It would likely be very similar to Israel's Tzeva Adom radar system, the spokesperson told BI.<h2>Israel's 'Code Red'</h2>Tzeva Adom, meaning "Code Red" in Hebrew, is an early-warning radar system.Originally installed by Israel Defense Forces in the towns surrounding the Gaza Strip in the late 1990s, the system now covers the whole of Israel.Upon detecting a rocket launch signature, the public broadcast warning system in nearby Israeli communities and military bases is automatically triggered.A prerecorded female voice announces "Tzeva Adom" four times.This broadcast cycle continues until no further launches are detected.The alerts have also been available via an app on iOS and Android devices since 2014.Israel is one of the world leaders in early-warning detection systems.Using the system in Ukraine will likely mean that Israel will need to send specialist soldiers to help Ukrainians integrate it. The Israeli spokesperson was unable to confirm when this would take place but said the system, and those like it, should give Ukrainians more time to move to secure facilities, such as civilian bunkers, which have already become commonplace in Ukraine.<h2>A blow to Israel-Russia relations</h2>For the past two years, Israel has walked a diplomatic tight-rope in the Russia-Ukraine war.During the initial invasion, Israel offered "more than 100 metric tons of humanitarian equipment," as Erdan said in his UN speech.A field hospital within Ukraine's border "treated over 7000 injured," and "hundreds of Ukrainian patients received the best possible care" in hospitals and rehabilitation centers across Israel.But Israel has consistently stopped short of sending military aid or joining Western sanctions in part because it didn't want to provoke Russia.<div type="image" title="Hamas" height="683" width="1024" msid="108164074" hostid="261"></div>Russia has long been a backer of Iran, Hezbollah, and President Bashir al-Assad in Syria. "On the one hand. the US is calling for restraint, but on the other. they are not effectively stopping Netanyahu, and he believes that he is winning this war." <h2>Ignoring red lines</h2>The US is by far the biggest supplier of arms to Israel. According to the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.cfr.org/article/us-aid-israel-four-charts">Council on Foreign Relations</a>, since the start of Israel's war with Hamas on October 7, 2023, the US has put in place legislation providing at least $12.5 billion in military aid to Israel. Overall, since 2009, it has provided Israel with $3.4 billion in funding for missile defense, including $1.3 billion in the development of Israel's Iron Dome system, according to figures from the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.state.gov/u-s-security-cooperation-with-israel/">Bureau of Political-Military Affairs.</a> It's a big trading partner outside of arms, too. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Internet satellite networks re-entering the atmosphere en masse could damage the ozone layer, a study warns.</li><li>Elon Musk's Starlink is by far the biggest player in this field.</li></ul>Internet satellite networks like Elon Musk's Starlink could contribute toward the depletion of the ozone layer, a new study claims.Scientists at the University of Southern California's Department of Astronautical Engineering warned that the massive increase in low-earth orbit internet satellites could lead to damaging chemical reactions in the atmosphere.There are currently more than 8,000 internet satellites in low-earth orbit, of which about 6,000 are Starlink ones, <a target="_blank" href="https://news.agu.org/press-release/satellite-megaconstellations-burn-deplete-ozone/">a press statement said</a>.All are made with large amounts of aluminum and designed with a short, roughly five-year lifespan, it added.The problem comes when the satellites fall into Earth's atmosphere to burn up, producing aluminum oxide, the scientists said, triggering a chemical reaction that's highly destructive to the ozone.The study, published last week in the peer-reviewed <a target="_blank" href="https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2024GL109280">Geophysical Research Letters journal</a>, found that the presence of the oxides increased roughly eightfold between 2016 and 2022 — and could surge far more with current satellite launch plans.SpaceX has plans to launch <a target="_blank" href="https://spacenews.com/spacex-submits-paperwork-for-30000-more-starlink-satellites/">another 42,000</a> Starlink satellites, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.space.com/spacex-starlink-satellites.html">according to Space.com</a>. Regulator for <keyword id="100080" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="housing-finance" source="Orion">housing finance</keyword> firms <keyword id="141003" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nhb" source="Orion">NHB</keyword> has asked housing finance companies with asset size of over Rs 1,000 crore to adopt an early warning signals (EWS) framework to check financial frauds and also to prevent accounts from turning into non-performing assets. <keyword id="152130" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="national-housing-bank" source="Orion">National Housing Bank</keyword> (NHB), in a recent circular, said analysis of the frauds reported by the housing finance companies (HFCs) has revealed that the reasons behind accounts being identified as fraud accounts are seller impersonation, submission of fake income/ employment documents, submission of fake title deeds, a collusion of the builder and borrower. It has also been observed that such deficiencies are identified only when the borrower stops paying the EMIs after the disbursement of the loans, NHB said. "It has been therefore decided that an Early Warning Signals (EWS) Framework should be adopted by the HFCs so that an alert is triggered before the account turns into non-performing asset (NPA) or declared as a fraud account," it said. NHB circular further said that tracking of the EWS must be integrated with the credit monitoring process in the systems of the HFCs so that it becomes a continuous activity. Through the EWS framework, HFCs will be encouraged to take into account fraud risks in their risk management practices. NHB has asked the housing finance companies to place the circular before their boards for information and to devise an implementation strategy. "The mechanism needs to be put in place by April 1, 2024," it said. The NHB has provided an indicative list of EWS for individual borrowers (retail). This includes 'disbursement of loan done without meeting all pre-disbursement conditions', 'occupation of the borrower has changed', 'adverse developments in the sector in which the borrower is employed', and 'company is unable to contact the borrower during credit monitoring'. The regulator has also suggested an indicative list of EWS for corporate and project loans.
