Pakistan resorted to heavy shelling and firing on Sunday at Indian positions on the Line of Control (<keyword id="6355098" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="LoC">LoC</keyword>) in Jammu and Kashmir's <keyword id="44760" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Poonch">Poonch</keyword> district. At about 3.20 a.m., Pakistan initiated the unprovoked <keyword id="87640" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ceasefire-violation">ceasefire violation</keyword> by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars along the LoC in Mankote sector, Defence Ministry Spokesman Colonel Devender Anand said. "Indian army retaliated befittingly," he added. Since the beginning of this year, Pakistan has been violating with impunity the bilateral ceasefire agreement signed by the two countries in 1999. In over 3,190 such ceasefire violations since January 2020, 24 civilians have been killed and over 100 injured. Lives of thousands of people living in villages close to the LoC have been affected as shells rain from across the LoC and threaten families, homes, cattle besides damaging agricultural fields. Pakistan resorts to heavy shelling at India along the LoC in Poonch

Top security officials fear more terror strikes as many <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=militancy">militants</a> may have crossed the de-facto border from Pakistan, a day after <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Gurdaspur">terrorists attack Gurdaspur</a>, killing seven people, including four policemen. 
 
The security personnel saw similarities between the Gurdaspur attack and attacks in Jammu area in May. 
 
"The same pattern is being repeated. They infiltrate at night, hijack a vehicle and then attack a police station. Now we have to very careful about chapter two, like in May in Samba and Kathua when they divided into two groups. There was a 24-hours gap before the second group attempted an attack," a top security forces official told Economic Times. 
 
Security has been tightened and all military schools in the area have been shut. 
 
Five explosives were found on railway tracks. 
 
"All the five bombs of the railway track are elaborately wired in an IED kind of an arrangement. They are still to be neutralised and are of a highly complex mechanism. We suspect this has been done by a different group as it is well north of the police station," a top official told ET. 
 
The official further told the financial daily that the pattern of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=terrorists+attack">attacks</a> clearly point to a Pakistan trained module working in the Jammu area.

"Dushmun Shikaar, Hum Shikaari" (Enemy is the target, we are the hunters) is the mantra they are following now. 
 Many boards bearing this slogan have come up in the border areas and the <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> is following with all diligence. 
 
The morale of the military has further increased post <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=surgical+strikes&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">surgical strikes</a> on terrorist launch pads in <keyword id="44062" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PoK">PoK</keyword> and are currently giving befitting answer to any ceasefire violation by Pakistan and foil penetration endeavors of terrorists and <keyword id="3738734" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="border-action-teams">Border Action Teams</keyword> (BATs). 
 Similarly, the same motto is believed in by Jawans and officers monitoring the forward post and undertake foot patrolling along LoC amid electronic surveillance put to guard the Indo-Pak border in <keyword id="3736170" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="noushera">Noushera</keyword> sector of Rajouri district, which falls opposite to the <keyword id="3740164" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bhimbher">Bhimbher</keyword> district of PoK, where the heavily armed special forces in pre-dawn surgical strike hit at terror launch pads last month. 
 
Post surgical strike defeat Nooushera sector is now a target of Pakistan Armed forces as it a region with thick coniferous woods, deep valleys, rock-cut mountains. The Noushera sector was once biggest infiltration area as there were huge launching pads and terrorist training camps in Bhimbher-Samahni-Nikyal belt across LoC. 
 
As per the reports, army soldiers are most vigilant along LoC and cannot even for a moment keep LoC out of the manual and electronic sight as Pakistan is insulted after the surgical strike.

As India celebrates the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas today, it is essential to remember the heroes who laid down their lives for the nation. Their supreme sacrifice will never be forgotten by a country on its path to glory on a global stage. <h2>A continued tragedy</h2>The Kargil War left behind a deadly legacy along with long-term trauma among the local residents and the defence personnel who fought valiantly. As per a TOI report, unexploded bombs scattered across the region continue to pose a significant threat to the local population. In 2023 — 24 years after the tragic war — a total of around 336 such unexploded bombs were reportedly neutralised by the Army. Residents live in constant fear of accidental detonations, especially during construction or excavation work. These incidents have resulted in multiple casualties in the past several years, including the tragic death of a young child. Despite the passage of 25 years, the Army remains actively engaged in defusing these dangerous remnants of war. Airports across four states have been cautioned of a conceivable terror attack by the inteligence agencies. Definite notices have been sent out to 22 airport terminals and high security measures are being by authorities.

Police chiefs, the <keyword id="6370623" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="CISF">CISF</keyword> or paramilitary power which monitors airplane terminals, and to state-run and private airlines in every states are additionally cautioned by the civil aviation security bureau. 
 
The security forces are thoroughly checking baggages and be prepared for random detailed checks also. Parking along with loading docks are also under the spotlight. 
 Agencies are concerned about the terror attacks in retaliation for <keyword id="639058" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Surgical-strikes">surgical strikes</keyword> on terror hubs in PoK in which eight terrorist launch pads were eliminated by the Indian Army. 
 Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> was briefed over the security at LoC by the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Intelligence Agencies have been warned of nearly 100 terrorist being prepped to infiltrate in India border before winter sets in and the routes into Kashmir are covered with snow. 
 
Cross border firing and ceasefire violation has been simmered at the LoC. 
 Three Pakistan <keyword id="36724" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Terrorists">Terrorists</keyword> were killed by the Indian soldiers as they were trying to target an army base in the Kupwara district in Kashmir. Maps, arms and many other things were recovered from them.

22 airports are on high alert over intelligence reports of terror attacks

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Pakistan+troops">Pakistani troops</a> resorted to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ceasefire+violation">ceasefire violation</a> twice overnight and targeted Indian posts and civilian areas by shelling 120 mm mortar bombs along the <keyword id="44759" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Line-of-Control">Line of Control</keyword> in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. 
 
The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=indian+army">Indian army</a> also retaliated to the shelling. 
 
"Pakistan troops fired from small arms, mortar bombs of 120 mm and 61 mm range on forward posts along the LoC in Sabzian and Balakote sectors in Poonch district overnight,” a defence spokesman informed. 
 
Pakistani troops fired from automatic weapons in Sabzian sector and Balakote sector till this morning. 
 
The spokesman said that the troops effectively retaliated and informed there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing. 
 
As per reports, there have been 21 ceasefire violations along the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=India-Pakistan+border">India-Pakistan border</a> in Jammu region this month. 
 
On August 11, the Pakistan Army had resorted to unprovoked firing twice across the LoC in Krishna Ghati Sector of Poonch district and Bhimbhergali sector in Rajouri district on August 10 night. 
 
Last month, there were 19 ceasefire violations in which four persons, including three jawans, were killed and 14 others injured. 
 
This month in August, Pakistani troops targeted forward Indian posts along the LoC in Hamirpur-Balakote, Hamirpur, Krishnagati and Sabzian sectors, possibly to facilitate <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=infiltration">infiltration</a> from across the border. 
 
An army jawan was also injured as Pakistani troops opened fire at villages and forward posts in Poonch district along the LoC on August 7.
