India will take on Pakistan in the opening Super 12 match of the <keyword id="11216630" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICC-T20-World-Cup-2022" source="Orion">ICC T20 World Cup 2022</keyword> with the blockbuster game scheduled to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23. The <keyword id="46227" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="international-cricket-council" source="Orion">International Cricket Council</keyword> (ICC) on Friday announced the fixtures for the Men's T20 World Cup 2022, with trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand set to take on Australia in the opening match of the Super 12 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on October 22. The tournament will run between October 18 and November 13, with 16 teams set to compete and seven cities to host matches across Australia. Twelve of those 16 nations are already confirmed, with the final four to be determined by Global Qualifying. In the 'Super 12', England, New Zealand, Australia and Afghanistan have been drawn together in Group 1, with India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh heading into Group 2. The 'Super 12' will start in dramatic fashion in Sydney with a meeting between the two finalists from the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE, with New Zealand taking on defending champions Australia. A day later, India and Pakistan will compete in what will be one of the most hotly-anticipated matches of the tournament. The Super 12 will run for a fortnight, with the two groups set to reach their conclusion on the weekend of the November 5 and 6. In addition to the Pakistan versus India and Australia versus New Zealand matches, a scattering of other fixtures stand out as likely key games in the Super 12 stage. There will be a repeat of the 2021 semifinal between England and New Zealand when the two teams meet at The Gabba in Brisbane on November 1 in what is both teams' penultimate group game. Also, Pakistan are scheduled to face Bangladesh in Adelaide on the final afternoon of the Super 12 stage. The tournament will begin with a six-day group stage -- First Round -- to determine the final four teams to qualify for the Super 12. Sri Lanka and Namibia will be joined by two further qualifiers in Group A, with West Indies and Scotland drawn together alongside two additional teams from the Global Qualifier in Group B. The First Round will consist of daily double-headers, held on alternate days at Hobart's Bellerive Oval and Geelong's Kardinia Park, with all Group A matches at the latter venue and all Group B matches held in the Tasmanian city. All fixtures will be held between October 16 and 21. The winner of Group A and runner-up of Group B will join Group 1 in the Super 12 stage, with Group B's winners and the second-placed team in Group A heading into Group 2. The SCG will host the first semifinal on November 9, with the second semifinal to be held the following day at the Adelaide Oval. The final is scheduled for to be played at the MCG in front of a capacity 100,024 crowd. The event will be held at seven venues. Kardinia Park in Geelong will host six matches, exclusively in the opening week's First Round, while Bellerive Oval in Hobart will host nine games in total, six in the first round and three further matches during the opening three days of the Super 12 stage. The visitation from India is currently dominated by the middle-aged affluent segment, however, Anderson is hopeful that the next wave of growth will definitely come from the millennials and Gen Z, for whom travel will be a way of life. Tourism Australia aims to make its upcoming sporting event the largest sporting spectacle in the world – in line with ICC’s vision – to create a world record for the highest attendance at a women’s sporting fixture at the finals of the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup. The event will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with a capacity of 1,00,024 spectators. The previous world record was set in 1999 during the FIFA women’s soccer final in California with 90,185 attendees. Given the demand anticipated for the World Cups, the ICC has appointed five Official Ticketing Agents and two sub-agents, including Bharata Army, Gainwell Sports, Fanatic Sports, Sports Konnect, Cutting Edge, PickYourTrail, and Medallin Sports, to sell cricket packages in India. The Department of Home Affairs has also introduced online visa lodgement for travellers from India to ease the hassle. Marketing Plan To attract more tourists from India during ICC Cricket World Cups, Tourism Australia has also released a 360-degree campaign. Conceptualised by Scarecrow M&amp;C Saatchi, the core idea of the campaign is to draw synergies between India’s most loved sport and signature Australian experiences that define the legendary ‘Australian way of life’, which includes food and drink, nature and wildlife, and aquatic and coastal experiences. The ICC T20 World Cup campaign will run across three stages - Awareness, Consideration and Booking. In addition to the digital assets and television commercial that has been developed, the campaign will also leverage multiple online mediums to amplify their messaging. A mix of search, display, video, social, native, programmatic and content will be a part of the digital campaign. Content partnerships with broadcast and Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms will also be leveraged as part of the campaign to showcase the tourism experiences through the eyes of renowned cricketing legends from both countries. The campaign will be further amplified during the Australia tour of India in 2020 and the Australian Open 2020, as well as through public relations and international media hosting programs that will see influencers from different fields have a first-hand experience of the game and beyond. He could also be representing the North Zone in the selection panel. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising former India cricketers Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjape and <keyword id="115989" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sulakshana-naik" source="Orion">Sulakshana Naik</keyword> is conducting the interview process for picking up a new selection committee at the headquarters of the board in Mumbai. A few people have already been shortlisted and a final announcement will be made soon. Earlier in November, BCCI called for applicants for the new selection committee after India's performance in the ICC T20 World Cup held in Australia, which saw Men in Blue crash out of the semifinals after a ten-wicket loss to England in the semifinal. Last year, India also faced a disappointing final four-stage exit from the Asia Cup in August-September and had also lost the ODI series to Bangladesh in December by 2-1. A release by cricket's apex governing body in the country mentioned the criteria for those who wish to apply for the positions. "Should have played a minimum of 7 Test matches or 30 First Class matches, or 10 ODI and 20 First Class matches," a BCCI release said. "Should have retired from the game at least 5 years ago and no person who has been a member of any Cricket Committee (as defined in the rules and regulations of BCCI) for a total of 5 years shall be eligible to be a member of the Men's Selection Committee," the release added. BCCI on Sunday convened the review meeting of Team India in Mumbai to review performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 where the team badly lost in the semi-final match to England by 10 wickets. The board has shortlisted 20 players for the ICC World Cup 2023 in October to be held in India. The ICC T20 World Cup will be played in the West Indies and the USA from June 1 to 29. Men in Blue will also play Bangladesh in their only warm-up game on June 1 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
