New Delhi, May 18 () Nashik-based IT firm ESDS on Monday said that it has developed a technology that can indicate coronavirus infection in less than 5 minutes. About three dozen government hospitals and private hospitals in cities like Mumbai and some states have deployed the technology, the company claimed. The company also released a report by a radiologist at a hospital in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, which claimed that the screening solution is working with 96 per cent efficiency. "We have developed a research-based technology which is the need of the hour as the number of cases are rising every day thereby putting a strain on the COVID 19 testing centres. "Our technology is currently in use in three dozen government and select private hospitals in cities like Mumbai, and in States like Kerala and Madhya Pradesh," ESDS Software Solution founder and CEO Piyush Somani said in a statement. He said that the company has deployed the technology under the brand AA+ COVID-19 and is also testing the solution in Ireland and Germany as well. "This technology helps eliminate the SWAB test in patients who aren't critical and cuts down the time for getting the result. With its speedy and accurate outcome, we are also getting queries from states across India. This shall soon be available across metro cities where the cases are increasing rapidly," Somany said. The company is facilitating free tests for patients at the moment and it will charge up to Rs 150 per test after a few days. It is a complete contactless testing procedure, where a health official needs to upload the Chest X-ray report of a patient on a web browser. Post submission, it will quickly indicate whether the patient is suffering from COVID-19 or not, the statement said. The company shared a pilot test report from a hospital in Dewas in which said that around 7,514 samples have been tested using the ESDS technology out of which 3,482 samples were having pneumonia. The efficiency of the system was up to 96 per cent and as per the claim made by the ESDS Software Solutions, the report said. Somany said that the technology is indicative only for people to take caution, medical fraternities to quickly start the action by the time lab reports come and help them start early treatment of the patient. In a bid to encourage start-ups, the <keyword id="6354952" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Delhi-Government">Delhi government</keyword> is taking steps that will exempt them from various rules and regulations till they achieve a particular turnover, a top official told PTI. 
 Lots of start-ups are coming up in the country and there is a need to provide them a conducive environment for their growth, Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (<keyword id="6391107" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="DIPP">DIPP</keyword>) <keyword id="6358887" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Amitabh-Kant">Amitabh Kant</keyword> told PTI. 
 
 
"I think the challenge really is that how do we ensure that they (start-ups) do not have to go through any of the government procedures and regulations. 
 
"We are pushing for that for a particular number of years or till they achieve a particular turnover. These start-ups do not have to go to the very complicated process of company registration or labour registration or going through income tax processes and they keep away from the government and that is something which we are trying to evolve," he said. 
 
Kant also said India is seeing a huge energy, vibrancy and dynamism in start-ups and "We have to encourage lot of people to get into manufacturing" 
 
"Start-ups have to be given a major thrust," he said adding, "our aim is that we should be able to create an eco system where manufacturing and young start-ups flourish". 
 After 'Make in India' drive, Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> in his Independence Day speech had announced a new campaign - Start-up India; Stand up India - to promote entrepreneurship. 
 
As per estimates, there are about 3,200 tech-led start-ups in India, with 800 coming on board every year. 
 
Talking about ease of doing business, Kant said the government has taken several steps to improve India's ranking. 
 
India is currently ranked 142nd among 189 nations in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business 2015 study. With the exception of two parameters (getting credit and protecting minority investors), India does not feature in the top 100 in the remaining parameters. 
 
In 'dealing with construction permits' and 'enforcing contracts' parameters, India ranks among the bottom 10 economies as per the ranking. 
 
On the report he said: "The World Bank study was based on only Mumbai and Delhi. Now Mumbai and Delhi are not business centres any more, they are commercial areas. Industries have moved out of Delhi and Mumbai to areas (such as) Haryana, Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad. 
 
"So I think the World Bank study in someway is flawed because of its representative charter being only Mumbai and Delhi," he added. 
 
Kant expressed hope that, this year India's ranking would improve in the report. The efforts aims at bringing India into the top 50 ranks in the ease of doing business.

Delhi government working on plans benefiting start-ups: DIPP secretary Amitabh Kant

New Delhi, India's <keyword id="19287761" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mango-exports-rose" source="Orion">mango exports rose</keyword> 19 per cent to USD 47.98 million during the April-August period this fiscal, the commerce ministry said on Friday. In volume terms, the shipments increased to 27,330.02 tonnes during the first five months of this fiscal from 22,963.78 tonnes in the year-ago period, it said. Of this, the maximum were exported to the US, it said. India has exported 2043.60 tonnes of mangoes to the US in the first five months of the current fiscal, an increase of 19 per cent over the same period last year, the ministry said. The other major destinations include Japan (43 tonnes), New Zealand (111 tonnes), Australia (58.42 tonnes), South Africa (4.44 tonnes), and Iran, Mauritius, Czech Republic, and Nigeria. As part of its initiative to promote export of mangoes, the Centre invited the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) inspector for pre-clearance of mangoes at irradiation facilities at Vashi, Nashik, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. "The export of mangoes in the first five months of the current fiscal (stood at) USD 47.98 million, which is 19 per cent higher than the previous years' value of USD 40.33 million in the same period," it said. It added that inspectors from South Korea have also been invited for pre-clearance of mangoes for exports to that country. This has allowed India to export 18.43 tonnes of the fruit after being treated at the authorised Vapour Heat Treatment facility under the joint supervision of the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine, and Storage (DPPQS), India and Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA), South Korea.

Mango exports up 19% to $47.98 million during April-August 2023 - US top destination

<keyword id="1851542" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maratha-groups" source="Orion">Maratha groups</keyword> continued their protests for the third day across several districts in the state to press for reservation for the community here on Tuesday. Alarmed by the spread of agitation, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has convened an all-party meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday to discuss and resolve the issue. Maratha legislators from all political parties staged a protest near the Gandhi statue outside Mantralaya in Nariman Point and are likely to meet Governor Ramesh Bais later demanding a special legislature session to finalise the community quotas. The great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, Tushar A. Gandhi said that the Centre had very successfully engineered violence in New Delhi to scuttle the anti-CAA-NRC protests that had become a big embarrassment for the government. "Now the same modus operandi has been employed in Maharashtra to defame and derail the Maratha reservation agitation," said <keyword id="97377" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tushar-gandhi" source="Orion">Tushar Gandhi</keyword> sharply. Another incident of arson on a government office was reported from Jalna where a village panchayat office was torched by some unknown persons raising pro-quota slogans. Scores of Maratha activists lay down on the railway tracks in Solapur and blocked the passage of at least one long-distance train even as police attempted to clear the railway lines. A local office of the Bharatiya Janata Party was set ablaze at Naiknagar in Hingoli district, while a large number of Maratha activists got down in a stream in Pune for a 'jal-samadhi' protest. Public bus services remained shut for the second day in parts of Parbhani district and in Malkapur, Buldhana district, protestors smeared black paint on posters of the CM on a vehicle. Scores of Marathas launched relay hunger strikes at Chunabhatti in Mumbai and Mungse village in Nashik district demanding immediate announcement of quotas. Schools and colleges remained shut on Tuesday in Shevgaon, Ahmednagar district and students participated in the protests. In Pune, protestors blocked the Pune-Bengaluru Highway by throwing burning truck tyres on the Navale Bridge and squatting on the road, raising anti-government slogans, as 10-km long traffic snarls developed on both sides of the important thoroughfare. A large number of activists took out a symbolic 'funeral' procession of the state government in Tembhurni, Solapur district, while half a dozen services of the Nagpur-Pune sleeper bus services were suspended for the day. In Beed, which was rocked by large-scale arson and violence on Monday, a Nationalist Congress Party (SP) activist <keyword id="13209654" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="yogesh-kshirsagar" source="Orion">Yogesh Kshirsagar</keyword> alleged that the torching of his MLA brother Sandeep R. Kshirsagar was "a pre-planned conspiracy". "Before setting our house on fire, someone had snapped off the power supply here, the miscreants who indulged in stone-pelting were carrying bottles filled with petrol, and the police proved totally incapable of stopping them," claimed Yogesh Kshirsagar. The Shivba Sanghatana President Manoj Jarange-Patil, whose indefinite hunger strike entered the seventhday on Tuesday, again appealed to his supporters in the state to refrain from any violence and carry out a peaceful agitation.
