didn't grant a single interview. Photos of him were nearly as rare. Even TMZ didn't know what they had on their hands when they <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UraxfJFTJk">accidentally got footage of him in 2012</a>. He is the cinematic version of J.D. Salinger.But despite that - or maybe because - he's so mysterious, Malick attracts the best actors in the business. His newest movie, "Song to Song," has yet another stacked cast. It stars Michael Fassbender, Rooney Mara, Ryan Gosling, Cate Blanchett, and Natalie Portman.&#xa0;His previous fiction film, "Knight of Cups," had Christian Bale, Blanchett, and Portman. "To the Wonder" starred Ben Affleck, and "The Tree of Life" starred Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, and introduced the world to Jessica Chastain.For the most part, these actors are in high demand in the movie industry. They're selective with their roles, and could be making millions of dollars by starring in blockbusters, or chasing after an Oscar by being in a biopic instead of an enigmatic two-hour tone poem.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>But watch any of Terrence Malick's movies, and it's clear why any actor would want to work with him. Sure, <a href="http://ew.com/movies/2017/03/11/song-to-song-ew-review/">his films are easy to mock</a>. They barely have a plot. The camera (three-time Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki is a frequent collaborator) roams around instead of staying still. Actors speak in voiceover more than they do in dialogue. His movies frequently have shots of hands gently flowing through fields of wheat or people kneeling and pressing their faces into someone else's navel.On the other hand, the expressionistic style of the film allows for actors to open up. Each character is still distinct, but the lack of constant dialogue means that the actors have to find new ways to communicate who their characters are to the audience. It's a challenge that actors at the top of their game would relish.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Michael Fassbender in "Song to Song" is the best example of this style. It's some of the best work he's ever done. He plays an egoistical music producer who seduces and betrays the women who depend on him. Like all of Malick's characters, he speaks mostly in half-sentences, so he largely conveys&#xa0;his character with his constantly moving physical presence. He rolls around, hoists Rooney Mara and Natalie Portman into the air,&#xa0;and gets into friendly fisticuffs with Ryan Gosling. If Malick's camera is always dancing, then Fassbender dances right back.Rooney Mara, too, gives one of her widest-ranging performances. She normally plays women who are tightly wound, like Catherine in "Her" and&#xa0;Therese in "Carol." In "Song to Song," she's a young rock musician trying to get a big break, who tenderly falls in and out of love with Ryan Gosling's character. Gosling himself gets a chance to communicate with music rather than just words, playing the guitar. It's the latest in a string of movies where&#xa0;he's an instrument-playing romantic, along with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gVrk8Ynzlo">"La La Land"</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANbkNhU4VSY">"Blue Valentine."</a><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>"Song to Song" is also more musical than Malick's&#xa0;other films. He usually uses classical composers for the score - and he still does here - but it's set in the Austin rock scene, and <a href="http://www.texasmonthly.com/the-culture/the-not-so-secret-life-of-terrence-malick/">he shot the movie in Austin, where he lives</a>. He also gives a few rock stars - like Patti Smith and Iggy Pop - cameos, and the chance to give plausibility to the movie's world.It's also a companion piece to "Knight of Cups." In that movie, Christian Bale played a highly successful but emotionally empty screenwriter who feeds on Hollywood's decadence and goes through a string of women to satisfy him. The movie focused mostly on Bale's character, leaving the hurt women in his life in the periphery as Bale sought redemption.In "Song to Song," Fassbender plays a similarly successful and empty music producer. But instead of focusing on him too much, Malick instead pays attention to the women around him, who sacrifice their time and lives&#xa0;for his happiness, only to have their own upended&#xa0;and left in the emotional wreck of his recklessness.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>There are some risks to working with Terrence Malick. One of his filming methods is to shoot reams and reams of footage - <a href="https://www.criterion.com/current/posts/2701-10-things-i-learned-badlands">he shot one million feet of film for his 1998 film "The Thin Red Line"</a> - and whittle it down into a two-hour story in post-production. This means that roles are inevitably cut down in the final cut. Adrien Brody, for example, was supposed to be the main character in "The Thin Red Line," and spent six months shooting the film, but <a href="http://www.indiewire.com/2013/04/10-actors-cut-from-terrence-malick-films-how-they-reacted-99568/">his role was cut down to just a couple of lines of dialogue</a>. Val Kilmer was <a href="http://www.texasmonthly.com/the-culture/the-not-so-secret-life-of-terrence-malick/">supposed to have a big scene as a rock star who goes berserk during a performance in "Song to Song,"</a>&#xa0;but his scene was only a couple of minutes long, and most of the footage was of the back of his head.It can be tough on actors. Brody <a href="http://www.eskimo.com/~toates/malick/trl/interviews/brody.html">called the experience "unpleasant"</a>&#xa0;after he had already begun doing press for the film. Mickey Rourke, who was excised completely from "The Thin Red Line," lashed out and <a href="http://www.indiewire.com/2013/04/10-actors-cut-from-terrence-malick-films-how-they-reacted-99568/">said he was cut for "political reasons."</a> <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Malick seems to be getting more sensitive to the criticism. He's been more careful, and the actors who work with him seldom seem to mind. Rachel Weisz, who filmed scenes for 2013's "To the Wonder" but wasn't in the final cut, was indifferent. "One never knows with Terrence Malick," <a href="http://blog.sfgate.com/dailydish/2013/03/08/rachel-weisz-talks-about-being-cut-from-terrence-malick-film/">she told The San Francisco Chronicle</a>. "You can shoot for three months and end up not being in the movie."For actors like her, the chance to work with Terrence Malick is worth it. Even if they don't appear in the final film too much, they'll have the chance to work on their craft in a new way. Every A-lister in Hollywood wants to work with a reclusive director who's given just one interview in 37 years

<div class="image-container"><div class="image"><a href="http://www.riddickmovie.com/">Universal</a></div></div>After nearly a decade, <keyword id="6369689" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Vin-Diesel">Vin Diesel</keyword> returns as cult favorite <keyword id="1634783" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Riddick">Riddick</keyword>, a convict with the ability to see in the dark, in this weekend's follow-up to the 2004 film "Chronicles of Riddick."
The third film in the series from director David Twohy ("<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0878638/" target="_blank">The Fugitive</a>"), the film follows the gist of the two films that precede it with Riddick deserted on a hostile planet left to fend for himself.
The first two films were never major box-office hits. Instead, over the years, the series gained a cult following. ("<a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=pitchblack.htm" target="_blank">Pitch Black</a>" earned $53 million worldwide while the costly $105 million sequel "<a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=chroniclesofriddick.htm" target="_blank">The Chronicles of Riddick</a>" grossed $115 million in theaters.) 
"The reality is that I always envisioned the 'Riddick' franchise as a continuing mythology, so I always imagined that there would be many other films to follow," Diesel told <a href="http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2013/09/03/vin-diesel-discusses-riddick-sci-fi-fandom-and-the-future-of-film/" target="_blank">Spinoff Online</a>. "And yet, I do feel like I answered that growing request from the fans that said, 'Please make another Riddick.'"
After many were unfazed by the 2004 sequel "<a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/chronicles_of_riddick/" target="_blank">Chronicles of Riddick</a>," the new film returns to its roots channeling the first film in the series "Pitch Black."
The film is currently <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/riddick/" target="_blank">sitting at 59%</a> on film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. 
No matter how the film is being reviewed, it's the perfect time to release the film - Diesel's riding the media wave after <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/fast-and-furious-6-has-127-million-weekend-2013-5" target="_blank">this summer's hugely successful "Fast &amp; Furious 6"</a> and the actor <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/vin-diesel-hints-at-marvel-movie-on-facebook-2013-6" target="_blank">hinted at an appearance in a future Marvel movie</a>. 
It's clear the film is appealing to Diesel's wide fan base. According to a Fandango survey of more than 1,000 "Riddick" ticket-buyers, 89% are fans of the actor while 67% have seen all of his "Fast &amp; Furious" films in theaters.

It's not the end of the world. You're not heading out to see "Riddick" for dialogue.

''Sloppy'' is a kind word, actually, for the ridiculously clumsy dialogue in ''Riddick.''
But, you're here for the gore anyway, right? Right ... 
<a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie/riddick/review/617571" target="_blank">The Hollywood Reporter (THR)</a>:
"Plenty of bone crunching and blood gushing, along with some selective nudity, have boosted the movie's rating up to an "R," but lacking the distinctive visual style, robust production design and planet-hopping pace of its predecessor."
... and crude jokes.
<a href="http://www.laweekly.com/2013-09-05/film-tv/riddick-movie-review/" target="_blank">L.A. Weekly</a>:
"Instead, we must pan for scraps of pleasure … while trying not to get so riled up by all the rape jokes that we spin around and stab our seatmate ... Nothing says Strong Female Character like a savage babe who spends most of the film getting sexually harassed."
<div class="image-container float_right"><div class="image"><a href="http://www.riddickmovie.com/">Universal</a></div></div>Don't expect anything mind-blowing. THR's Justin Lowe says the film <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie/riddick/review/617571" target="_blank">doesn't take a lot of risks</a>.
"The latest installment feels tentative even at a flabby 120 minutes, more like a placeholder that barely advances the considerable Riddick mythology. Playing it safe with a script that offers Riddick up as a lone avenging hero, Twohy passes on the opportunity to effectively shade the character's distinctive dimensionality."
<a href="http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/04/riddick-review" target="_blank">IGN</a>: 
"It's not to say there isn't entertainment value to be had in this - there are a few cool kills throughout - it's just that we've seen this all before."
Critics can't decide whether they enjoy the CGI planet Riddick inhabits or hate it.

"Watching this see-in-the-dark muscleman brooding against gorgeous otherworldly vistas, all while crafting pointy homemade weapons and befriending a scene-stealing CGI canine (no joke), is a sci-fi aficionado's delight."

 "While 'Chronicles' was a full-blown space opera, the current iteration is beset by unremarkable CGI effects and tethered to limited locations."
Overall, it's fun, campy, and everything that will keep the cult-following of the original film happy, should leave happy.

"It's precisely the movie I thought it would be: an overly macho Vin Diesel killing monsters and scumbags. Predictable and pedestrian, sure, but are you not getting exactly what you pay for? This is a Riddick movie not a Harold Pinter drama."

"And where 'Chronicles' overdosed on cartoonish CGI, 'Riddick' returns to the 'Pitch Black' formula of mixing animated elements with practical effects and puppetry, creating a tactile otherworldly environment that ranges from the sets to the props to the creatures (designed by the great Patrick Tatopoulos) themselves."
Overall Consensus: If you're a fan of the series, and Vin Diesel, see it. 
The film clearly knows its audience. We're not worried about its box-office performance this weekend. The film is the fan favorite for the weekend on Fandango - not that that's a great feat. There honestly isn't much else out, unless a <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/salinger/" target="_blank">poorly reviewed documentary on J.D. Salinger</a> ("Catcher in the Rye" author) sounds appealing.
