The fight against Human trafficking, regarded as the second largest organised crime in the world, is getting a new weapon - mobile games. Mobile Premier League (<keyword id="1953612" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mpl" source="Orion">MPL</keyword>), the Bengaluru based tech start-up, has teamed up with the NGO Missing Links Trust, to launch a Role Play Game (<keyword id="6503133" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="rpg" source="Orion">RPG</keyword>) called Missing to spread awareness about human trafficking among potential vicitms and general public. The genre of Role Play Games (RPG) is one of the most popular genres in gaming and it usually involves gamers assuming the role of assassins, sorcerers, zombies or elf in American or Japanese games with names like Dungeons &amp; Dragons. In a classic role reversal, the Missing game on MPL, makes gamers assume the role of a trafficked girl in India. On the eve of the International day against human trafficking on 30th July, Namratha Swamy, Country Manager (India) of MPL said, "We launched this game in April this year and the response from our 90 million users have been overwhelmingly positive. This was among the top ten games in the first month of the launch. Since then, It has been among the top half of all the games that we host on our platform." The multi lingual game, available in Hindi, English, Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Telugu, Gujarati, <keyword id="29621" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="maithili" source="Orion">Maithili</keyword> and <keyword id="6356629" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tamil" source="Orion">Tamil</keyword>, is designed to allow players to experience what a missing person goes through when she is trafficked into the inhumane and cruel world of prostitution, a world into which millions of girls are lost every year. The players are introduced to multiple choices that they have to make at every step of the game with the objective of getting out of the trap set by traffickers. <keyword id="231790" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="leena-kejriwal" source="Orion">Leena Kejriwal</keyword>, founder, Missing Trust said, "The Missing game comes under the genre of 'Games for Change' by tackling the first 'P for Prevention' of the <keyword id="63659" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="united-nation" source="Orion">United Nation</keyword>'s four Ps against trafficking. It is pertinent that the theme for this year's International day against human trafficking, is 'Use and Misuse of Technology'. Gaming is one of the most popular pastimes among youth in India and what better medium than gaming to make people aware of issue of human trafficking." In India, on an average 1827 women trafficked every hour and 16 million women are victims of sex trafficking every year, according to a <keyword id="316868" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dasra" source="Orion">Dasra</keyword> report. About 40% of them are adolescents and children, some as young as 9 years old. This tech startup is fighting human trafficking, one game at a time

New Delhi, Apr 14 () Donation platform GiveIndia on Tuesday said it has launched the 'India COVID Response Fund' (ICRF) with initial donations worth Rs 75 crore to support the on-ground COVID relief efforts being carried out by its network of verified non-profits.Some of the early donors to the fund include the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation, Google.org, HSBC India, Omidyar Network India, UBS Optimus Foundation, Marico, Uber India (through Uber Care driver fund), Binny Bansal and A.T.E. Chandra Foundation.The fund will use a data-backed approach to identify the most critical areas of intervention and scale the relief efforts pan India, a statement said.The donation platform is aiming at creation of a larger corpus that can support up to 10 million people nationally, it added."Since we started fundraising for COVID relief work on March 22, we have received donations from more than 2 lakh people globally, raised Rs 75 crores, partnered with over 40 organisations, onboarded more than 100 non-profits, and these initial efforts will impact one million people," GiveIndia Director and ICRF Advisor Govind Iyer said.However, the on-ground requirement is much larger and the fund is an open platform for all to come together and support the most critical need of the hour, he added.Other partners in the collective are CSIP (Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy) from Ashoka University, Bridgespan, Indiaspora, Sattva, Dasra and IIFL Wealth, the statement said.An expert advisory group has been set up to guide fundraise and allocations, including Dr Devi Shetty, (Chairman, Narayana Health), Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (Chairman, Biocon), Sanjiv Mehta (Chairman, HUL), Surendra Rosha (CEO, HSBC India), Binny Bansal (Co-founder, Flipkart), Manoj Kohli (Country Head, Softbank) and Amitabh Chaudhry (CEO, Axis Bank).Shilpa Kumar (Investment Partner, Omidyar Network India), Ingrid Srinath (Director, CSIP, Ashoka University), Arun Seth (former Chairman-BT), Amita Chauhan (Chairperson, SVP Mumbai), Shailesh Haribhakti (CA), Haigreve Khaitan (Managing Partner, Khaitan &amp; Co), V Vaidyanathan (MD &amp; CEO, IDFC First Bank), Neeraj Aggarwal (Head APAC, BCG) and Karan Bhagat (MD &amp; CEO, IIFL Wealth) are also part of the effort."ICRF will focus on preventing the spread of the coronavirus, providing humanitarian aid, supporting our health workers and enabling the COVID-hit families to rebuild their livelihoods. GiveIndia starts India COVID Response Fund with Rs 75 cr in initial donations

<keyword id="422862" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Make-a-difference">Make A Difference</keyword> (MAD), an Indian NGO actively working in the field of education of orphaned kids, got a worldwide exposure when the technology giant <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> entered into a three-week long collaboration with them. As part of this collaboration, Google will be conducting a three-part workshop for NGO kids and teach how they can foster entrepreneurship using Google products. 
 
The first leg of the three-part workshop was held recently, on 12th September, where children of class 11 and 12 of the Arya Anathalaya participated. In the workshop, boys were told two things: the importance of dreaming big and that anybody has the ability to make the impossible happen with a single, brilliant idea. 
 
Mentors from Google offices across the world, namely Colombia, Lithuania, USA and India, interacted with MAD’s group of children and made an effort to teach them as well as understand their lives. 
 
With guidance from Google mentors, the kids learnt the nuances of entrepreneurship and enthusiastically participated in activity where they had to brainstorm over their own entrepreneurial idea and prepare the Business Model Canvas. 
 
In the next two weeks, the remaining workshop sessions will be conducted. In the second session, children will learn how they can use various Google tools and products to maximize their productivity and efficiency. In the third session, Google mentors will help kids with their communication and presentation skills; post which children would have to formally present their business <a>ideas in front of the Google collaborators. </a> 
 
290 youngsters from Delhi volunteered at 6 shelter homes across the city to teach, mentor and guide 387 children at risk. Apart from this, 50 more volunteers organized events and campaigns to generate funds for the cause. 
 
About MAD 
 
Make A Difference is an NGO that empowers children living in orphanages and street shelters to discover their true strengths and unleash their full potential. Volunteer profiles range from Ed Support Teachers, working with a class of ten children and teaching English, Maths, and Science, Propel Volunteers, counseling and guiding children for a right career, Discover Volunteers, conducting activities to broaden the career horizons of children, and Fundraising Interns, raising funds to support education for children. Across 23 cities in India, around 2000 volunteers reach out to 5000 children living in shelter homes. 
 
MAD is the winner of the Ashoka Staples Youth Social Entrepreneur Competition 2008, and was nominated as the best Medium Category NGO in the Indiya Shines initiative organized by GreatNonProfits.com in 2009. Google Goes MAD in Delhi

It goes without saying that the children of the richest people in the country aka the Mittals, Ambanis and Birlas are born with a silver spoon in their month and more often than not we tend to disregard their achievements because of this very reason- that they had it easy. 
 
But, having said that, it should also be kept in mind that not everything comes easy. And, while being born in one of the country’s richest families may help things, but it’s still never enough to be successful.
