Mumbai, July 13 (IANS) Public Cloud security incidents hit India the hardest in the last year with 93 per cent of the country's organisations experiencing such an issue, said a survey of 26 nations by cybersecurity company Sophos on Monday.<br /><br />The cybersecurity incidents that Indian organisations suffered most included ransomware (53 per cent) and other malware (49 per cent), exposed data (49 per cent), compromised accounts (48 per cent), and cryptojacking (36 per cent), said the report titled "The State of Cloud Security 2020"<br /><br />Europeans suffered the lowest percentage of security incidents in the Cloud, an indicator that compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines are helping to protect organisations from being compromised.<br /><br />India is yet to enforce a data protection law.<br /><br />"Ransomware, not surprisingly, is one of the most widely reported cybercrimes in the public Cloud," Chester Wisniewski, Principal Research Scientist at Sophos said in a statement.<br /><br />"The recent increase in remote working provides extra motivation to disable Cloud infrastructure that is being relied on more than ever, so it's worrisome that many organisations still don't understand their responsibility in securing Cloud data and workloads," Wisniewski said.<br /><br />"Cloud security is a shared responsibility, and organisations need to carefully manage and monitor Cloud environments in order to stay one step ahead of determined attackers."<br /><br />Accidental exposure continues to plague organisations, with misconfigurations exploited in 44 per cent of reported attacks on Indian organisations.<br /><br />Additionally, more than 55 per cent Indian businesses reported that cybercriminals gained access through stolen Cloud provider account credentials, said the report.<br /><br />Despite this, only 29 per cent said managing access to Coud accounts is a top area of concern.<br /><br />With 76 per cent organisations using the public Cloud, detection and response is leading Cloud security concern for Indian IT managers while data security remains a top concern globally for businesses.<br /><br />The report is based on an independent survey involving more than 3,500 IT managers across 26 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa that currently host data and workloads in the public Cloud.<br /><br />--IANS<br /><br />gb/na

The hack, which was brought to Tesla's attention by the cybersecurity startup RedLock, also reportedly exposed some of Tesla's proprietary data related to mapping, telemetry, and vehicle servicing.</p><p>RedLock discovered the hack after it found an IT administrative console that didn't have a password, but the company was unable to determine who initiated the hack or how much cryptocurrency was mined. According to Fortune, Tesla paid RedLock over $3,000 as part of its <a href="https://bugcrowd.com/tesla">bug bounty program</a>, which rewards people who find vulnerabilities in the company's products or services that could be exploited by hackers. </p><p><span>"We maintain a bug bounty program to encourage this type of research, and we addressed this vulnerability within hours of learning about it," a Tesla spokesperson told Business Insider in an email. "The impact seems to be limited to internally-used engineering test cars only, and our initial investigation found no indication that customer privacy or vehicle safety or security was compromised in any way."</span></p><p><span>Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the retailer's cloud storage division, and it has become one of the company's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-web-services-cloud-online-shopping-profits-chart-2017-5?r=UK&amp;IR=T">most profitable services</a>. But AWS accounts, along with business and government websites and servers, have become vulnerable to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/hackers-broke-into-amazon-cloud-to-mine-bitcoin-2017-10">"cryptojacking"</a> schemes in which hackers <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/government-linked-websites-across-the-world-have-been-shut-down-as-hackers-were-using-them-to-mine-cryptocurrencies-2018-2">break into them</a> to mine cryptocurrency, which has become increasingly lucrative in the past year.</span></p><p>The hack also demonstrated one of the primary concerns auto companies face as they race to introduce the first autonomous vehicles and ride-sharing services. Having proprietary data or technology exposed to competitors could be the difference between being one of the first entrants into the self-driving car market and playing catch-up. </p><p>That difference could end up costing companies billions of dollars, which is why Waymo <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-and-waymo-trial-on-monday-trade-secret-dispute-levandowski-2018-2">sued Uber</a> after alleging that Anthony Levandowski, a former Uber engineer who joined the company after working at Waymo, stole confidential information from Waymo that was used by Uber to develop lidar sensors for self-driving vehicles.
