In response to the attack at Golan Heights, The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said that top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr was killed in the Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on Tuesday (local time). Fuad Shukr, the "most senior Hezbollah military commander," was killed in the Israeli strike, the IDF said in a statement. Shukr sat on the Jihad Council, Hezbollah's top military body, and was considered to be the head of its strategic division. India advises its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Lebanon amid escalating tensions in the region

The ambassador said that over 30 Indian workers have been injured in the fire incident. "Amb @AdarshSwaika visited the Al-Adan hospital where over 30 Indian workers injured in today's fire incident have been admitted. He met a number of patients and assured them of full assistance from the Embassy," the <keyword id="19949899" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-embassy" source="keywords">Indian embassy</keyword> in Kuwait shared on X. "Almost all are reported to be stable by hospital authorities," they added. The ambassador also visited Farwaniya Hospital, where six workers, who are expected to be mostly Indians, who got injured in the fire incident were admitted. Among those six, the hospital authorities confirmed that four of them have been released, one has shifted to Jahra hospital and one in ward is stable now. Earlier today, the Indian envoy also visited the incident site in Mangaf to ascertain the situation and emphasised that the embassy is in touch with the concerned authorities for necessary action. "In connection with the tragic fire accident involving Indian workers today, Embassy has put in place an emergency helpline number: +965-65505246. All concerned are requested to connect over this helpline for updates. Embassy remains committed to render all possible assistance," the Indian embassy in Kuwait added. Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday expressed shock over the deaths of over 40 people in a fire in the city of Kuwait. Condoling their deaths, EAM Jaishankar further said that the Indian ambassador had gone to the camp and was awaiting further information about the fire incident in Kuwait City. "Deeply shocked by the news of the fire incident in Kuwait City. There are reportedly over 40 deaths and over 50 have been hospitalized. Our Ambassador has gone to the camp. We are awaiting further information," he said in a post on X. Jaishankar further expressed condolences to the victims' families and wished the injured people early and full recovery. "Deepest condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives. Wish early and full recovery to those who have been injured. Our Embassy will render the fullest assistance to all concerned in this regard," he added in his post. A fire broke out in a building housing workers in the city of Mangaf in southern Kuwait early on Wednesday. After this tragic incident, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad al-Yousuf al-Sabah paid a visit to the site and ordered the arrest of the building's owner, as per Al Jazeera. "Unfortunately, the greed of real estate owners is what leads to these matters," said Sheikh Fahad, who also runs the interior and defence ministries. "The building in which the fire occurred was used to house workers, and there were a large number of workers there. Dozens were rescued, but unfortunately, there were many deaths as a result of inhaling smoke from the fire," Al Jazeera reported, citing a senior police commander's statement.

Consul General of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> Nitesh Kumar and President of Nepal-India Women Friendship Society (NIFWS) and Member of House of Representatives <keyword id="2375773" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="chanda-chaudhary" source="Orion">Chanda Chaudhary</keyword> handed over the cylinders on in Saptari district on June 3. A total of 3,000 sets of LPG stoves and 14.2 Kg cylinders and other accessories like regulators and pipes were gifted by the Government of India to underprivileged families of the districts of Sarlahi, Rautahat and Saptari. Approximately, 500 sets were distributed in Kaudena Municipality of Sarlahi district on April 19 this year. The gifting of stoves and cylinders is one of the 75 projects being inaugurated this year in Nepal as part of "India@75 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". The Project is inspired by the <keyword id="8775519" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pradhan-mantri-ujjwala" source="Orion">Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala</keyword> <keyword id="6443343" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="yojana" source="Orion">Yojana</keyword> (PMUY) of the Government of India which is a flagship scheme with the objective to make clean cooking fuel such as LPG available to the rural and deprived households which were otherwise using traditional cooking fuels. <keyword id="196298" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vijay-yadav" source="Orion">Vijay Yadav</keyword>, Chairman of Tirhut Rural Municipality; <keyword id="17624713" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="narendra-karki" source="Orion">Narendra Karki</keyword>, SP of Saptari; <keyword id="17624715" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="radha-kayasth" source="Orion">Radha Kayasth</keyword>, Vice-President of Nepal-India Women Friendship Society; local journalists and other stakeholders were present on the occasion. The families were identified through the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) list in coordination with District Administration Office (DAO) and local level. Social welfare councils have also been roped in for the distribution process. The government of India has approved Nepalese Rupees 2,40,90,000 for this purpose. Consul General congratulated the beneficiaries and noted that the use of traditional cooking fuel is detrimental to the health of rural women and the environment. The gifting of these LPG gas stoves and cylinders reflected the continued support of India to Nepal. NIWFS President Chanda Chaudhary thanked the <keyword id="44734" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-government" source="Orion">Indian Government</keyword> for its continued developmental support to women. Distribution of these LPG gas stoves, gas cylinders and accessories will replace the use of traditional cooking fuels like firewood, coal, and cow-dung cakes, which produce heavy smoke and cause health hazards. Since 2003, India has taken up over 535 High Impact Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal in various sectors Health, Education, Drinking Water and Irrigation, Electrification, etc. and has completed 476 projects and 59 ongoing projects. Amongst these, 81 projects have been undertaken in Province-2, including 19 projects in Sarlahi; 5 projects in Rautahat and 9 projects in Saptari Districts. In addition to these, 87 ambulances to various health posts and 3 school buses have been gifted in these three districts by India. As close neighbours, India and Nepal share wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of this project reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal for the upliftment of its people. Strengthening ties: India gifts 3,000 LPG gas stoves to underprivileged families in Nepal

The <keyword id="54656" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-embassy" source="Orion">Indian Embassy</keyword> in Rome said on Friday that the country has recognised the <keyword id="9617748" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="covishield" source="Orion">Covishield</keyword> vaccine and people who have received the jab are now eligible for a <keyword id="9276440" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="green-pass" source="Orion">Green Pass</keyword>. With <keyword id="21474" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="italy" source="Orion">Italy</keyword>'s recognition, a total 19 European Union (EU) nations have given their go-ahead to Covishield. This is the outcome of a G20 Health Ministers meeting between Union Health Minister <keyword id="2607815" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mansukh-mandaviya" source="Orion">Mansukh Mandaviya</keyword> and his Italian counterpart Roberto Speranza, the Embassy said in a tweet. "Indian vaccine CardHolders are now eligible for the Green Pass," it added Prior to this, Italy had recognised Comirnaty - Pfizer, Moderna, Vaxzervria - AstraZeneca, and <keyword id="92247" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="johnson-johnson" source="Orion">Johnson &amp; Johnson</keyword> vaccines as valid. The other 18 EU nations that have recognised the Covishield vaccine are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Meanwhile, the vaccine row with the UK continues as it has recognised the jab but a 10-day quarantine has been made mandatory which will come into the effect from October 4. Terming the present UK travel restrictions as discrimatory, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that "we have the right to reciprocate in the same manner". However, the British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis said that Covishield vaccine is not a problem and the UK is open to travel. "We're clear Covishield is not a problem. The UK is open to travel and we're already seeing a lot of people going from India to the UK, be it tourists, business people or students".
