Citizens will now be able to create and authenticate their own Digilocker account on WhatsApp and download documents such as PAN card; driving licence; CBSE Class X passing certificate; vehicle registration certificate (RC); insurance policy - two wheeler; Class X and Class XII marksheets; and insurance policy document (life and non-life available on Digilocker), MyGov said in a statement. According to MyGov, the move will make "the government services accessible, inclusive, transparent and simple". WhatsApp users across the country can use the chatbot by simply sending 'Namaste' or 'Hi' or 'Digilocker' to the WhatsApp number +91 9013151515. "Offering Digilocker services on the MyGov Helpdesk is a natural progression and a step towards providing citizens with simplified access to essential services via WhatsApp's easy and accessible platform. With almost 100 million+ people already registered on Digilocker and 5 billion+ documents issued till date, we are confident that the service on WhatsApp will digitally empower millions by helping them access authentic documents and information, right from within their phones," said Abhishek Singh, CEO MyGov in the statement. DigiLocker documents PAN card and driving license now accessible to WhatsApp users via MyGov Helpdesk

<keyword id="6355629" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="google" source="Orion">Google</keyword> on Monday announced that it will integrate "<keyword id="11907269" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="digilocker" source="Orion">DigiLocker</keyword>", a government-issued document storage service, into the <keyword id="6448233" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="files" source="Orion">Files</keyword> app on Android so users can access government-verified documents from the app in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. At the annual Google for India event, Google announced its partnership with the National eGovernance Division (NeGD), established by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), to roll out the DigiLocker integration within the Files app. DigiLocker is a key initiative under Digital India, which offers a secure cloud-based platform for the storage, sharing and verification of documents and certificates. "We expect that DigiLocker's integration and partnership on Android will drive smoother and ubiquitous access to digitised documents in a safe and secure manner for all our users," Abhishek Singh, President and CEO, NeGD and MyGov, MD and CEO, Digital India Corporation, said in a statement. The documents saved in Google Files will be stored in an isolated environment on the device and will be accessible only through a unique lock screen authentication. "As the number of digital users and businesses grow in India, so do the attacks surfaces. Analysing and improving cybersecurity across surfaces is no longer a human-scale problem, it needs to be supplemented with sophisticated technology. Google to integrate Digilocker in Files app to access official documents in India

New Delhi, Nov 26 () Chinese smartphone maker OPPO on Tuesday said it has integrated 'Digilocker' service into the latest version of its ColorOS operating system as part of its efforts to ensure safety and security of user data.
 The new operating system, which will start rolling out across OPPO's portfolio of devices later this month, also includes a personal information protection option that lets users protect their personal information from third-party apps.
 "The launch of ColorOS 7 with a revamped interface and enhanced features is a testament to OPPO's continued focus on elevating consumer experience. We are constantly listening to our customers and wanted to empower them to experience the ease and convenience of paperless governance," OPPO India Vice President R&amp;D Tasleem Arif said.
 In line with this endeavour, OPPO has become the first smartphone brand to integrate Digilocker service into ColorOS 7 and has come up with a localised feature called 'DocVault', he added.
 A part of the Indian government's Digital India initiative, Digital Locker allows users to store documents like driving licence and Aadhaar card digitally, instead of having to carry these in physical format.
 "We place utmost importance on privacy protection and securing user data. To this end, we have ensured that the user information will be stored and fetched directly from the government server," he noted.
 ColorOS 7 also has a feature where users can say no to an app that seeks access to contacts. In such a scenario, blank contact information is sent to the third-party app and this does not affect the normal operation of the app.
 Arif said another feature that is aimed at enhancing security is the 'private safe' feature in ColorOS 7 that allows users to transfer photos, videos, audio, and other documents to a "secure zone" on the device that is not accessible by any other app.
 OPPO ColorOS Senior Principal Engineer Manoj Kumar said that the team at OPPO headquarters and the India R&amp;D team worked closely for one year to conceptualise and globally implement ColorOS 7.
 The ColorOS 7 update will be rolled out to over 20 phone models in a phased manner from later this month, covering Reno, Find, F, K, and A series.

OPPO integrates Digilocker service into ColorOS 7

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class X results on Monday. The overall <keyword id="20123359" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pass-percentage" source="keywords">pass percentage</keyword> of 93.60 per cent was recorded. Passing percentage has increased by 0.48 per cent since last year. 25724 schools gave the CBSE class X examinations at 7603 centres. The Trivandrum region registered the highest pass percentage at 99.75 per cent whereas the lowest has been recorded at Guwahati which stood at 77.94 per cent. In the overall Delhi region, a 98.61 per cent pass percentage was recorded. 94.75 per cent of Girls passed the exam whereas 92.71 per cent of boys passed the exam with the Girls outshining boys by 2.04 per cent. Students who sat for the CBSE Class 10 board exams nationwide can view their mark sheets on the <keyword id="21637011" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CBSE-official-website" source="keywords">CBSE official website</keyword>, cbse.gov.in. The other official websites where CBSE 10th results can be checked are - cbseresults.nic.in, results.cbse.nic.in, cbse.nic.in, digilocker.gov.in, results.gov.in. The results can also be checked on mobile apps- Digilocker and UMANG. In regards to the Class 10 exams, CBSE stated that Science, Mathematics, and Social Science were chosen by 22,62,692 students each. These exams took place over three days at 7612 examination centres, utilising 94,279 rooms, with the assistance of 1,88,558 Assistant Superintendents. CBSE class X examinations were held from February 15 to March 13, 2024. Approximately 39 lakh students appeared for Class 10 and 12 examinations. Students must score a minimum of 33 per cent marks to pass the CBSE class 10 and 12 exams. Looking at the past year's trends, in 2023, the CBSE results were announced on May 12. While in the year 2022, it was declared on July 22. Earlier, CBSE declared Class XII. 87.98 per cent of students passed the board exams. Passing percentage increased by 0.65 per cent since last year. 18417 schools gave the CBSE class XII examinations at 7126 centres. This year the overall pass percentage is 87.98 a 0.65 percent increase since 2023. The Trivandrum region registered the highest pass percentage at 99.91 per cent. CBSE Class 10 board exam results declared

Following the inauguration of a National Data Centre (NDC) in Bhubaneswar this May, Prasad announced the government’s plans of establishing the largest National Data Centre in Bhopal. Prasad also announced that the NDC will have a capacity of five lakh servers. Throwing in some more announcements at the occasion, the minister mentioned that the rural BPO promotion scheme will be increased to 1 lakh seats from the current 48,000. So, what will the National Data Centre do? A National Data Centre’s primary aim is to provide ‘the citizens with online services and the e-Governance projects launched by the government’, according to the<a href="https://datacentres.nic.in/"> official website</a> of <keyword id="6373306" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-informatics-centre">National Informatics Centre</keyword> (NIC), the organisation under the government’s IT Department that is responsible for the establishment of the NDCs. As <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> becomes the largest data consumer, there is a pressing need to increase data storage for apps and websites of these services. And this is exactly what the new NDC will cater to. However, this is not the first in the country, there are four other NDCs in Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad and Pune; but this is expected to be the largest. NIC has announced that the Madhya Pradesh Government has already made the land available for the project and the centre should come up within the next two years. Rural BPO promotion scheme Prasad, who wants to make India the ‘hub for BPO movement’, said that the expansion of the rural BPO promotion scheme would bring about several benefits. The scheme is aimed at increasing employment in India, both directly and indirectly - employment related to creating the BPOs and working for them once they are created. An added perk would be finding this sort of employment near your home, in small towns. Currently, people from small towns have to relocate to bigger cities to work in these BPOs. With this being the election year, the government is also making sure it makes the right statements about policies that have already been implemented. In his speech, Prasad mentioned that Aadhar, world’s largest biometric identification with 121 crore unique IDs, is already benefiting the public. According to the minister, Aadhar has helped in the direct benefit transfer of <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/economy-policy/india-s-largest-national-data-centre-to-come-up-in-bhopal-118061900020_1.html">₹4 trillion</a> to the poor. Furthermore, ₹900 billion have been saved by removing the fictitious beneficiaries from this list, said Prasad. The government is now aiming at making the Aadhar more “robust” along with the expansion of other digital services like BHIM App, DigiLocker and <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/info-tech/govt-plans-largest-data-centre-in-bhopal/article24195005.ece">eSign</a>.

India’s largest National Data Centre to be established in Bhopal

Despite the global economy operating under an extremely challenging macroeconomic environment like the geopolitical tensions in <keyword id="28249" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="europe" source="Orion">Europe</keyword>, spiralling energy, food and fertiliser prices, monetary tightening and inflationary trends having elevated the downside risks to the global economic outlook, the Indian economy is estimated to grow by 7 per cent year-on-year in the current fiscal. The monthly economic review for January 2023 released by the finance ministry on Thursday, said that the measures announced in the union budget like a rise in capital expenditure, increased focus on infrastructure development, boost to the green economy, and initiatives for strengthening financial markets are expected to promote job creation and spur economic growth. "Measures announced for the MSME sector will likely reduce the cost of funds and aid small enterprises. Revision in tax slabs under the new personal income tax regime is expected to boost consumption, thus providing more impetus to economic growth," it noted. In addition to this, easier KYC norms, expansion of <keyword id="11907269" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="digilocker" source="Orion">DigiLocker</keyword> services, and overall impetus on digitisation and last-mile connectivity are predicted to strengthen financial markets, the survey noted further. Thanks to the emphasis on macroeconomic stability in the last several years, the Indian economy faces the year ahead with confidence while being mindful of the risks, the survey emphasised. "The last three years have seen the global economy endure a health crisis and a debilitating (ongoing) conflict in Europe. Governments and central banks of advanced and emerging market economies responded to the consequent economic challenges, first with stimulus and later with restrictive policies," the document pointed out. The rise in economic uncertainties is reflected in the unevenness of performance of the global economy in 2022, it noted. "During the fourth quarter of 2022-23, various high-frequency indicators (HFIs) pointed towards a slowdown in general, as monetary tightening appeared to have started weakening global demand. This may continue in 2023 as various agencies have forecasted a decline in global growth. Apart from the lagged impact of monetary tightening, the uncertainties emanating from the lingering pandemic and relentless conflict in Europe may further dampen global growth," the survey observed. However, it added that "Even as global output is expected to slow, the IMF and the <keyword id="6354424" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="world-bank" source="Orion">World Bank</keyword> project <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> to be the fastest-growing major economy in 2023". Indian economy to grow at 7% in FY23  global headwinds, says Finance Ministry

However, this is set to change, as the Centre, on Wednesday, announced that it is set to amend the country’s <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/soon-just-carry-e-versions-of-vehicle-papers/articleshow/65016729.cms">Motor Vehicle Rules</a> to make it compulsory for the authorities to accept digital versions of all vehicle documents. The documents include the Pollution Under Control certificate, insurance documents, the Registration Certificate (RC) and Driver’s Licence, which will be stored in an online locker called <keyword id="2905762" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="DigiLocker">DigiLocker</keyword>. It is an initiative under the Indian government’s Digital India programme. The digital documents can also be used at airports as valid identity documents. The road ministry is expected to issue an advisory in about two days. Back in 2016, the Telangana government had rolled out a similar state policy with the help of a digital locker named <a href="https://www.deccanchronicle.com/technology/in-other-news/310316/telangana-now-carry-e-version-of-licence-and-rc.html">M-Wallet</a>. However, some state transport authorities and traffic police had refused to accept the digital versions. However, once the Motor Vehicle Rules are updated, it will be mandatory for them to accept these. The ministry has proposed mandatory installation of FASTags, fixing reflective tapes and a vehicle tracking system in all National Permit vehicles. <keyword id="10591" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="samsung" source="Orion">Samsung</keyword> on Thursday invited local startups to collaborate on technologies around the 'Digital <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>' stack, including unified payments interface (<keyword id="6358921" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="upi" source="Orion">UPI</keyword>), Digilocker, Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), Open Credit Enablement Network (OCEN) and Unified Health Interface (UHI), among others. The company said that its R&amp;D centres and business units in the country will work closely with these startups to co-build solutions for a specific product or service, that has the potential to be integrated with the company's product ecosystem. "We wish to collaborate with startups who have cutting-edge technologies in this space, which, when integrated with the Samsung ecosystem, can transform the lives of people, our consumers," said Dipesh Shah, Managing Director, Samsung R&amp;D Institute Bangalore. Samsung said it will also explore funding support to some of these startups to help them further scale their solutions. The company last week held a 'Startup Collab' event at the Samsung Opera House in Bengaluru where around 25 startups came together and interacted with Samsung leadership from its R&amp;D centres in Bengaluru and Noida, and its corporate headquarters in Gurugram. "Co-prosperity is one of our core values and we hope to play our part in enhancing the innovation ecosystem in the country, thereby powering 'Digital India,'" said Dr Balvinder Singh, Head, Open Innovation Group, Samsung R&amp;D Institute Bangalore. Samsung's engineers will also provide these startups with technical mentorship as well as guidance in protecting their intellectual property. A successful startup currently powers Samsung's local India app-store where consumers can discover and access their favourite mobile applications in 12 Indian languages. Another startup has powered 'Lock Screen Stories' on Samsung Galaxy smartphones. This feature has close to 30 million daily active users, said the company. Samsung invites Indian startups to build tech around UPI, ONDC and more

"Having an ID verification means that the individual's government-issued ID is verified by one of LinkedIn's verification partners," Ashutosh Gupta, Country Manager at <keyword id="278010" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="linkedin-india" source="Orion">LinkedIn India</keyword>, said in a blogpost on Wednesday. In <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, HyperVerge, a third-party identity verification service which uses DigiLocker -- an online wallet for Indian government-issued IDs like the <keyword id="6356006" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="aadhaar-card" source="Orion">Aadhaar Card</keyword> -- handles ID verification. The ID verification is available for users with a valid Aadhaar number and an Indian phone number. "On LinkedIn, when you show that you're the real you, you'll have an even greater chance of finding the professional opportunities that matter to you and your community," Gupta said. He further mentioned that the platform does not have access to any sensitive data from the member's Aadhaar. "If you don't have an Aadhaar, you can still verify other information for use on LinkedIn using different methods. You can choose to verify through your work email, or workplace credentials," he added. Google for India goes heavy on AI — From reading handwritten prescriptions to enhancing agricultural capabilities, here’s all you need to know

New Delhi, Jan 20 () An India-Africa conference on e-governance is being planned here in March to ensure that benefits of digital platforms are made available for the empowerment of African citizens, a senior official said on Monday.
 The conference 'Digital Africa: Empowered Citizens' will witness participation of policy makers and government officials from India and 54 African countries.
 "The Ministry of External Affairs-led initiative in collaboration with the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and National Centre for Good Governance envisages convening an Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) India-Africa e-governance with focus on enhanced south-south cooperation for sharing the benefits of e-governance for improved service delivery," DARPG Additional Secretary V Srinivas said. 
 He said discussions have been held with African ambassadors in Delhi and the preparations have commenced.
 "Dates for the conference in March 2020 are expected to be announced shortly," Srinivas told .
 The objective of the conference is to ensure the benefits of digital platforms are made available for empowerment of the African citizens, another official said.
 India has a number of success stories on how technology is used to provide efficient services while improving the quality of life of the citizen, he said.
 "An innovative feature of the ITEC India-Africa e-governance conference is that it provides a forum for government, business and academia from India and Africa while also seeking to crowdsource ideas on strengthening the collaboration through hackathon," the officer said.
 The conference will have eight sessions to cover an array of subjects including e-governance, fintech and capacity building, while also exploring business partnerships and identifying a roadmap forward, he said.
 India's several successful initiatives like BharatNet (a programme on providing broadband connectivity to all households), DigiLocker (platform for issuance and verification of documents and certificates), BHIM (unified payment interface) and Aadhaar enabled payment services, and its benefits would be highlighted during the event, the officer added. The company is <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/education/cbse-results-2018-will-be-available-at-google-search-1851516">tying up</a> with India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (<keyword id="6356155" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse">CBSE</keyword>) to display exam results through Google search. Under the initiative, students will be able to search for Board Examination results directly on Google. That means students won’t have to visit official websites, which often crash when exam results are declared, because of high traffic on the sites. This, in turn, leads to delays in students getting access to their results. The board examinations in India are state levels examinations, considered important for further admissions in colleges. The CBSE conducts these examinations for a huge part of the country. In fact, reports say over 2.8 million students appeared for these examinations in 2018. This is not the first time Google is making such an effort though. Earlier, the company had catalogued the Joint Entrance Examinations (<keyword id="6392660" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE">JEE</keyword>) Main results that came out on 30 April 2018. The JEE examinations are also conducted by the CBSE, for admissions to some of India’s most prestigious engineering colleges, including the various <keyword id="55119" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Technology">Indian Institute of Technology</keyword> branches. How is this different? Before this, students or parents first had to use Google search to find the hosting portal and then log into that website to check exam results. The issue with this approach was that the time taken to access the results would completely depend on website’s server. Multiple login attempts and traffic congestion led to students having to wait hours until they could see their results. With Google involved, students will be able to type ‘CBSE 12 Results 2018’ into the Google search box and after <a href="https://www.thebetterindia.com/141280/cbse-result-2018-google/">selecting</a> the correct option from the recommended searches, a CBSE window will pop open. Students will have to follow the usual procedure of filling in their roll number, date of birth etc. for the results to show up. The results will also be <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/india/cbse-class-12-result-2018-on-cbse-nic-in-click-for-date-and-time-1745995.html">available</a> through the official CBSE website, an interactive voice response (IVR) service, SMS, DigiLocker and official school websites.

Rishi Sunak says he would rather lose than win on a false promise

New Delhi, Mar 20 () The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) on Friday asked pensioners and employers to avoid visiting its offices and avail online services like raising claims for PF, view balance, and make payments etc from their homes. The step has been taken to curb the spread of deadly coronavirus, the EPFO said in a statement. To contain the spread of coronavirus, the EPFO advises members, pensioners and employers to avoid visiting EPFO offices and avail various online services offered by it from their homes, it said. Most of the services of the EPFO are available online, it mentioned. An employee can generate his/her own Universal Account Number (UAN), activate his/her UAN and seed it with Aadhaar, PAN, Bank Account and mobile number (KYC seeding), the EPFO said. "Employee can also make nominations, view balance in the passbook, update his/her date of exit, transfer his/her account from unexempted to exempted establishment and vice-versa. "Employees have been further empowered to raise claims online for the provident fund (PF) advances or final withdrawal, pension or insurance benefits and receive payment of PF/pension/insurance benefits directly in his/her bank account," the statement said. Similarly, a pensioner can download his/her pension payment order (PPO) or preserve it in Digilocker. He/she can know his PPO number with the help of his/her bank account number or UAN and view passbook. Pensioners can also update Jeevan Praman (Digital Life Certificate) online any time of the year. "Employers can register their establishments under EPF&amp;MP Act, 1952 and obtain establishment ID, make payment of EPF and allied dues through RTGS/NEFT and submit Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR). Employers have also been facilitated to avail e-inspections of their establishments," it said. In case of any grievance, the EPFO said employees, employers and pensioners can get them resolved online through EPFigms portal. The details of these services and facilities are also available at www.epfindia.gov.in.
