While the company earns a large portion of revenue from exporting, the whole anti China product sentiment has proved to be a boon for the company. In an interview with Business Insider ahead of the IPO, Mahesh Tanna, chief financial officer (CFO) at Tatva Chintan Pharma Chem shared that pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates and other specialty chemicals (PASC) segment is getting almost 30% of revenues from countries that have been looking for alternatives other than Chinese products. This particular PASC category includes specialty chemicals which are used as intermediates, disinfectants, catalysts and solvents. “China Plus one policy is what is actually the reason why we have this whole segment of pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates and other specialty chemicals (PASC)... our existing customers are largely pharmaceutical and agrochemical companies who are heavily dependent upon supplies from China. Post this environmental issue that happened in China and China Plus One policy, we were given this opportunity if interested we can look into developing pharma and agrochemical intermediates what they were looking for...Today, this PASC segment is contributing almost 25-30% of our revenues. This segment did not exist before 2006,” said Tanna. China Plus One is the business strategy to avoid investing only in China and diversify business into other countries. Tatva Chintan Pharma Chem receives 70% of the revenue from exports to over 25 countries including the USA, China, Germany, Japan, South Africa, and the UK, whereas the rest 30% comes from domestic markets. PASC segment delivered 30.37% revenue in FY21, 29.06% in FY20 and 42.39% in FY19. Sales in exports were definitely impacted from April to September 2020 primarily because of logistics. However, from October end everything came back to normalcy, said Tanna. Commenting on the impact of another complete lockdown, Tanna said in the second lockdown there was zero impact on industrial activities. So, if any lockdown happens pertaining to COVID-19 probably in 2021, it should not create any problem for them. He showed optimism about the chemical sector overall and believes the growth trend will continue like the last three years. The IPO will include ₹225 crore of fresh equity shares by the company and ₹275 crore of offer for sale (OFS) by promoters and shareholders. The company will utilise the proceeds from the IPO towards expansion of its Dahej manufacturing unit and for upgradation of research and development (R&amp;D) facility in Vadodara. In an interview with Business Insider ahead of the IPO, Mahesh Tanna, chief financial officer (CFO) at Tatva Chintan Pharma Chem highlighted that pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates and other specialty chemicals (PASC) segment is getting almost 30% of revenues from countries that have been looking for alternatives other than Chinese products. The PASC category includes specialty chemicals which are used as intermediates, disinfectants, catalysts and solvents. Many countries have started following China Plus One policy, which is the business strategy to avoid investing only in China and diversify business into other countries. “India’s specialty chemical companies are gaining favour with global multinationals because of the geopolitical shift after the outbreak of covid-19 as the world looks to reduce dependence on China. Currently, China accounts for approximately 15-17% of the world’s exportable specialty chemicals, whereas India accounts for just 1-2%, indicating that the country has a large scope of improvement and widespread opportunity. It is anticipated that specialty chemicals will be the next great export pillar for India,” said Sharekhan in a report. The overall global specialty chemical market stood at approximately $800 billion in 2019, and is expected to grow by 5-6% in the next five years, added the report. Analysts at Reliance Securities believe the company has a robust earnings growth potential in the long-run led by strong market share, capacity expansion and long-standing relationship with the key customers. “Moreover, the high valuations of the company’s issue price are justified given the high growth potential, dominant player, exposure to green energy, and strong balance sheet,” said a research report by Ventura Securities. New Delhi, Apr 28 () Outstanding loans amounting to Rs 68,607 crore of top 50 wilful bank loan defaulters in the country including firms of Mehul Choksi and Vijay Mallya have been technically written off till September 30, 2019, the Reserve Bank of India said in a RTI reply.Absconding dimantaire Choksi's company Gitanjali Gems tops the list of these defaulters with a whopping amount of Rs 5,492 crore, according to the list.This is followed by REI Agro with Rs 4,314 crore and Winsome Diamonds with Rs 4,076 crore.Rotomac Global Private Limited has funded advances of Rs 2,850 crore which have been technically written off and Kudos Chemie Ltd with Rs 2,326 crore, Ruchi Soya Industries Limited, now owned by Ramdev's Patanjali, with Rs 2,212 crore and Zoom Developers Pvt Ltd with Rs 2,012 crore being the other companies.Mallya's Kingfisher Airlines figures in the list at number 9, with outstanding of Rs 1943 crore which have been technically written off by the banks.Forever Precious Jewellery and Diamonds Private Limited has loans of Rs 1,962 crore written off while Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited have Rs 1915 crore written off loans.Choksi's other firms Gili India and Nakshatra Brands also have loans of Rs 1,447 and Rs 1109 crore respectively written off.REI Agro of Jhunjhunwala brothers is already under the scanner of ED. The CBI and ED are also probing alleged fraud by the owners of Winsome Diamonds.Vikram Kothari's Rotomac is the fourth in the list. He and his son Rahul Kothari were arrested by the CBI for bank loan default. In the last Parliament session, Rahul Gandhi had asked the government to provide a list of top 50 bank loans defaulters in the country, leading to sharp exchanges and uproar in the Lok Sabha."The information on top 50 wilful defaulters and their sum of funded amount outstanding and amount technically/prudentially written off as on September 30, 2019 reported in CRILC by banks, is provided," the RBI said in its written response dated April 24.In his application, RTI activist Saket Gokhale had sought the list of defaulters as on February 16, but the RBI said the requested information is not available.The RBI said that according to section 8 (1)(a) of RTI Act 2005 read with para 77 of Supreme Court judgement of December 16, 2015 in Jayantilal N Mistry case, information on overseas borrowers is exempted from public disclosure."Data is as reported by banks and RBI will not be held responsibly or accountable for any misreporting and/or incorrect reporting by the reporting entities," the RBI said in the written reply to the RTI query.
