New Delhi, Jan 28 () Consumer electronics maker Panasonic India has ventured into education sector by launching two education-based solutions CareerEx and XcelIT, and aims to impact around one lakh students by 2025.
Both the solutions are designed and developed at Panasonic's India Innovation Centre (IIC) for the students, colleges and universities to bridge the existing skill gap between current education and employment needs for the future, the firm said in a statement.
CareerEx has been designed to address the needs of college and university students to advance their skillset with emerging technologies such as Data Science, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning/AI and Internet of Things.
XcelIT is designed for school students primarily residing in Tier II &amp; III cities to make them ready for all competitive exams.
"Through the launch of CareerEx and XcelIT, we hope to develop another innovative Edu-tech solution to upskill technology talent pool to address the unemployment rate amongst urban youth and at the same time cater to the demands of industry. We are looking to positively impact nearly 1,00,000 students over next 5 years," Panasonic India Innovation Centre Head Atsushi Motoya said.
CareerEx and XcelIT are available on both Android and iOS application stores.
Panasonic has also collaborated with specialised educational partners for this programme.

An average school spends about $200,000 on paper annually - adding up to about 10% of most schools' budget - but reusable tech would completely eliminate that cost.As more schools adopt this technology, expect to see more "smart schools" pop up throughout the U.S. until they are the standard for American education.<h2>Internet and Higher Education</h2>The IoT can begin disrupting the education process as early as kindergarten and can continue to do so through 12th grade, but perhaps the most profound effects occur in higher education.Students, particularly in college, are increasingly moving away from paper books toward tablets and laptops. With all of the necessary information at their fingertips, students can now learn at their own pace and have a nearly identical educational experience in their homes and in the classroom. And while this trend provides increased convenience for students, it also makes the teaching process more efficient for professors. IPEVO has also manufactured a wireless interactive whiteboard - serving as a potential alternative to the SMART board. EdTech companies and startups are also developing services and applications to be used in the classroom. Applications of Internet of Things technology in the education sector

<keyword id="47831" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="school-education">School education</keyword> is likely to be the focus of <keyword id="6599769" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Budget-2017">Budget 2017</keyword>, where allocation for the <keyword id="6361862" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="education-sector">education sector</keyword> is expected to rise by 10-12% this year, almost double of what it was last year. 
 
It is being speculated that a major part of the increased allocation will be for improving education quality and outcome in schools. 
 
Here's what you can expect for educations sector in the upcoming Budget 2017: 
 
 - Setting up of Global Research Interactive Network 
 
This is for bringing foreign academic talent to the country and $3 billion dollar will be leveraged for investing in upgradation of the research infrastructure in the country to help spawn world-class universities. 
 
- 20 world class universities 
Prakash Javadekar recently said the guidelines which will be declared in the government policy very soon. 
 
- Forming micro level Indian associations 
This is to facilitate government communication with Indian students studying in countries such as the United Kingdom and to build public and private partnerships with Ministry of External Affairs for Indian students abroad. 
 
- Diversion of central funds from flagship education schemes to new initiatives 
The ministry is also exploring whether it can reduce the central government allocation to flagship education schemes such as the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Mid-day Meal scheme while increasing it for new initiatives focused on quality improvement and assessment. While the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan or SSA (drive for the universalization of education) and the midday school meal scheme will continue to get sizable allocations, the Union budget is likely to emphasize the quality of outcome in schools. 
 
- Allocations to become performance-based 
Allocations or at least part of the allocations, may become performance-based (with academic outcomes being a measure of performance).

School education focus of Budget 2017: Here's everything that Modi govt may gift the Education Sector in the coming days

Mumbai, Apr 7 () India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) on Tuesday retained a stable outlook on the Indian education sector for 2020-21, driven by sustained rise in enrolments for higher studies. Although the nationwide lockdown will adversely impact the household income, especially of the ones at bottom of the pyramid and may lead to school dropouts, Ind-Ra believes the government's ongoing initiatives like the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, Samagra Shiksha and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme would support the sector. According to the report, the education market is likely to expand by 5-6 per cent in FY21, driven mainly by growing enrolments in higher education which increased by 2.07 per cent annually in FY19. Ind-Ra expects the market size of the education sector to touch Rs 6,48,300 crore in FY21. The budgetary allocation for mid-day meals in schools was increased by about 11 per cent year-on-year to Rs 11,000 crore in FY21. The budgetary allocation towards education also increased to Rs 99,311.5 crore in FY21, which will improve the infrastructure and quality of education, it added. The government initiatives towards the new education policy and emphasis on research-oriented higher educational institutions or universities are likely to improve the educational standards in the country. Also, the government initiatives towards increasing funding options for educational institutions through external commercial borrowings and foreign direct investments will positively impact the international positioning of the Indian education sector. Ind-Ra has also maintained a stable outlook on its rated educational institutions portfolio for FY21 on the expectation of a sustained increase in enrolments, a moderate increase in revenue and comfortable operating profitability. The educational institutes realise full-year fee either at the time of admissions or in 2-4 instalments, the lockdown is unlikely to have a major impact on their annual revenues, Ind-Ra said. However, since the school leaving examinations are not yet complete and the lockdown may delay the admission process, education institutes without a liquidity buffer may face a liquidity crunch in case of delayed admissions, it added. The report noted that COVID-19 may bring in a paradigm shift in the way professional courses are taught. Ind-Ra maintains stable outlook for education sector in FY21

"Education which does not help common mass of people to equip themselves is it worth of name?.." Finance Minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> quoted Swami Vivekanandav in the Parliament, before making some of the biggest Budget announcements India has received in education sector so far. 
 
While highlighting Modi government's "Transform, Energize and Clean India" mission for Budget 2017-18, the Finance Minister said,"Quality education will energize our youth." 
 
He proposed the introduction of a system of measuring annual learning. Emphasis, he said, will be given to science education in schools. 
 
To free CBSE and other agencies of administrative responsibilities, he announced a National Testing agency to conduct all examinations in higher education. 
 
Additionally, in a major push to Make In India, Jaitley announced 100 international skill centres across India to help youth who are seeking jobs overseas. 
 
3479 educationally backward blocks will be given focus. A Swayam platform will be launched with atleast 350 online courses and it will be made available through DTH.

- Legislative reforms to simplify existing labour laws

- Allocation raised from Rs 1.56 lakh cr to Rs 1.84 lakh cr for women and child welfare. 
- Hiked Allocation For Women Skill Development to Rs 1.84 lakh cr 
- Total allocation to women and children related schemes to rise from Rs 1.56 lakh crore to Rs 1.84 lakh crore 
 
Minorities - SC/ST 
- 35% increase in funds allocation for schedule castes to Rs 52,393 crore. 
- Allocation for minorities stepped up 4195 cr. 
- Outcome based monitoring by NITI Aayog introduced. 
 The Finance Minister said,"Providing quality education is very crucial to the children who are on their way to create India’s core working population in the next 10 years. This development in their formative years can help the country in the years to come. <keyword id="6599769" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Budget-2017">Budget 2017</keyword> is an opportunity for the government to concentrate on the improvement of school education for children who are enrolled in primary and secondary schools. The Centre’s commitment to education has always been high on intent but low in practice." 
 
The Budget 2016-17 allocated Rs 1,51,581 crore for social sector including education and health care. The then budget included 62 new Navodaya Vidyalayas to be opened, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to increasing focus on quality of education, regulatory architecture to be provided to ten public and ten private institutions to emerge as world-class Teaching and Research Institutions, set up of higher education financing agency with initial capital base of 1000 Crores and the digital depository for school leaving certificates, college degrees, academic awards &amp; mark sheets to be set-up.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley makes biggest announcements for Education Sector in India

While presenting Budget 2015, <keyword id="6391015" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Finance-Minister-Arun-Jaitley">Finance Minister Arun Jaitley</keyword> had emphasised more on <keyword id="6375224" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="higher-education">higher education</keyword> and skill development. 
 
The government had proposed to set aside Rs. 69,074.76 crore for the education sector, out of which there was an increase in the Higher Education Budget from Rs. 23,700 crore in 2014-15 to Rs. 26,855.26 crore in 2015-16. 
 However, allocation for School Education &amp; Literacy was marginally reduced to Rs. 42,219.5 crore. For <keyword id="2783177" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Budget-2016">Budget 2016</keyword>, experts are looking for more enhancing vocational education requirements. 
 
“Government’s schemes towards providing scholarships to meritorious, economically backward students should be strengthened in higher education. There is also a need to develop more vocational educational requirements of people who are not eligible for higher education,” said Prof. Rupamanjari Sinha Ray, Assistant Professor, MDI, Gurgaon. 
 
Meanwhile, the minister had also announced new IITs and AIIMS-like institutions. Experts say in Budget 2016, they should focus on funding existing institutions and create world-class tech-based classrooms. 
 
“Education is an important social sector and allocation of budget should be increased substantially. Instead of creating more IITs and IIMs in the country, government can strengthen by funding all the existing institutes in terms of quality resources and creating world class technology environment,” said Ray. 
 
For skill development, Jaitley had announced allocation of Rs. 1,543.46 crore to Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. 
 
In Budget 2016, experts want more regulation in the education sector and private sector investments in skilling programmes. 
 
“With the focus on Digital India and start-ups, it would be nice to see investments in education and skilling programs to prepare the next generation. There is urgent need to transform bodies such as AICTE that control inputs such as curriculum and infrastructure and replace them with a body that rates “learning outcomes”. We need to attract private capital into higher education and invite ethical companies to invest and earn reasonable returns and ensure high standards in education. In other words we need to remove all controls and replace them with enabling regulation,” said Anil Sachdev, Founder &amp; CEO of School of Inspired Leadership. 
 
It is yet to see how much allocation does Jaitley announces for education sector but there is a need to have more practical learning classrooms.

Experts pin hopes on more allocation for skilling programmes, tech-based learning in Budget 2016

New Delhi, Feb 1 () The Centre will soon announce a new education policy and the government has received over 2 lakh suggestions on it, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Saturday.
 Presenting the Budget for 2020-21, Sitharaman said Rs 99,300 crore has been allocated for the education sector and Rs 3,000 crore for skill development for the next fiscal.
Steps will be be taken to attract external commercial borrowing and FDI in the education sector, the finance minister said.
 She further said the government plans to start a programme for urban local bodies to provide opportunities for internship to young engineers.
 She also said National Police University and National Forensic University are being proposed, while planning to allow degree level full-fledged online education programme by institutions ranked in top 100.
 The government has also proposed to attach medical colleges with district hospitals on PPP model to deal with shortage of doctors, she added.
Special bridge courses will be designed for teachers, nurses, para medical staff, caregivers, she said.
 Allocation for Swachh Bharat for 2020-21 stands at Rs 12,300 crore, and the government is proposing Rs 3.6 lakh crore towards piped water supply to households. TEAM MBI RKL ANZ

Govt to bring new education policy; allocates Rs 99,300 cr for sector in FY21

As the anticipation regarding the spending on education is mounting before the presenting of 2019 budget, here is a look at spending on education over the recent past in the country. While allocating the estimated spending on education in 2018 budget, the Finance Minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> said education was a priority area for the country. The total funds allocated for education in this budget was Rs 85,010 crores. The budget allocation for education as per the 2018-19 budget was seen less 4% higher than the estimates found in the revised budget of the current year. In 2017-18 budget, Rs 79,685.95 crores was pegged as an outlay for spending on education which was later revised to Rs 81,868 crores. The economic survey presented last year stated that the government did not have enough fiscal space to increase its spending on social sectors which includes education. Talking in a theoretical point of view, we can say that the Union budget is focused mainly on two important areas of education namely integration and fiscal accountability. The finance Minister said in his budget speech, “We now propose to treat education holistically without segmentation from pre-nursery to Class XII.” This will mean that the Union Government is keen on implementing plans to integrate the whole gamut of the school education sector from pre-school to Class XII which implies that we can anticipate a number of mergers of school schemes in future too. The 2018 budget unveiled a new scheme called Revitalizing Infrastructure and Systems in Education or RISE. This scheme is being financed through the restructured higher education financing agency (HEFA). This is a non-banking financial company. It works with an objective of lending low-cost funds to government run higher educational institutions. In the fiscal year 2018, HEFA received a grant of Rs 250 crores during budget allocation. In fiscal year 2019, it is estimated that this lending body will be supported with an aid of Rs 2,750 crores through the budget awaited. Out of the total education outlay for the fiscal year 2019, the school education sector receive a major portion of Rs 50,000 crores. This is Rs 3,000 crores more than the previous revised budget. The remaining Rs 35,010 crores was allotted for the higher education sector. In the school sector, the SA received an allotment of Rs 26,128 crores, which was up from the Rs 23,500 crores in the budget that preceded it. In the same way, RMSA will receive Rs 4,213 crores which is up by Rs 300 crores when compared to the budget earlier to it. The Mid-day meal program received Rs 10,500 crores in the fiscal year 2019 which is an increase of Rs 500 crores from the earlier budget. In the higher education sector, the total budget allocation for IITs was reduced from Rs 8,244 crores to Rs 6,326 crores in 2018-19. The grants to IIMs as well as the University Grants Commission also faced a cut. Though there has been a push of digital education initiatives by the government, budget 2018 had cut the funds allotted for e-learning from 518 crores to Rs 456 crores in the fiscal year 2019. Aurobindo Saxena, vice-president of Technopak says, “Holistic approach of school sector is a good move...on HEFA it would be interesting to see how they want to raise the fund. The capacity of academic institutions to repay loans (taken from HEFA) over a 10-year time horizon will be closely watched."
