Some of these apps include AgriMarket which lets farmers get the market price of crops within 50KM of their current location. The Bhuvan Hailstorm app lets agriculture officers catalogue crop loss due to hailstorms. The Kisan Suvidha app lets farmers access weather information, dealer details, market prices, advisories and more. Other apps currently offered by the government include <keyword id="3294108" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pusa-krishi" source="Orion">Pusa Krishi</keyword>, MKisan, <keyword id="13490889" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="shetkari-masik" source="Orion">Shetkari Masik</keyword>, Farm-o-pedia, among others. “The compilation of different apps under a super app at one place will help the farmers in choosing from a bouquet of services as per their requirements. The focus will be to aggregate these apps to further ease the process of searching a relevant app,” the ET report stated, quoting an unnamed ministry official. Combining all the services under a single umbrella would make it easier for farmers to access the relevant information with a single click. Apart from this, the new super app for farmers will also include access to research and development, information about new technologies in farming, harvesting, and more. It is not clear when the government will launch the new super app, but we should know more in the coming weeks. 4 Apps To Help Agriculture In the Country

New Delhi, Feb 24 () On the first anniversary of launch of the government's ambitious PM-Kisan scheme, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday launched a mobile app to broaden the reach of the programme that aims to provide annually Rs 6,000 to each eligible farmer. The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) was launched on February 24, 2019 in Uttar Pradesh and all states are implementing the scheme, except for West Bengal. So far, 9.74 crore farmers are registered under the scheme against the target of 14 crore farmers. Of which, the payment has been made to 8.45 crore farmers so far after the data has been verified by the state governments, as per the official data. Launching the mobile app, the Minister said this has been developed to broaden the reach of the scheme, which is playing an important role in achieving the target of doubling farmers income by 2022. Using the mobile app, farmers can know the payment status, correct name as per Aadhaar, know registration status and scheme eligibility besides helpline numbers and self registration features, he said. The mobile app has been developed and designed by the National Informatics Centre, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Already, a portal on PM-Kisan is in place for registration under the scheme. It provided end-to-end technology solution for transferring the benefits directly into the accounts of registered farmers. There is a farmers' corner on the portal where they can themselves or with the help of common service centres can file their request online and check the status of their application or make correction in name as per Aadhaar etc. LUX DRR

Govt launches mobile app to broaden reach of PM-Kisan

New Delhi, Apr 17 () As the harvesting of rabi crops like wheat pick up, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday launched the 'Krishi Rath' mobile app to facilitate farmers hire trucks for hassle-free transportation of agri-produce to mandis during the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown. After downloading the Krishi Rath mobile app, farmers are required to post the quantity of agri-produce they wish to transport. They will get the availability of truck and price quote against the load request from the transport aggregators. After confirmation, farmers will get transporters details on the app and can negotiate with transporters and finalise the deal for transportation of the produce to mandi. Stating that the new mobile app aims to resolve farm to mandi transportation problems, the agriculture ministry in a statement said the load posted by farmers will be visible to both traders and transporters. The traders will get to know the farm produce for sale in their areas and they can consolidate the load posted from various farmers and arrange a truck to pick-up all such produce from the farms, it said. Over 5.7 lakh trucks from five aggregators are listed on the app and more are expected to join, the agriculture ministry said. Currently, Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs) offer tractors for transportation of Agri produce to the farmers in the vicinity at an optimised cost. There are over 14,000 CHC having more than 20,000 tractors. The new system is expected to be a win-win situation for farmers, transporters and aggregators and the government. This will benefit farmers as they will get timely service, competitive prices, rating of transporters, reduction in food wastage and better price for perishable commodities. Transporters will benefit from higher fleet utilisation, while transport aggregators will have an enhanced market, thus helping the government create linkage to organised transport channels.The government has exempted many of the agricultural activities including inter-state movement of farm produce from the lockdown rule, imposed to prevent the spread of deadline COVID-19 disease. But the heart of the company's operations lives far outside the city center, on farms in Brazil, the United States, and a variety of other countries.The five year-old startup is trying to create what founder Danilo Leao calls "the internet of cows." Leao began taking care of his family's land at age 15, manually tracking animals with a spreadsheet and ear tags. Bovcontrol makes that process easier, speeding up meat and dairy production for farmers. The company hopes that the app's efficiency will help ameliorate global hunger.To use BovControl, farmers first input a cow's basic data in an app, including birth date, medication, vaccinations, and weight. If the farmer happens to be offline, the information is saved until they re-enter cell service and the data can be uploaded to the cloud.Farmers can use any technology they have for logging cow data - from a basic ear tag to a Bluetooth-equipped smart collar that can collect data like temperature and location. Eventually the app takes over, crunching the data and using artificial intelligence to make predictions about the cows. If a farmer notes that a cow is pregnant, for example, the app can predict the date of birth, providing push notifications as it gets closer. If the app notices that a cow isn't producing as much milk as it should, it can signal to the farmer that it should consider removing the animal from operation.The more sophisticated the farmer's tools, the more powerful BovControl is. If a farmer has a Bluetooth-connected weight scale, for example, the device can sync to the app, making it easy to see when a cow is ready for slaughter (based on its weight). BovControl is used on thousands of farms across the world, but it first launched in Brazil, a country where there are more cows than people. During a visit to BovControl's Brazil headquarters in 2015, Leao Skyped me in to a demo of the app on a farm in Rio Grande, a municipality in the southern part of the country. <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image">BovControl</div></div></div>Bruno, a farmer on an 830-cow farm who had been using the app for a few months at the time I spoke with him, said it changed the way he does his job. "I used pen and paper before. I do a lot of vaccinations, and the app gives me tools to collect that data and keep track of expiration dates," he says. "When a cow gives birth, I can capture the animal's growth and figure out when I should sell it."At Bruno's scale, the app costs 15 cents per animal per month. Most of the farms that use BovControl are small to medium sized; bigger farms often have strict processes in place, so it's harder for them to add a new system into the mix.BovControl's user base is growing 3% to 5% each week, but the company has encountered roadblocks along the way. When I visited the headquarters, Leao told me it was hard to find qualified Brazilian candidates to work at BovControl. That's because, in a country that has long been plagued by economic uncertainty, most people crave the security of working at a large company. In the US, Leao says he has gotten offers from Harvard and MIT graduates to help out for free. In Brazil, he offers a lot of stock options to sweeten the deal. When I met with Leao, the company had 10 employees. Today, it's up to 16. In addition to selling to farmers, BovControl also recently inked a deal with Aliança da Terra, a nonprofit in Latin America that certifies sustainable farms. New Delhi, Feb 24 () The Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday asked the West Bengal government to join the ambitious central scheme, PM-Kisan, which completed one year of operation without the state on board. Barring West Bengal, all other states and union territories are implementing the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) which has benefited 8.45 crore farmers so far in the country, against the target of 14 crore farmers. The minister also launched PM-Kisan mobile App on completion of one year of the implementation of the scheme. Tomar said: "West Bengal has not yet joined the scheme. There are 70 lakh farmers in the state. Benefits worth about Rs 4,000 crore will reach to these farmers if implemented." Of the 70 lakh farmers from the state, about 10 lakh farmers have already self-registered for the scheme via the online portal of PM-Kisan, he said and added the cash benefit to these farmers will reach once the state government verifies the data. Stating that the cash benefit under the scheme will not only help farmers but also boost the state economy, Tomar said: "Our officials have approached the state government in this regard many times. I have also written twice to the chief minister urging to join the scheme. But no reply has come yet from the CM." Tomar said some states like Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Sikkim are slow in authenticating their farmers' data and the central government is pursuing with them seriously. The aim is to achieve the target of 14 crore farmers by next year. On PM-Kisan portal, the centre has received data of total 9.74 crore farmers. Already, payment has been made to 8.45 crore farmers, he said. About 85 per cent of the farmers data registered under the scheme has been Aadhar verified, the rest will be completed soon, he added. New Delhi, June 23 (IANS) Three Indian developers have joined top 10 winners of Google Android Developer Challenge that encourages developers around the world to build apps using machine learning. The three apps developed by Indians are AgroDoc, Leepi and UnoDogs. Developed by Navneet Krishna from Kochi, AgroDoc helps farmers diagnose plant disease and make treatment plans. Leepi, developed by Prince Patel from Bengaluru, helps students learn hand gestures and symbols for American Sign Language. UnoDogs which helps owners better support their pet's wellness, providing customized information and fitness programmes has been deve;loped by Chinmany Mishra from New Delhi. The machine learning technology "is becoming more accessible to the developers who build the apps you use every day," said Jacob Lehrbaum Director of Developer Relations, Android. To encourage more developers around the world to build apps using machine learning, Google launched the Android Developer Challenge last year. "And after months of hard work, today the 10 winners of the Android Developer Challenge are launching their apps ready for you to try out," Lehrbaum said in a statement. One app called AgriFarm helps farmers detect plant diseases and prevent major damage in fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, corn and potatoes which has been developed in Balochisan. Using a network of cameras and sensors, it immediately detects invaders and knows when crops are sick. It then alerts and tells farmers exactly why through an app."The entire agriculture industry itself is due for an evolution," Prospera CEO Daniel Koppel tells Tech Insider. "Farmers who are accustomed to making decisions based on instinct will be able to look to data, and deliver the freshest produce to the grocery store every harvest." The sensors collect hundreds of thousands of data points about plants' health. New Delhi, Feb 24 () Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 29 will celebrate one year of implementation of the government's ambitious PM-Kisan scheme in Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Monday. Just before the general elections, Modi had launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) on February 24, 2019 in Gorakhpur. Under the scheme, the central government aims to provide Rs 6,000 per year in three equal instalments to 14 crore farmers. At present, all states except West Bengal are implementing the scheme. So far, 9.74 crore farmers are registered under the scheme, of which 8.45 crore farmers have received the payment so far after the data verification by state governments, according to the official data. "The one year completion of the implementation of the PM-Kisan will be celebrated at Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh on February 29. The Prime Minister on the occasion will distribute Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to the beneficiaries of the PM-Kisan," Tomar said at the launch of a mobile app on PM-Kisan. Banks at district level will distribute the credit cards to PM-Kisan beneficiaries on that day, he said, adding that farmers can avail short term loan using these cards. The Prime Minister will also unveil setting up of 10,000 farmers producers companies (FPOs) announced in the budget. The Centre will provide fund of Rs 15 lakh to each FPO, he added. The minister said the government has taken several steps for achieving the target of doubling farmers income by 2022.
