Five investment options for defence personnel

New generation ballistic missile 'Agni Prime' was successfully flight-tested by the <keyword id="152819" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="defence-research-and-development-organisation" source="Orion">Defence Research and Development Organisation</keyword> (<keyword id="6355142" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="drdo" source="Orion">DRDO</keyword>). The Ballistic missile 'Agni Prime' was tested from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. During the flight test, all objectives were successfully demonstrated, a defence ministry official said on Thursday. According to the Ministry, this was the first pre-induction night launch conducted by the users after three successful developmental trials of the missile, validating the accuracy and reliability of the system. The test was conducted in the night hours of June 7. Range Instrumentation like Radar, Telemetry and Electro-Optical Tracking Systems were deployed at different locations, including two down-range ships, at the terminal point to capture flight data covering the entire trajectory of the vehicle, the ministry added. Senior officials from DRDO and Strategic Forces Command witnessed the successful flight-test, which paved the way for induction of the system into the <keyword id="3790" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="armed-forces" source="Orion">Armed Forces</keyword>. India successfully fight tests 'Agni Prime' ballistic missile with a range of 2,000 kms

In a major push to induct indigenously developed weapon systems, the <keyword id="15141" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="indian-air-force" source="Orion">Indian Air Force</keyword> has moved a proposal worth over Rs 1,400 crore to the government for acquiring <keyword id="7766600" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rudram" source="Orion">Rudram</keyword> next-generation anti-radiation missiles (NGARM) to search and destroy enemy radar locations, informed defence officials. "A proposal for acquisition of advanced missiles developed by the <keyword id="152819" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="defence-research-and-development-organisation" source="Orion">Defence Research and Development Organisation</keyword> is with the <keyword id="43909" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="defence-ministry" source="Orion">Defence Ministry</keyword> and a high-level meeting would soon be taking a call on it," defence officials told <keyword id="21936" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ani" source="Orion">ANI</keyword>. The next-generation anti-radiation missiles have already been tested by the Indian Air Force from its Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft fleet and can destroy enemy radar locations during conflicts, they said. The destruction of radar systems can help the Indian Air Force to strike targets without detection, the officials said. The NGARM can be fired from IAF fighters like the Sukhoi-30 and the Mirage-2000. It is accurate and has been developed with the capability to even track a radar system even if it is not operating. NGARM is India's first indigenously developed anti-radiation missile that has a speed of <keyword id="1548525" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mach" source="Orion">Mach</keyword> two or twice the speed of sound. The tactical, air-to-surface anti-radiation missile is equipped with a passive homing head that tracks sources of radiation of a wide range of frequencies. IAF set to place Rs 1,400 crore order for next-gen missiles to search and destroy enemy radars

The Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent was given a grand welcome as it landed at the Hyakuri Air Base, about 80 km northeast of Tokyo, on Tuesday for the inaugural joint Air Exercise between India and <keyword id="6355311" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="japan" source="Orion">Japan</keyword> that kicks off on January 12. According to the TeamLease Employment Outlook Report for Q4, Bengaluru and Mumbai have emerged as the cities with the highest hiring sentiment in the services and manufacturing sectors respectively. “Surplus public investment in PLI schemes, the Indian Government's asset monetization programme, increased private participation in key sectors, and the revisions in FDI laws in the defence and telecom sectors has fueled growth in companies across sectors, especially in Tier 1 and Tier 2 locations. Companies are therefore shoring up their talent pool to meet their increasing requirements,” said Kartik Narayan, chief executive officer, TeamLease Services. TeamLease Services is one of the country’s leading human resource companies and offers its services to over 3,500 employers. In the services sector, Bengaluru tops the list with 97% of employers expressing a higher hiring interest, followed by Chennai with 94%, Delhi with 90%, Hyderabad with 86% and Mumbai with 85%. When it comes to the manufacturing sector, Mumbai tops the list with 97% of employers expressing a higher hiring sentiment, followed by Bengaluru with 94%, Chennai with 89%, Delhi with 84% and Pune with 73%. Bengaluru has shown the highest hiring intent, emerging as one of the top-two cities in both the sectors. Bengaluru and Mumbai have emerged as ‘sweet spots’ from a holistic perspective across sectors. "On December 9, 2022 in the Yangtse area of Tawang sector PLA troops encroached upon and attempted to change status quo. This attempt was tackled by our troops in a determined manner. There was fist fight in during this face-off as well. Our troops bravely stopped PLA from encroaching upon our territory and forced them to go back to their post," Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in the Lok Sabha. The minister said that the issue had been taken up with China through diplomatic channels. "After this incident, on December 11, the local commander of the area held a flag meeting with his Chinese counterpart under the established system and discussed this incident. The Chinese side was refused all such actions and told to maintain peace at the border," Singh told the Lok Sabha. India got its first ever export order for <keyword id="961030" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BrahMos-missiles" source="Orion">BrahMos missiles</keyword> on Friday when the <keyword id="3750" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="philippines" source="Orion">Philippines</keyword>' <keyword id="43909" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="defence-ministry" source="Orion">Defence Ministry</keyword> signed USD 374 million contract with the <keyword id="2635490" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="brahmos-aerospace-pvt-ltd" source="Orion">BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd</keyword> (BAPL) to supply undisclosed number of missiles, military officials stated. The BAPL, an India-Russian joint venture, produces the supersonic cruise missile BrahMos that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or from land platforms. The USD 374 million contract is to supply shore-based anti-ship BrahMos missiles to the Philippines' Navy, the military officials noted. In a statement, the Defence Ministry said: "The BAPL signed a contract with the Department of National Defence of the Republic of Philippines on January 28, 2022, for supply of shore-based anti-ship missile system to Philippines." "The BAPL is a joint venture company of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. The contract is an important step forward for Government of India's policy of promoting responsible defence exports," it added. India has already deployed a sizable number of the Brahmos missiles and other key assets in several strategic locations along the Line of Actual Control with China in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. Speaking Thursday morning, Ben Wallace said the West must resist Russian efforts to hold onto those parts of Ukraine where they have a foothold, after failing to take the country outright. Wallace, who is increasingly being talked up as a potential successor to Boris Johnson, said Putin's forces should be forced out of Ukrainian territory entirely, including Crimea, which was annexed in 2014. He told Sky News: "It's certainly the case that Putin, having failed in nearly all of his objectives, may seek to consolidate what he's got. Sort of fortify and dig in as he did in 2014, and just be a sort of cancerous growth within the country of Ukraine and make it very hard for people to move them out of those fortified positions. "If we want this to not happen, we have to help Ukraine try to get the limpet off the rock and keep the momentum pushing them back."Wallace added: "The international community believes Russia should leave Ukraine. The international community condemned Russia for its invasion of Crimea, which was illegal in 2014, [and] its invasion of Donetsk. We've constantly said that Russia should leave Ukraine sovereign territory, so that hasn't changed."But he conceded there was "a long way to go" before Ukraine could take Crimea back."First and foremost, let's get Russia out of where they are now in its invasion plans," he added. New Delhi, Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on Wednesday met troops deployed in harsh winter conditions at forward locations at <keyword id="9262087" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-line-of-actual-control">the Line of Actual Control</keyword> and reviewed the prevailing <keyword id="594003" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tense-situation">tense situation</keyword> with <keyword id="1334" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="China">China</keyword>. General Naravane also reviewed troops preparedness at the forward location. General Naravane reached Leh for a day visit to Fire and Fury Corps. From Leh, he went to forward locations deployed few metres away from Chinese troops at Line of Actual Control (LAC). "He also visited Rechin La and undertook a first-hand assessment of the situation along the LAC," said a <keyword id="9576480" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="senior-indian-army-officer">senior Indian Army officer</keyword>. Temperatures at critical mountain peaks and passes along the disputed India-China border have dropped to minus 20 Degrees Celsius throwing up a fresh challenge to the thousands of troops amassed by both sides. India and China are engaged in a nine-month-long standoff at the LAC. Despite several levels of dialogue, there has not been any breakthrough and the deadlock continues.
