The bank started as housing finance company in 1977, before commencing operations as a scheduled commercial bank in 1995 as part of the RBI’s drive to liberalise India’s banking sector. In the last one year, HDFC Bank’s shares have risen by 19%. HDFC just became the third Indian company after Reliance and TCS to achieve a market  value of more than ₹6 trillion

New Delhi, Apr 15 () Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has surpassed HDFC to become the country's fifth most valued firm in terms of market valuation. At close of trade on Wednesday, Bharti Airtel's market capitalisation (m-cap) stood at Rs 2,78,206.15 crore, Rs 1,987.86 crore more than that of HDFC's valuation of Rs 2,76,218.29 crore on the BSE. Shares of Bharti Airtel had gained in the last two trades, but closed on a marginally lower note on Wednesday, down 0.35 per cent at Rs 509.95. Mortgage lender HDFC's shares fell 3.61 per cent to close at Rs 1,594.75. RIL is the country's most valued firm with a valuation of Rs 7,29,050.55 crore, followed by TCS (Rs 6,50,832.37 crore), HUL (Rs 5,38,992.08 crore), HDFC Bank (Rs 4,73,454.37 crore) and Bharti Airtel. Bharti Airtel surpasses HDFC to become fifth most valued firm by m-cap  

New Delhi, Dec 15 () Six of the 10 most valued Indian companies together added Rs 65,060.30 crore in market valuation last week, with RIL and HDFC emerging as the biggest gainers.
 HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and SBI were the other winners in the top-10 list, while TCS, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), Infosys and ITC suffered losses in their market capitalisation (m-cap) for the week ended Friday.
 The market cap of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the country's most valued firm, jumped Rs 17,439.74 crore to Rs 10,03,147.26 crore.
 HDFC's valuation zoomed Rs 15,435.51 crore to Rs 4,06,705.23 crore and that of SBI climbed Rs 11,512.75 crore to reach Rs 2,96,921.83 crore.
 The m-cap of HDFC Bank zoomed Rs 9,089.48 crore to Rs 6,91,457.21 crore and that of ICICI Bank advanced Rs 8,210.91 crore to Rs 3,47,551.97 crore.
 Kotak Mahindra Bank's valuation rose by Rs 3,371.91 crore to Rs 3,23,236.17 crore.
 In contrast, the valuation of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) dropped Rs 19,231 crore to Rs 7,77,381.54 crore.
 The m-cap of HUL plunged Rs 4,372.92 crore to Rs 4,34,109.76 crore and that of ITC fell Rs 2,027.73 crore to Rs 2,96,971.03 crore.
 Infosys also witnessed a decline of Rs 1,660.8 crore in its m-cap to stand at Rs 3,02,882.73 crore.
 In the list of top-10 firms, RIL retained its number one spot, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, HUL, HDFC, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys, ITC and SBI.

New Delhi, Apr 19 () Six of the 10 most valued domestic companies together added Rs 53,702.27 crore in market valuation last week, with ICICI Bank and TCS emerging as the biggest gainers. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), HUL, Bharti Airtel and ITC were the other gainers from the top-10 list, while HDFC Bank, HDFC, Infosys and Kotak Mahindra Bank witnessed erosion from their market capitalisation (m-cap) for the week ended Friday. ICICI Bank's valuation jumped Rs 21,561.16 crore to Rs 2,43,350.46 crore. The market cap of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) advanced Rs 15,347.25 crore to Rs 6,77,980.87 crore and that of Bharti Airtel zoomed Rs 7,201.34 crore to Rs 2,74,005.37 crore. RIL's valuation rose by Rs 3,711.77 crore to Rs 7,76,595.26 crore and that of ITC gained Rs 3,380.36 crore to reach Rs 2,31,216.87 crore. Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) added Rs 2,500.39 crore to its m-cap to stand at Rs 5,16,196.27 crore. It is noteworthy that among all the lenders, HDFC is the largest credit card seller in the country. “RBI has issued an order dated December 2, to HDFC Bank Ltd with regard to certain incidents of outages in the internet banking/ mobile banking/ payment utilities of the bank over the past two years, including the recent outages in the bank’s internet banking and payment system on November 21, 2020, due to a power failure in the primary data centre,” the bank said in a regulatory filing. According to the bank the <a href="https://www.bseindia.com/xml-data/corpfiling/AttachLive/893abfb4-95cb-4942-a555-312aef465ef4.pdf">RBI order</a> “has advised the bank to temporarily stop all launches of the digital business-generating activities planned under its program Digital 2.0 and other proposed business generating IT applications and sourcing of new credit card customers”. In addition, the order has directed the bank board to examine the lapses and fixes accountability. The lender said the above measures should be considered for lifting upon satisfactory compliance with the major critical observations as identified by the RBI. HDFC Bank said “over the last two years, it has taken several measures to fortify its IT systems and will continue to work swiftly to close out the balance and would continue to engage with the regulator in this regard. “The bank has been taking conscious, concrete steps to remedy the recent outages on its digital banking channels and assures its customers that it expects the current supervisory actions will have no impact on its existing credit cards, digital banking channels and existing operations. The bank believes that these measures will not materially impact its overall business,” it added. HDFC Bank has lost over $2 billion in market value after the RBI crackdown on the lender’s digital business

New Delhi, Mar 22 () Eight of the top-10 most-valued Indian companies witnessed a combined erosion of Rs 3,63,884.03 crore in market valuation last week, with HDFC Bank taking the biggest hit. During the last week, the Sensex plummeted 4,187.52 points or 12.27 per cent as markets were hit hard due to concerns over the impact of coronavirus on the economy. Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and ITC were the only two companies from the top-10 list to have witnessed gain in their market capitalisation for the trading week closed on Friday. HDFC Bank's valuation tumbled Rs 1,03,470.28 crore to Rs 4,83,720.15 crore. The market cap of ICICI Bank plummeted Rs 65,853.55 crore to Rs 2,23,753.14 crore. Valuation of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) eroded by Rs 54,961.45 crore to Rs 6,46,732.07 crore and that of HDFC dropped by Rs 54,479.15 crore to Rs 3,03,722.13 crore. The market cap of Kotak Mahindra Bank tumbled Rs 39,626.31 crore to Rs 2,41,611.45 crore and that of Infosys tanked Rs 24,382.12 crore to Rs 2,49,123.50 crore. New Delhi, Jun 3 () Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), promoter of HDFC Life, on Wednesday sold 2.6 crore shares of the insurance company worth a little over Rs 1,274 crore through an open market transaction. According to bulk deal data available with the BSE, a total of 2,60,00,000 shares of HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd were sold by its promoter HDFC, the data showed. The shares were offloaded on an average price of Rs 490.22 apiece, valuing the transaction at Rs 1,274.57 crore, the data added. However, the buyers of the shares could not be ascertained immediately. At the end of the March 2020 quarter, HDFC held 51.44 per cent stake in HDFC Life. Shares of HDFC Life closed at Rs 501.40 apiece on the BSE, up 0.37 per cent from the previous close, while that of HDFC ended the trade at Rs 1,836.25, a rise of 1.18 per cent from the previous close. New Delhi, Mar 15 () The 10 most valued domestic companies lost a massive Rs 4,22,393.44 crore in market capitalisation last week, with heavyweights TCS and RIL taking the biggest hit. In a nerve-wracking week for the markets, the BSE Sensex plummeted 3,473.14 points or 9.24 per cent, largely in tandem with global equities which were hammered by panic selling amid the coronavirus pandemic. The market capitalisation (m-cap) of TCS dropped by Rs 1,16,549.07 crore to reach Rs 6,78,168.49 crore for the week ended Friday. Reliance Industries' m-cap plummeted Rs 1,03,425.15 crore to Rs 7,01,693.52 crore. Infosys was another major drag, with its valuation plunging Rs 41,315.98 crore to Rs 2,73,505.62 crore. HDFC Bank's m-cap tanked Rs 34,919.51 crore to reach Rs 5,87,190.43 crore and that of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) tumbled Rs 33,208.35 crore to Rs 4,40,151.42 crore.
