<ul class="summary-list"><li>My mom and I spent $50 dining at 50's Prime Time Café in <keyword id="71278" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="disney-world" source="Orion">Disney World</keyword>'s <a href="https://www.insider.com/interesting-things-about-disneys-hollywood-studios-fun-facts">Hollywood Studios</a>.</li><li>The restaurant looks like a kitschy 1950's kitchen where "mom" is cooking everyone's meal.</li></ul><p>I <a href="https://www.insider.com/favorite-things-to-do-at-disney-world-someone-with-annual-pass-2021">visit Disney World</a> all the time as an annual passholder, so I've <a href="https://www.insider.com/favorite-places-to-eat-disney-world-best-and-worst-restaurants-2022-5">dined at many of the restaurants</a> in the theme parks. </p><p>On a recent trip to Hollywood Studios, my mom and I ate at 50's Prime Time Café.</p><h2>The restaurant is themed to feel like a 1950s-style home</h2><div type="image" title="check-in area at 50s prime time cafe in disney world" height="3024" width="4032" msid="92683237" hostid="261" sizebytes="619130"></div><p>From the outside, <a href="https://www.insider.com/favorite-restaurants-at-disney-world-former-cast-member-2022-6">50's Prime Time Café</a> looks like a cool 1950s California home with pastel railings, lots of windows, and a bright-blue door.</p><p>There's an adorable sign out front that rotates and looks like an old-fashioned TV that lets diners know they're in the right place.</p><p>After checking in for my reservation through the My <keyword id="46161" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="disney" source="Orion">Disney</keyword> Experience app, I was greeted at the front door by an employee who introduced themself as "uncle" and took my mom and I to our table.</p><p>Everyone who works here has a backstory here, whether they're an aunt, uncle, or cousin, and everyone is one big family. </p><p>After passing the adorable kitchen setup at the front of the restaurant, I knew we were in for a good time. The entire restaurant is filled with kitschy decor, lots of vibrant patterns, and pastel everything.</p><h2>The dining room is actually broken up into multiple small rooms</h2><div type="image" title="moms kitchen area at 50s prime time cafe in disney world" height="3024" width="4032" msid="92683240" hostid="261" sizebytes="669516"></div><p>Unlike a traditional restaurant where there's just one large dining room, at 50's Prime Time, there are multiple small rooms with large walls breaking them up.</p><p>Each room has three to four tables that can seat small or large groups.</p><p>Because the restaurant is 1950s-themed, there are plenty of things to see, from antique cookie jars to oddly shaped Bundt pans. I made sure to take a quick gander at each room before leaving.</p><h2>Getting a prized TV table was a highlight</h2><div type="image" title="one of the tvs next to the tables at 50s prime time cafe in disney world" height="1462" width="828" msid="92683241" hostid="261" sizebytes="72792"></div><p>After making our way to our designated dining room, I was delighted when we were seated at one of the few tables with an old-school TV. These seats are highly coveted by <a href="https://www.insider.com/disney-parks-best-things-to-do-according-to-fans">Disney fans</a>, and typically cannot be requested, so getting one is a real treat. </p><p>The TVs show black-and-white clips of old shows and even a reel of Walt Disney's dedication speech at <a href="https://www.insider.com/hidden-secrets-behind-the-most-popular-rides-at-disney-2020-1">Disneyland</a>.</p><p>I really enjoyed being able to watch some of the shows my mom grew up with and hear her stories about her favorite episodes.</p><h2>The menu is filled with down-home classics, just like mom used to make.</h2><p>Everything on the menu is good old-fashioned comfort <keyword id="11894142" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="food" source="Orion">food</keyword>, with dishes like meatloaf, fried chicken, and pot roast.</p><p>Appetizers at the restaurant range from $9 to $12, and entrees range from $17 to $27.</p><p>50's Prime Time is also known for its super thick and creamy milkshakes.</p><h2>Every guest must follow 'mom's' rules</h2><p>Everything at 50's Prime Time is all in good fun, but the waitstaff warns every diner that "mom" has some rules that every guest should follow.</p><p>The first is that kids need to set the table with the basket of napkins and silverware. The second (and most important) rule is there are absolutely no elbows on the table. </p><p>Our waitress came over to introduce herself as our "aunt" and told us "mom" was hard at work in the kitchen making our dinner so we better behave.</p><h2>My milkshake was a sweet indulgence</h2><div type="image" title="peanut butter and jelly milkshake from 50s prime time cafe at disney world" height="2274" width="3024" msid="92683243" hostid="261" sizebytes="278532"></div><p>When I'm at 50's Prime Time, I always start with the iconic peanut-butter-and-jelly milkshake ($9).</p><p>The thick milkshake is a blend of creamy peanut butter, strawberry or grape jelly, milk, and vanilla ice cream. It's brought to the table in a shiny metal cup with a long milkshake spoon.</p><p>After tasting <a href="https://www.insider.com/shake-shack-milkshake-ranking-worst-to-best-photos-2021-9">the milkshake</a>, I can definitely say it's worth the price. The portion was so huge that even after splitting the treat with my mom, we still had some leftovers.</p><p>Our waitress got us a to-go cup for the rest before we left the restaurant.</p><h2>Next up, I tried the fried herb-and-garlic cheese as an appetizer</h2><div type="image" title="fried cheese appetizer from 50s prime time cafe in disney world" height="3024" width="4032" msid="92683244" hostid="261" sizebytes="567108"></div><p>For as long as I can remember the fried herb-and-garlic cheese ($10) has been an appetizer at 50's Prime Time, and it's always a hit.</p><p>It's made with creamy cheese that reminds me of my favorite cheese spread at home, and the outside is fried to make a crispy crust.</p><p>The dish is served with a tangy raspberry sauce, red grapes, granny-smith apple slices, and a crispy piece of garlic toast. The raspberry sauce cuts through the savory cheese, and the fruit is a nice sweet accompaniment.</p><h2>My mom and I split an entrée, making our meal less expensive</h2><div type="image" title="pot roast entree from 50s prime time cafe in disney world" height="3024" width="4032" msid="92683245" hostid="261" sizebytes="443200"></div><p>There are a few great entrée selections on the menu, but we ultimately went with Mom's old-fashioned pot roast ($25).</p><p>The meal came with a large portion of succulent pot roast on top of <a href="https://www.insider.com/trying-best-mashed-potato-recipes-from-chefs">creamy garlic mashed potatoes</a>. The dish was topped off with brown gravy and a few sautéed carrots, onions, and celery pieces. </p><p>It isn't the prettiest, but it was scrumptious.</p><p>The meat was super tender and well-seasoned. The potatoes had a good amount of garlic without being overwhelming. They were also a little thicker than how I typically like mashed potatoes, but in this case, it was fine since they had to hold up the gravy and meat. The gravy was silky smooth and the sautéed veggies added a much-needed break from the strong beef flavor.</p><p>Splitting an entrée here is really the way to go, not only because it's budget-conscious, but also because the portions are huge.</p><p>Anytime my mom and I eat here we always walk out full, even when we share.</p><p>Since we finished all our food, our waitress let us be sticker-carrying members of the "clean plate club." It's a cute touch to the homey vibes, and you get a little sticker souvenir.</p><h2>We ended up spending $50, and we'll definitely be coming back</h2><div type="image" title="megan posing in 50s prime time cafe in disney world" height="2274" width="3024" msid="92683246" hostid="261" sizebytes="182690"></div><p>In total, we tried one milkshake, one appetizer, and one entrée, which cost $50 with the tip.</p><p>We were able to use our annual-passholder discount and get 10% off of our total bill before the tip, which was also a great money saver. </p><p>There are plenty of places to dine <a href="https://www.insider.com/saving-time-money-at-disney-world-someone-with-annual-pass-2022-3">across Disney World</a>, but 50's Prime Time Café is easily one of my favorites. The cute atmosphere paired with fun employee interactions and delicious food makes for an overall great experience.</p><p>Next time I dine here, I'm looking forward to trying the beer-battered onion rings ($12) and Aunt Liz's fried chicken ($25).</p>

<ul class="summary-list"><li><a href="https://www.insider.com/cinderellas-royal-table-disney-world-review-worth-it-photos-2022-4">My family of 4</a> spent $300 dining at Be Our Guest, located in Magic Kingdom at <a href="https://www.insider.com/disney-coronado-springs-is-it-worth-it-review-2022-5">Disney World</a>. </li><li>We've been here before, but we keep coming back for the delicious <keyword id="11894142" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="food" source="Orion">food</keyword>, especially the steak. </li></ul><p>As a <keyword id="11896628" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="travel" source="Orion">travel</keyword> planner at <a href="http://www.karibeckermarvelousmousetravels.com">Marvelous Mouse Travels</a>, I visit <a href="https://www.insider.com/things-youre-doing-wrong-at-disney-world-2021-11">Disney World</a> often, and my family never misses a chance to dine at Be Our Guest.</p><p>Here's a glimpse at our last visit — including why I always recommend this dining experience.  </p><h2>The restaurant is inside the Beast's castle, and it currently serves lunch and dinner</h2><div type="image" title="external shot of the beast castle/be our guest at disney world" height="3024" width="4032" msid="92021934" hostid="261"></div><p>Be Our Guest is currently open for lunch and dinner and <a href="https://www.insider.com/trying-space-220-restaurant-with-family-disney-world-review-photos-2021-10">offers a prix-fixe menu</a> that costs $62 for adults and $37 for children. </p><p>Adults can choose an appetizer, entrée, and dessert, while kids get a choice of an appetizer, entrée with a side, dessert, and drink. </p><p>Specialty drinks and alcoholic beverages can be purchased for an extra charge.  </p><h2>It feels like you stepped into 'Beauty and the Beast'</h2><div type="image" title="main dining room at be our guest beauty and the beast restaurant" height="720" width="960" msid="92021935" hostid="261"></div><p>The restaurant is based on "Beauty and the Beast," and there are three rooms you can be seated in: the ballroom, the rose gallery, and the "West Wing." </p><p>We were seated in the ballroom this time, which boasts a high, domed ceiling and chandeliers.</p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/i-brought-my-babies-to-disney-is-it-worth-it-2022-3">My children</a> love to walk to the back to see the snowy scene under the Gothic arches.</p><h2>The service was great, and we had plenty of time to explore the whole restaurant</h2><div type="image" title="enchanted rose at be our guest beauty and the beast restaurant disney world" height="2274" width="3024" msid="92021937" hostid="261"></div><p>Overall the service was efficient and the staff kind.</p><p>While we waited for our food, we explored the other rooms. My boys always like to see the enchanted rose in the "West Wing."</p><p>Soon, the Beast was announced, and he entered the ballroom to greet his guests. He visited each room to wave to onlookers, but Belle doesn't make an appearance at this restaurant.  </p><h2>Our drinks and appetizers got the meal off to a strong start</h2><div type="image" title="bowl of french onion soup from be our guest" height="2429" width="3238" msid="92021938" hostid="261"></div><p>Our appetizers arrived quickly.</p><p>My husband chose the French onion soup, I ordered the country seasonal salad, and the kids both got the fruit-and-cheese plate.</p><p>The salad was delicious, fresh, and light. The soup was traditional, with lots of cheese — it was almost too filling for an appetizer.</p><div type="image" title="cheese plate appetizer from be our guest restaurant" height="2671" width="3561" msid="92021939" hostid="261"></div><p>The cheese plates were tasty, especially with my wine choice.</p><p>There's a nice selection of wines by the glass and bottle, and I recommend the Bella Glos pinot. There's also a small beer menu.</p><h2>We almost always order the same entrée because it's so good</h2><div type="image" title="plated filet mignon from be our guest restaurant disney world" height="2418" width="3225" msid="92021940" hostid="261"></div><p>For our entrées, we all chose the center-cut filet mignon. We're guilty of getting this <a href="https://www.insider.com/best-things-to-do-disney-world-according-to-travel-planner-2021-8">almost every time we come</a>, and honestly, it's what keeps bringing us back. </p><p>The meat is so tender that it melts in your mouth. My only complaint about the side of <a href="https://www.insider.com/trying-best-mashed-potato-recipes-from-chefs">mashed potatoes</a> is that there's simply not enough of them. The green beans are perfectly cooked, crisp, and delicious.</p><p>But the red-wine sauce really makes the entire meal. I wish I could get the recipe for this divine accompaniment.</p><p>We've tried other entrées in the past, including the chicken and sea scallops. Both are great choices, but nothing compared to the filet — I daydream about it sometimes.  </p><h2>Our dessert was a fun end to a great meal</h2><div type="image" title="trio of desserts from be our guest including the gray stuff" height="2262" width="4032" msid="92021941" hostid="261"></div><p>For dessert, we all got a trio of tiny treats with a lemon-jam macaron, chocolate tart, and dark-chocolate truffle.</p><p>The chocolate tart comes with "the gray stuff," and trust me, as Lumière sings in the movie, it's delicious.</p><p>The kids enjoyed their gray stuff in a small white-chocolate tea cup, which was absolutely adorable.</p><h2>We're going to keep coming back to this incredible <keyword id="46161" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="disney" source="Orion">Disney</keyword> spot </h2><div type="image" title="kari holding a glass of wine in be our guest restaurant" height="3024" width="4032" msid="92021942" hostid="261"></div><p>The meal cost about $300 after adding on the drinks and tip.</p><p>It's definitely a <a href="https://www.insider.com/full-day-at-animal-kingdom-for-families-what-to-do-2022-3">hefty price tag</a> — even for <keyword id="71278" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="disney-world" source="Orion">Disney World</keyword> — but the food and ambiance make it worth it for our family.</p>

Many Senate Republicans have said they wouldn't support spending another large sum of money, citing the growing national debt.</p><p>That stalemate may push the passage of a coronavirus relief bill into early next year, unless <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/congress-adjourned-coronavirus-aid-stimulus-checks-republicans-democrats-wait-deadline-2020-10">lawmakers strike an agreement</a> during a lame-duck session in December, when they must act to prevent a government shutdown. People are receiving state unemployment checks averaging $330 a week.</p><p>But millions of people <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/600-federal-unemployment-benefit-lapsed-millions-lose-jobless-aid-altogether-2020-10">could exhaust their base benefits</a> by the end of the year while unemployment remains elevated.</p><p>In addition, the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, which is aiding up to 10.3 million gig workers and freelancers who are not typically covered by state unemployment systems, is set to expire on December 31.</p><h2>Many more small businesses could go bankrupt</h2><p>A small-business aid initiative called the Paycheck Protection Program stopped accepting applications in early August. It provided low-interest, forgivable loans to small businesses that kept employees on payrolls. But it provided relief for only about 2 1/2 months.</p><p>Over 100,000 small businesses have closed because of the pandemic — and many more are still at risk.</p><p>A <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/100-000-restaurants-closed-six-months-into-pandemic-301130280.html">September survey released by the National Restaurant Association</a> found that about 40% of restaurant operators said they thought they would close within the next six months without further relief.</p><h2>Industries grappling with pandemic-related slowdowns could face even more layoffs</h2><p>The <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-layoffs-furloughs-hospitality-service-travel-unemployment-2020">travel and hospitality industries have struggled to stay afloat</a> as fears of the virus compel people to limit their activities. Work-from-home policies and travel warnings eroded business travel, a key component of hotel and airline earnings.</p><p>Airlines including United and American have <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/american-airlines-begins-furloughs-will-reverse-layoffs-with-govt-aid-2020-9">furloughed over 30,000 workers</a>, while companies like Disney have <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/disney-layoffs-theme-parks-disneyland-disneyworld-2020-9">cut tens of thousands of jobs</a>.</p><p>In an <a href="https://www.ahla.com/press-release/survey-74-hotels-will-lay-more-employees-without-further-aid">industry survey from the American Hotel and Lodging Association</a> in September, 67% of respondents said they would last only six more months without additional government assistance.</p><p>Other large companies are also shedding jobs. Boeing has announced over 7,000 layoffs. Exxon Mobil said it would cut 1,900 jobs in the US.</p><h2>A moratorium on evictions is expiring</h2><p>The Trump administration <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-administration-eviction-moratorium-renters-2020-9">implemented an eviction moratorium</a> covering all rental properties in early September.</p><p>But the measure didn't attach any financial relief, meaning renters will be on the hook for missed monthly payments when it ends in December.</p><p>The bill could amount to thousands of dollars for renters. Up to 40 million Americans are at risk of getting evicted when the moratorium expires, <a href="https://nlihc.org/news/30-40-million-people-america-could-be-evicted-their-homes-end-2020">according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition</a>.</p>

She tested negative for the flu and her test results for coronavirus are still pending.</p><p>The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p><p>Federal and state officials have significantly tightened restrictions on social movement in recent days as the coronavirus continues sweeping across the US.</p><p>President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the government recommends Americans avoid gatherings of more than 10 people. </p><p>The White House also recommends that Americans immediately begin homeschooling their children, avoiding nonessential travel, and avoiding bars and restaurants. </p><p>The guidelines aren't mandatory, but they come as many cities and states close nonessential businesses such as theaters, bars, and gyms, require restaurants to provide only delivery and takeout, and prohibit large gatherings. Various states have also closed public schools.</p><p>"We'd much rather be ahead of the curve than behind it," Trump said, adding that "each and every one of us has a critical role to play in stopping the spread and transmission of the virus."</p><p>Ohio on Monday <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ohio-postpones-march-17-primary-until-june-cancels-in-person-voting-2020-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed a lawsuit</a> to delay its primary election, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, until June 2. The governor also recommended canceling in-person voting in the state.
